Eri didn't understand what she'd done wrong- but the star was helping so that's what counted! As long as she could do it to his standards to make him happy then it was worth it! Mixing into the... volcano crater thing, and then bashing the stars out of the dough! Glitter may have attempted to add gliter a few times, but could you blame her? It was nowhere near sparkly enough!
She moved to lean against the counter when she wasn't needed, hands gripping on the edge with a hum. "I have cosmic beetroot! and... star glazed lettuce? We also can't forget uhhhh.... the blue kale!" She shifted a little then, going towards the fridge and bringing out what could only be labelled as three disgraces to the word vegetable. Lathered in what you can only hope is edible glitter and smothered in food dye.
Arceus, what was Eri's fascination with glitter and sugar? Koray lost track of the number of times he'd had to stop her from adding more ingredients to the pasta dough. No, simple was best, there was no need to make this extra fancy. At least not for this meal. At this point, speed was more important to Koray than presentation. Maybe some other time he'd look into adding edible glitter but not now.
When Koray asked about vegetables, he was shocked to see the state of the beetroot and lettuce she'd pointed to. What...in Arceus' holy name, were those monstrosities? Ummm... alright, nevermind a vegetable. Next time he would know to bring his own ingredients to Eri's place... if there was a next time. "On second thought... I think just pasta and sauce will be fine. The sauce is almost done, can you get a big pot out for me? We'll need it for the noodles." At least there were enough ingredients to put together a simple pasta dish.
Oh- no veggies then? That was perfectly fine! Eri could have food without veggies, she just might need to sprinkle some stardust on it after preparation is done. Just pasta and sauce would do nicely! Alright, soo... he wanted her to get a big pot? Yeah! That she can do! Eri moved to return the veggies, making sure to put them in their right spots before closing the fridge and venturing over to a fairly disorganized cupboard that seemed to be hidden in the very corner of the room, and once open a loud booming noise rung out-
Five pots and pans that had been stuffed in there with minimal disregard all came toppling out, and Eri lout out what must have been a loud squeal, stumbling back a few steps and causing Cosma to hop straight into the room, as if to check on Eri, before decidedly ducking out again. It was fine, The weight on the recently cut leg hurt but... it was fine, the stars had decided this would happen after all- uh-
She grabbed one of the largest posts that had fallen on the floor before, and jumping over the pots that'd just fallen presented it to Koray as if she hadn't just set off a domino reaction of pots and pans falling. "I'll, err, clean it later, star! Big pot, as ordered!"
Koray didn't think anything of asking Eri where the pots and pans were. She knew her kitchen better than he did after all. What he hadn't expected was the sudden loud CRASH that resounded when she opened the cupboard. Thank Arceus he didn't have a knife in his hand at that point else he might very well have cut himself. "Are you alright?" Koray immediately asked, reaching over to make sure that Eri didn't fall or hurt herself more. He frowned lightly at the mess but took the pot and filled it with hot water before putting it on to boil.
"Thanks Eri, can you get plates out?" Koray asked, automatically bending to organize the mess of pots and pans out of habit. Hmmm, this might take a bit but he had enough time before the water started to boil and the sauce was already done and off the burner anyway.
At Koray's question, and as he took her pot to use, Eri quickly took hold of the ledge of her counter to keep her balance, managing a grin despite how she'd obviously been fairly startled by the pots falling. "I'm never not okay, absolutely stellar! There's no reasons for your stars to worry!" The fates had just decides to spring some wild pots on her, is all! As he asked to get the plates Eri moved into a salute, and towards the plate storage, only pausing when Koray began cleaning the mess she'd made.
Eyes widened Eri quickly went, "Sirius, it's okay! I said i'll clean it up later, a star shouldn't be cleaning up a star guides mess, especially in her own home!" Eri shifted, stopping from grabbing the plates and instead moving in to help Koray with the pots, chastising him all the while. "You can just sit back and relax and do... chef star things! Please? A star shouldn't be doing all this, it's not right."
