Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
On a sunny morning near the north gate of Birch City, the leaves of the trees and bushes and the grassy ground wave around as a large sun shines above the rolling hills. While Armand was a bit relieved of the clear weather, he has some other worries lately. Looking down, he saw a black and red egg around his arms, which he could feel the warmth around its shell. While he was grateful to his family friend for this gift, he has an uneasy feeling about it. He couldn't tell why, but he couldn't do anything but to keep it warm until it hatches.
That aside, he checked on his phone for his next job. It was not a delivery request this time, but he needed to Cedar Town if he wanted to take that job. Unlike last time though, he was expecting to catch some Pokemon as well as to train his Litwick for any future battles that await for him since he has no deadline this time. If he wanted to challenge the Pokemon Gyms here, he might as well get started on his journey for real. Who knows? This egg might contain a powerful Pokemon to fight alongside Violet.
Once he checked with the details on his phone, he took a deep breath and started walking towards his destination.
For a few hours since he left the north gate from Birch City, he spent most of his time admiring the grasslands and plains while briefly stopped walking to take a closer look at the Pokemon grazing passed him. The more Pokemon he saw, the more times he had to smile. In his honesty, he expected to travel several forests, grasslands, beaches, and many more routes and lands once he arrived here. But now that he saw everything in person, he knew that everything he worked for was worth it.
However, even if he spent some time walking through the route, he did have some time to stop and take a rest on a nearby tree. This gave him time to check not only on his phone's GPS for his current location but also on his egg that was still on his arms. He tried his best to stay cautious on where he was walking so he could avoid dropping it. Thankfully, his diligence and patience were enough to keep it in one piece. So far, he could feel the egg was still warm and at this rate, he might able to meet his new partner soon.
As he stored his egg into his bag, something fell on his head as he flinched at the pain. As he rubbed his head, he looked down and noticed what fell on him.
"An Apricorn?" He muttered as he picked a strange green hard fruit from the ground. He took a few seconds to examine it, surprised at its appearance. "Huh. Even Arciel has Apricorns like this one. Still, it might be useful in the near future. I think I'll keep it for now."
He then stored the Green Apricorn into his bag and after a few minutes of rest. He got up and left the shaded tree to resume his journey.
Later as he passed through one of the scattered rivers, Armand stopped and checked his phone's GPS again before he looked up. He could tell from the direction of the sun that some time has passed since he left Birch City for Cedar Town and so far, he was a bit exhausted from walking a few miles away from where he started. More importantly, he could feel from his bag that the egg was getting warmer as time has passed. He knew it was almost time, so he had to take a break on another shaded tree and prepare the egg for its eventual hatching.
But just as he could do so, he heard something not afar from where he was. Closing his eyes, he focused his ears to hear a bit clearer, which he learned that someone seemed to be singing a beautiful melody. From what he knew, he didn't see any trainer or any person passing him by, so where did it come from. Curious, he slowly followed the source of the melody while keeping his bag close to his chest to protect the egg.
Once he arrived at the source, Armand's eyes widened as he saw a large blue Pokemon with a shell on its back as it sang the same melody he heard earlier.
"O-Oh my... A-A Lapras... A real-life Lapras with my very own eyes..."
Hiding on a nearby boulder, he was amazed at this unbelievable encounter. If he recalled from the books, Lapras was known to be elusive to trainers and just the sight of it in the flesh made his heart almost skipped a beat. What's even more amazing was not only its size, but it could sing a calming song that easily soothed his heart. Just as he could observe at it more, he unwittingly kicked on some stones onto the boulder, creating a noise that was enough to gain attention from the mysterious Pokemon.
"U-Um..."
He groaned at his small mistake as he slowly revealed himself to the Lapras.
"B- I mean, hello. I just want to say..."
Before he could finish, the Lapras sprayed a small stream of water from its mouth to his face,. It then laughed as Armand found himself soaked from top to bottom. He could tell that despite its appearance, it has a cheeky personality. But he could also tell it didn't have any ill intent onto him. But he did see that it was about to leave.
"Hold on! I'm not going to hurt or battle you. Besides, I'm here because of your song."
The blue Pokemon stopped and stared at the man skeptically. He knew from what he heard on the internet that its species were almost hunted down to extinction until preservation groups and police stepped in to stop the hunters from capturing them. So it was no surprise to him that it might be suspicious with his words. However, he was telling the truth, and to prove it, he pulled out his Poke Balls including Violet's, and slowly put them down on the ground away from him and Lapras.
