Entering the Training Grounds, Aster wandered around alone, looking for the perfect spot to train with her Pokemon. She wanted to get some of her newer Pokemon to get along with her older Pokemon, she wanted to train her newly-hatched Pokemon a bit so they'd be strong enough to travel with her, and she wanted to teach some of her older Pokemon some new moves. Once she found a nice, open area with low grass, few stones, and no trees, Aster released her team from their Poke Balls: Ivy the Snivy, Rafflesia the Bulbasaur, Clover the Mareep, Lily the Mudkip, her new Oddish, and her new Litwick. She would swap her Pokemon around a bit later, after everyone here had been thoroughly trained to her liking, so she could work with the other newly hatched and captured Pokemon she had.
"Alright, everyone! We're in the Training Grounds. I have a few concrete goals for y'all, but I also want y'all to get t' know each other and mingle a bit, alrighty?" Ivy, Rafflesia, Clover, and Lily looked at each other and laughed a bit, having been Aster's Pokemon for a while yet and knowing each other fairly well, while the new Oddish and Litwick avoided making eye contact with each other or the other four. Aster smiled and shook her head; hopefully, by the end of all this, everyone would get along as well as her original team.
"Alright, so, first off: Ivy, come on over here, I gotta new move I wanna teach ya." Ivy bolted over and flopped down in front of Aster, ready to learn. "So, I got a few books to teach y'all some new moves, and this'll be the first one: Ivy, y'get t' learn Aqua Tail." Ivy tilted her head, unsure of how Aster was going to teach her how to do an attack. She had learned all of her current moves naturally, by growing and figuring them out on her own, but she didn't feel like she could do a Water attack..
"Okay, it says here, first, th' Pokemon's gotta visualize water." Ivy squinted at Aster, then shrugged, closed her eyes, and concentrated on the idea of water. How it was splashy and wet and good to soak into her feet. "Okay, next, it says to try n' concentrate that energy into yer tail."
Ivy wasn't sure how to do that. She opened her eyes, looked at her tail, thought water thoughts at it, stared as hard as she could and thought water thoughts, but nothing happened. The other Pokemon were all sitting around watching; Litwick was near Oddish, both of which stayed far away from Raff, Lily, and Clover. The three of them were sitting nearly in a pile, watching their friend and encouraging her silently.
"Hm.. Just try.. thinkin' about the ocean, and how big n' strong it is, and then like.. focus on yer tail at the same time. I'm not sure what t' tell ya." Ivy tried that, still staring hard at her own tail, at the big leaf on the end and the point that was the end of her body, but still, nothing happened. "Okay.. then maybe just try thinkin' hard 'bout the ocean an' just.. wavin' yer tail?"
This seemed to do something. Ivy thought about the ocean and water and how powerful the water could be and gave her tail a swish, making a few droplets of water appear and fall to the ground. She opened her eyes and saw the other Pokemon staring at her, wide-eyed, and realized that she'd done.. something.
"That's great! You made some water! Now, try it again!" The tiny Snivy did the same thing, thinking about water and waving her tail, and created a bit more water the second time. She decided to keep trying for a bit, making a little more water each time, then realized that if she arced her tail around in front of her and turned her body while she did so, she could make even more water, and it was almost an attack! Excited, the Snivy tried just swiping her tail a certain way, forgetting to even think water thoughts, and it worked! She splashed Aster all down the front, but Aster was so proud she wasn't even mildly perturbed by being soaked. "Good job, Ives! Could ya maybe practice it over there, though, an' not on me again?"
Sheepishly, Ivy moved over to where there was a few tall plants, and she practiced soaking those plants with her new move, swiping her tail in different arcs to produce more or less water, and sometimes cutting through one of the plants and surprising herself with the strength of the water.

Next, Aster decided it would be a good idea to focus on having her team work together in different combinations than they were used to, maybe to battle each other? Or.. She had an idea and dug into her bag, finding two differently colored socks, and moving from one side of the area back to the other, tying the green sock to a low tree branch on one side and tying the orange sock to the top of a bush on the other side, at around the same height. She moved back to the middle, where her puzzled Pokemon sat, staring at her quizzically.