Koray didn't believe Eri's words for a second. Nobody was stellar all the time, especially after something like that. At the very least, he'd have expected her to be startled. For the most part, he would ignore her words. At least until she tried to help him clean up the pots and pans that had fallen out of the cupboard. "What? It's fine, I normally clean as I cook anyway. Let me help," Koray explained briefly, shaking his head as she continued to scold him. This time, he frowned at her. Why was she so insistent that she do everything? It wasn't right.
"Eri. Please, stop trying to do everything. I'm fine, I don't mind a little cleaning," Koray explained, hoping that she would see at least a little reason. Ah, but it was almost time to add the noodles. Mmm, they could clean this up together he supposed. Maybe he'd try and organize the kitchen next though.
Oh my stars! Could Sirius please let her just do her job!? Eri only had few things to do on this world, few things to do the for the celestials to make them happy, make them pleased in her, and taking care of the stars, making them feel at home, doing everything for them so they could be happy was one of the biggest parts of that. He threw back a 'please stop' right back at her and a soft, annoyed sigh left her. She couldn't disobey the stars but all of this made her feel bad. She hated it, she shouldn't just stand around when there was a literal star in her own home, her own house where she was supposed to cater t their every whim... but... she wasn't trying to do everything, soo.. she wasn't really going against him!
"I'm not doing everything." Was her response, throw to him as she stacked up her pots and ungracefully as possible shoved them back into their place, closing the door and holding it for a few seconds to insure it stayed, before standing up and bringing her hands to her hips, a pout on her face once more. "Cleaning the house, cleaning after the stars, it's my job. You say your job in cooking? Mine is taking care of whetever the stars need done, especially in my own home. I respect your cooking, and you respect my job- if you wan't to- if you don't wanna that's fine since I can't tell stars what to do- but- yeah!" She didn't sound very happy, and after a few seconds turned to grab out the plates. Oh- had she been too unhappy?! What if she star hated her now! She pushed on her best smile and glanced over her shoulder then, relaxing her posture slightly.
Koray... didn't like the way the pots were ungracefully shoved back in the cupboard. For a moment, it was all he could do to stare at the door Eri had closed. He might've looked like a child that had his favorite toy taken away. But... I wasn't done organizing... A clear pout played on his features, not quite paying attention to Eri's rant. It was something about jobs and stars, was all he'd heard. While Koray could tell that Eri was unhappy with him, he was just as upset about not being able to finish a task he'd started. Well, that and all sorts of confused why she was going on about it being her job and catering to the stars.
Being catered to was something foreign to Koray. He didn't like the implication that Eri had to take care of him. What if it wasn't what he'd wanted? Didn't he have some say in this? "I was almost done though..." Koray whined, his voice almost pleading as he continued to stare at the cupboard door. Even Rowan had to giggle a little at the way Koray looked before the Phantump tried to pull him away from the cupboard. It's ok! Just focus on cooking, the water's boiling now! The words were enough to snap Koray out of the trance of sorts before a more sheepish smile came and went from his features. Rowan knew how hard it was for him to stop in the middle of a task. It was all he could do to tear his focus from the cupboard to the now boiling water. Right. He had a job to do.
It didn't take very long to break the pasta and set it into the pot. A few stirs and the noodles were completely submerged. All he had to do was wait and... try not to stare too much at the cupboard. The sauce would be stirred and oh, right. He could make a dessert in the meantime. That would be what would distract Koray for the next 15 or so minutes needed for the pasta to finish cooking. The dessert would be set in the fridge to chill and hopefully set in time before he moved to dish up the plates, making sure that the appearance still looked restaurant quality. Koray would take the plates to the table and set them down before going back to retrieve utensils. "Hope you enjoy it~," Koray mused, smiling a little. Why was it still so hard to tear his thoughts away from the pots and pans....? Focus, it's time to eat... no use dwelling on that. Yes, easier said than done.
