Just as Sid had touched one of the eggs, it seemed to come to life. It shined along with another, and Sid set back watching as it took form. A baby Pokemon’s first need it to find its mother or parental substitute… Their training reminded them, and Sid shifted a little so as not to block Koray’s connection with the younglings. Watching that connection be established, Sid hummed a little softly. Good good…
Their eyes then flicked to the last egg. Rather than get between Koray and the new Pokemon, they shifted, pulling out their stethoscope again and listening in to the last egg’s sounds. A heart beat… Something warm and ready for sure. What a nice feeling…. They could listen to it forever if given the opportunity.
Watching Sid check the egg, Koray smiled, a bit relieved that it appeared as if the last egg was alright after all. Right, I should catch these little ones next. Thankfully he had some extra pokeballs to catch the little ones. It would take a few moments to fish through his bag before finding them. The three pokemon stopped to look at him curiously while Koray smiled softly, "Do you want to come with me, little ones?" he asked quietly, watching as the Litten and Eevee promptly scooted forward and pressed the button on the perspective pokeballs. The balls hardly shook and it wasn't that big of a stretch to say they were happier without so much people around. I'll see them again later... unless Sid wants to see them again. He hadn't taken them into account but they seemed happy to listen to the egg for now.
Now that Morwen and Cadi were safely in their balls Maia was a little concerned at the prospect of going inside. Of course that meant getting caught in the blanket again somehow. It was all Koray could do to untangle her without upsetting the last egg. "Shhh, shhh, you're alright. Maia, you're safe. Do you want to come with me? I promise to keep you safe. We can have lots of fun adventures too," Koray said, keeping his voice soft and encouraging. Maia seemed to understand and looked at the ball curiously... only to roll into it and startle herself when the beam pulled her inside. Koray... didn't quite know what to make of that and watched as the ball shook a few times before the Solosis seemed to settle down and ding in capture. O...kay then...?
With the three hatchlings safely in their balls, Koray looked back at Sid. He didn't know how much of that they'd caught but well... if the last egg was safe, maybe they could try the outfits again. Right... he was still carrying Sid's bag, woops. Pulling it off, he set Sid's bag next to his own and looked over at the last egg, smiling as Elanor seemed much calmer now that there was only one egg to care for. "How's the egg? Elanor, my Litwick's been doing a good job of keeping it warm, haven't you~," Koray asked, raising a hand to pet the shiny Litwick who cooed in response. She was happy to help! Especially since this nice stranger was able to help as well. "If... the egg's ok, I still kind of wanted to dress up. I mean, it'd be fun to even get some photos of the real Viktor and Prince Sid."Arceus, why did that make him nervous to admit that was what he wanted? It was just fun, harmless fun. Maybe he was still a bit frazzled from the excitement earlier. Yeah, had to be it.

For a brief moment, Sid had forgotten where they were. The sounds of the skating rink, the others around them, and otherwise had all drowned out in the face of the heartbeat. Some affectionate color had come to Sid’s features in the time Koray had captured all his new Pokemon and settled everything. It was only the second time Koray spoke that Sid became aware of the other sounds. Pulling the stethoscope from their ears, they blinked a couple of times slowly up at Koray. “Seems to be in good health,” they answered returning the item to their— ah there’s there bag.
At the words that followed, Sid let out a soft hum. “Eto ettoo …..” Leaning their head one way and then the other, they considered a few possibilities. “You’re too tall for my clothes…” they mentioned again. The last thing they wanted or needed was an overly tall person stretching out their custom fitted cosplays. Any wrinkles or lines were unacceptable in the light of a camera. “Do you have a cosplay with you at home that is easily accessible?”
Sighing when Sid said that the egg was healthy, Koray relaxed a little and pet Elanor some more. She was feeling better now, he could tell that much but he still wanted Rowan to stay with her. If the next hatchling was as much of a handful as the Solosis seemed to be... well, it would be better to have Rowan there. The words that came after Koray's proposal to dress up in turn had him blinking slowly. Well... he didn't quite know what that meant but he understood that he couldn't just borrow an outfit. Eh, it was worth a shot at any rate.