She called Ivy back. "D'ya think ya got that move down?" she asked the Snivy, who nodded. "Would ya mind bein' swapped out for a bit, so ya can rest? I'll bring ya back out later, don't worry." Ivy thought about it, decided she could use a nap after all, and nodded. She was returned to her ball, which was sent back to Aster's PC and swapped with another ball, which she promptly released. It was her freshly caught Pidgey, caught during the day she'd caught her Litwick in that cold, cold evening. He looked confused and concerned and looked at his new trainer to see if she was insane or if she was actually expecting him to fight all of these Pokemon, but then he recognized the Mareep that had subdued him and realized that the must be his new teammates.
"Okay, so I thought this might be better than making y'all fight each other to grow bonds. What do y'all say to a little game of Capture the Flag? I used t' play with m' siblings back home, when we were all kids, an' it was an excellent team buildin' exercise." All of her Pokemon stared at her blankly, not having a clue what Capture the Flag was. At all.
"...Okay, tha's fine, I can explain! So. Y'see those socks I tied up to th' tree there, an' the bush there? Those are the 'flags' that must be captured." She stopped as Raff reached his vines towards the closest flag, wanting to just grab it now and win. "No, Raff, y'can't jus' grab it now, y'gotta play the game. Hang on an' lemme explain all the rules." The Bulbasaur withdrew his vines, sagging slightly in disappointment.
"Okay. So ya got these two flags. You'll be set up in teams o'three, since that's all I can have out at once, an' what ya gotta do is startin' out by your base, that's where yer flag is at right now, you'll make yer way t' the other side's base without gettin' 'knocked out', not ACTUALLY knocked out but just 'hit', an' then ya gotta try to get their flag and take it back to yer own base wi'out them gettin' yer flag back t'their base first! Does that sound like fun to y'all?"
Aster's Pokemon still looked a bit confused, but Aster chuckled. "It'll make more sense when yer actually playin'. I'll be watchin' to referee an' make sure everythin's fair, naturally."

"Now that y'all know how to play, Raff, Clover, you're my team captains. You two get t' pick who ya want on yer teams, one at a time."
Rafflesia stood up proudly, looking at Clover, who had puffed out her wool so she looked even bigger than usual. Raff decided to let Clover decide first. The Mareep looked down the line of Pokemon she had to choose from, only one of which she knew well, and she pointed at the Litwick with her tail. He looked slow, but tricky, and would probably be helpful. Surprised, the Litwick moved over to stand next to Clover, as Raff poked Lily with a vine, causing her to hop over delightedly.
Next, Clover chose the new Pidgey, forcing Raff's final choice to be the baby Oddish, who seemed to be already having fun and danced over to her new team, shaking her leaves with delight.
"Okay, good, y'all did real good choosin' teams. Now, Clover, you get the bush, and Raff, you get the tree." That made Clover's team flag the Orange team and Rafflesia's team the Green team. "Alrighty, now, are y'all ready?" Aster was answered with a chorus of noises confirming the excitement of the new game. "Then, get over t' yer bases and wait for my signal to go!"
In a flurry of activity, all six Pokemon scrambled to get to their respective bases as quickly as they could. Chuckling and shaking her head, Aster decided to give them all a few moments to compose themselves after she confirmed they were where they should be, and then finally she yelled out, "Alrighty! On yer marks, get set.. Go!"
It seemed that in the spirit of competition, all of Aster's Pokemon were excited to play, and everyone rushed away from their bases, charging straight at the other base, and all clashed in the very center of the field. Litwick got there last, but he used Astonish to stop Lily in her tracks as she tried to break away from the pack to make a mad dash for the Orange base. Pidgey flew up over the group and tried to dive forward as quickly as possible, but Rafflesia snatched him with his vines and pulled him down to the ground. Clover was squared up with the baby Oddish, who seemed to be pretty ready to do this despite only having been born nearly a week ago; the Oddish used Absorb, but Clover was able to withstand that attack with no problems and lashed out with a Thunder Wave to stop the Oddish from advancing any further.
