It had been too quiet ever since the Wormhole opened nearly a week ago now. Not knowing where the Ultra Beasts where, when or where or even if they would strike, it left a palpable tension in the air wherever Keone went. He knew one thing, though. He needed to get stronger if he was expecting to be able to do anything about it. Ultra Beasts were terrifyingly powerful, true, but destruction on the scale experienced in the past had taken hundreds. Surely if there was only one, a sufficiently powerful trainer, or at the very least a handful of trainers working together, should be able to at least deter and drive it back, even if maybe not defeat it outright.
So here he was, back on Route 7. He rode on Kalea's shoulder, as he often did, but where normally he'd be relaxing and letting her lead the way, today he was also taking advantage of her height to keep a good vantage point. He wanted to see if anything strange was happening around him well in advance, as well as keep an eye out for Pokemon that looked good for sparring partners or even potential recruits.
And so, it was from up here that he'd spot a flash of bright red not far off. Double-taking, he realized it was a person, not a Pokemon. But ah, meeting people on the road had rarely proven too bad an experience for him. Would they come this way perhaps?
Arciel was absolutely beautiful, there was no doubt about it. It had been only a day or two, but Lief was already falling in love with the place. Who wouldn’t, after living in a big city their whole life and not really seeing much nature? Lumiose definitely didn’t have the sprawling fields or forests he’d seen as his flight travelled over the region. Logically, he knew Kalos had that too, but he’d never really seen much of his region besides his home city. He’d like to explore it more, one day. For now, though? He’d found himself on route 7 after his little Eevee catching adventure, now with two more companions to cheerfully stroll along with.
He didn’t keep a single one of his three in their balls, wanting to keep them by his side as much as possible. All three were currently trotting beside him, their pie it’s high if those perked ears and raised tails were anything to go by. The boy couldn’t help but chuckle, looking fondly at them. Why were they all so cute? It wasn’t fair. Though the cuteness had certainly helped him in making his manager less angry about the unauthorized catches.
Looking around, he soon saw a person riding on their Pokémon nearby, and brightened up instantly. “Hi!” He called, waving with a happy grin on his face. Walking a little closer, he’d wait for a response.

Ah! The trainer did come this way, with a whole pack of cute little foxes in tow it seemed! Keone only had Kalea and Tink out right now, the Cutiefly currently buzzing beside-- er?? Okay, apparently she decided to land on his head just as the new trainer approached. The boy chuckled softly at her, then smiled down at the newcomer.
"Hey there~" he called back. "Ah... Kalea, could you set me down a minute please?" he requested. The Kangaskhan picked him up then and set him in front of her-- and oh wow! This guy was actually around Keone's eye level? Maybe even a hair shorter, though uneven terrain made it hard to tell for certain. Still, that was a weirdly pleasant surprise and an awkward feeling all at once, ha. He was so used to looking up at everyone.
"Your Pokemon are really cute," Keone said, then almost immediately flinched slightly at himself. No Keo that wasn't how you started conversations come on. "Er, wh-what I mean is, it's nice to meet you!" That was better. "My name's Keone. This is Kalea," he gestured to the Kangaskhan. "I think her baby's taking a nap right now, but when she pops up her name's Kapua," he added with a slight chuckle. Then reaching up to tickle the fairy on his head with one finger he finished, "And this is Tink. How about you guys~?"
That was one big Pokemon. Looking up as the Kanghaskhan set the other boy down, Lief was easily awed by the size of the Pokémon. The redhead smiled, chuckling a little at the comment the other boy made. “Thanks. I make sure to brush them every day so they’re nice and fluffy! I’m Lief, by the way, and this is Coffee, Hazelnut, and Haze!” Each of the three little ones tipped in response to their names being said, Haze in particular seeming to smile in a decidedly canine manner.
All four of them seemed to practically radiate sunshine and cheerfulness, though Coffee seemed to be the tiniest bit more hesitant than the others. However, her tail and ears still remained perked, a definite sign that she was as happy as the others.
Lief himself was grinning widely, only pausing to adjust his choker before scooping up Hazelnut, the seeming calmest of the three. Haze was usually pretty calm, but Hazelnut has proven much better at staying still than either Eevee was. “You’re welcome to pet them, if you want! Haze and Hazelnut love pets, though Coffee gets a bit embarrassed by them, sometimes.”
As if to prove his own statement, Lief rubbed the fur on Hazelnut’s head, which was met with a happily wagging tail from the little mon.