The question that came after however had Koray bringing a hand underneath his chin in thought. Hmmm... well... "I haven't really cosplayed before... but... I did dress up as Jack Skellington for a showcase... I still have some of the white frost I used for that. As for costumes... maybe one of my old dance outfits would work? At least, it may work for Viktor's aesthetic," Koray explained, more or less thinking out loud before running a hand through his hair, "Home is in Pine though... maybe one of the shops nearby has a ready made outfit but... they won't be near as comfortable to move in." That was a bit problematic and he didn't exactly trust any of his Pokemon to go and find the things he was looking for. Not to mention most of his team consisted of the new hatchlings right then and there.
"Guess if you don't mind a trip? I can pack up the cameras for you." Koray shrugged, ready to table the idea at that point. Seemed sort of like a lost cause if they had to travel to Pine and then back to Birch all for a change of clothes.
Ah… Sid frowned a little as Koray explained he’d never really cosplayed before. Strange that he would be so interested to try here and now then… Maybe he was just feeling inspired given what they had already done, perhaps— or maybe he was a fan of theirs trying not to be conspicuous. Actually, the latter sounded about right when they took into account other things.
Sid’s lips pressed together at the mention of a trip. No, that really had some strange and unsettling implications right then. “Hm…. If you’ve never cosplayed before, you might consider coming to a traditional costuming class first. There are a lot of tips and tricks that are easily taught but hard to learn on one’s own. My friend here in Birch hosts one…” they spoke with a certain level of restraint and care but nothing that would sound out of the ordinary then.
“It’s on Thursday nights in the Birch library conference room, if you’d be interested. I can send you the other details.” Sid smiled a little. “There will be other photo opportunities.”
Koray shrugged when Sid frowned and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. Well, it was worth a shot at any rate. Shame he didn't think about wearing one of his dance outfits before leaving. Then again, it had been a spur of the moment decision to ice skate that day. Ah well, it couldn't be helped. The helpful information about the costume class in Birch earned a half laugh before Koray shook his head. Ah, maybe he hadn't exactly been clear about his hobby.
"I wouldn't mind the information, thanks. I'm actually pretty good at doing my own makeup and costumes but maybe a few pointers would help. The outfits I was talking about? I made them myself. I love to dance and have participated in several performances in the past. Part of that is making sure your costume is perfect and doing makeup if necessary. I just haven't actually cosplayed officially before I guess?" Koray explained, shrugging a bit, "I might have the frost spray in my bag... it's not the same as a wig, but would be better than nothing in terms of actually looking like Viktor." Thank Arceus he didn't clean out his bag too often.
Digging through his bag, Koray looked through several of the pockets before finding the small canister hiding underneath several papers. Woops, those should've stayed at the restaurant but oh well, he'd be back tomorrow. "Found it~. This stuff is amazing, I used it in my showcase last month and it made my dark locks look white as snow. Good for Jack Frost or Viktor, no?" Koray explained, showing the canister to Sid. It would take a few minutes to work it into his hair but he wasn't going to press the point if Sid was reluctant to get back out on the ice.

A bit of intrigue flickered into Sid’s eyes as Koray spoke. Hm… interesting… So he was on the cusp of otaku but still more on the eclectic theater kid side (-- dance kid? Ice skating kid? Was there that big a difference?). They supposed his interests made a little more sense in that case.
Actually, maybe he was just now getting into it? Was Yuri On Ice perhaps his conversion anime? What other skills did he have that could perhaps be transferred over to the otaku way? Does he LARP? He’d mentioned performances and showcases, but there was something fundamentally different between the two. I bet he could get into it…. He seemed to be really interested in a cosplay shoot. Ah but what if he turns out to just be a normie in disguise trying to get into my Instachu as a background person… Well, that was fine then. They’d run into plenty of those before.
“Hmm??” Sid hadn’t even realized Koray had been speaking and searching for something up until the moment he had found something. A spray? Ah they knew that style and brand. “This type dyes articles of clothing too…” they murmured more to themselves than to Koray. One has to be so careful with it…. But it was good. They glanced sideways at Koray now, their brow raising a bit. “…. You are very insistent about this….” they said bluntly. “Is it just pure aesthetics or something else?”
Koray could see the intrigue in Sid's eyes as he explained how much he already knew about costuming and makeup. It was a miracle that he still had the frost cream in his bag really, but the prospect of going out on the ice as Viktor sounded so fun. Even if it wouldn't be exactly picture perfect. There were probably ways of editing his appearance on camera, right? That could do it... I'm getting ahead of myself, Sid did say there would be other photo opportunities... Showing the can to Sid though made his eyes grow wide in amazement. "What, really? That's awesome! I don't have any clothes I'd be willing to spray right now... I'd better test that aspect of it first..." Koray mused, studying the can anew before Sid addressed them again.