With only two Pokemon not fully tied up, Litwick and Clover, the Green team looked like it was in dire straits; however, Rafflesia decided to even the field by literally throwing Pidgey back at the Orange base and wrapping his vines around Clover, knowing how strong she was. She shocked him in return, using his vines to carry the charge, but it wasn't enough to make him let go. Unfortunately for Rafflesia, he didn't think that Litwick would be able to make it to the Green Base while everyone else was stuck, and that exact thing happened; the little candle Pokemon managed to get nearly to the base before Oddish shook off the Paralyzation and flung herself at him, but he used Confuse Ray to throw her off, then Minimize to keep himself to being such a small target that nobody else noticed him over there. He got the Green Flag, then started to make his way back. A Fire Spin knocked Rafflesia off of Clover; he noticed the flag with a jolt of surprise, and Clover snatched it from Litwick and bolted to the base, Cotton Sporeing anyone that got near her until she made it, panting but triumphant. The Orange team had won!
"Good job! Y'all did real good for yer first game! Raff, d'ya wanna know why y'all lost?" Rafflesia and his team didn't seem dejected at all, but he nodded eagerly, wanting a better strategy for the next game. "Ya want t' leave at least one person on yer base t' keep it safe from th' other team. Clover, you too. Ya got lucky wi' your choice of teammates." Pidgey had popped his head out of a bush near the Orange base and seemed dazed but totally unharmed.
"Let's rest fer a bit then make another run, alrighty?" It already looked like her Pokemon were getting along better. Pidgey was sitting on Clover's back now, grooming his feathers, while Oddish was plopped down next to Rafflesia, tickling him with her leaves, and Litwick was poking at Lily playfully. She'd probably let this group try one more game, then swap out everyone but the team captains so all of her Pokemon had a chance to play.

Aster decided to go back to training moves while everyone else rested, so she pulled Clover aside and took out the Tutor book for Iron Tail. "Cloves, I want ya to learn this move, okay? It's called Iron Tail, an' it's a Steel-type attack. Are ya up for it right now?" Clover gave a sharp nod, eyes shining.
"Alrighty, let's go over this like ah did wi' Ivy.. So it's th' same kinda thing. Jus' think steel thoughts an' swing yer tail. Ya should try t' concentrate the steel feelings in yer tail first, then give it a good swing, alright?" Clover nodded, concentrating.
First the Mareep stepped back, away from her trainer, then she closed her eyes. Her wool seemed to expand out, making the already large Mareep look even larger and more intimidating. Her eyes closed harder, and her tail raised up, and her wool filled with static electricity.. Clover opened her eyes and shook herself, then touched the ground with her tail to release the built-up electricity. It was going to take some doing to keep her static from building while she tried the move, but Aster was right there for support.
"It's all good, Cloves, ya take yer time, alright?" Clover nodded, determined to get this just right. She tried again, taking another step back from Aster, but still feeling her trainer's eyes on her. She thought steel thoughts: hard, shiny, scratchy steel wool, smooth and cold surfaces, reflective metal. Her eyes closed as she thought, and she concentrated on the idea of a steel ball; perfectly round, metallic, cold and shiny, reflecting the light back out, and then she pictured that ball melting and dripping onto her tail. She pictured the hard metal becoming softer, liquid, dripping onto her tail and coating it, melding with her skin and fur, covering even the light ball on the end. As Aster watched from outside, Clover didn't appear to change at all, not even building static this time or expanding her wool at all; she just looked like she was resting with her eyes closed.
Clover pictured her tail, covered in metal, made of solid metal, heavy but not too heavy to lift, and she raised her tail up into the air, Aster saw, then swung it to the side. It shone with a metallic silver color, and when it hit the ground it did so with a metallic clang; Clover had figured it out!
"Hey, good job! That was it!" Aster crowed, and Clover opened her eyes, looking at the dent she'd made in the dirt, and grinned, dancing around in excitement. She tried it again, only closing her eyes to concentrate for a few moments, then swinging her metal tail into the ground again, meeting it with a satisfying clang. She remembered how Ivy's new move had soaked Aster, and she decided to take it upon herself to approach a tree and practice her new move there instead of right next to her trainer's vulnerable ankles. Clover struck the tree with her tail, over and over again, leaving big round dents in the bark. She thought that after a bit her tail might be sore from being used so much, but it seemed like coating her tail with metal protected it from damage as she smacked it into the tree, the ground, a rock she found, and a puddle she decided it might be fun to splash into with her new attack.