At his words about almost being done Eri just sighed softly, he didn't even hear her,did he? Well... well whatever! She watched as he took about being in his own world once more, back to cooking his dish, noodles and... combining... watching Stars at work was almost mesmerizing in a way, they new everything they were doing, it was all muscle memory, something gifted to them by the celestials to work on their passion, what they loved. Of course, just standing there watching she felt once more ever so slightly useless, and everything in her brain was itching for her to do something, to help the star but he... didn't seem to need help.
Eri instead moved to grab out her phone, leaning against the counter and browsing her emails with other stars to see what breeding she had to get done, what tasks she had to set out on, maybe try and get an idea of her schedule, she almost didn't realize Koray was done until the plates were brought around towards her small dining/lounge area, and she let out a alert noise, moving to pocket her phone and trailing after him almost like a lost puppy. her usual seat was quickly taken: the chair with the adorable pink star cushion and a few star charms tied around the top.
A few of her mons were quick to crowd the table, including Arche and Facula, as well as Cosma who took one of the seats next to Eri, flapping her wings slightly to better get comfortable. As the food was settled before her Eri leaned to get a better look at it, eyes widening slightly. "...you really are blessed by the celestials." was said- this wasn't just cooking! This was food art! She almost didn't wanna dig in, it looked like food they'd serve at some fancy place and Eri didn't have a lot of time to go to those sorta places.
Of course, she waited for Koray to be seated before mumbling a soft, "...may this food be blessed by the stars above.." and digging in bringing the fork down, twirling, and letting out a small excited gasp as the flavours met her tongue. It was tingling her taste buds!! She quickly swallowed her bite and was quick to say, "This is definitely made by a chef! Of course I didn't see you add any stardust..." There was a pause, as her eyes flicked to what looked like a salt shaker on the table, only with the label 'stardust' on it, as if debating adding it. "...hm..."
By the time the dishes were on the table, Koray was feeling much better. There were dishes to take care of in the kitchen still, but later. After they'd both had a chance to eat. He could still hear the rain outside but well, hopefully they would be able to leave as soon as it stopped. Sigh. Eri's comment about being blessed by the celestials elicited a soft blush followed by a shake of his head. No, he didn't believe 'blessed' was the right word at all. It... was almost upsetting that Eri had forgotten how much he disliked that word following what had happened Halloween night.
The brief prayer made Koray pause before digging in, humming in contentment. Yes... for the meager ingredients he'd had to work with, it tasted just fine. At least he wasn't losing his touch. Whether Eri intended for it or not, this had been a good way to test his skills. A laugh would follow the comment about stardust before he shook his head, "I added a pinch of salt or 'stardust' to the sauce. Don't you dare add anymore, it'll ruin the dish if you do," Koray explained, only slightly chiding Eri. He wasn't serious and hoped his tone would convey that but either way Koray would push the salt shaker out of Eri's reach...just to be safe.
After her small internal debate on adding stardust and Koray's retort, being able to catch on fairly quick on what Eri was thinking about, she could only gasp in mock-hurt as it was nudged away ever so slightly, eyebrows raising, followed by a few soft giggles. "Alright, alright. I'll keep the stardust ratio as intended, you win this time, Sirius!" a fork, with pasta twirled through the prongs was then brought to her lips as she began to dig into her meal. Surprisingly, Koray was sorta right, maybe it wouldn't hurt to add in half a cup of stardust but... the taste was good! Of course she'd noted it before, but it was smooth to swallow and everything. Eri wasn't too sure what the stars table rules were, so she wasn't sure if it was proper to talk while she was eating or not.
Her feet bounced against the floor with every thought flying through her head, which seemed to catch the attention of Arche, who every so often would bump the table in an attempt to nip at Eri's heel, eliciting an eyeroll and a small offering of pasta under the table. Around halfway through the meal it seemed Eri got slightly restless and couldn't help herself by talking. "You know, you're lucky to have caught me on a night off, Sirius!" She was pointing her fork at him them, shifting forward in her seat to properly address the shining star before her.
