Though Borzil now had the job of a Ranger - which meant that he had a steady paycheck to support him - he still picked up the odd job from time to time. Helping out people was wonderful, after all; he enjoyed seeing people's faces light up with smiles, more than he really wanted things like pen or rare candies in return - even if he did need at least some pen to feed himself with.
It would be for this reason though, that he'd be helping out at Birch City - in particular, helping some construction workers work on some housing for the homeless! And he wouldn't be the only one helping out, at that; Daisy helping haul large amounts of materials about with her large and strong build, and Dial flitting about in the air to keep an eye on everything.
As Daisy hauled over the latest batch of materials, Borzil would pat her on the side - "Atta girl, Daisy!" - and begin to help unload some wood; hefting it over his shoulder, and following the lead of the other workers to bring it where it needed to go. xU_yYEuJp_ (25 Strength)

Everything's going smoothly! The foreman tells you where to put the wood and explains that it'll need to be held together while another guy nails in the frame. Are you up to the task of holding the pieces together strong man?
Post by Borzil Blairwood on Jun 19, 2020 5:03:30 GMT
So far so good! Borzil couldn't help a slight skip to his step and a whistle as he moved along; clearly in a good mood. If they were able to keep this pace up, they'd have the housing up in no time! At the Foreman's direction, Borzil would do a brief salute to the older (and surprisingly larger) man, "Aye aye, sir!" smiling as he went to help set up the frame; adjusting the wooden plank that he was holding so that it was in the appropriate spot.
Once that all was taken care of, another worker would soon begin hammering in nails, so as to form a frame with the large pieces of wood; and Borzil would hold it steady, so that the frame would come out nice and straight. "How's this, guys?" bwnQfnvYp_
The guy putting the nails in the wood says that's great! Steady just like that! After a little while, the frame is made up, and you're asked to lift it so that it can be checked. Once it was lifted, checked, and otherwise, it's time to put it with the other pieces of the house that the others have been working on. Looks like it's really coming together!

Borzil had to admit - though he was able to hold the wood quite steady, the vibrations from the nail being hammered into the pieces of wood that made up the frame was quite an odd feeling! Yet, he seemed to be doing a good job nonetheless; smiling brightly and nodding in response as the other worker confirmed this. Once the frame was complete though, Borzil would have to take a brief break to shake his arms out; a slight tingling in his palms from the vibrations that the hammering had caused.
His work here wasn't done yet, though; next was to make sure that everything was in order, which required hefting up the frame! Borzil would help hold the frame up so that the others could look it over - and once everything was confirmed to be in order, Borzil would carry it over to the other pieces. What was next on the agenda, he wondered? ipSPSQeHp_
Once the frame was standing, it was time to actually start laying the brick that would seal around it! A couple of guys are staring at a truck full of bricks in the back and arguing about the best way to unload it. Maybe help them out?
Post by Borzil Blairwood on Jun 21, 2020 5:32:44 GMT
Easy, eaaasy... Borzil would carefully set the frame down in place, lining it up and making sure that it would stand on its own. Once it was as securely in place as it could be on its own, Borzil would dust his hands off, before glancing about; hearing a truck arrive, and spotting the bricks loaded up in the back. Two guys seemed unable to agree on how to go about unloading them, but...
"... Here guys, I got this!" Borzil would chirp with a smile as he approached; immediately picking up some of them with a sharp grunt, and attempting to bring them over to what was to be the wall! The only question would be whether or not this was a little too much for him or not... xwqNaa1Kp_ (+25 Strength)
The men gawk at your sheer show of strength! Somehow you make it look so easy just to lift them up off the back of the truck and set them down. They decide to resolve their differences by just assisting and encouraging you as best they can! What a show of strength!
Post by Borzil Blairwood on Jun 23, 2020 2:16:05 GMT
It seemed as though his strength was plenty enough; though the bricks were definitely hefty, (and he definitely wasn't gonna try carrying so many in one sitting again,) he was able to bring them over to where the wall would be - stunning the other workers into setting aside the argument, and to instead just help out! This would put a smile on Borzil's face - and as they called encouragement to him, he would call his own encouragement right back! "Heck yeah; you guys are doing great!"
Setting the bricks down, he would head back to the truck - picking up a smaller batch of bricks this time as he continued to unload the truck, so as to avoid overexerting himself. All the while, he'd begin whistling a brief tune to himself, visibly in a good mood for how well everything has been going so far. cbQsS0DGp_ (+25 Strength)
Your back and shoulders feel a bit fatigued. Maybe take a small break before doing more work! A kiddo with a cart of water hands you a water bottle before going over to some of the other people and handing them water too.
Post by Borzil Blairwood on Jun 23, 2020 5:02:59 GMT
Phew - this had been hard work! Breathing heavily as he put down another set of bricks, Borzil could feel a slight ache in his body; a clear sign that it was time to take a break. Plopping down in an out of the way spot, Borzil would spy a kid rolling a cart along - passing him a water bottle, which he'd accept. "Thanks, kiddo!" He'd say with a wide smile, getting up and patting the youngster on the head before sitting back down.
