Nik led Orion through the streets of Plum, past the outskirts, and along one of the beaches to the east. All he'd told his husband was that he had a surprise for him, and wouldn't say a word otherwise about it. "You got a good guess yet?" he teased as they approached a small pier. At the end of it, a handful of folks were boarding a medium-sized boat, smaller than the ferries that ran between Bass and Plum, but still very much made for a good dozen or more passengers.

Turning to Orion, Nik grinned wide. "It's a scuba tour! They take us out to the clearest and liveliest part of the ocean around here and let us explore. You like it~?"

Once they boarded the boat, the tour guide explained some safety rules. Everyone was to have a diving Pokemon with them for protection and to go get help if anything went wrong. The tour provided several options for rented Pokemon if the patrons didn't have their own, as well. They also weren't supposed to try to battle or capture any Pokemon on the tour, and the rental 'mon would only battle for protection to help reinforce that, though the tour guide admitted occasionally a friendly Pokemon had followed a tourist home here and there on various excursions. Still, they weren't supposed to actively approach the Pokemon; if the Pokemon came to them it was different. There were a lot more rules, of course, but none relevant to the plot.

The guide also showed everyone how to wear their scuba gear. They had very high tech masks with oxygen converter mouthpieces for a nearly infinite air supply, or at least until the batteries wore down, but the captain assured them they had enough juice for days and were always recharged between uses. Talking underwater with the mouthpieces would be difficult and muffled, but possible at close range, he explained. The masks also had built-in goggles to help prevent eye irritation, so they could get the clearest view.

Once everything was all ready, they set sail out into the open blue toward the reef community where they'd be diving and exploring.

Did he have a good guess yet? Orion’s eyes flicked around occasionally passing the rims of his glasses as he searched for any sign of where they were going. “Not entirely,” he admitted with a small snort. “Any hints?” He didn’t receive any. Aside from potentially “get off the island”, Orion wasn’t entirely sure what they were doing. But he trusted Nik to be up to something good.

As they approached the boat, Orion squinted. So where exactly were they— and then his eyes widened at the explanation that followed. Looking sideways at Nik, Orion couldn’t help but smirk and raise an eyebrow. “Not gonna be too wild for you?” he asked. Then again, as he would learn shortly, there were a lot of rules, regulations, and security features in place. It was a guided tour, a few steps above an aquarium, but not exactly striking out into the unknown. Heh. It would be nice, though.

Sailing out onto the water, Orion leaned against the side of the boat. He never did get tired of watching the water, and the water that day was so placid it might as well have been sparkling glass. It would be great for sight lines, and he looked overboard a couple of times to see just how far down he could see from there. Not bad. Not bad at all.

As the boat started to slow down and settle, they were once again reminded of the biggest rules, and the gear was handed out. Taking the breather, Orion tested it a couple of times, briefly assuring himself it would be fine, before shifting to tie his hair back. It was going to get a little awkward with his glasses, but he couldn’t afford to take them off, so best to just mitigate what bothered his line of sight.

[Shalin Nariya]

It had been a long time since Shalin had explored the world under the waves. The last time she remembered spending a long time underwater was during her trip through eastern Hoenn, which was almost completely covered in water. Thankfully her diving gear from her Hoenn journeys still fit! All suited up, the girl released her squad of water Pokémon close to a pier on the edge of the gigantic Plum City. Prower the Floatzel had the biggest grin of the four Pokémon, but her Tentacruel, Lapras, and Milotic all seemed excited as well.

"As amazing as it's been here, there's a whole different world beneath the waves!" Shalin addressed her four Pokémon, her voice muffled a bit from her equipment. "I'm so excited to see what's down there!" Levy and Vannifar sounded likewise excited cries, the Tentacruel splashing water everywhere with her tentacles. Classie the Lapras didn't seem as excited, her stern facial expression letting her trainer know she wanted to cut the chase and get right to the dive.

Once she climbed aboard the Floatzel, the five pushed off from the shore, Shalin leading the way. Classie's path drifted near a dock with a small ship that had recently cast off, a small group of divers aboard. Not paying attention to which way she was swimming, the Lapras crashed into it. While the vessel was unharmed, her impact rocked the boat quite a bit. Once she heard the impact, Prower approached the ship at Shalin's command, the rider withdrawing Classie. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" she cried to those aboard. "That was my Pokémon, and she didn't mean it!" While she wasn't quite sure she could be heard through her suit, hopefully her message got across...
