The Servine busted the Poke Ball right in half and fled, leaving Azalea looking a little forlorn at losing his foe. "Ah, that's prob'ly fer the best. Ivy'd hate t' have a bigger rival like that, I reckon." Aster shrugged, and walked up to Azalea, who was allowing his speed boosts to wear off. "You wanna stay out n' travel with me for a bit? Y'can fight again if we come across anythin' strong."
The Scizor nodded, and the two set off to continue traveling, Azalea trailing behind Aster looking out for danger or foes or what have you.
Aster's phone notified her of a new set of eggs coming in, so she rearranged her party to make room for the new pair, noting that they'd both take a very long time to hatch. She wondered what they might contain, and decided to go ahead and do the research while she walked.
One of the eggs would hatch into a dragon Pokemon named Axew, to her shock, and the other one was even more surprising: it contained an ancient fossil Pokemon named Anorith. Aster couldn't believe that an ancient Pokemon like that could not only be brought back to life, but could also breed like any other Pokemon.

"Whoa! That's a big rat." Aster pointed out a huge brown rat by the water's edge, sniffing around for food and generally just being a large rodent. It didn't seem to notice the pair yet, and Aster wasn't sure she wanted it to notice them; those teeth were huge and looked like they could snap through anything. They decided to attempt to skirt around the Raticate. Unfortunately for them, Aster stepped on a twig with a loud, audible snap!, alerting the Raticate to their presence.
"Heck. Azalea, y' got this'un?" Azalea nodded, and Aster stood back as the Raticate rushed at the pair and her Scizor stepped forward to deal with it. The Raticate, clearly experienced at battles, started off with a Swords Dance, then used Quick Attack before Azalea could fight back.
"Use Agility an' Bullet Punch, like in the las' fight!" The Scizor obeyed, becoming faster instantly, then started to use the Steel move Bullet Punch to strike at the wild Raticate. The Raticate was hit once, but used Quick Attack to get out of the way, and came back gnashing his teeth in a strong Bite attack. The sound of teeth on metal resounded in the area, and Azalea winced, flinching and missing his turn even with his speed boost, as the Raticate attacked again with Bite.
"Azalea, yer not.. doin' s'well. Y'wanna try n' run from it?" Azalea looked wounded, emotionally, but nodded, and the trainer and Pokemon pair rushed away, somehow managing to get far enough fast enough that the Raticate just chuffed at them and went back to foraging. That'll teach 'em, it seemed to say.
As they realized the Raticate wasn't pursuing them, Aster slowed down her run and checked her phone for the status on the eggs. Still nowhere near ready to hatch, but doing fine.

Aster spotted what she knew to be an Apricorn tree ahead and excitedly rushed towards it, hoping to get some of the fruit before it was eaten or taken by another trainer. To her delight, when she reached into the tree she found that there was still one fruit! She pulled out an Orange Apricorn and stuffed it into her bag, then checked for more and found nothing else.
"Tha' was lucky! Hey, Azalea, bud, ya see any more o' these kind o' trees around? If ya ever do, lemme know, they're where ah get Apricorns fer plantin' back at the farm!" The Scizor tilted his head, then nodded. "Ah, y'haven't been t' the farm yet. You'll love it there! An' you'll be all kinds o' help wi' those big ol' scissor claws o' yours, too." Aster chuckled, and the pair kept walking, Azalea keeping his eyes peeled, now both for danger and Apricorn plants.

A little red octopus emerged from a river and slid across the grass towards Aster and Azalea, making wet popping noises with each movement and making almost a kissing motion with its sucker-mouth. Aster saw the creature and couldn't help but want to bring it home, but she was loathe to attack it when it was so darn cute!
"Here, lemme try somethin' new again.. I got all these new Poke Balls, may's well use 'em, eh?" She nudged Azalea and threw an immediate Quick Ball at the wild Pokemon. While the ball shook on the ground, Aster checked on her eggs once more; she knew it was silly to obsess over them, but she wanted to make sure they were okay; these eggs were pretty rare, after all, and who knew how long it'd take to hatch them?