"See? I know you're nervous about me, but I assure you that mean no harm."
It tilted its head in confusion in response to his words. But eventually, it loosened up and curiosity approached the black-haired trainer. Happy with this, Armand slowly approached them and put his right hand over its head.
"Thank goodness. If I have to guess, you must be a female Lapras, am I correct?"
To his surprise, the Pokemon nodded yes as he let his hand go. He didn't have to use his Telepathy, but he just had to guess based on its voice and how it behaved. Though all in all, he had to rely on luck the most since not every guess he had was correct.
"I see. Then this makes things a bit more easy for me to identify you."
He did want to battle a Pokemon and capture them. But not this one. Even if he did, there was no way his Litwick would survive the bout. So all he could was to sit down near his Poke Ball and stared at the Pokemon.
"If it's okay for you, I would like to hear your song up close."
The Lapras stared at the young man in a few seconds. Then, without a word, it swam a few feet away from Armand and began singing. Much to his delight, the song she played was nothing more magical and soothing to his ears. Just hearing her melody made him remind of the songs that his grandfather played on his harmonica and ocarina when he was a child. As he continued to listen to the song, his eyes started to grow heavy, and yawned. And as a minute passed, he slowly drifted off into a deep sleep.
-----
"Armand, is something the matter?"
He sighed.
"No, it's nothing, Grandpa."
"Young man, may I remind you..."
"Oh, right. Sorry. But I don't know about this. Can I even master these powers without hurting someone?"
"It's all up to you. All you should know that with great power comes great responsibility. As long you know what's right and wrong, you will able to master it someday with my help. I promise."
A promise. That's what he made to him before he graduated. He wondered how his grandfather was doing. He hoped that he was o-

SPLOSH!!!
"H-Huh?! What?!"
Armand's eyes opened wide as he looked around the field. To his surprise, not only did he found himself soaked in water again, but he noticed that the sun seemed to disappear, leaving a blue sky above him.
"W-Was I asleep? B-But for how long..."
Worried, he checked on the ground to see if somehow stole his Pokemon or items. But to his relief, most of them were accounted for. However, as he turned around, he saw that the blue sea Pokemon was now closer to him as she stared at him in curiosity.
"I'm sorry. I'm guessing that I was so focused on your song that I forgot that move's effects," he said as he stood up and squeezed most of the water from his jacket and shirt. "But you were amazing. Even before I slept, your song was terrific and beautiful. That's something that I just can't hide it."
Upon hearing his praise, the Lapras cried happily as she splashed some water with her fins in glee, which caused him to back away to avoid getting wet again.
"I know this is a tall order for me to you, but are you willing enough to join me on my journey?"
He already vowed not to do so for the sake of this beautiful creature. However, if she has her permission, he might do so without hurting her.
"I'm not only traveling to become stronger and battle strong trainers, but I'm hoping that you might share your song to me, my Pokemon, and to my acquaintances and family. I promise you in return, I will protect you from any criminal and hunters who will hurt you. I promise."
After he said this, he waited for her response as she stared at the trainer for a few seconds. However, she just swam away a few meters and stopped before she cried out to him as her eyes fixed on him. He has no idea why, but he has some few guesses based on her actions.
"So you will decide by letting me catch you, right?"
The Lapras cried again, which hinted him that he might be right. Once he realized this, he picked up one of the Poke Balls and pressed the button to grew into the size of a baseball.
"Alright. Here goes..."
He then tossed the Poke Ball towards the sea Pokemon and waited to see if she was captured or not.

Note: Attempting to capture Lapras with a Poke Ball by befriending it
As he watched the ball shook three times on the river, Armand began to sweat a bit, worried that if this sea Pokemon might refuse his invitation. But to his surprise, the ball stopped shaking and let out a click, signifying the success of his capture.
"I-I did it?" He muttered as he stared at his Poke Ball for a few seconds, which his shock slowly changed into delight as his realization sank in. "I did it... I captured my first Pokemon..."
As he took a few seconds to regain his composure, he then used his telekinesis to mentally lift his Poke Ball from the river and moved it back onto his hand for him to take a closer look at his new partner.
"I'm guessing that's a yes from you, huh?" He then tossed his Poke Ball to let his newly captured Lapras out as she cried happily at the sight of her new trainer. "As promised, I'll make sure to keep you safe from danger. Since your song has the power to soothe everyone's hearts, I think a name like Melodie should suit you. What do you think?"
