How would you describe yourself? He was late, he had tried to be a nice guy and now he was late. It was only by five minutes, but it was still enough to sour his first impression. Hopefully the reason would be good enough. The door opened, and the young man walked in, a plastic cup in each hand. "Sorry I'm late! It was so hot out, I just needed a cool drink. I got you one too though, hope you like iced tea." Sayu set down one of the cups, sipping his own through a straw as he sat down. "So hi, I'm Sayu Akiyama. Born and raised in Arciel. I'm a waiter at the Litten-Kaboodle cafe and an aspiring trainer. My dad is a Ranger, and my mother is a Pokemon groomer, making for busy lives which is why now that I'm all moved out on my own, I'd like to actually start a Pokemon journey of my own." The youth smiled around his straw. Why are you interested in the class you've chosen? Well, his gift didn't seem to be enough to hurry the interview alone. It was time to get to the snotty gritty stuff. "Well... I picked a trainer because they seem to have the least amount of expectations and the most freedoms." Sayu spoke, slightly garbled as his straw was still in his mouth. "Being a Ranger, a Researcher, a Nurse, Farmer or even a breeder. Those are the most like jobs, where certain skillsets get put to better use. So that leaves Coordinator, Explorer and Trainer. For a Coordinator, and Explorer a bit, you're still expected to make something of yourself. Become famous, or get your name written in the history books." Sayu explained, taking a long sip of his drink before swirling the straw around in the liquid. "But a Trainer, yeah you're still expected to train Pokemon, challenge gyms and even get into the League. But that's where it ends for the most part. There's no gym order, there is no proper way to train a Pokemon. Therefore, to me at least, it has the most freedom." Why are you interested in training in Arciel? Why not another region? "As I said earlier during my introduction, I was born and raised here. Arciel is basically all I know." Another so from the plastic cup, a swirl to knock the ice around. "It is one thing at my age to be leaving my parents, even if I'm a little late to the party at 19 rather than 18. But it's another to drop everything I know to move to a completely new region when I'm just learning how to be an adult and care for myself." The straw was angled and used to prod at the ice. "Just because I'm ready to leave the best, doesn't mean I have to leave the forest." What do you consider your best attributes? They can be physical, mental, social, or anything else. A thin, red eyebrow was raised. "So you want me to talk myself up, gotcha. Hmmm." The young man hummed, tapping the side of his straw and making a quick popping sound with his mouth. "Well, this is all in my own opinion of course, but I think I can be pretty entertaining. I'm nice enough to everyone I meet unless they give me a reason not too. I don't have much of a temper. I'm pretty good with most Pokemon." Though he shuddered at the word most. Meaning there was most definitely some Pokemon he wasn't good with. "I'm fit, or at least fit enough. I could be in worse shape." He tried to change the subject. What do you consider your worst attributes? Be honest, now! Sayu blew out a breath before laughing. "Alright. So I think I'm just average at best. I'm indecisive when it comes to big, life changing choices. And while I said I was good with most Pokemon, there are certain types I do not get along with." There was another full body shudder. "So I don't like ice types. I'm just don't like being cold, and I always feel cold around ice types. And Electric types, I'm outright scared of them. No matter what I do, I get zapped by them!" Sayu frowned, shivering at rubbing at his arms at the phantom feelings of static running over him. What was your childhood like? How was school? It was this question that had the redhead clamming up a bit, lips pressing together in a thin line and red irises unfocusing a bit. "Lonely." He said simply, hands clasping the plastic cup tighter in his lap. "My dad started being a Ranger at a younger age and was loathe to give it up. But when he met my mom while on the job he fell in love. Even though there was a twelve year age gap between them." He swallowed thickly, eyes still downcast as they looked down at his lap. "My mom had me when she was 22, and my dad was already 34 at the time. So by the time I was four, old enough to actually start playing properly and understanding what I was doing, he couldn't really join me. His back or knees usually bugged him, and he was sort of traditional you could say. It was up to my mom to cook and keep the house clean. So she'd work while I was at school, I'd meet her at the Pokemon salon she worked at at the time, then we'd go home. Dad usually wasn't there, and if he was in town but running late we would bring him dinner." Sayu paused, with his face down one couldn't see his eyes as they reddened, there was a quick sniffle before he was looking up and smiling brightly. "But I did pretty well in school, so there was that!" How is your relationship with your family? The redhead gave a slight shrug. "It's alright. Dad pretty much does nothing but paper work these days. His eyesight is starting to fail him and he had to get glasses that he detests wearing. He's always complaining they are too thick, but that is what happens when you ignore the fact you need glasses for years. And mom is doing well! She's actually the manager of the salon now, though she still has her regulars who come in just to see her." Sayu looked about, making sure that no one else was in the room before leaning forward conspiratorially. "One of them is actually a Gyarados!" He mock whispered. Pulling away, Sayu