"Because usually the celestials make me suuuuuper busy." The fork was brought to her lips again as she chewed once more, swallowing again before swirling another lot around the metal. "...then again... it's not really luck, since everything's predetermined... more like fate!" a pause, she blinked for a second before glancingto the nursery and back, a soft gasp leaving her, "Perhaps... fate brought you here to receive an unsellable egg! I haven't given you a proper taste of my buisness yet, have I?"
That laugh earned another smile from Koray as Eri did finally agree that she wouldn't mess with the ratio. Good, it was perfect as it was. There was no need to add more seasoning when he'd made sure that there was just enough to make the sauce sing with perfection. It was definitely one of the better dishes he'd done, even with the limited amount of ingredients he had to work with.
One thing Koray did note was that he was much hungrier than he'd anticipated. While normally he wouldn't mind conversation, he was too busy eating to even attempt small talk at the moment. It seemed Eri had her hands full placating a rather hungry Dubwool. He had just put another forkful of noodles in his mouth when Eri spoke up at last, drawing Koray's attention away from his food for perhaps the first time that evening. Lucky? How was that lucky?
Oh, there was something about the celestials again. Koray had to fight to keep from groaning internally. Sigh, he grew tired of hearing about them already. Whatever the case, Eri offered to give him an egg which... was surprising? It took a couple moments for him to swallow the bite he'd taken. "An egg? I mean, that's very generous of you but... you don't have to, Eri."
Generous? She doesn't have to? Nuh-uh, she totally did! "I know I don't have to- but I wanna! And you seem to be good with eggs!" A nod then, followed by a satisfied hum as she took another bite of her meal. She waiting for her words to sink in before further continuing. "It's an eevee egg, one you saw earlier- maybe the market went down and I didn't catch on but nobody wants it, and i'm not too sure i'll have room if other people don't take it..." Eri went to take another spoonful of her pasta only to realize she'd eaten all of it, and was shocked for a few seconds, before grinning to herself and lowering the plate to let Arche lick, the poor Dubwool was hungry after all! She'll feed him again later!
"It's okay, though! I'm not forcing your stars to take it! I can always raise the guide myself, but I just thought you might want it!"
Koray couldn't help but smirk as his own statement was thrown back at him. Alright, fine, fine. If she wanted to, then it would be fine, right? His face flushed slightly at hearing that Eri thought he was good with eggs. She'd only seen him with the one... and he'd been out in the pouring rain with it earlier. Which reminded him that the dryer should be done by now. It had taken longer to make the meal than Koray had anticipated and now that he thought about it, it was getting rather late. He still had the kitchen to clean up too...
A nod would be given at the information before he shook his head at hearing nobody wanted the egg. "I'm fairly certain that's not true, perhaps those that do want it simply can't afford it currently. Either way, I'd be happy to take it since you're offering. Do you want anything in return as payment? This is your business after all, it wouldn't feel right to accept it otherwise," Koray explained, giving a small encouraging smile, "Why don't you get the egg and we can decide on it in a little? I should get the dessert."
Taking the dishes afterwards, he moved back to the kitchen to start cleaning up. It was a normal routine for him and something he thought nothing of doing, already going through the motions of cleaning the dishes. Now where had Eri gotten the plates? Ah, yes, there they were. Hopefully the dessert had gotten firm enough to plate. Hmm, now if only he had some chocolate syrup to go with it... oh! Powdered sugar would do just as nicely, yes.
Eri for a moment had her attention diverted from Koray as Arche noisley licked the bowl offered, his horns chipping the glaze ever so slightly and causing her to wince... at least it wasn't the stars plate! She moved to take it off Arche, pushing her lips together in a mock-pout as the Dubwool whined and grunted at her before retreating into the kitchen. Eyes flicked to Koray then- it sounded like he was trying to assure her!
But he would have the egg!! Eri's face lit up, preperations going off in her head, things to do to get the new egg owner sorted- did she have her care package for new egg owners?! The little paper guide that she designed on her laptop?! Her mind was going a million miles a minute, and she only pushed from her thoughts as he asked for payment. Eri hummed, shaking her head. "Nope! A gift from the celestials, in return for cooking a stellar dinner and cleaning!"