He was hoping a nod should suffice from her. But instead, she sprayed another stream of water from her mouth to his face, much to his dismay. Yet as he looked at her face, he noticed how happy she was after that strange reaction from her.
"So you like that nickname, huh? Then okay, Melodie, it is. I hope we can get along."
The blue Pokemon responded by leaning her head to him, which he petted it gently. However, he stopped when he noticed something glowing behind him. When he looked down, he gasped to see that his bag was starting to flicker a faint white light.
"Oh, no... I was so focused on Melodie that I forgot about the egg!"
Without any thought, he grabbed the rest of his Poke Balls from the ground and took out the egg while he stored them in as it continued to flicker before he tossed the remaining ball from his hand, which released his Litwick.
"Violet, can you use your flame to keep the egg warm? I'll try to get some of my spare clothes as soon as I can."
Realizing what he meant, Violet cried and slowly approached the egg as he let the flame on his head warm it as instructed. As for Armand, he took out his spare shirt and wrapped it below the egg before he gently wrapped his arms around it.
"Alright. this should be enough. Now we have to wait."
With that, the black-haired trainer and his Litwick stared at the flickering egg while Melodie tilted her head as she stared at it. After a minute, the egg began to shake as the light around it intensified. Eventually, the egg started to crack and began to glow brightly as something came out of it. Once the light died out, it revealed a small canine Pokemon with short, black fur and red underbelly. Then, it opened its eyes and saw the quiet trainer for the first time.
"Hi there."
The Pokemon blinked a few times, initially confused at this strange man in front of it. But as he sniffed around his body, it then barked and snuggled onto his chest.
"Yes, yes. It's very nice to meet you, Houndour." Armand chuckled as the Pokemon continued to snuggle him until stopped to stare at his new trainer. "My name is Armand Leclair and these are my partners."
Violet and Melodie greeted the young Pokemon with a cry as the candle Pokemon happily approached it while Melodie snuggled it gently with her head. However, the canine Pokemon became fearful towards Armand's Pokemon, but Armand patted its head and said, "Don't worry. They're just saying hello to you. As long you're with us, I can assure you that you are safe from harm. I can promise you that."
While he was surprised that a small Houndour came out of the egg and despite his slight aversion to it, he was at least happy to see a new friend in tow. And while he was a bit peeved at what his friend chose for him, he might as well let it slide for now. If he wanted to conquer the gyms and protect himself from any danger that some jobs may give him, he needed to adapt his caring and training to suit his Houndour's needs.
"As for your nickname, how's Noire sounds to you? I think it fits with the color of your fur."
The canine Pokemon stared at Armand for a few seconds in brief confusion. But he happily barked and licked on his face, much to his delight.
"Then Noire it is. Again, it's very nice to meet you."
He then spent a few minutes bonding not only with his Lapras but also with his Houndour as they enjoy each other's company near the lake. Then, as he stared onto the sky, he began to wonder as he took out his phone and sighed.
"Since it's almost nighttime, I guess I have no choice but to camp out here. At least we still got extra time with each other, right?"
His Pokemon cried in approval, which made him smile a little.
"Good. I'll set up camp and some dinner for us to enjoy. As I said, it will take a while for me to reach Cedar Town."
With that, he prepared a tent, a campfire pot, and a sleeping bag as he spent a few hours preparing food for himself and the other Pokemon while enjoying his time with his new partners.
Thanks to his Litwick, he managed to set fire on the logs of the campfire, which allowed him to focus more on tent and food preparation as well as playing with his Pokemon. But just as he can get back to the campfire pot, he heard the rustling sounds from the bushes. While he was expected that another wild Pokemon might be behind them, he couldn't tell it might be hostile or not. So he stood up and prepared himself as he commanded his Houndour to stay behind him while his Litwick and Lapras also stepped in to prepare themselves to protect their baby teammate and trainer.
"Hey, hey. Don't need to be all aggro on me, Romeo."
As the figure got out from the bushes, it revealed a female Delinquent as she grinned and juggled her Poke Ball around her right arm. Upon seeing her full appearance, Armand sighed as he loosened his body, but he kept glaring at her.
"Can I help you, Ma'am? I doubt you seemed to be lost here."
The Delinquent widened her grin as he shifted her gaze to his Pokemon.
"Somehow. But I'm interested in your Pokemon over there. Do you want to have a go with mine?"
Armand stared at the woman, confused, and said, "Care to clarify before I jump into a wrong conclusion?"
She sighed in dismay before she pointed her Poke Ball towards the new trainer.
"A Pokemon battle, Romeo. If you got the guts for it."
