Re-Opening Announcement

Hello! For those who haven't been able to keep up with the Discord, or new members just joining us, I wanted to post a little announcement recapping recent events on Legends Rising.

Who Are We?

As an explanation to new members, Legends Rising was originally Pokemon Chaku Region, which opened in late May of 2019. However, on Oct 30, one of the two admins deleted the board and Discord without warning. Fortunately, we were able to get in touch with the majority of members via DM (and were later able to confirm at least that the other admin was okay), and immediately started rebuilding. A week later, we had everything set up enough to re-open.

You may notice the Great Chaku Compensation thread. There, members from Chaku have been able to list what they can remember having on Chaku and have been given credit to either replicate what they had or make new stuff equivalent to what they had, plus a little extra as thanks for staying with the community through this trying time. Rest assured, everyone worked really hard to earn these things back on Chaku, so it certainly isn't intended to be unfair to new members. We hope everyone is okay with this! We aim to be as transparent as possible.

What's Changed? What's New?

For returning members or new members who are just curious, here is a recap of changes made and new features released since recreation.

• Changed the name of the region from Chaku to Arciel. This is a shortening of arc de ciel, French for "rainbow", as a nod to Ho-oh, because we too are a phoenix that has risen from the ashes.
  
  
• Changed the route numbers on the map. Formerly, some routes were numbered like "3A" and "3B"; each route now has a distinct number instead.
  
  
• We decided to do both an interview-style and classic-style app this time around.
  
  
• The Reputation and Fame systems were released and integrated into the new app.
  
  
• The Face Claim and Who's Who are now automatically updated by staff rather than requiring members to post in them.
  
  
• The 8 classes on Chaku, wherein two had two subclasses each, were expanded to just 10 distinct classes.
  
  
• Pokemon are now allowed to say their names as well as make animal noises. (It was only animal noises on Chaku.)
  
  
• Thread rewards were increased, with gradually scaling rewards for longer threads.
  
  
• The Breeding mechanic was implemented. Players can create a Daycare to breed once per month per account, or once per week if they have a Breeder character.
  
  
• Berry and Apricorn farming were implemented. Farms must be purchased (or claimed for free for Farmer characters) and are per character, not per account. Berries can be crossbred to get more varieties of berries.
  
  
• The Masquerade Ball and Trick-or-Treat Maze events that had just been released on Chaku were recreated here and will run through November, so we're celebrating Halloween a bit late but oh well!
  
  
• Added a mechanic that allows a character to RP within their current place of residence as well as anywhere they've unlocked via traveling.
  
  
• Added a mechanic dealing with HP/Energy remaining on recently caught Pokemon. They now have 2 Energy or 5 HP left unless caught with a Heal Ball.
  
  
• Converted to the monetary shop plug-in. All items except Mega Stones and Z-Crystals are tracked through the plug-in's built-in inventory. Also added a "Customer Service" thread to the shops board to keep track of using consumable items like Shiny Powder or Rare Candy.
  
  
• Implemented the system for turning Apricorns into PokeBalls.
  
  
• Many new layouts were made, such as the new PC format and uniformalized Pokemon boxes around the site.
  
  
• Changed from 3D sprites to 2D sprites. All sprites are hosted on an old Jcink board of mine, so in order to change the sprite, you simply change the name at the end of the url. Use all lower case. Punctuation in names is either omitted (farfetchd, mrmime, jangmoo) or an underscore (porygon_z). Forms are an underscore and the form name. (cherrim_sunshine, floette_orange, vulpix_alola, etc.) Female sprites are generally name_f. Nidoran are nidoranm and nidoranf. Kangaskhan and Jynx are their female forms by default with _m added for our male versions. If you find a sprite that seems to be missing, let SG know and it'll get added asap!
  
  
  
• Several site NPC profiles were created and posted, along with relationship trackers so you can befriend or romance the NPCs if you want! (All former site NPCs which belonged to the other admin of Chaku were replaced, such as making a new regional Professor.) More NPCs will be coming in the future.
  
  
• The Gyms and Contests were remade, with Contests having greatly expanded the potential requirements to enter, and removing the feature where some halls didn't allow some category types. Contest rewards were clearly defined.

What's Next?

With all this, what can you expect from Legends Rising in the future? Here's a list of some of the features we have planned, but we are very open to more suggestions!

• The East Arciel areas of the map will be remade very soon, perhaps even before you've read this. This will contain 3 more gyms and 2 more contest halls.
  
  
• A lowkey holiday event that encourages Journeys is planned for December.
  
  
• A permanent carnival area with more mini-games and related jobs will be posted eventually.
  
  
• A Cooking system is planned that will allow Chefs and others to craft food items that give boosts to both people and Pokemon. Farming will likely be expanded to go along with this. Depending on the details, the Curry system from Sword and Shield may or may not inspire some of the Cooking system here.
  
  
• Secret Bases that will contain items you have Crafted which give small boosts to the character or their Pokemon are planned for some time in the future.
  
  
• Arciel Regional Variants of existing Pokemon are planned for some time in December. We may also consider adding a very limited number of full Fakemon, but currently the only one planned for certain is making baby Kangaskhan a distinct species.
  
  
• More jobs, especially class-based jobs to rank up, and more quests, such as those to unlock Z-Power and Mega Evolution, are planned for the future!
  
  
• Of course, Gen 8 Pokemon will be added soon, probably in early December.

There may be more I'm forgetting, but as you can see, we do have quite a few plans for expanding! And as stated, we are also open to suggestions, so feel free to throw ideas at us!
