Marley looked at the door before him. He had heard rumours about the maze in this place. And, as one would expect, if there was something challenging, you can bet your ass Marley Hyde was going to do it. Hell, he had even come in costume for this. Tattered clothing, pale green body paint, with numerous stitches drawn along his skin. A tall, lanky, Frankenstein's monster. He glanced over at Maggie, who was floating beside him. Well, if you're going into a maze full of ghosts, better bring a ghost in with you. "You ready girl?" he asked with a chuckle. The Mismagius gave him a nod, smiling before looking at the door. Well, better now than later.
You enter a room that is lit only by a large moon-shaped light in the center of the ceiling, tiny LED stars that cover the rest of the ceiling like a night sky, and one dimly backlit plaque with instructions: "Pick a partner and sing".
A Midday, Midnight, and Dusk form Lycanroc sit around the room, howling at the false moon. Each has a small barrel hanging from their neck. Choose a Lycanroc and make a Performance roll! Players may choose the same or different Lycanroc.
Marley stopped and looked around the room. Well, wasn't this a pleasant little thing? Taking notice of the plaque, he looked over at the three Lycanroc sitting around, howling at the moon. So...he was to go to one of them and join them? Seemed simple enough, even if Marley didn't consider himself musically inclined. Still, he couldn't get anywhere if he didn't try.
Marley made his way over to the Midnight Lycanroc, sitting down next to him. Taking a deep breath, Marley began to sing.
The Lycanroc is pleased with your performance, and gives you 4 Rare Candies out of its neck barrel! Please update your bag! Onto the next room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a room that looks bigger than it should. In front of you is a pit you cannot see the bottom of. Jutting up from the pit are stone pillars arranged in a 4x4 grid, with just enough space between them that it's possible to fall, but even a clumsy person should be able to jump between them with enough ease.
The tops of the pillars seem to have one glowing button each, and are engraved with images. The row of 4 on the far left side of the room depicts witch hats. The mid-left 4 depict moons. The mid-right 4 depict bats. The far right 4 depict pumpkins. At the front of the room is a backlit plaque with four pictures: A leaf, a wolf, an open set of fangs, and a broom, in that order.
Marley couldn't help but smirk. Not a bad piece of musical talent, if he said so himself. Accepting the Rare Candies, he gave the Lycanroc a fist bump before he got up and left the room. Onto the next challenge!
The next one was rather interesting. Sixteen pillars, four different symbols, and some sort of code he had to follow. It took him a brief moment to figure out what he needed to do. It was a rather simply puzzle, really.
Starting with the first row of pillars, he jumped to the pillar on the far right, the pumpkin. Pumpkins had leafs after all. Next was the wolf. For the next row, he jumped into the mid left pillar, the moon. Wolves and moons after all. The next row was the mid right, the bat. Bats, fangs, kind of obvious. The final row had him leap over to the far left, the witch's hat. After all, what was a witch without a broom?
All the pillars light up, and the door opens. You guessed correctly! Onto the next room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a room that seems to have only a pit between you and the door on the other side. The backlit plaque at the front reads: "Have faith… and careful footing."
If you step out or carefully test it, you will find the entire thing solid, just invisible, against the door side of the pit, but only for a few feet. After that, it changes into a more narrow winding path. Make 3 Dexterity rolls.
A simple puzzle, just as Marley thought. The tall man swaggered into the next room, and then stopped as he saw the pit in front of him. How was he supposed to do, jump over it?
Seeing the plaque, he slowly reached a foot out, feeling the invisible floor. Ah, so it was one of those little things. He would need to take this slow. He glanced at Maggie, hoping the ghost pokemon can catch him if he falls.
Slowly, feeling as he went, he stepped out over the pit.
You make it a little way into the maze, but at one point while testing your footing, you loose it and fall into the abyss! It feels like you're falling for at least a minute before finally you hit the floor outside the entrance with a soft thud. You have been ejected.
Dammit! Marley let out a yelp, his finger slipping as he fell. He tried to grab hold of Maggie, but missed as he plunged into the darkness. Was this seriously how it was going to end? With him falling to his death in a haunted maze?
And then, he landed on his back with a thud, landing outside of the first door. Well, guess he was just getting thrown out. Damn. Marley climbed to his feet, dusting himself off as Maggie phased in through the wall. Well, at least he got some candy out of it.