A battle, huh? He was a bit interested, but he has to remember his boundaries, especially with his emotions while in front of another trainer.
"Alright. I'll accept your challenge, but only if we battle somewhere to avoid any damages to my campsite."
"Whatever. But I have to warn you I won't hold back to a handsome man like you."
Armand rolled his eyes before he removed the pot from the fire to avoid burning his cooking by accident and stored his Pokemon except for his Houndour in his Poke Balls before following the Delinquent to an open field not far away from the river.
Once they were there, the battle against the Delinquent has started. He sent out his Litwick as his first Pokemon for the battle while the woman sent out a small panda cub Pokemon. But as it did, the Delinquent was surprised that despite her Pokemon used most of his strength to Tackle Armand's candle Pokemon, it didn't seem to affect him as most of them just passed through his body, much to Violet's confusion.
"H-Hey! No fair! Using a Ghost-type is against the rules."
While there was no such rule about his typing, Armand mentally agreed it was an unfair advantage on his head. He wanted to use Lapras, but he wanted to try fighting with Violet for his first trainer battle. Regardless, he remained calm as he took a deep breath.
"As much as I want to agree, I'm afraid I need to finish this battle fast. Violet, use Smog!"
His Litwick opened his mouth and released a thick, black smoke from it towards his opponent. This caused him to cough as the smoke began to cover the Ghost/Fire-type Pokemon.
"Damn it! Pancham, don't lose him!"
Her Pokemon growled as he tried to escape from the smoke by using his Tackle. But once he got out, the Pancham gasped to see that Violet was nowhere in sight.
"Now use Ember!"
With Armand's command, Violet fired several small flames from his purple flame towards the Fighting-type. He did this repeatedly until the panda cub fell on the grassy ground, who has now knocked out thanks to his barrage of Ember.
Annoyed at this result, the Delinquent returned him into her Poke Ball and sent out a purple scorpion Pokemon before commanded her to use Poison Sting. Unlike the last battle with Pancham, however, the purple sting that her Pokemon fired managed to get a clean hit on Armand's Litwick, which caused him to cry in pain. Through Armand's commands, Violet let out a startling screech to frightened his opponent two times and fired another Ember once she flinched from the second attack. However, when it fired the third Poison Sting, the Candle Pokemon cried in pain as his face turned purple as purple bubbles came out of his body.
"Heh... Looks like your ace is now poisoned," the Delinquent declared as she grinned. "What are you going to do now, Romeo? Can't handle my Skorupi?"
However, Armand remained calm, yet annoyed at her gloating.
"It would be better if you don't call me Romeo, lady. Violet, finish this with more Ember!"
In his honesty, he was a bit desperate as he knew his Pokemon won't survive this long in his current state. But after a few Embers, the scorpion Pokemon fell unconscious as the Delinquent stared at her in horror for a few seconds. Then realizing the results, he growled and punched the ground in anger.
"Looks like this battle is decided." Armand then approached his sick Litwick as he picked him up and petted his non-flame head, much to his delight before he fell ill from the poison. "I hope you'll forgive me for what happened."
However, the delinquent growled again before she tossed a small satchel on Armand's head, which he barely dodged it on time.
"Yeah, yeah. But it won't be the same when we meet again, Romeo!"
With that, she left the trainer as he stared at her for a few seconds. He wanted to correct her with his name, but he knew it didn't matter anymore and he didn't want to attract unwanted attention. And while he was happy that he won his first battle, he was a bit disappointed that it ended with an unfair advantage on his end.

Note:NPC Battle Victory, but Violet is now Poisoned and maybe has about 4 Energy after it. Also, using the Prize Money perk for double Pen.
Once he headed back to camp, he didn't waste any time taking out one of the Antidotes that he bought earlier and spritzed it onto the Candle Pokemon, which he screamed in pain once it touched his candlewax skin. However, the purple tinge around his face started to fade as he noticed that he wasn't feeling weak anymore. Upon his realization, he cried happily as he jumped onto Armand's arms.
"I'm glad you're okay, too, Violet. Still, good job on your first battle."
Violet cried happily as he hugged his trainer.
"O-Oh... Thank you. I'm guessing you're well enough to skip a Potion, huh? Guess that's one less problem to worry about."
He then returned a hug to his Litwick, relieved that he was all better. When he did so, his Houndour became enamored by their bond, curious at what she just saw. Afterward, he took his Lapras out on the nearby river again as Armand continued cooking for dinner on the campfire stove for an hour as his Pokemon played with each other for while. But as he picked up some woods for the campfire, he stopped when he saw something from afar. He walked there and picked it up, revealing to be another Green Apricorn.