Twisting the cap off, Borzil would take a few gulps of water, before pouring a little bit on his head - rinsing off sweat and cooling himself off. A shower was definitely in order, when this was all done with...
Daisy, meanwhile, would plop down nearby; the large Bouffalant seeming to be a little tuckered out as well, from all the hauling she'd been doing today. Glancing back in her direction, Borzil would pat her on the side - praising "Atta girl, you've been working hard. Wanna get some rest?" At the nod and confirming moo in response, Borzil would smile - giving Daisy once last pat, before returning her to her pokeball for the time being. nxB_NfBkp_ (+25 Strength)
A foreman waves you over to come help put some walls together. While you were resting, they put the frame together and started to put the sheetrock on, but they need some help! As you walk over to help them, you find this is big and awkward to hold even for you!
Post by Borzil Blairwood on Jun 24, 2020 4:18:48 GMT
At the foreman's call, Borzil would get back up to head back to work - briefly grabbing a towel to wipe his face off before he followed on after. "Whew..." He'd exhale, feeling ready to work once more. How much longer would they have, he wondered? Perhaps halfway there, if he knew what his writer intended.
In any case, it seemed that they were starting to build the walls now - which involved putting on the sheetrock! A big and unwieldy thing, Borzil didn't dare do it on his own - he was strong, but he didn't trust his ability to keep it steady on his own - though he'd still help the best he could! Taking a hold of one of the edges, "Okay buddy, on the count of three... One... two... three..!" Borzil would attempt to heft it up alongside one of his coworkers, so that they could put it into place! Iwm|JHq8p_ (+25 Strength)
You manage to hold everything together so that the others can seal the Sheetrock in place! It's looking good! You're asked to repeat the exercise a couple more times till the walls are in. Now it's time to get some of the window panes in!
Post by Borzil Blairwood on Jun 25, 2020 2:19:27 GMT
Steady, steaaady... Borzil couldn't help but sweat a little as he held the sheetrock as still as possible; hoping that his grip was steady enough, with what was such an unwieldy thing. When the others were able to seal the sheetrock in place, Borzil would let out a sharp sigh of relief, glad that he didn't mess that up... At least, until he was asked to do that a few more times...!
Thankfully, adding on these additional sheetrock would go as well as the last; the wall being put together proper! Smiling in satisfaction, Borzil would briefly dust his hands off, before glancing over at the windowpanes that they had to put on. Thankfully, these seemed less unwieldy or heavy than the sheetrock; and so he'd help to pick one up, and put it in place! "So far, so good...!" RjX9O7Fqp_ (+25 Strength)
You're so strong! Quite a few of the men take notice and give you friendly pats on the back before going back to their work. They're happy to have such help on this kind of job! As you're called over to set the windows in, you find that one already has some chip in the glass. The Foreman has to make some calls, but at least it doesn't seem to be your fault!
Post by Borzil Blairwood on Jun 27, 2020 21:26:40 GMT
It seemed that Borzil's hard work was attracting some attention from his coworkers - something that he didn't seem to expect, and would quickly make him flustered, as some of the other men gave him pats on the back and words of praise over his strength. Smiling shyly in their directions, he'd attempt to return the compliments and friendly gestures with his own pats and praise - "C'mon, don't sell yourselves short; you guys are doing great, too!" - as he continued working on putting in the windows.
Before long though, he'd come to notice that something is wrong with one of the windowpanes - a chip in the glass! Wincing a little, he'd call over the Foreman for what they should do about the windowpane; the conclusion eventually being to set it aside for now, and just put in the windowpanes that were still intact. Following the Foreman's direction, Borzil would help move the chipped windowpane out of the way - whether it was for repairs or for replacement, he wasn't sure at the time - before returning to work, and setting the windowpanes that were still intact into the windows themselves. mgrjzZe_p_ (+25 Strength)
Once you have all the window frames set, you're called around to the side to help put in some tile in what will be the kitchen. These tiles are heavy and awkward, but that's nothing you haven't faced already during this! Take your time with it and lay them where you're asked to, and all should be good!
Post by Borzil Blairwood on Jun 29, 2020 8:33:49 GMT
One by one, the windowpanes were set in - something that put an eager smile on Borzil's face, to see all the progress being made. He couldn't wait to see the finished product, before long..! Hopefully, this housing would be put to good use, for those in need... Of course though, that required actually finishing the house first - and the next step to that was to put in some tiles in the kitchen-to-be..!
Much like the sheetrock, these tiles were heavy and awkward to handle - which meant that Borzil wasn't going to try and handle these solo. But, he was still diligent nonetheless; taking a second to wipe the sweat off his brow, before beginning to help carry each set of tiles to where they needed to go. unFT20crp_ (+25 Strength)