Aster proudly watched her Mareep running around smacking everything with her tail, and then noticed that suddenly, the Mareep was glowing. White-hot energy seemed to come off of Clover, giving off a bright light, causing everyone to stare in amazement, and when the light cleared, Clover was no longer a Mareep. She evolved into a Flaaffy! Her new pink color startled Clover as she looked down at her hands, then at her tail, which was now tipped with a blue orb, then looked at Aster.
"Oh, you evolved, Cloves! You're bigger now! How d'ya feel?" Clover looked excited and full of energy, and expressed as much with a joyous bleat. The other Pokemon expressed excitement at seeing their teammate evolve, even the newer Pokemon that didn't know her as well. She'd have to get used to this new form in the next Capture the Flag game, but that would be a great way to do it!

After allowing everyone to rest for a while, especially Clover in her new, larger Flaaffy body, and laying against a tree for a time to rest herself, Aster stood up and stretched, giving both shoulders a good pop and giving her neck a strong tilt in both directions, earning a series of small popping noises from that.
"Alrighty, is everybody ready to go again? One more round fer all o' ya, then I'll swap most o' ya out for the others, so's everyone can get in some playtime." The Pokemon were all raring to go again, and everyone had a lot of energy to burn after resting for a while. They all seemed to be getting on well now, having chattered quietly to each other during the break time.
"Cloves an' Raff are the team captains again. Y'all remember how t' choose yer teams?" The pair nodded, but Clover almost toppled as she stood up, unused to standing on her hind legs or her very tall form. She righted herself and looked embarrassed, but laughed it off and decided she'd choose second this time. Rafflesia nodded at her and reached out a vine to poke at Litwick, having duly noted how strong he was in the last round, and the Ghost-type sauntered over to stand next to the Bulbasaur. Clover, creatively, threw a ball of her own cotton to Pidgey, who caught it in his beak and flew over to rest next to his team captain. A vine snagged Oddish around the leaves and plucked her from the ground like an onion to rest next to her new teammates, and another, mostly unnecessary cotton puff flew to Lily, who danced over to stand by Pidgey and Clover.
"Ah, hang on fer a moment here, before we begin. I jus' realized I haven't given y'all names yet." Aster was naturally referring to the three newest Pokemon, who she had finally decided on names for just then. "Pidgey, yer gonna be called Russet, since yer the color of a potato." The newly-dubbed Russet ruffled his feathers, unsure of being called a potato but still appreciating the name. "Oddish, yer definitely a Radish, right?" The baby Pokemon looked down at herself, and back up at Aster, and gave a joyful cry; Radish it was! "An' naturally, Litwick, yer Calendula. Since yer a candle and yer flame is orange an' all." Calendula seemed to enjoy the name very much, and wiggled in delight.
"Alrighty, y'all, go ahead an' play. Like last time, I'll watch an' make sure everything's fair." Rafflesia's Green team scurried over to where their flag stood, and Clover's Orange team followed suit with the Orange flag. This time, the teams rapidly discussed their strategy together, eyeing Aster to see when she would give the go-ahead. She saw that everyone was conferring, gave them about fifteen more seconds, then said, "Alright, ready? Set? Go!"
A huge burst of activity came from both sides. Radish had rushed forward, but Rafflesia and Calendula seemed to be waiting by the base, while on the other side Clover stood by the base, sending both Lily and Russet forward toward the other base. Russet dodged above Radish's Absorb attack and retaliated with a quick Gust, sending Radish flying and continuing onward. What he didn't mean for was for the Oddish to fly.. towards the Orange base instead of away from it. Clover ran forward, intending to be ready to stop Radish from getting any closer, but was struck in the chest and fell down hard due to not being able to just dig in and take it like she could with all four legs planted firmly in the ground.
Lily ran beneath Russet, waiting to distract anyone that tried to stop him from getting the flag. She bumped into Calendula, who swiftly attempted a Confuse Ray. This effectively sent Lily in the wrong direction, stumbling about on the ground and letting Russet go forward unprotected. Calendula watched for Lily to shake off the confusion, ready to cause her to flinch instead with an Astonish, but Russet had swooped back to dive down on Calendula and nearly put out his flame with another Gust. Calendula moved back toward the base and the protection of his team leader.