Insistent? Oh... maybe Sid didn't want to do photos on the ice again. Not that Koray could blame them after taking a fall that bad. Rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, Koray shook his head, about to apologize when the question was asked of him. "Umm... not really? I just thought it sounded like fun... I can apply the spray to my hair in the bathroom and then go back on the ice. It never occurred to me to dress up as someone else aside from Halloween I guess," Koray murmured, moving to put the can down for now. Arceus, his stomach felt all twisted up in knots now. Right. Maybe he should just drop the subject instead.
Sid’s lips pressed together into a fine line, and their eyebrows mimicked the gesture. “Consider… we just met. You express what you’re interested in doing… and the other person tries to borrow your clothing, potentially go shopping, and or go to great lengths to incorporate themself into what you were doing,” they said slowly, carefully, calmly.
They waited a moment and then went on. “It can be unsettling, especially for….” They paused, not entirely sure they wanted to disclose their Chutube status or not. “Someone here by myself.” They decided instead. “So that is why I asked. I understand the desire and obsession but… I do not want… anything to happen.” A small smile quirked at the corners of their mouth. “Apologies.”
As Sid started to explain, Koray felt the knots in his stomach tighten more. His face burned with what they were insinuating and his hands moved to cover his face as if that would somehow help. Nevermind the tips of his ears were just as bright red as his face. Maybe he had moved too fast but... he'd just gotten so excited in trying something new that he didn't stop to realize how it might be taken.
"N-n-n-no!" Koray sputtered, feeling his chest tighten from the anxiety of the moment. How could I be so stupid. "I mean... sorry... I just-..." Clearly what were words at this point in time. He just... couldn't string a few coherent words together at this point. Rowan felt his anxiety and made a concerned sound, going over to settle into his lap. The reassurance of the Phantump was enough to help Koray breathe again, closing his eyes for a moment to just try and relax.
"I just... I got excited... th-that's all... I wouldn't-... I- I mean..." Koray murmured, trying and failing to explain. Thank Arceus the egg chose that moment to hatch. The bright glow of the egg was enough to draw Koray's attention to it and away from the fact that he was dying from embarrassment. When the glow faded, Koray made a strangled sort of sound and held a hand to his head at the sudden onslaught of voices coming from the Spiritomb. Even Elanor was uneasy from the behavior of the hatchling. She waved her arms frantically, trying to calm the Spiritomb down... or at least try to stop him from talking too much.
"Ngh... C-calm down..." Koray tried to say, only to have several of the Spiritomb spirits screech in his head. Shit.... It almost felt like some of those spirits were angry but the sheer amount of them was overwhelming to say the least of things. Koray was already starting to see black at the corner of his vision.
The color that shot up Koray’s features was enough to warm Sid’s some from secondhand embarrassment alone. Oh dear…. As Koray sputtered and apologized, Sid let out a slow breath in response. They were not going to say it was fine, because it wasn’t, but they really didn’t have any other idea on what phrase to use in this case. “Eto… ettoo….” they muttered instead shifting from one foot to the other and back again. “M….”
At the explanation, they just sort of nodded. They had guessed as much, but having actual confirmation was good too. The glow of the egg, though, was enough to catch their periphrial vision as well. Oh dear…. They hoped whatever was hatching would not inherit the embarrassment around them. Oh, nope, it was doomed to be Arceus’s cursed child instead. As the Spiritomb took form, Sid immediately straightened some. Trainers with that Pokemon tended to –
“Woah!” Sid’s thoughts cut out as they moved in quick to catch Koray least he hit the ground. “Are you ok???” They really uh… didn’t know what was happening, and rather than stress their brain decided triage was the correct response. Ok, what did they need to do. “Can you speak? Can you tell me what happened?” Nurse questions flowed like water.
Whatever embarrassment that Koray had felt right then was erased by the overwhelming shock at having a Spiritomb appear. He... hadn't expected such a thing to affect him so much. I'm such a fool... Why hadn't he thought about the lore regarding Spiritomb before agreeing to take on the egg? Before he knew it, arms wrapped around him, preventing him from hitting the floor. That was a small mercy. The splitting headache caused by the voices screaming in his head? That was something that was rather hard to explain.
