As Ara looked up and asked, Gabe gave a shake of head. “Ah no, I can write it down for you,” he answered shifting to grab a pen from a can and a sticky note from a pad. A quick scribble, and he’d stick it on the computer screen’s side. One thing she would notice perhaps was that this address was in a different part of town from his old one. He had said he moved out, though, in one form or another.
What came after that, though, had Gabe’s eyes flicking hard to her profile. Was that an invitation or? Probably not, probably an absent thought for later then. But— No. A small smile quirked at the corners of his mouth. “Maybe next time,” he answered. Maybe never… His heart clenched, but he kept that one to himself. A pause and a forced smile. “I’ll see you around…” he decided softly turning and waiting in case she had any other questions. If not, though, this was fine. This had to be fine, right? Right.

Oh hey, sticky notes were pretty smart. “Thankkkk you...” it took her all of two seconds to look at the note and input the values- Arceus they’d moved a decent ways away? Like, literally to the other side of Bass.
Well, whatever. Arietta inputted a few more things before moving to twirl a stray piece of hair idly around her finger, submitting the form without another word.
As Gabe spoke again Arietta forced herself to swallow a lump that had grown in her throat, moving to step out from behind the counter as she attempted a smile at Gabe... cool, fine, he’ll come back another time and do things! Not like she was curious about what he’d mentioned before or anything.
Crossing and uncrossing her arms as she attempted to dwell on something to say, she found herself mumbling “Sorry- like, have I been weird or something? You... seem really guarded.” She moved to stretch her foot infront of her for a moment, curling and uncurling her toes absently, a mutter of “Errr... actually forget it.” Slipping off her tongue quickly as she moved to take a few steps back towards the hall, pausing however after a few seconds of walking.
Gabe was pretty sure he’d misheard that statement. Ara had been mumbling, and there was no way she said those words as he heard them. Still, he paused and glanced back to her, his lips pressing together some. Just as quickly as the admission had come, though, it was retracted again. Ah, heh. Yeah, either way never mind, right? Right. He’d started to walk only for her to cut off and on again. “The what—“ Oh, that? “Er…. Keep it….” he answered somewhat awkwardly. He’d gotten along fine without it as it were, and having it now would feel weird at least to him.

Keep it? The girl stubbornly shook her head, “No- I have it in my dance bag just- one sec?” Her voice was almost pleading, she could feel the exhaustion slowly start to hit and moved down the hall, she’d kept the change seperate in her purse for a reason, and now he was, like, actually here she didn’t have to feel uncomfortable everytime she took a glance at the money.
It took no more than two minutes for her to come running back out from the hall, money in hand- it was only 50 bucks but the way she made it out was as if it were so much more. “...take it, please?”
Gabe shifted from one foot to another. “I….” A sigh. “Fine.” As if she wasn’t already down the hallway presumably going to get it. Slowly starting to follow after her, he rubbed one shoulder with his opposing hand. She was back even before he’d really closed that much distance, money in hand. Take it please…. The way she said it made him reach for it, but as their hands met, he clasped hers for just a second. A pause, and he let go just as quickly pocketing the cash. “I take it your phone’s replaced or in working order now at least?” he asked after another pause.
Thankfully he took the money with little to no complaint, which she was pretty damn grateful for- she didn't know if she could handle another fight or more complex conversations, dance practice was no time for that! Whether she noticed the slight hand grab or not, she attempted not to react, moving again to put her hands on her hips- was this where he left? That was what he was planning to do- right?
Surprisingly, he didn't just ditch, instead asking about her phone? Arietta shifted how she stood, tilting her head and glancing off for a moment, as if in thought. "Uh- replaced! I'm probably going to deal with all the contact shit tomorrow- but like- I got a case new case for it and everything, it's.... super shiny- or sparkly?" A quiet, awkward laugh followed and she shrugged in turn, "...Yeah."
Oh, she couldn't take much of this awkward silence- was he leaving or- was he not? What did she do? The girls hands clasped tighter at her hips, if at all possible. "I can show you- if you want- I don't...uhm..."
New phone, new case, new voice plan, good enough. Gabe gave a nod. “Good…” That was one less thing he had to think about. The offer to see it, though, had him fidgeting a little. “Ah, no that’s fine…” he answered shifting sideways in stance. His gaze locked on hers again for a moment, and he felt his chest tighten before he glanced away.
“Sorry…. If I’m being guarded,” he said after a moment, not readily looking in her direction any longer. You’re not the only one who finds this… awkward…” But familiar. “But I didn’t just run away.” Like he did last time. “And you damn well signed me up so….” He forced himself to look back at her and force a smile. “I’ll see you later, Ara….” he spoke softer and then slowly started walking away again.
Oh thank Arceus- okay he was going- that... good. Yeah. She moved to push her hand through her hair once more and a small, fake smile graced her features. She could probably go over a routine with Aumia, then-she didn't need to do anything with the girls for the next week since there were no new songs or dances- just rehearsal and warm ups... hopefully... She found her mind wondering and almost completely forgot she was standing there, infront of Gabe.
An apology for something she mumbled out earlier, a comment about the awkwardness- Arietta let out a laugh at that, shaking her head, completely and utterly awkward, it was. At his comment about... not running away though the girl found her eyes averting, and her hands fell from her head to stay by her side... right, he's... there's progress. He's trying- he's....
Biting her tongue before she blurted out something stupid it took her a few moments to finally work up the courage to raise a hand in a half-hearted wave, the corner of her mouth twitching up as she finally went "O...kay...Uhm- bye, Gabe- I won't keep you, enjoy your night- if you give your name at reception anytime i'm sure they'll let you in- yeah..." good one, not rambling Arietta.
He wasn’t sure what he was waiting for, but he guessed maybe it was the wave goodbye. Enjoy your light. Hah. You could always come with me… It was on the tip of his tongue, but his lips sealed tight and quirked up at the corners instead. “Bye….” was all he’d answer back with before starting to walk again. He made it to the front door without looking back this time— even if his chest was tight and his stomach was tighter. Distantly, he wondered how far he could go if he just ran right then and there and didn’t stop. At least all the way to Ivy Town… he thought to himself and immediately smirked. Yeah…
It took more than a few seconds for Arietta to move from the spot she was standing in and lower her hand, a small part of her thought he was going to stay, and that he was going to hesitate again and bring up dancing- but... but only a small part. His arrival at the studio had been so unexpected, and now she had no idea how to process it- things... were weird... Did she hate him? Had he actually changed, or was some part of her still clinging to whatever positive reaction she got and romanticizing it?
Arietta didn't know, but it was dancing hours- it was dancing hours and she didn't wanna think. Finally leaving her spot she moved down the halls and to the left, passing the storage closet until she stumbled into the change rooms, where her stuff and her pokeballs were- Arceus she hated silence.
Grabbing one of the balls at random and opping it open, she amost startled as Gabi- Alto showed up. Of... fucking course. A soft, ironic laugh left Arietta's lips which she covered quickly, the ghost type staring at her like she'd grown a second limb and letting out a curious cry- right- shit- okay.
"We're gonna do some, uh, dancing, Gabbie!" Her hands moved to fidgit with her ponytail, attempting asmile- like she was infront of a crowd, like her fans were watching her- like she wasn't feeling so stupidly weird inside her brain with no way to understand anything. Gabbie flew around her, a soft coo leaving his lips as Arietta moved to pick up her bags-
Right. Okay- dance. Dancing to forget all her shit- great coping mechanism Arietta- great. It was just another night- and now Gabe was just another student.