"Another one? Huh? I never expect it to obtain two of these in one day. Oh, well... I might able to make something out of these someday." He then went back and stored the Apricorn into his bag before he went back to cooking.
Eventually, dinner was finished and everyone was enjoying their meals. However, for his Houndour, Armand approached her with a bowl of special Pokemon food made for newly born Pokemon and put it down in front of her. She was confused at this at first, Noire took a small bite, and as she did, her eyes widened and barked happily.
"Guess you like the food, huh?" Armand stroked Noire's head as she continued chowing down on the food. "Don't worry. In a few days of training or so, you will be ready with the Pokemon battles."
The Dark/Fire-type barked again, this time with a determined tone as she narrowed her eyes.
"Well, I can't promise you that you will win all of the battles. But I will do everything to be the strongest." He raised his head and focused on his Litwick and Lapras, who stopped eating when they noticed that he was staring at him. "And that goes to all of you, too. I'll make sure that we will win every Gyms we encounter and join the Grand Tournament together. That's a promise."
As he finished his speech, Violet and Melodie cried in excitement, signifying their approval to help their trainer become the strongest for his sake. In truth, he wasn't aiming to become the best trainer in Arciel. But he aimed to test his limits as he can for the sake of having a fun Pokemon battle as he saw on the videos.
After a few hours of dinner and playing, everyone has gone off to sleep with Armand sleeping inside the tent with Violet and Noire by his side while Melodie was back inside the Poke Ball. At this point, everything was quiet as the night slowly turned into morning.

The next morning, Armand already woke up as he not only got out of the tent and cleaned his face, but he also took out his Pokemon from the tent and Poke Ball so they can play outside while he prepared the campfire pot with Violet helping him ignite it with his Ember again.
"Thank you, Violet. Now, why don't you play with the others while I prepare your food for today? Just make sure you and Noire avoid the water, okay?"
His Litwick cried in agreement before ran up to his friends to play with them. For a few minutes, while their trainer was busy with his cooking, Violet and Noire were playing chase with each other while Melodie practiced with her humming by herself. But as the two Fire-type continued playing, the Dark Pokemon suddenly tripped and fell on the ground. Now hurt from the fall, Noire's eyes began to tear up. But the Candle Pokemon rushed to her side and patted on her head, which she smiled before she could cry. However, the shell began to shake behind them, and just as they could turn around, the "shell" growled.
"Hmmm... I think it needs a little bit of salt..." Armand muttered to himself as he dug through his bag until...
"WIIIICCCKK!!!/AAWRRROOO!!!"
His eyes widened as his Lapras stopped what they were doing as Armand heard his Pokemon cried not far from where he was.
"Oh, no... Now what?"
With Melodie in tow, he headed off to the source and when they arrived, the trainer gasped to see his Pokemon face-to-face against a large purple and white crab Pokemon with two long pompadour-like antennas and boxing glove-like pincers glaring at them.
"Dammit. It's a Crabrawler and I doubt it's a type to be reason with."
As he said this, the wild Pokemon noticed Armand and Melodie's appearance and flashed a grin as he gestured his right pincer to fight him.
"Tch... Are you expecting us to fight you? Just leave Violet and Noire alone!"
However, his pleas fell deaf as the Crabrawler fired several bubbles to Armand. He quickly braced himself to endure the attack, but a stream of water blocked him as it destroyed the bubbles in the process. Shocked at what he saw, Armand turned around and saw his Lapras glaring at the Boxing Pokemon with her narrowed eyes.
"Melodie? Are you trying to protect me and the others?"
The sea creature Pokemon responded by swimming in front of her trainer and glared at his attacker. As much he wanted to pull her out, he did have no choice. That Fighting-type knew Bubble and there was no chance that neither Violet and Noire can survive it. With that, he sighed and glared at the Crabrawler.
"Alright. I'm counting on you."
Once the battle started, Armand commanded his Lapras to use her only offensive attack. So far, the battle picked up in his favor for the first three attacks with the third one being a failed attempt of using her Sing against her opponent while it used Leer and Bubble respectively. However, it then changed as the Fighting-type charged in and slugged her with a punch. This caused her to cry in pain as Armand watched in horror.
"A Fighting-type move?! And I thought Bubble was it's only attack move... What's worse is that she's half-Ice-type. I can't let this battle linger on for much longer."