"Ngh... y-yes..." Koray managed, only barely managing to sit down on one of the benches. Elanor and Rowan were both scolding the Spiritomb now. Not that it was helping much with how angry some of the spirits trapped in the base were. Speaking of telling a complete stranger something personal... this wasn't exactly how Koray wanted anyone to find out about his "special" talents. Hhhh, but what choice did he have?
"Spirit... s-sensing... he's... screaming...h-hurts..." Would that make sense? Koray didn't know, but he did manage to vaguely gesture to the newly hatched Spiritomb. Of course the Spiritomb would choose that moment to try and talk about probably over 100 different things. Some voices were screaming, others whispers. None of this was helping Koray much.

Sid winced a little encouraging Koray to sit down on the floor rather than one of the benches. Any sort of elevation was just asking to be dropped again. They didn’t see anything physically wrong with him, but fainting spells had many different causes. Would he even know what was wrong? Sid didn’t know even as they asked the questions—
Spirit sensing? What? Like Sabrina??? No wait, did Sabrina have that or? Does it matter? Not really. “Ok… ok, just breathe… stay still for now,” they spoke calmly, firmly.
Thereafter, their eyes flashed up to the Spiritomb, and the lore surrounding them flickered in the back of their mind. Mmmmm well… Sid shifted, grabbing their bag and pulling out a Pokeball. Enlarging it, they immediately tossed it at the Spiritomb. Baby Pokemon tended to be easy to capture, and hopefully from there, they could focus more of their efforts on Koray’s …. Situation.
Koray would listen as Sid coaxed him to sit on the floor rather than the benches. Either way, he wasn't exactly in the mood to argue with someone that clearly knew how to care for others. He vaguely remembered Sid mentioning that they were a nurse which... made sense now that Koray thought about it. Or... well, tried to think about it. It was nice that Sid didn't question his attempt at an explanation. All Koray could do at that point was nod, seeing spots in the corner of his vision again as the voices screamed at him, demanding to be heard.
At least that was until the ball was thrown and suddenly the voices stopped. Koray about cried with relief as he just, tried to breathe. His head still hurt from the echoes of voices and it only just occurred to him how badly he was shaking. There had been... so much anger among other things in the Spiritomb. Rowan and Elanor were instantly by his side, trying to comfort Koray as best they could. He was grateful for them, so very grateful and just sat there, curled up with his head in his hands, for a good few moments.
"Th-thank you..." Koray managed, his voice still shaky from the overwhelming encounter. He wasn't looking at Sid, not right then. Some part of him was afraid that they would hate him now. Just like the others that knew about his ability... this curse that plagued him. "S-sorry... about... this..." Even if it hadn't exactly been planned, Koray didn't want to be a burden on anyone, especially a virtual stranger.

“Easy, easy,” Sid murmured to the Ghost Pokemon that rushed to Koray’s side. “Don’t crowd him too much.”Or me for that matter. Sid watched Koray carefully, their eyes searching for any other signs of distress or otherwise, but as he’d settled and even thanked them, they sat back slowly.
The apology after, though, earned a small hum back. “You didn’t intend to hit the floor, so don’t apologize,” they decided back. Shifting back up, they grabbed a water bottle and came back to Koray again holding it forward. “Migraines are best dealt with with hydration and healthy consumption….” they spoke a bit softer now. “I’m sure that was…. frightening.”
Rowan and Elanor cooed in response to Sid's words, easing back just in case they were making Koray feel worse. It took a few moments before Koray could breathe a little easier, giving a shaky laugh as Sid refuted his apology. Heh. He guessed that made sense. Not like he expected a Spiritomb to be like that. No wonder Rowan and Elanor were so worried about him. Still, Koray felt pretty sick to his stomach that someone else knew that he was...different. But... Sid didn't seem to be treating him any differently. Maybe it's ok?
Beyond that, feeling the Spiritomb and... all those spirits inside it was bringing back painful memories of when he'd been around much, much worse. Koray's chest hurt, and he was fairly certain that if Rowan hadn't pushed his way into his lap, he'd be fighting off another panic attack. The swish of water drew Koray's attention back to Sid where he focused on the water bottle soon after. "...thanks..." Koray murmured, taking the water bottle and drinking some of it. It helped some, but Sid's next words earned a flinch as Koray held his Phantump closer.