Because Eri also felt slightly bad... but everything was fine! Now she had a mission- a new thing to do! Prepare the egg! She didn't need to be told twice to get it, practically bounding out of her seat like a giddy child and rushing back off towards the nursery, with Cosma, who'd been perched on the seat next to her, following ever so diligently behind.
An egg sat perched on one of her many egg areas and she quickly scooped it into her arms, checking once more to assure the eevee egg was good to go before moving to bustle through her room, grabbing this, and that- a little bit of thermal powder wishing dust to keep the egg nice and cozy, a cute star patchwork blanket she'd sewn herself, a tiny bottle that shooould be the right size for an eevee... uhm... what els- care guide! Ericollected what she had into a basket at the back of the closet, insuring the egg sat comfortably in it before rushing back into the dining/lounge area, resting the basket on the table before quickly nicking off to her office.
Her office... was a mess, Eri realized now. It doubled as a storage room and there were magazine clippings and posters of various stars with her mothers as well as just general planet cutouts and star pictures. ALl her documents were crammed into various drawers and it was just generally... very unorganised, save for her desk with... a-ha!
A small folder full of her important breeder files rested by her laptop, opened on her newest clients documents. Eri flicked through it for a moment before managing to find her little egg care guide pamphlet, perfect! Eri came rushing back into the room, glancing around once for Koray before making her way into the kitchen, pamphlet in her hand to see him busying himself. She... wanted to help, this wasn't a stars job. It felt off, but he obviously didn't like it when she stopped him so she instead stood in the doorway, bouncing on her feet.
"Uh- I've collected everything for egg preparations!"
Koray still felt a little weird accepting a gift from Eri after doing something that came so naturally to him. He would nod and go back to cleaning up the mess he'd left in the kitchen... and started to organize the rest of the kitchen while he was at it. It was actually a lot of fun, especially given how so many of Eri's pokemon wanted to help. He'd even called out a few of his other flyers to help expedite the process. By the time Eri came back, there would be quite a few pokemon cleaning along with Koray and well, then there was Arche that was at the very least helping with organizing with the promise of treats.
Lost in his own world, Koray didn't hear Eri enter immediately, especially when there was already so much going on in the kitchen. Dishes had been washed, cupboards organized, and even the expired food was sitting in the trash can. Turning around, Koray smiled when he saw the egg and finished up putting the last things away. It had gone so much faster with all the pokemon pitching in, that was for sure. "Great~, thank you so much!" Koray mused, stepping forward to take the egg from Eri, "Oh, the clothes should be dry by now, right? I can check if you'd like."
See Eri's first thought seeing... such stellar chaos in her kitchen was not how did he do this in such a short amount of time, no, it was a small question of if this guy was actually snow white, followed closely by he shouldn't be doing this he's a star, and finished nicely with a little I hope he hasn't touched my star dust stash. At least five of her star guides were busy helping him, stars, even Arche was?! And- it was so clean?? He hadn't exactly noticed her, so Eri just leaned against the doorway for a moment, lips pressed together- it was best not to annoy a star in their natural habitat especially not when they looked so... happy?
Eri couldn't understand it, how a star could be so happy doing what most considered chores, something that was typical of a star-guide to help take weight off their chest and make life brighter for them. And yet Sirius seemed to be glowing. She took a moment to nick out the room and grab the egg she had bundled up on the table in a little basket before coming back, walking a little louder to make her presence knowing without distracting the star too much. Held tightly was a home-made basket, with a egg nestled inside as well as her care-guide and various different care tools.
Offering the egg a beam lit up on Eri's face, hopefully he liked the egg! "Don't thank me yet, Sirius! I have to talk you through it's care- or you could flick through the guide in the basket and ask me any questions you have!" Hands folded behind her back now, she paused to glance around the kitchen, biting the inside of her cheek. "If I didn't know any better... i'd say that your star talent was cleaning." Her smile died down slightly, but as one of her babies passed her to re-enter the dining room and Eri bent down to give her a little pat her worries seemed to ease of her shoulders for a moment.