He then commanded Melodie to use Water Gun again but was countered by the same move. He was relieved that she managed to endure it, but for how long until she fainted? Regardless, he commanded her to use Sing. This time, it was effective as the Boxing Pokemon fell asleep. And as much he wanted to catch it, he knew there was a chance that his Pokemon will be endangered if he stayed in this area for long.
"Alright. We better get out of here, fast."
He picked up his scared Pokemon from the ground and tried to run. But to his horror, he saw that the Crabrawler woke up and about to charge towards him. Thinking quickly, he shouted, "Melodie!"
Upon hearing his voice, his Lapras jumped out of the water and into an orb made of water before she charged in front of her trainer and used her body to block the attack. The attack was a clean hit as she screamed in pain. But she then countered with another Water Gun. With that last move, the Crabrawler fell on the ground unconscious allowing Armand and his Pokemon to run back to camp.

Note: Melodie's energy went down by 4. Also, Crabrawler was knocked out. No catch attempt.
After their brief scruffle from a Crabrawler, Armand took the time to check on his cooking and after a minute, he then approached his Transport Pokemon. Since she had to fight the boxing crab to defend her partymates and her wild Pokemon opponent was a Fighting-type, he took the time to check on Melodie to see if she was okay to continue her participation on some battles. Thankfully, he found a few minor injuries around her chest and fins. He did take out a Potion and used it to treat her injuries, but he wondered about his Water/Ice-type Pokemon's feelings after this.
"I managed to tend to your injuries from the last battle. But are you willing enough to participate in the next battle?"
Melodie nodded yes before she rubbed her head on her trainer's chest. He smiled in response to this before he stroked her head.
"I'm glad to hear that. We should get some breakfast before we can go."
But just as he could go back to camp, Armand stopped and noticed that Melodie was staring at the lake for a few seconds. From her expression alone, he could tell that she was starting to miss this as soon as they leave. He knew it was her choice to join, but he didn't want her to be homesick. So he approached her and patted her head.
"Don't worry. We can try to visit here again if you like. Besides, I don't want to forget this place for your sake."
The Lapras smiled and cried happily to her trainer. Like her, he wanted to visit here again because of an atmosphere. Who knows? Maybe it might be a good place to relax in case his journey or his job put him on a stand-still.
"Now come on. We better have some breakfast before we go."
With that, they rejoined the others as they began to enjoy their meals together around the campfire for a while.
-----
Eventually, Armand packed up his camping gear and returned Melodie into her Poke Ball before he left to continue onward to his destination alongside with Violet and Noire. A few miles later though, he was stopped by a young man in a luxurious outfit that challenged him in a battle. While he was a bit unnerved at his outfit, he accepted without hesitation. With his declaration, the Rich Boy sent out a large Ponyta. But to Armand's surprise, it wasn't like any Ponyta he saw. That one has aqua and pink mane instead of its fiery red mane. Checking through the Pokedex app from his phone, his eyes widened at what he read.
"A Galarian Ponyta? I never saw it before. Still, I think we can win this." As he said this, Violet tried to step forward, only for him to noticed and stop him. "Sorry, Violet. I think you should let Noire handle this battle. I don't want to rely on you most of our battles. But don't worry, you'll get your chance."
While his Litwick was a bit disappointed at his decision, he nonetheless nodded in approval before he let Noire into battle. He knew that she was a bit nervous about her first battle, but he knew she could do it.
With that, the battle started. His opponent started with some Tackles from his Ponyta while Armand commanded Noire to use Ember. As he expected, his Psychic-type Pokemon could only use Normal-type and he didn't want to make another unfair advantage on his side. However, he became a bit worried when the Rich Boy's Ponyta began to use a combination of Tail Whip and Tackle against Noire's barrage of Ember. The more he took some of her Tackles, the more she began to struggle to continue. He wanted to withdraw her from the battle, but she somehow nodded no when she noticed him taking out her Poke Ball. So he relented and let her continue the bout.
Eventually, he managed to win against the Rich Boy thanks to the final Ember that resulted in a critical hit, but his Houndour was now covered in bruises from Ponyta's attack. Worried, he slowly picked her up from the ground and carried her on his arms. While his opponent nonchalantly shrugged off his Dark/Fire-type Pokemon's injuries, he did advise him to let her avoid battles for now, which he thanked despite his slight annoyance to his attitude.

Note:NPC Battle Victory, but Noire's Energy decreases to 4. Also, Armand used one Potion on Melodie.