leaned back to get comfortable in the chair again. "Dad and I are still distant, especially because he expected me to be a Ranger like him. He hasn't totally come to terms that I want to do things my way. But my mom supports me, so that is all I need." What do you like to do for fun? "Swimming is still my number one favorite activity, though I burn super easily if it is anywhere but an indoor pool." Sayu chuckled, a hand coming up to finger a portion of his bangs before letting it fall. Then it was blown out of his face. "Anything that gets me out of the house really. I have a bit of a talent for si going, though nothing I'd want to make a career out of of. I more like singing to Pokemon than people. I also enjoy grooming them too, I'm not as stylishly talented as my mom, but I can handle general washing, shampooing and claw clipping just fine. I also have a bunch of hand held games I usually bring with me. Some of the games are a bit on the older side, but they are still fun." What are your feelings on romance? Romance huh? "Well, I'm still getting that figured out myself. I don't have the same amount of life experience you know? But so far, I don't really have a preference. Guy, gal, cis or trans, it doesn't really matter to me. Romance equals love, and everyone deserves love and happiness. Everyone deserves a partner." Sayu frowned a bit at this, eyebrow raised as a hand ruffled through his own hair. "Anyone who thinks you don't deserve love because of how you identify is a jerk." Sayu smiled, forcing a chuckle. "At least, that's what I hope you meant by the question." What are your goals for the future? Short-term and long-term. What he wanted to do, he figured this kind of question would be asked. But that didn't make it any easier to put his thoughts into words. His teeth worked at his bottom lip, picking at them. What did he want to do anyway? "Well, I suppose for long term is to just discover myself. That sounds pretty weird huh?" Laughter rang out through the room, not for the first time that interview. And likely not the last. "I haven't found something that I'm good at that I actually enjoy. Everything is decent, or just good enough. So I want to find my thing for the long term. For the short term," The young man gave a halfhearted shrug. "Make some friends, catch some Pokemon? Nothing too big or elaborate." If you could be a Pokemon, what species or typing would you choose and why? "Totally a dual Fire and Fairy type." The redhead winked, lips pulling upwards into a lopsided smile. "Fire at the base is always warmth, but can symbolize passion as well. And Fairies are playful, magical, but can also be quite devious, or mischievous. All of which are what I think I am as a person." Sayu nodded as he rattled off his reasoning. "They are also arguably my favorite types of Pokemon." More laughter ensued. What do Pokemon mean to you? "I imagine you must get really tired of hearing the same answers for this one. So let's see if I can change it up a bit." Sayu hummed thoughtfully, head tilting from one side, then to another. He snapped his fingers, grinning when he figured it out. "Pokemon are potential!" He nearly shouted in his excitement. If it was different, he wasn't sure. But he could hope. "Pokemon are potential, for both themselves and for humans. Working together, actively growing together, we can be so much more than we could by ourselves. But just going off on our own, or treating Pokemon poorly, and you limit your own personal growth. Pokemon give us the potential to grow in a way that we couldn't before." Anything else you'd like to tell us about before you go? "You are going to finish your tea right?" The question is asked harmlessly. The interviewer nods which has Sayu smiling. "Good, it's important to stay hydrated. Make sure you take care of yourself!" The young man says before he is leaving, already mumbling to himself that he should get himself another tea. Or try some of that boba tea he had seen. |
Appearance
Height 6'02" / 188cm Build Athleticly Fit Hair Color Red Eye Color Red | Sayu's complexion is definitely healthy, even as a young adult his face still occasionally gets some acne. But nothing too terrible. His peach tone skin burns more easily than it tans, which for someone who likes to go shirtless in the summer means it happens a lot. Going shirtless also means that Sayu's belly button piercing is on display more than it isn't. Typically he wears a stud or various colored beads, but this redhead isn't opposed to wearing more dangly, intricate pieces. His body, as of yet, is unmarked by any tattoos. As for clothes, Sayu will wear practically anything. Formal, casual, the only thing he won't wear regularly is a dress. Though has tried some more feminine clothing, such as halter tops and skirts, but can't stand skirts. He much prefers loose fitting casual clothes. Aura Sayu's aura is quite big, and arguably very vibrant. Red fades and swirls into pink, orange and yellow, clinging to him like a second sunset colored skin. Though the colors part from his shoulders, swirling and streaking in the ever shifting tides similar to an aurora borealis. When Sayu is subdued, so is the vibrancy of the colors, making them much more transparent. And when he's outright depressed the colors are just noticeable. |

((With Jae's permission)) - Sayu has had numerous incidents with Electric type Pokemon in the past, and has a fear of them. Such incidents include kicking a Voltorb as it looked like a friend's ball, petting Mareep and getting shocked numerous times by the static, swimming at the beach and startling a Tynamo, then stepping on a Stunfisk as he ran away from said Tynamo. Basically every encounter with an Electric type ends up with him zapped so he refuses to train them. Pokemon