Dryer? Oh- oh yeah! The dryer! Eri popped up from her spot then, head shaking, "Nuh-uh! Stay put, read the care guide, i'll grab the stuff in the dryer!" and before he could say anything Eri was off like a shooting star, determined to still serve the star however she could. Thankfully everything managed to be dry, and she collected it all in one of her washing baskets before venturing back into her living area, holding the basket out to Sirius to grab his stuff from. "All dry! Not as sparkly as clothes from my dryer should be... maybe the glitter ran out?"
She isn't going to mention she usually puts glitter on the bottom of her dryer hoping for it to coat her clothes. Instead just quizzically staring at the now warm pieces of fabric.
Koray took the egg gratefully and looked at the guide placed in the basket carefully. It looked simple enough and well, he'd taken care of a number of eggs already. "I have taken care of some eggs already, but I can ask if anything comes up?" Sounded like a good plan to him at any rate. Though he had to laugh at the next comment about his cleaning. "Is it? I just find cleaning relaxing, it's a nice feeling when everything's in its proper place," Koray explained, looking back to see that the pokemon were already close to finishing the task he'd set before them. They were doing a good job, especially with Rowan taking charge and making sure even the little ones had a job they could do.
The question about the dryer clothes had Koray putting the basket aside briefly to make sure that the task of cleaning and organizing the kitchen was completed without a hitch. He was in the process of feeding the pokemon that had helped some of his homemade treats when Eri returned with the clothes from the dryer. Admittedly, he was confused why she'd commented about the clothes not being as sparkly as they usually were but... maybe it was the type of dryer sheet she used? Ah well, he wasn't going to worry about it. "Great! Thank you so much, I'll just change into these and then see head out unless you have something else you'd like to talk about?"
He would wait a moment or two for Eri to speak before doing just as he said he would. Changing into the warm clothes was a rather huge relief, especially since it the change of clothes given to him had been a tight fit. A sigh of relief escaped him and Koray would toss the clothes he'd worn into a hamper in the laundry room. That would make sure they got washed next time Eri did any laundry... actually, on second thought putting them in the washing machine would be better. Yes, he would go back and do that. Finding Eri again, Koray would gather up the egg and return the rest of his pokemon aside from Rowan. "Thanks for your hospitality, hope to see you around soon~," Koray mused, giving Eri one of his cards as an afterthought. It wouldn't hurt to know her number or vice versa as the case may be.
Eri grinned further as her guide was looked over, lots of work went into it so if it could help in any way she really was thankful. And... he found cleaning relaxing, which was a rarity to hear from the stars... but it felt wrong if it was happening in her own apartment, because this was where she was supposed to be taking care of the stars- oh! Oh that was why it felt so weird this whole time! Because she was supposed to serve the stars in her apartment!
He seemed about ready to go, she'd noted he'd begun feeding the pokemon and hummed, he really was like snow white. Which... was a weird correlation because she hadn't seen that movie since she was tiny- or maybe more the princess with the star gown! She fed her mice and cleaned, right? "Nope! It sounds like the rains clearing and the celestials are probably calling you home!" And she wouldn't wanna get in the way of that.
As he came back into the room after changing Eri seemed to have been moving around the room, finishing up on feeding a few of the babies who were out, one of them being held in her arms and being bottle-fed. A soft "Welcome back, star~" Left her and she shifted the pokemon so it was more held one-armed and didn't obscure her vision.
Of course, the welcome back was unwarrented as.. he was going. Eri watched as he grabbed everything, ensuring that he really grabbed everything before following him to the door, using her foot to hold it open as he made his way out, only to pause as she was offered... a card? Hers was in her little car pack and she couldn't rush off to get another one... She grinned. "No need to thank me, it's what a star guide does! I'll see you around sometime, Sirius!"
And then the door closed and Eri was left to her thoughts.