After the previous battle with the Rich Boy, Armand didn't waste any time to check up on his Houndour due to how she was badly hurt from his opponent's Tackles despite their win. To his relief, he only saw some bruises around her body, which was nothing too major that could affect her ability to fight. But he has to make sure if she was mentally okay.
"Looks like there's nothing wrong so far. You should able to get back into battle after a few hours of rest. But are you willing to battle again afterward?"
At first, the Houndour was whimpering as she felt a bit of pain around her body. But after seeing Armand's face, she nodded yes before she licked her trainer's face.
"Good. Just rest up in your Poke Ball for now. I'll call you when you're ready."
Noire barked happily before Armand took out his Poke Ball and returned her inside it. He then turned to his Litwick as he stroked his wax forehead.
"Come on, let's get going," he said before both of them continued their journey to the next town.
-----
As the sun slowly moved through the sky as time passed, Armand spent half a day walking at a normal speed alongside his first Pokemon. Of course, he did have a few breaks along the way just to rest his legs and hydrate so they could forge on without any problems. After another hour of walking, he stopped on a beach near a small jungle as he gave a bottle of water to Violet for him to drink. He then looked at the path he was walking on and his surroundings, which he saw a scenery of rolling hills at the back of the beach.
"It's been a day since I left Birch City," he muttered as he took out his phone and check on its GPS app. "Cedar Town is still far away, but I think we made some progress despite a few detours. We might able to reach it by tomorrow if we keep this up."
Violet cried happily before he drank the water from the bottle as Armand watched him with a smile. However, he noticed a shadow that enveloped them and the tree behind them. Initially confused, he turned around and gasped as the shadow began to grow.
"Violet, look out!"
Without any thought, he grabbed his Litwick and pushed him away, which several small rocks stabbed through the tree that caused it to explode and fell near the black-haired trainer and Candle Pokemon. While he was relieved that they were safe, Armand knew it was no accident. As he turned around, he saw a lone purple clam that stood in the middle of the beach. For some reason, it seemed to be a bit peeved as it seemingly glared at the trainer.
"Can I help you?" He asked the clam Pokemon, who seemed to be a bit cautious at it. Yet he didn't want to instigate a fight until it was necessary. Most of his Pokemon in his team so far was Fire-types and he didn't want either of them to get involved. If it happened, he would try using his Lapras against it. "If you're looking for a battle, then I won't hesitate to fight back."
The clam grinned before it summoned several stones and threw three stones towards Armand. Upon he saw this, Armand took out his Poke Ball and threw it in retaliation.
"Melodie, use Water Gun!"
His Transport Pokemon got out of her ball before she released a stream of water towards the rocks and to the clam Pokemon. While it managed to push one rock away and hit her new opponent, the remaining rocks made a clean hit as she cried in pain.
"Melodie, are you okay?!" Armand called out as he approached his Pokemon, which she cried in approval as she glared at the wild Pokemon. "I don't know what that Cloyster wants from us, but we have to fight."
With that, he commanded his Water/Ice-type Pokemon to use two Growls to lower the Cloyster's Attack power while the other Water/Ice-type countered with two Icicle Crash attacks. The second attack caused Melodie to flinch as the spiked clam fired 2 sharp icicles from its mouth. Thankfully, Lapras managed to endure most of them which he guessed it was because of her Ice-typing. But it didn't mean he has to rest just yet. With the Bivalve Pokemon fired two rocks next, he ordered her to use Water Gun that managed to hit her opponent. Unlike the other attacks, however, the rocks were a bit too much for Melodie to handle as she screamed and flinched in pain, much to Armand worry.
"Melodie, don't give up and endure more of its Rock Blasts! Use Water Gun two more times! We can do this!"
His Lapras cried in determination as she did just that. Unfortunately, this caused the wild Cloyster to fired three more stones, which she got hit by three of them. This was too much. Armand needed to act fast as she couldn't able to endure those attacks any longer. With little choice, he covered his ears and shouted, "Melodie, end this with Sing! Violet, cover your ears!"
His Litwick was surprised at what he just requested to him, yet he followed it just as Melodie took a deep breath. With a calm and harmonic melody came out of her throat, she sang with all of her heart towards the now confused Cloyster. At first, it tried to retaliate with another Icicle Spear. But it was unable to create more icicles as it became drowsy. He tried to fight it, but he eventually succumbed to its opponent's singing. While he was about to succumb to her song as well, Armand quickly took out an empty Poke Ball and threw it to the Cloyster.

