Age 18 Birthday April 25, 2002 Gender Male Pronouns He/Him Orientation Heterosexual Faction League Class Trainer Rank New Trainer Occupation Former Gym Understudy Hometown Virbank, Unova Current Residence Traveling | Tell us a little about yourself. How would you describe yourself? Theo grabs a seat, clicking a button on his headphones to stop the music. "Oh right at it huh? Okay, I can dig it. Hmmmm." He fiddles with the strings of his hoodie as he thinks. Avoiding the eyes of the interviewer as he does. "Kind of a deep question." He was stalling trying to tool together something that had some semblance of intelligence. It was a long stretch. "Reflective I guess? I've always heard that I was more of a 'thinker' than a 'doer' so I figure why not try to lean into it right? So yeah. Spend a lot of time just...like, pondering. Contemplating. That sorta deal." He nodded, pleased with his response. Why are you interested in the class you've chosen? "Being a trainer? That's, like, all I've known since I was a kid." Theo shifted to lean forward. Clearly more investing in this question than the last. "I grew up watching so many gym matches living in Virbank. Seriously, trainers of all sorts coming from all over the place to try their luck. I guess I fell in love with the idea of trainers before it was even an option. Never seemed like there was anything else I wanted to do." Throwing an arm behind the back of his chair he slouched into a more lounged position again. Part of him contemplated putting his feet up but that probably wouldn't be a great impression. My Dad was a trainer in that gym too. A sick nasty drummer too but a trainer first. Always a trainer first." He could practically hear his father saying the words in his head. So many battles they had held in that gym in the off hours. Training with his father's Pokemon until he got his own and then against them until he had the basic understandings. "I guess I figured what better footsteps to follow in." Why are you interested in training in Arciel? Why not another region? "Honestly?" Theo's hand ruffled the back of his hair at the thought. "Wanted somewhere to make a name for myself you know? My dad trekked me all over Unova teaching me the ropes so wanted a new. Figured it might as well be the latest and greatest." He shrugs and glances towards the window across the room. "With so many trainers coming from all over there's no better place to test yourself, right? Like, a whole other challenge than any other region. Kanto is too played up anyways." What do you consider your best attributes? They can be physical, mental, social, or anything else. Theo chewed on his bottom lip as he swept the room with his gaze, mulling over the question. He wasn't normally the boastful type but he definitely had a few things he preferred about himself. "That's a tough one. Guess it wouldn't be an interview if you were just asking my sign, huh?" Running his hand across his chin he considered the interviewer for another second before answering. "Patience, I suppose, would be first and foremost. I like to take my time. Look at things from every angle before jumping in. Guess that's why I'm starting my league challenge so late." He snickered at the thought. He remembered his Dad trying to get him to set off at 10 soon as he was able but the young boy was content to listen to his music and hang around the local gym instead. "Aside from that I'd say I'm pretty open minded. I don't judge a book by it's cover. You learn that working with a lot of Poison types. Yeah, some of them might seem scary or like they got a nasty bite but most of the time they're just understood. Maybe even scared. A newborn Ekans got me when I was a kid but it was because I went at it with fear." He brushed back his hair and lifted his leg to rest his ankle on his knee, leaning back as he did so. "Of course that policy with get you bit with People a lot more than Pokemon if you ask me." What do you consider your worst attributes? Be honest, now! This one was easier. He had heard it all before. Supportive as his father was he had an interesting concept of what was motivating. "I'm a 'slacker' so I'm told. Unmotivated. Failed to launch. I don't feel a real need to rush it you know? But that has burned me a few times I won't lie. Just life is a heck of a lot easier relaxing at home and not worrying about some bigger purpose. Working on that..." Theo shifted. A bit uncomfortable with the spotlight on him. "So yeah. Lock of motivation. Can we wrap? I need a cigarette." What was your childhood like? How was school? Theo's fingers drummed against his crossed leg as the question was asked, nodding to an invisible beat. "School wasn't too bad. Can't say I had the best grades, didn't really try to hard but made sure I had enough done I didn't have to repeat grades you know what I mean?" A shrug interrupted his beat. "I lived for after class. First thing I'd do every day after school was run over to the Virbank gym. It was always bumping a lot more after dark but I'd hide under the bleachers. Watch the trained warm up, instruments and Pokemon. It wasn't til I turned ten that my Dad had me start helping out as well. Guess he hoped me working with the Pokemon would make me itch to start my own gym challenge but it just made me want to hang around more." His expression fixed into a wide grin. Delved into happy memories he had been mulling over more and more since he had left home. He could practically smell the grunge of the underground gym and the acidic smell of a Gunk Blast. "Home life wasn't too bad. Just the old man and I. Ma passed when I was about four so it's always been the two of us. He's nice and we get along but...we differ on some