Meanwhile, Rafflesia watched all this happen right next to his base and was ready with Magical Leaf, blowing back Russet when he made an attempt at the flag and buffeting Lily too. Lily took some damage, but withstood and shot Rafflesia in the eyes with a Mud Slap, rendering him temporarily blinded so she could rush forward and leap up onto his head, looking at Russet and motioning to him to get the flag! Russet dove down and snatched the flag in his beak, then turned back, intending to keep high enough in the air that nobody could stop him, but he was interrupted by Aster: "It's not fair if you're too high to get hit, Russ, ya gotta stay closer t' the ground," she called out. He shrugged and did so, skimming the grass and keeping a sharp eye out.
Clover had decided that enough was enough; picking Radish up in her arms, she ran forward and set the Oddish down, rolling her away gently and giving her a Thunder Wave so she'd hopefully stay down. She wanted to make sure her teammate made it back with the flag; unfortunately for her, the fact that the flag was gone from Green base meant that Rafflesia and Calendula had nothing to lose by coming out on the field themselves, and both were rapidly approaching the Orange base in hot pursuit of Russet, Calendula perched on Rafflesia's head. Lily was subdued somewhere, having been Vine Whipped blindly a few times, and Calendula aimed a good Fire Spin at Russet.
The Pidgey was trapped in the vortex and had nowhere to go so that Rafflesia could carefully reach up with his vines and grab the flag back, but Clover stopped this by stepping forward and slamming the ground with her new Iron Tail attack, distracting Calendula from his Fire Spin, then she rushed forward and slammed both of them with the same attack, knocking them away. Russet started on again, almost back to Orange base, but a very buffed Radish reappeared, having spent time using Growth to get temporarily stronger, and Absorbed Russet clean out of the sky. She already had the Orange flag gripped tight in her leaves, and she caught the Green flag from Russet, too, and made a quick getaway, letting Rafflesia and Calendula stop Clover, and since Lily was out for the round there was zero interference.
Radish made it to the Green base with both flags and threw them both down, making a victorious trill out loud. Green team had won this time!

Aster returned three of her Pokemon to their Poke Balls to swap with Pokemon still in her PC, but left Rafflesia, Clover, and Lily out. Rafflesia and Clover would be team captains one more time, not only to settle their new friendly rivalry at which one of their teams was better but also because they would be the best Pokemon to teach four newbies how to play the game. Lily, however, Aster took off to the side, as she had done with Clover and Ivy earlier at different times, to teach her a new move.
"Here's this book here, I'm gonna teach ya a move, okay Lily?" The Mudkip shot water up into the air in excitement, having almost fully recovered from being subdued in the previous match. "Alright, alright. So here, this move's called Icy Wind. It's gonna be a little different from th' moves that Clover an' Ivy learned, but should be the same kinda concept o' concentratin' power in yer body and lettin' it out, I think."
Excited, Lily concentrated her power a bit too early, and let out a Mud Slap, spitting a bunch of mud onto Aster's shoes and earning herself a chuckle and a shake of her trainer's head. "Lily, ya got so much energy in there, it's a wonder ya don't explode. Alright though, lemme tell ya what to concentrate on before I'm coated in mud." Aster leafed through the book. "Okay, it says to concentrate on arctic winds. Cold, harsh, winter winds. Ya like those, don't ya?"
Lily thought about it, then spit some mud on the ground and stared at it, looking dramatically sad when it didn't freeze for her to step in. "Yeah, yeah, you should be able t' do that yerself after learnin' this move!" Lily's little jaw dropped and she stared up at her trainer, then hopped up and down a few times.
"I know yer excited, but ya gotta calm down, okay? Listen here: To learn this attack, ya gotta stop bouncin' for a minute an' jus' concentrate fer a bit. Think about.. snow, an' winter, an' the cold air from a mountain, an' flurries o' snow comin' down around ya.." Finally, the Mudkip settled as her trainer slowly described the concepts of different cold things to her. These were examples from the book, but it didn't matter, Lily was calm, and deep in concentration. Her tail was still shaking a bit, and Aster reached out a gentle hand to pinch it between her fingers until it stopped trying to keep going and stopped with the rest of Lily's body.