Note: I've edited the party to the right levels after their battles thanks to Yuuks. Melodie's energy will be reduced to 4 again after this battle. Also, going to use one Poke Ball for a capture attempt on a Cloyster by battling with the Victorious Spirit perk. I'm going to do the second encounter (Panpour) after the mod call for this post.
With three shakes and a click, Melodie stopped singing as her trainer shook off his drowsiness enough to picked up his newly caught Cloyster. While she was his first caught Pokemon, this guy was his first one to caught by battling it. Regardless, not only he caught another Water/Ice-type, but he was relieved that he and Violet were okay thanks to his Lapras.
"Thank you for your help, Melodie. I really appreciate it." He approached his calm sea Pokemon and patted her head, which she cried happily. Then he turned to his Litwick, who followed next to him. "Are you okay, Violet?"
He nodded yes and let out a happy "Wick!" to his teammate, who was also grateful for her help. However, their brief peace was interrupted when they heard a loud screeching. Startled, Armand looked up and noticed a blue and cream monkey on the top of the tree, who seemed peeved upon seeing him and his Pokemon. With a quick lookup on his phone's Pokedex app, he learned it was a Panpour from the Unova region. But he wondered why it was here in the first place.
"Terrific. What do you want?" However, the monkey just responded by jumping down and tried to scratch the trainer's face. But Armand quickly ducked and backed a few steps away from the wild Pokemon. "Hey! What's wrong with you?!"
The Pokemon screeched again as it pointed at the Poke Ball he was currently holding. He was surprised at what it was trying to say.
"Are you saying that you want something from Cloyster?" The Panpour screeched again. He has no idea what it was trying to say and he knew it wasn't in a mood to let him get inside of its head. But he knew what it was trying to say. "I'm guessing that's a yes."
He then took out his newly-caught Bivalve Pokemon from the ball. When he saw the monkey, he narrowed his eyes and cried out to him with a smirk. To Armand's surprise, the monkey Pokemon responded by charging in and scratched its shell.
"Hey! What was that all about?!"
He then tried to run to the blue monkey to stop it. But Cloyster blocked his path and glared at his trainer. As he stared at his eyes, he began to notice that he wanted to fight it. He has no idea why, but he knew he couldn't change his mind. With a big sigh, he backed away from the Cloyster.
"Alright. If that's what you want, I'm not going to intervene. But on a condition that you will have to pull out when you reach your limit. Whether you like it or not, I'm your trainer and I'm not going to leave you alone in a Pokemon battle."
While he was glaring at him, Cloyster decided to turn his attention back to the wild Pokemon. As the battle started, Armand could do nothing but watch his Bivalve Pokemon as he fired two Icicle Spears to the monkey. It then countered with Leer and then Scratch once Cloyster used Icicle Crash. As he then used another Icicle Crash, the 25-years-old noticed that he seemed to be enjoying the battle, which was the total opposite of Melodie. Even he noticed her staring at the spiked clam in shock. After a few Scratches and 2 Leers on Panpour's side and 2 more Icicle Crashes and 5 Icicle Spears, Cloyster fired 3 Rock Blasts enough to knocked the Spray Pokemon out.
Surprised at his easy win, Armand approached the Water/Ice-type as he cried in celebration. Though he had to cover his ears due to how loud he celebrated before he knocked on his shell to gain his attention. "Alright, alright. I know you're happy that you won, but can you explain to me why did that Panpour suddenly challenged you?"
Cloyster just stared at him, confused about how he would explain this, which caused the trainer to sigh in dismay. "You know what, if you're okay, I would like to read your mind for a second. I'm still new with Telepathy, but I promise that it won't hurt."
While the Bivalve Pokemon was still confused, he nodded yes with a bit of reluctance, which Armand closed his eyes and placed his hand on his shell. At first, he struggled to focus as he showed signs of strain on his face. But he relaxed a bit as he began to hear the thoughts of his Pokemon. Then he stopped as he opened his eyes in shock.
"You're telling me that she was just angry about destroying her favorite tree?!" Cloyster nodded as he slowly turned around. "And you just accepted it because you're bored?!"
His Water/Ice-type responded with a grin, which Armand just covered his eyes in dismay.
"Seriously? What are you thinking?!" He then sighed in defeat, which he slowly realized just how quirky his Cloyster was. "You know what? I'll check up on your wounds for a while."
He approached Cloyster and took out another Potion as he checked up on him while using the medicine to tend his wounds.

Note: Cloyster's energy reduced to one, but used one Potion to heal him back to 5. Also, no catch attempt at Panpour.