views. Luckily with him touring so much with the band I got the place to myself a lot. My Mom's sister would come and stay while he was gone but she was pretty easy to give the slip and head off to do my own thing." How is your relationship with your family? "The old man and I get along well enough. We've been on our own as long as I remember so I guess he's sort of always been both parents for me. He was there but, like, he had to make ends meet for us so that meant a lot of touring and hours at the gym. But I never really held it against him I guess." Theo wiped a bit of gunk out of the corner of his eye that definitely wasn't a tear before continuing. "My Auntie wasn't ever really much of a stand out figure. She'd come by to 'watch' me when Pops was out of town but she always kinda spaced out. I'm sure it had something to do with Ma but she never really talked about it. Odd woman, clammed up around me a lot. Except to mention how much I looked like my Ma." What do you like to do for fun? "Music. Always music. Listen to it. Play it. Well I mean I'm not THAT great at the playing it part but I'm getting there. Spent a lot of time playing on my Dad's drum kit whenever he was out. Like to think I picked up a thing or two." He leaned forward to drum his fingers on the table for a moment before setting back again for a chuckle. "I'd play a lot of games. Probably not reading as much as I should. Catch a contest or a show. There's always some good looking gals at those contests." What are your feelings on romance? Theo shook his head and ran his hand through his hair, adjusting the clip holding up his bangs. "Say one thing and you gotta corner me on it huh? I mean I enjoy a bit of an amorous entanglement now and then. Can't say I've ever really held down a steady relationship. It's a lot of effort. But there are a few girls back in Virbank missing yours truly. I mean I hope at least." Laughing loudly Theo shook his head. "Maybe I'll find someone that makes me want to put in the effort. Time will tell." What are your goals for the future? Short-term and long-term. "Right now the main goal is to get some badges. Maybe take a shot at the championship if fortune smiles enough. Figure I'll spend some time working on a team. Building up some talent and making some moves. Can't say I've ever really taken a shot at a badge but I came here to try new things." "In the long haul though? I want to take over a gym. You know, big dog on the throne and representing my Poison Poke-brethren. Honestly it seems like the easy life. No walking long distances. Struggling to get a foot hold. Just chilling, listening to some sick beat and waiting for a trainer to come challenge for a killer Pokemon battle. Tell me that's not the life right there." If you could be a Pokemon, what species or typing would you choose and why? "Well a Poison type for sure. I just vibe with them on, like, a spiritual level. One that's always kinda stuck out to me was Toxapex though. It's got the right idea. It doesn't spend all kinds of energy chasing after it's enemy...okay maybe the will with a Corsola...but in a battle? Just sit back and let the enemy wear themselves out bashing into your toxic spikes. That's wicked smart." Theo tapped his temple a few times to emphasize his point. What do Pokemon mean to you? This question caught Theo off balance. He stood up to adjust his hoodie before returning to his seat. Letting the silence hang for several moment while he let the question ferment. It was never something that he had thought of in that sort of way. "I guess for me...Pokemon is my life. Has been since I was a boy. My first friends growing up were my Dad's Koffing and Grimer. They've always been a part of me and who I am. Lazy or no. So I guess to me Pokemon are partners to spend your life with. Parts of the family that will give you back ten times as much love and appreciation as you give them. So yeah. Pokemon are life." He laughed audibly louder than he should have but the statement tickled him some. At the very least it would give him a lot more to meditate on as he moved forward through his journey. Anything else you'd like to tell us about before you go? Standing and stretching out his lanky frame Theo let out a loud and audible yawn. One the interviewer couldn't help but to return a moment later. "Well first and foremost you folks gotta do something about that lobby music. It's real droll. Needs something with a beat. Get the heart pumping here we're all coming for a challenge not to get lulled to sleep with elevator tunes. No offense." Finishing his stretch Theo tapped the two Pokeballs hanging on his belt just under his hoodie. "And where can a guy and his team sneak in a nap before this whole...adventure business?" |
Appearance
Height 6'02" / 193cm Build Tall / Lean Hair Color Purple Eye Color Light Blue | Standing just over six feet in height Theo has often been a head over the crowd. His pale complexion strongly contrasts the generally dark clothing he tends to wear. He never concerns himself with tanning and it shows. His purple hair is often the thing noticed most. He does dye it and on a regular basis to keep his blond roots from showing. Purple is his favorite color after all. He doesn't worry to much about styling it though, enjoying the untamed look. The only downside is the bangs that tend to get in his eyes so he normally clips them up to keep them out of the way. There's rarely a time that he isn't wearing his favorite black and purple stripped hoodie in any weather. His clothes all seem to hang off his frame though as to if it's by design or just his thin frame he'll never tell. Aura Theo's aura takes on a deep purple hue that bubbles off of his form. |