Lily thought as hard as she'd ever thought in her life. It's not that she didn't think normally, but it was that everything was so exciting and she'd get overexcited and just do things without wondering about reasons or consequences ahead of time! There was just so much to do and see and.. oh, right, Cold Thoughts. Lily was supposed to be thinking Cold Thoughts. She concentrated on some of the things Aster had told her to: mountain air and winter chill and blizzards and freezing cold air and ice caked over everything and- before she knew it her eyes were open and she had blasted her trainer with the move Icy Wind, just like she was supposed to learn, but she hadn't meant to use it on Aster! Clover and Rafflesia rushed over as Aster laughed, coughing a bit from the sheer effort of keeping in some of the laughter.
"Lily, that was amazin'! It only took ya like two minutes t' figure it out, an' ya only concentrated for 'bout thirty seconds!" Aster was very proud of her Pokemon, but she was also.. very very cold. Rafflesia dug into her bag and retrieved a blanket to wrap her up in, and Clover nestled in beneath the blanket next to her to help thaw her back out after the cold blast. Lily felt terrible about attacking her own trainer, but she was also very excited about having learned the new move and was torn between concern for her trainer and wanting to dance around gleefully.

Aster returned Lily to her ball after the Mudkip was fully satisfied with the power of her brand new Icy Wind attack, then went ahead and swapped Lily back into the box along with the others, leaving out only Rafflesia and Clover, who appeared to be playing a very strange version of Rock Paper Scissors to determine who would choose their teammate first this round. As soon as Aster got the fresh Poke Balls from her PC, she released the Pokemon inside, revealing her new Tangela and Scizor as well as Ivy the Snivy and the Bulbasaur she'd bred from Rafflesia and Clover themselves just a few weeks prior.
"Alright, y'all, listen up! We're playin' a game for a trainin' exercise, an' Raff an' Clover already know the rules an' some of the strategies ya can use t' win. If y'all could go listen to 'em, they'll explain how it's done. Basically, the game, Capture the Flag, is jus' exactly that: yer all gonna be on one o' two teams, and ya gotta get t' the other base an' get their flag to carry it back t'yer own base."
The fresh Pokemon looked mildly concerned, except for Ivy, who looked mildly perturbed, and made annoyed noises at Aster indicating that she wished she'd known they were going to play a game without her. "Now, Ives, yer tellin' me you'd rather've played a game than t'go back into yer ball fer a nice nap?" Her trainer made a good point, and Ivy gave a shrug, but looked perturbed no more.
Rafflesia and Clover ran over to the crowd of Pokemon to explain the game, chattering excitedly until all six of the Pokemon were excited to play. The only one not actively making excited sounds was the Scizor, trying to look stoic and unconcerned.
Rafflesia had apparently won the before-game competition to decide who chose their team first, so he quickly snagged his daughter Bulbasaur and pulled her gently to his side with his vines, earning a joyful Bulbasaur noise in return. Clover quickly snagged Scizor, but eyed Ivy, hoping that Rafflesia would choose Tangela instead. She said something that possibly translated to 'vine buddies?' to the Bulbasaur, who did indeed end up choosing Tangela with shining eyes. Ivy sauntered over to Clover and Scizor, looking Clover's new form up and down and then shrugging, unconcerned.
"Alrighty, before y'all split up an' we start the game, I'm gonna give everyone who don't have a name yet a new name. It's easier t' keep track o' everyone when y'all got different names, 'specially when I'm doin' a bit of breedin' on the side." She looked at the Bulbasaur first, saying, "Bulbasaur, I'll go ahead and call ya Palm." Palm looked pleased with the name, and earned a pat on the head from her dad. "Yer lookin' like a Clematis wi' all those big ol' vines," said Aster, looking at the Tangela. The Tangela didn't know what a Clematis was, but seemed content with having a name in general. "An' you, big guy, yer such a bright red, how about Azalea?" The stoic-looking Scizor blinked, then gave a nod.
Soon, the Pokemon, some of them newly named, split up into their two teams and separated to go to their opposing bases. The Bulbasaur pair and the Tangela were the Green team, and the Flaaffy, Scizor, and Snivy went to the Orange base. Aster gave both teams a good minute or so to discuss their plans, then she went to the center and yelled out, "On yer marks! Get set... Go!"
