Ever since he caught Melodie, Armand couldn't help but wonder about her swimming skills. If he recalled, Lapras was known for ferrying many people across the bodies of the ocean. While he didn't know if she could do the same, but it couldn't hurt to try in the famous "Kiddie Pool" in the Training Grounds. Despite its name, he was amazed when he saw several obstacles, marked lanes, and several cameras around the area. Along with the life jackets that the entrance provided for the trainers, he wore a simple blue T-shirt, black shorts, and blue water shoes, which he changed from a nearby changing room because he needed to be with his Pokemon's side to train her for it.

With a deep breath, he approached the pool and took out his Lapras, which she noticed her new surroundings as he stared at her in silence for a few seconds.

"Sorry for the change of scenery, Melodie. But as promised, we're here to help you train your surfing skills in case we're traveling by water."

Once he said this, he closed his eyes to read Melodie's mind as his way to communicate with her.

"I-I understand. But are you sure this is safe, Armand?"

"Yeah, I'm sure." Armand then jumped onto her back as he patted on her head. "Just stay calm and follow my instructions. First, we should try to swim around the buoys."

"Alright. I'll trust you."

But as they started on their training, Melodie started bumping on several buoys as she tried to swim through them. By the time she bumped on the 5th buoy, Armand ended up falling into the water, which she noticed too late.

"Armand!"

Worried, she tried to swim to save him. However, the 25-years-old trainer emerged from the pool and swam towards his Transport Pokemon before he climbed up and took a few breaths.

"I-I'm okay, Melodie. Although, I have to admit your surfing needs work. It seemed like you're a bit rusty on it."

The Water/Ice-type narrowed her eyes and sprayed a stream of water on her trainer's face before she turned her head away from him.

"H-Hey! I didn't mean to offend you!"

His Lapras huffed and said through her thoughts, "I can't help it. I mostly spent my time practicing my singing before I joined you."

Armand sighed as he straightened himself as he stroke on his Pokemon's neck.

"I'm sorry, Melodie. Just do it again. But this time, try to control your speed. Some buoys can be move with a small wave from your fins' movements. Do it slow and steady first and speed up when you're comfortable with your pace."

His Lapras began to think about what Armand said to him and after that, she nodded and shift her gaze towards the obstacles in front of her.

As she restarted, Melodie followed her trainer's instructions and slowly passed through the buoys without any contact with them. She continued this a few more times with her swimming speed gradually increased. Eventually, on her 4th try, she managed to swim through the course at her average speed without bumping on the buoys, which impressed the black-haired trainer as he watched her sang happily at her new feat.

"Armand, I did it! I passed all of those buoys! How's that for being "rusty"?"

"Real funny. But great job, Melodie. I knew you can do it." He then stroke her head as she cried in delight.

"So what are we going to do next?"

Armand then looked around the obstacle course and hummed in thought until his eyes widened. "I was hoping we can try the obstacles one by one, but since you're confident about your skills, how about we'll do all of them?"

The Lapras then stared at the whole pool as well. But her eyes narrowed and smiled to her trainer.

"Let's do it. I'm going to continue training until I can ferry you to other places better."

With that declaration, Armand flashed a small smirk and stroke her head again.

"Alright, let's start our training once more."

With Armand's declaration, Melodie swam from the starting line of the pool and under his directions and advice, she not only breezed through buoys and some wave breakers on the first half of the lap, but she managed to keep her trainer on her back despite she bumped a few breakers along the way. After she passed more obstacles, Melodie and Armand reached the final obstacle, which was the end of the pool with randomly generated waves to simulate the rough waves of the ocean.

"This one might be a bit tricky to traverse, Melodie. Are you up to it?"

To his surprise, he didn't hear anything from her thoughts as he waited on the answer. However, she turned to Armand and nodded with her eyes still narrowed. Once he saw this, he nodded with a smile and turned their attention to the obstacle as she started to traverse through it. At first, she struggled to swim through the waves as the trainer tried to hold onto her back without falling again. However, she managed to resist the waves from pushing into the waters as she screamed and focused her gaze towards the goal. Eventually, she reached it and cried triumphantly as the black-haired trainer dismounted himself from her back and watched her celebrate this occasion.

"You see? I told you I can do it!" She thought as she stared at her trainer. "Though I couldn't do it without your help, Armand. So thank you."

Armand sighed as he looked at his Transport Pokemon, who was also relieved at her success.

"Don't mention it. I'm just glad... you didn't give... up..." Suddenly, the Psychic trainer almost collapsed on the ground before Melodie caught him with her neck, which she then cried in worry. "I-It's alright, Melodie. I'm guessing I need to get used to my Telepathy if I don't want to overload my head. How about we'll take a quick rest before we go home? Don't worry, I'll cook up something for you and everyone else later."

Surprised at what he offered, his Lapras happily cried as Armand slowly walked over a nearby pool bench and rested his eyes. As he did so, Melodie began to sing to help him relax once more.
