Today was the day. While he arrived in Arciel's Birch City a few days ago and completed the interview, he did have to delay his appointment with Professor Holly because of the papers and forms he had to fill for his new job as a contract worker and clean his new apartment. Thankfully, he managed to take a whole day of rest yesterday, so with this, he has no worries with any unintentional accidents during his meeting with the professor. With that, he was now walking in front of the building's entrance and taking a deep breath, Armand rang the doorbell and opened the door.
As he quietly looked around the white-walled interior, he could tell how it has a calm atmosphere on par with his new apartment. Other than that, it would be enough to help him remain for the duration of his appointment. It also helped that he already chose his first Pokemon in advance when he made an appointment after he arrived in this city. The quicker the meeting, the quicker he has to leave without any hiccups. Seeing that the professor herself hasn't arrived yet, all he can do was to wait patiently until she arrived. If she did, he turned towards her in his neutral expression.
"Professor Holly, correct?" He asked. "My name is Armand Leclair. I'm sorry again for delaying my appointment with you."
The lab was quiet this time around, with only a few lingering assistants here and there studiously and quietly going over research notes. From time to time one would glance up, give Armand a lingering stare before deciding that he was already being seen to and going back to their assigned work. It seems that despite the calm atmosphere, the staff keeps busy enough. As far as pokemon, there are none; either they were relegated to corrals outside, or there were none that were being observed and cared for. It was a mystery where his partner pokemon was at this moment.
The Professor herself arrives only a few moments after Armand; though he might have delayed his arrival to the lab for his starter, it was apparent that she would not show him the same. Her expression is neutral, businesslike, and she arrives carrying a small box which can only be assumed is holding the chosen partner pokemon.
She makes her way to a table whereupon a clipboard with papers and scribbled names lays. The box is set down and opened, revealing a single lone pokeball, and she makes to take the board up and peer at it with her glasses glinting in the light.
"You are correct. Armand Leclair, I presume? I have your partner pokemon here." Setting down the clipboard, Holly turns to the pokeball and takes it out of the case. She presses the release button on the capsule, and the creature within bursts forth in a flash of red light...

After Professor Holly arrived, Armand stood and approached her just as she picked up a Poke Ball from the case. He still retained his calm composure, but he couldn't help but to feel nervous at the thought of meeting his first Pokemon. In his honesty, he vowed that he will become a trainer after he graduate from high school so he could finish his studies before taking on an arduous task of raising and caring Pokemon on his journey. So just seeing the Poke Ball in person rather than a glimpse of it in several battle videos he watched as a child.
It wasn't until he saw the Pokemon inside. As he expected, it was a Litwick, a Pokemon he chose that not only fit his preference, but also a bit versatility for his battles. But to his surprise, the said candle Pokemon seemed to be a bit huge than he imagined. Heck, it might a bit larger than an average-sized Pikachu. Despite his initial shock, he didn't hesitate to carry the young Pokemon as he let out a quiet "Wick" cry.
"I never expect him to be huge than a normal Litwick. He's perfect. Merci beaucoup, Professor." He bowed to Holly as a sign of acceptance towards his first Pokemon. After that, he turned to his Ghost/Fire-type and said, "As for you, I already thought up a name for you. How's Violet sounds to you?"
His grandfather's friend used to have a Litwick, so after hearing a story about it, he had to study more about it's species. When he saw it's appearance, he got an idea of that nickname after the color of it's flame. So it might be a perfect fit for his Litwick, which something he was happy about.
Armand's shock was to be expected. In Arciel they had a wide variety of size variants for the pokemon here, which generally came as a surprise to tourists and new arrivals alike. There were some pokemon that just weren't expected to be overtly tiny or huge, so she could see how he was surprised.
She gave a nod at his thanks and observed the interaction between man and pokemon with a critical eye. The first meeting between trainers and their partners usually spoke a lot about the bond going forth, and she tended to pay more attention to this over anything else. It seemed that the Litwick was taking to his new trainer nicely, and any initial awkwardness that usually came with the uncertainty of first meetings seemed hardly noticeable.
"A fine name. I can tell you've been thinking over it for some time." Most new trainers either didn't name their pokemon straight away or at all. While it wasn't an important necessity, it did help to deepen the bond between a trainer and their pokemon.
Once Holly was certain that the pair had gotten along all right, she moved over to a smaller satchel containing a stash of supplies. "These will help you to start your journey." She handed them off and looked to Armand again, giving him an appraising look up and down.
"Do you have any questions for me, or would you like to head out?"

Some time, huh? Now that she said this, Armand couldn't help but smile at that comment before he let out a sigh.
"Let's just say I've been inspired by someone I looked up to."
That wasn't much very vague, but considering how long he has to endure years of schooling just to get to this point. And now he was in Arciel after the announcement of the Grand Tournament and got a job without any hitches, he knew this was just the start of his new journey as a Pokemon trainer.
After he accepted the satchel from the professor, he nodded no to her question, satisfied at what he just obtained. He felt that he overstayed his welcome here and he has to get back to his apartment.
"That will be all, thank you, Professor Holly. Now if you excuse me, I will take my leave."
With that, he left the lab with Violet in tow. Starting tomorrow, he will start his job as a contract worker and a trainer and now with a Pokemon by his side, his Pokemon journey was about to begin.