As soon as it was time, Rafflesia and Palm set to work running ahead toward the Orange base, while Clematis stayed behind to disguise himself in the bush where the flag hung. At the Orange base, Clover left Scizor in charge of protecting the base while she carried Ivy on her head toward the Green base. The four Pokemon crashed together in the center of the field near where Aster stood to observe everything. The two Bulbasaurs were using their considerable bulk and thick vines to try to shove their way past Clover, who was rushing to block them both, finally just using Thunder Wave to help her slow them down and keep them in line. They slowed considerably, but did not stop. While they were mildly distracted, Ivy managed to hop down from Clover's head and sneak on by the tussle, making her way toward the Green base alone while Clover kept Raff and Palm thoroughly occupied.
When they couldn't possibly see her anymore, Ivy broke into a run on all fours, rushing at the base and climbing up into the bushes to snatch the flag. Suddenly, she was in the air, as dark blue vines emerged from the base and lifted her up. She struggled in the vine, using her new move Aqua Tail to try to distract the Tangela or even maybe chop the vine holding her, but she was held tight. She wouldn't give up and kept struggling, eventually managing to loosen Clematis's hold and dropping to the ground.
Meanwhile, Palm and Raff had finally gotten through Clover and were at the Orange base, trying and failing to get past the big Scizor standing in front of it. His claws were a blur as he blocked every single one of their vine strikes and attempts to snag the flag. Clover, on the other hand, decided to trust Azalea and went to check on Ivy since it had been longer than it should have to just grab a flag and come back.
Aster watched as Clover approached the Green base and vines came out of seemingly nowhere to grab at her and stop her getting close enough. Ivy had just now gotten loose and was getting up off the ground, and greeted Clover to let her know this was what had stopped her. Clematis seemed to be everywhere at once. Clover decided that enough was enough and used Charge, then Thunder Shocked the whole mass of vines she could see, causing the vines to withdraw enough to literally pick up Ivy and fling her up into the bush. The Snivy snatched the flag as she went by it and hit the ground, running back toward the Orange base as fast as her little legs could carry her. Clover followed close behind to keep an eye out, and at the last moment the pair swung around to go the long way and avoid being seen by the rest of the Green team at their base.
Clover gave Azalea some kind of predetermined signal, a wave and a flash of her tail, and he suddenly struck back at the Bulbasaurs just enough to knock them away, where he had only been defending against their blows before. His Bullet Punch was very effective at blowing them back and out of the way, and Ivy leapt up to the tree to tie the Green flag to the branch, securing victory for Orange team!

Aster congratulated the Orange team group, picking up Ivy to let her perch in her spot on her head like usual and shaking hands with Azalea's claws. She told the Green team how proud she was of that strategy, sending the two bulky Pokemon forward to fight while the sneaky one hung back and tried to defend! It was a wonder it hadn't worked, she thought, but she knew Ivy and Clover were such a good team they'd have found a way no matter what. She hoped that everyone would get along better and better as she had them run through these training exercises.
"So, is everyone good an' tired?" Aster's Pokemon all agreed. The Green team, the two Bulbasaur and the Tangela, seemed okay with having lost, what with all of the effort they'd put in either way, and with how strong the new Scizor seemed to be! They were content with their lot, and the Orange team, the Flaaffy, Snivy, and Scizor, weren't gloating about it or lording their victory over the others. They were humble and just as tired as everyone else, save for Azalea, who had honestly barely moved from his spot. "Alright, then, let's go home." As tired as everyone was, this was met with sounds of complaint from everyone.
"We can come back another time an' do a different game, if y'all want. I had a lotta fun watchin' y'all play, an' maybe I can even join in with y'all when most of ya're bigger!" The Pokemon all laughed, and Aster returned everyone to their Poke Balls and returned the balls to her bag. Even Ivy, whose company she'd appreciate for the walk back to town, was too tired to go outside of her ball this time. Aster packed up, retrieving both flag-socks from the tree and stuffing them back down into her bag. She reflected on how good the day had been and tried to think of other possibilities for games she could suggest for next time as she shouldered her pack and walked on back to town.
