How would you describe yourself? Donnie sat uneasy in the overplush chair. He was uncomfortable in such a nice and put together room the interview was taking place in. It seemed too clean, too organized. Places like this always felt artificial and far from lived in. ”I’m a survivor, I suppose. I don’t go down easily.” He glanced over his shoulder for a moment then back to the interviewer. ”It’s about holding the right cards, having the right amount of power and knowing how to use them.” He tried to work a warm smile onto his face, he might have laid it on a little heavy. With a laugh he shrugged his shoulders and closed his eyes. ”And I’m a cat person.” He finished off with the most genuine laugh he could muster up. Why are you interested in the class you've chosen? He ran his tongue over his lips as they seemed so dry at the question. It was something he knew that had been coming but he couldn’t really say that he had come here as the latest step on his mad grab trying to work his way up the food chain. But he knew the cover under which he planned to do it. ”I’ve wanted to be a trainer since I was a boy. I did some training myself over in Alola. Figured this would be a great new start for myself. Bunker too. It’s always good to give yourself a challenge and I hear your Gyms are the best.” He offered a more polished smile this time. He had been operating as a trainer for years but he knew the bigger game was outside of Gym battles, they worked more like a tool to step along his own progress. Why are you interested in training in Arciel? Why not another region? ”Why not?” He said through a snicker. ”Arciel has become the pinnacle of the Pokemon community. Everything that they world has to offer peaks in this region.” He held out his arms wide to emphasize the point. It really did too. Contests, leagues, everything Pokemon had to offer seemed to be jumping. ”I’ve been to a few other regions. Johto, Unova, Kalos. But everyone always says that Arciel has the best to offer so I wanted to find out for myself.” He smiled again but this one revealed a more wicked nature to it. It was quickly wiped away though as it had appeared, not wanting to cause any concern. What do you consider your best attributes? They can be physical, mental, social, or anything else. ”I can be innovative. Pretty quick on my feet if you know what I mean.” An innocent enough statement but the amount of times he had to lie through his teeth or improvise himself out of a situation gone south. Shoot if he had a dime for every time he had to hoof it from the law he’d be a much wealthier man. ”It really plays to know how to stay out of trouble. You know? Really keep your nose clean.” Of course sometimes you got caught. There was no helping that. But that was another reason to come here. Starting somewhere fresh where he didn’t have a reputation. Yet at least. What do you consider your worst attributes? Be honest, now! Donnie chewed on the corner of his lip as he spoke. ”I don’t always make the best decisions.” His voice was not as vibrant as his other answers. There was a ring of regret to the words he spoke. ”It’s burnt me a few times in the past. Can’t say it’s gotten much better.” It was one of the few truths that he shared over the course of their interview. But not the only. The key was to hide this lie by dressing it among the truths. What was your childhood like? How was school? ”School? I loved school. Best thirteen years of my life.” He lied generously. ”The classes, dances, rooting for the school team. Those were they glory days. Man how I wish i could get back to then.” He broke into some broken chuckles as he bounced his knee. It wouldn’t benefit him to tell them of his running away at a young age, following the ill decisions of his older brother. That he never bothered with finishing schooling instead tossing himself into the school of hard knocks. ”Just all around had a real good go at it.” His whole childhood had been rough but it was admittedly self inflicted. He could have stayed at home. Lived the high life under Mom and Dad’s roof. But he was intoxicated by the idea of a life for adventure. Watching his brother leave first made it so much shorter of a jump. It was only once he was out he realized how difficult it was. But how could he hope to be the strongest if he turned down the challenge and went back home with his tail between his legs. How is your relationship with your family? ”Real good. Story book really. Dad runs a restaurant with Mom back in Malie city. Mom helps him keep it up and running. They do good.” That much he could say for the truth. He had checked up on them several times since heading out on his own but he hadn’t interacted with them in eight years though. ”I’ve got an older brother. Thomas. He’s always looked out of me. Really just been a big role model for me. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without him.” Another true statement but the controversy of him wanting to follow his brother's footsteps was not something that he advertised. He was twelve when Thomas left to join up with Team Skull. It was a lonely year without his brother. They had been inseparable beforehand and it didn’t take long for him to miss him. It was a slow decision to join him. Leaving in the dead of night he made his way to Po Town and found his brother. He had spent three years working with the gang before they were shut down. When all the madness with the wormholes came to a head. They broke apart after that. He and his brother kept to the lifestyle but made their way to Johto. They tried to make a living working the streets of Goldenrod but they had a falling out. Thomas had an opportunity. A job offered to him working in the Radio Tower and he wanted Donnie to come along but he was hooked. Thomas took the job, Donnie headed for Kalos. They haven’t spoken since. What do you like to do for fun? ”I enjoy helping people. Just doing my part. Trying to help others.” He smiled curtly, adjusting his hoodie as he spoke. Maybe that was a little thick, he cleared his throat and looked around the room over his shoulders once more. ”I do enjoy some comics. I try to pick some up for some light off the cuff reading when I get some spare time.” That wasn’t to say how much he enjoyed running a con on people. Playing up a random persona in hopes of nabbing a wallet or a Pokemon. Or the rush of sneaking through somewhere you had just broken into. The thrill of finding some treasure you didn’t expect. But that wouldn’t help him get his license to get out there in the region. What are your feelings on romance? ”Oh, I’m a sucker for a pretty face.” A grin creased onto Donnies lips as he scratched his shaven chin. ”It’s gotten me in trouble a few times but I haven’t been scooped up by anyone yet,” He winked and let out a laugh. He always tended to be nicer to the prettier girls. There had been a few times he opted out of a job last minute because he got fancy on a good looking target. But his lifestyle didn’t normally leave room for the stereotypical romance. What are your goals for the future? Short-term and long-term. ”Really I just want to get stronger. What’s the catchphrase? Be the very best, like no one ever was? I want to build up a powerful team and use to it take on the top trainers in the Region.” That wasn’t necessarily a lie. He planned to get as strong as he could and do whatever it took to get there. Collecting the best team that he could and turning them into powerhouses to leave a mark on this region like a crater. That was the start though. Ultimately he wanted to start a gang of his own. Resurrect the comradery of his beloved Team Skull but in his own image. With a team of his own he would have a shot at the real power grab. A level only a few players can get to. Of course that was best case. He had a lot of work to get to even thinking of that point. ”Maybe retire in the country. Make a trainer school or something like that. I love kids.” Another cold smile. If you could be a Pokemon, what species or typing would you choose and why? ”I’ve always liked a Mareanie. They are cute and huggable but if you squeeze them you’re probably going to get stung.” He laughed over the top playing the joke best he could. It was his honest answer though. He had a soft spot for the Pokemon for both it’s defensive and toxic nature. Something that he resonated with even if only on a subconscious level. What do Pokemon mean to you? ”Pokemon are power.” He spoke rather abruptly. ”Our whole society is built around it. Around them. The more powerful the bigger the impact. So we team up with the best ones we can find and train them to their peak effectiveness. Therefore the stronger the team the more your influence.” He shrugged, his expression stern and his lips pursed. He had spent a lot of time in the rough dog eat dog world of Team Skull. You were only worth as much as the power you could bring to the table. He hadn’t gotten a chance to get too strong himself before it all went to hell but he had learned his lesson and come back with avengence when he and his brother had moved to Johto and that carried over to his solo ventures in Kalos. Now that he was descending on Arciel he planned to do the same. Even conforming to their starting from scratch protocol because what was the power if he couldn’t build it back up from scratch. Anything else you'd like to tell us about before you go? ”No you’ve been grand! You won’t regret this I promise now can I get that paperwork. I’m itching to get to work.” |
Appearance
Height 5'07" / 170cm Build Thin and short Hair Color Blonde Eye Color Golden Brown | Donnie is not a physically imposing person in the least bit. He isn’t tall in stature or overly muscular. Quite the opposite. He’s lean and stringy, often much thinner than a man his age should be but meals weren’t always easy to come by. Has messy blonde hair that he never styles and only bothers to cut when it starts to get in the way. He prefers simpler, plain clothes. Jeans and a tee under a hoodie. Easier to blend into a crowd when he needs to. His cold eyes and toothy grin is what normally leaves the most lasting impression. Aura Donnie has a vibrant burnt gold aura that radiates off of him fairly equally from head to toe. |