A trainer approached Aster, calling out, "Hey! You! Let's have a battle!" Aster shrugged, said, "Sure, why not?" and tossed out Iris's Poke Ball. The bird had rested long enough, and she sparkled as she emerged from her Poke Ball. The boy tossed out his own Pokemon, a very small Sableye.
"Iris, use Wing Attack!" The attack was ignored as the other trainer shouted, "Use Fake Out, Sableye!" and the sudden strike forced Iris to flinch, missing her turn. She was shocked by the attack, but after she shook off the flinch, Iris was able to use the Wing Attack that Aster had ordered moments before, striking the Sableye good.
"Good job, Sableye! Now use Astonish!" Aster and Iris knew this move well, as Iris knew it too. She was able to dodge away from the Astonish completely. "Great! Now, use Pursuit!" Aster called, and Iris did so, hitting the Sableye with shadowy energy. The Sableye shook it off and waited for another order.
"Now use Shadow Sneak!" called the enemy trainer, and the Sableye disappeared. Shocked, Iris looked around for the other Pokemon, unable to fight what she couldn't see. After a few moments of frantic searching for a hidden foe, the Sableye reappeared, striking her hard from behind. Iris hung on, giving a war cry of a caw.
"Alright, Iris, use yer Wing Attack again, ya got this!" Aster's cry gave Iris new strength, and she slapped the Sableye hard with a wing, making it a critical hit to make her trainer happy. She was rewarded with Aster's whoop of joy as the Sableye flopped over, giving Iris the win. "Great goin' Iris!"
"You're next, Wynaut!" called out the other trainer, tossing another Poke Ball. A little blue creature with long ears and a sweet grin appeared, crying out loudly as it appeared. Iris eyed the Pokemon warily, but spread her wings, ready to keep fighting.
Aster wasn't sure what to make of this Pokemon. It seemed to look pretty weak, but she knew appearances could be deceiving. "Try a Wing Attack, Iris," she called out, and Iris swung forward to strike the Wynaut with her wings. The Pokemon appeared to be hit, but didn't cry or make any indication of being harmed.
"Use Counter!" The Wynaut expanded and struck Iris back with force, doubling the power of her own move and knocking her clean out. Aster's jaw dropped; she fought the instinct to go out onto the grass to pick up her Pokemon in her arms and returned her to her Poke Ball. "What on earth?!"
She wasn't sure what to do about this Pokemon, and the trainer smirked at her smugly as she fumbled through her team. Azalea stepped forward while she was trying to figure out what to do about Wynaut, insisting that he could do it. "Are ya sure, Azalea?" The Scizor nodded, stepping onto the field. The Wynaut did nothing, and his trainer said nothing.
"Okay, I'm not sure what yer strategy is, Azalea, but ah trust ya." Azalea nodded at his trainer and started off with an Agility. The Wynaut looked a little nervous.
"Wynaut, use Safeguard!" called the enemy trainer, and his Wynaut protected itself from status effects. Azalea used Agility again, then a third time, moving faster than either trainer's or the Wynaut's eyes could properly track. Then, the Scizor used his Bullet Punch attack, and as quickly as he used it once, he was able to use it again, and he managed to knock the Wynaut out clean. It fainted backwards, flopping onto the grass uselessly.
The trainer returned his Wynaut and said, "Now, time for the big guns! Go Nidoking!"
A huge purple dinosaur-rabbit-rhinoceros appeared, roaring loudly. Aster called Azalea back, returning him to his ball just in case, and sent out Ivy. The Snivy had been napping, and woke up standing in front of a huge beast of a foe. She looked back at Aster with an 'are you insane?!' look in her eyes, but Aster was familiar with Nidoking and knew that Ivy could tough this one out. "Ya got this, Ives! Start us off wi' a Vine Whip."
The vines struck out at the Nidoking, doing some damage but not stopping him from being ready. "Now, Nidoking, use Focus Energy!" the other trainer cried. Nidoking took on a heavy stance and seemed to glow for a moment, then stopped, giving a snort. Ivy looked at Aster incredulously again, and Aster nodded forward. "Ives, seriously, ya got this. Try an Aqua Tail now."
The tiny little Snivy lurched forward and leaped into the air, spinning forward and slamming down an Aqua Tail on the enemy Nidoking. He staggered, but did not fall. "Use Thrash now, Nidoking!!"
Ivy was knocked almost into Aster with the force of the move, a critical hit, but she was okay, to Aster's relief. "Use Aqua Tail again, Ives!" The attack did a lot of damage, striking the Nidoking hard right in the chest and knocking him back a bit. He continued to rampage, but his next Thrash missed Ivy as she hopped out of the way, and he crashed into the ground. Without waiting for Aster's order, Ivy used Aqua Tail again and knocked out the huge purple brute.
"Great job, Ivy!! Ah told ya!!" Ivy celebrated with her trainer as the enemy trainer sulked away to the nearest Pokemon Center. The Snivy hopped up and down twice, then landed and began to glow bright white; when the glow faded, she was a Servine! She was not much larger, but her body was a bit longer and she looked stronger, too. "Look at that, Ives! You've gone an' evolved!"
A pair of eggs in Aster's party each gave a small shake, then were still.