"Yes... but... I've seen worse," Koray explained, putting a hand to his head, breathing a bit shakier, "It's... more of a curse, really. I only started to like it when I realized I could... connect with ghost Pokemon. I thought-..." his voice trailed off as he shook his head, far too choked up to continue. I'm an idiot. It took a few more deep breaths before he was able to finish explaining. "I thought that if it was an egg, that I'd be able to connect with it too... I'm such a fool..." Rowan made a loud sound of protest at that, but only got a small, self-deprecating laugh in return.

Sid’s lips parted and then pressed into a fine line as Koray spoke. They weren’t even sure exactly what Koray had seen let alone what could be worse than that. What all spirit sensing entailed was beyond them. More of curse… than a gift. They could imagine but couldn’t relate. They knew psychics existed but not all of what their particular struggles and hardships were. But still….
A careful hand reached up to Koray’s head and pat him there. “Daijobu….” they murmured softly ruffling his hair some. “Cutting yourself down does nothing but hurt you,” they went on. “So long as you’re alive, you can recover from anything: injuries, events, or otherwise. The human body is interesting like that.” Their words were monotone now but soft with a certain level of reserve but also care to be had.
Their hand moved away as Sid moved away, rummaging in their bag a moment before pulling out a lollipop. “Here, it’s not as fancy as a doctor’s, but you should have it anyways.” They held it forward.
The hand on his head was... unexpected, but not unwelcome. Sid's murmured words had Koray looking back up at him, recognizing the first word as something he'd heard in Johto. Curiosity crossed his features briefly before Sid went on, saying he shouldn't cut himself down. Heh. Alive huh? Sometimes he wondered if there was a point to it all. Ah, but Rowan was protesting the moment he thought that. Smiling down at the Phantump, Koray pat Rowan's head briefly.
"Yeah..." Koray mumbled, not feeling quite so shaky now. He almost expected Sid to just get up and leave, to say that they didn't want to be associated with him. At least that was until Sid pulled something out of their bag and held it forward. A lollipop? That... was unexpected to say the least of things.
Still, the explanation that followed earned a soft laugh from Koray as he accepted it, "Thanks," he stated, smiling a little bit more, "I mean it... People... don't usually like me once they know." A shake of his head was given before he leaned back, closing his eyes, "So thanks for sticking around." After that, Koray unwrapped the lollipop and stuck it in his mouth. It wasn't exactly healthy but it was something else to focus on instead of how uncomfortable this had been. I want to dance. Probably not the best idea just yet though.
Post by Sidney Ridley on Dec 30, 2019 13:42:02 GMT
A soft smile pulled onto Sid’s features as Koray accepted the lollipop. As he went on, though, they reached back and tapped their chin looking thoughtful. “Odd,” they decided. “In Saffron, you would be considered very special. I suppose feeling othered is just part of human nature..” They shrugged their shoulders once seemingly indifferent on both sides. Being otaku even in Kanto was often frowned upon. That didn’t stop Sid in the least.
The thanks thereafter eared a shake of head. “As a nurse, I know better than to leave someone in peril.” Physical, psychological, emotional, it didn’t matter. “I should probably get going though so long as you’re alright now.”
At the first word from Sid, Koray raised an eyebrow. How was that 'odd'? He'd always been spurned for this talent so it wasn't exactly anything new to him. Of course the knowledge that there was a place where he'd be considered special stopped him short. "Oh..." Koray murmured, not quite sure how to respond to that, "I had no idea... I've always been spurned for it..." he continued quietly, patting Rowan as he looked a little thoughtful. Maybe my life would've been different there. He would never know now would he.
Sid's next words earned a softer smile from Koray as he nodded, "Regardless, I'm glad you're here still," he stated after a moment, handing an empty pokeball to Sid, "Here, to replace the one you used on Spiritomb." The next statement earned a a slight nod before Koray slowly rose to his feet. Right, I need to bring in the cameras. "Yeah, I think I'm good. I'll get your cameras now. Sorry, guess I forgot them when the eggs started to hatch." Well, among other things.
While Koray did feel a little shaky on his feet still, he figured he felt well enough to skate for a little bit. Besides, it would help to relax him a little. Lacing up his skates, Koray stood and tested his balance hesitantly. So far so good. "Did you want to go back on the ice or are you done for the day?" It was always better to ask than to assume.
