Borzil supposed it'd be one of those days, when he ran into a strange shack, a ways off the road from Route 7, during one of Daisy's runs. An eccentric man lived inside, rambling on about the wonders of mining and digging around; and though Dial had nearly deafened the both of them with his overprotective and loud dialup noises, Borzil didn't see anything wrong with the guy. From all the talk about finding treasure hidden underneath the dirt, he figured that mining must be pretty fun; and this guy was giving away a free Mining Kit, too, if he gave it a shot!
And so, here he was, in a mineshaft. The lights of the lanterns that hung on the walls would cast a dim glow all about; and though Dial would still be letting out uneasy beeps at his surroundings, Borzil would simply offer the overprotective Sigilyph a smile. "It's okay, buddy; let's just give some digging a shot, and see what we find!" With a mighty swing, Borzil would begin to dig away at the wall before him; eager to see what he could uncover in the mine! aX4Cwf2|p_

So far, there was nothing to find but rocks, rocks, and more rocks from the mining. (Although, one particularly shiny piece of quartz - while technically not particularly valuable - did catch his eye, and so Borzil would pocket it. Souvenir!) The lack of any proper treasure was a little disappointing, especially for what was hard work - but Borzil figured that he, perhaps, just had to try a little harder! "Welp, let's give this another shot, Dial!"
As he wiped his brow and was about to swing his pickaxe again, though... The mining mentor would, out of nowhere, pop into existence once more! Borzil was quick to hush Dial before he begun screeching with dialup noises again - listening as the mentor gently chided him for improper form. A hand gently adjusting Borzil's stance, the young man was attentive and eager to listen to his mentor's guidance as to how to hold himself. "Ah... I think I get it; thank you, sir!" Borzil would soon smile, as he fixed his stance.
Second time's the charm, he supposed, as he'd begin to dig at the wall once more - already feeling the difference in his improved form. Hopefully this would come with improved gains; he was eager to find something! WtG6irVsp_
Match two gems to get +1 to any stat or +2 move slots for one Pokemon.
Hey lookie there! You found your first pretty item! The Gem shines with the reflection of some light, so you pick it out rather easily. Seems in tact too! Good work.

Bit by bit, Borzil would work away at the wall of the mineshaft; swinging his pickaxe with all his might. Briefly, he'd pause to wipe a bit of sweat off his brow, but it seemed that his hard work wouldn't go without reward this time around. A green gleam in the rock would become plainly visible - something that easily caught his eye, and caused him to perk up! Reinvigorated, Borzil would return to digging - excavating the surrounding dirt and rock, so as to safely extract the gem from the wall, and using a chisel to break the dirt and stone away from the outside of it!
Before long, Borzil would have his hands on a beautiful looking Grass Gem; something that gleamed in the light, and put a smile on his face. "Well would you look at that, Dial; our first treasure!" Borzil would happily chirp as he held the gem up, admiring its colors as the light danced off the facets. The Sigilyph, in response, would gently beep and bwoop in admiration of his own.
The young man would gently and happily laugh as he pocketed the grass gem, picking the pickaxe back up. "Well, if this is a sign to keep at it, then keep at it I will!" He'd proclaim; resuming digging with a renewed fervor. What could he find next, down here? IOe6yqi3p_

Bit by bit, the wall would be broken away - revealing mostly more rocks and more dirt. Dial, finally relaxing enough at the lack of anything outwardly unusual or dangerous, would settle down; beginning to idly just float about, with gentle and almost melodic beeps and boops that helped to break up the monotony of the sounds of pickaxe against stone. "Whew..." Borzil would soon huff; taking a brief break to pull out a bottle of water, and chug down a few gulps from it. "Wonder when I'm going to find my next bit of treasure...!"
The answer, it seemed, was quite soon - when Borzil eventually returned to digging at the wall, another glint would catch his eye; this time blue! This would be enough to encourage Borzil to keep digging away - and before long, he'd have his hands on a Blue Shard! "Ooh~" He'd coo in admiration, as he held the shard up to the light. This was pretty...!
"Two treasures, almost in a row; I bet this wall is good luck, Dial!" Borzil would mention to the Sigilyph, smiling rather goofily as he soon resumed digging. Hopefully, he'd be able to dig out something else...! akCzpRPxp_
As you dig, you see another beautiful treasure! What kind of gem is tha--
Just as you reach out to grab it, a shadow stretches up from the ground, and a Sableye chomps it in one go like a shadowy shark before disappearing back from whence it came. Did... did you really just see that or did you imagine it? It's almost hard to tell! Wild!

Lucky indeed; it seemed as though this particular wall was just riddled with treasure, at the rate that Borzil was digging things up! The Grass Gem, the Blue Shard... And then this shiny thing, whatever it was, that he just found! Borzil would be hard at work to carefully dig it away from the wall; and once he thought that the object - he was pretty sure it was another gem - was ready to be extracted, he'd reach out...
CHOMP!
... Only for a shadowy figure to suddenly come up, and devour the treasure in one bite! Borzil, startled, would stumble back a short distance - hissing briefly at one of his fingers having been nicked by the Sableye's sharp teeth, the tip of said finger already welling up with a tiny drop of blood. Dial, meanwhile, would begin making dialup noises in alarm - attempting to fire a Signal Beam at where he believed the Sableye to be! However, it seemed to be little avail; the Darkness Pokemon having already long-since disappeared...
For a moment, as Borzil and Dial both began to calm back down, the young man couldn't help but wonder what it was all about; it was hard to pass it off as imagination, given the sting of his finger, but... "... I suppose it figures, Sableye would enjoy a place like this..." Borzil would hum briefly, deciding to just laugh it off with a light chuckle and return to digging. Hopefully, if he finds another treasure, it won't get snatched up by a Sableye again...! lEYAxkb0p_

As Borzil got into the swing (hah) of things, he'd fall into a bit of a rhythm of sorts; whistling a tune to himself as he dug away at the wall, bit by bit. Dial would, once more, be as wary and vigilant as ever - likely due to the Sableye scare - in keeping a close eye on Borzil's surroundings for him, while the young man was able to simply get into the zone of things; simply digging along without a care in the world.
For awhile, he wasn't able to find anything new - and for the time being, he almost couldn't help but wonder whether he'd be able to find anything at all..!! However... As he dug along, he'd suddenly notice something... Strange, sticking out of the dirt. It wasn't anything shiny or eyecatching like the gem or shard he had already gotten, but it was certainly different enough from the rest of everything that he'd been digging, that it'd make him pause for a second! Carefully, he'd begin to dig around it - wondering just what in the world he had found.
Once he was able to break away some of the dirt and stone though, he'd begin noticing the shape of this strange object was.. Almost like a bone... Or perhaps, more accurately, a fossil...! Upon noticing this, Borzil's eyes would light up with visible curiosity; digging more and more to carefully free the fossil from the wall, so that he could get a better look at it. "Well would you look at that..." A beaked shape, little claws... The fossil almost looked like a bird pokemon, to be honest. This would put a smile on his face - leaving him to wonder whether Rose was going to end up with a friend, if he could bring this all the way up to Ivy Town...! They had people reviving fossils there, right?
Putting the fossil with the rest of his gains, Borzil would decide that today had been a fruitful enough one, and that he was starting to get tired. Recalling Dial to his pokeball, Borzil would pack his things up, and begin to ascend back to the surface - ready to bring his shiny new treasures home. Ending the thread here!