The brand new Servine was longer and more wiggly than she used to be, but she was still so small. Aster didn't need to crouch quite as far now for Ivy to climb up, but she still had to crouch, and the Servine settled around Aster's neck like a short scarf rather than on top of her head. "Ya did real good, Ives!" said Aster, scratching the snake's head gently with a chuckle. "Hey, y'smell like rosemary now, that's nice."
Ivy snuggled into her trainer's neck, and her trainer appreciated the gentle scent and weight of her partner Pokemon as they continued to walk. They were nearly at the next town by now, and if Aster squinted into the distance she could see some of the closest buildings. When she focused back on the path they walked, Aster realized she could see another Apricorn plant, and she excitedly rushed over to it to retrieve more fruit. This time, she got a Yellow Apricorn, which she greedily pocketed, again looking about for more.

Seeing yet another trainer down the path, Aster squinted at them, trying to determine if they looked easy to beat or not. She couldn't be sure, but it was another Breeder class trainer, and she thought maybe she should switch her party around a bit again. The Poke Ball containing Lily the Mudkip was in Aster's hand as she approached this trainer, deciding to initiate battle herself for once instead of just being spotted and chased after from afar.
"Hey there, fancy a battle?" Aster swaggered up to the trainer, holding the ball in one hand and looking honestly like a massive dork. The trainer stifled a giggle, seeing quickly that Aster wasn't used to trying to look cool, and Aster laughed. "Yeah, yeah, y'got me, I'm not 'cool', but ah still wanna battle, if ya don't mind?"
The girl smiled. "Yeah! My name's Lacie, let's go!" She backed away and tossed her Poke Ball with a flourish, calling out, "Go, Nidoran!" A male Nidoran appeared, looking strong and ready to fight.
"Lily, come on out!" Aster tossed her Poke Ball and her Mudkip appeared, ready to throw down, or jump in a puddle, or whatever seemed fun. She landed on the ground and gave a delighted wiggle at the chilly air. Aster motioned to the trainer that she could go first, and the trainer graciously nodded.
"Okay, Nidoran, use Focus Energy first!" Lacie always started her battles this way, raising her dear partner Pokemon's critical hit ratio before striking so that his attacks had a higher chance of doing lots of damage. Aster narrowed her eyes, knowing of the tactic, but unable to do much about it as the Nidoran was surrounded by a faint glow which quickly faded away.
"Lily, try Icy Wind." Lily was pleased to finally get the chance to use the move in a real battle, not just against her own trainer or a tree, and gladly leaped into the air and summoned that cold wintery wind, striking the Nidoran with it and blowing him back a bit. He shivered, stood his ground and gave a challenging cry in return. He was slowed a bit, but not by much.
"Nidoran, use Leer!" The stat lowering move made Lily let her guard down a bit, losing her defense. "That's a'right, Lily, jus' use Mud Slap!" Lily grinned and spat a big glob of mud at the other Pokemon. She was able to shoot him with more mud before he seemed ready to move again, and it got into his face, making it more difficult for him to see to aim.
"Okay, try Horn Attack now, Nidoran!" The pink Pokemon glared at Lily and charged at her horn first, hoping to strike her as hard as he could, but he missed! "Another Mud Slap, Lily." Lily spat additional mud at the Pokemon, hoping to keep him from actually hitting her as long as possible. The two went back and forth for another round, Lily dodging from another Horn Attack and continuing to hit the Nidoran with Mud Slap until he finally fell to his belly, defeated.
"Oh no, Nidoran.. Sorry buddy!" Lacie picked up her partner Pokemon and looked at Aster with a half-smile. "You're pretty good at battles, but a bit too strong for me, I guess! You're only a few steps away from Cedar now." Lacie didn't wait for a reply, just ran towards Cedar with her fainted Pokemon to heal and rest.
Lily, overjoyed with her win, hopped up and down and suddenly began to glow, just like Ivy had earlier. Ivy awoke from her spot around Aster's neck to watch the Mudkip glow brighter and brighter, then fade into a Marshtomp!
The newly evolved Pokemon walked with her trainer into Cedar Town so they could heal and rest just like the trainer they'd just beaten.
