"Alright mates, time for some good ol fashioned curry!" Marley's pokemon gathered around in the little campsite that Marley had set up. It was late afternoon, and Marley had gotten himself some good cooking equipment. The lanky Galarian sat cross legged before the large pot, looking over the ingredients he had purchased.
You'd curry wouldn't be a big thing for someone like Marley, but then again, the man was Galarian. Trainers in Galar cooked the stuff often. And now that Marley was a trainer himself, he wanted to take a crack at it. The main issue though was, well, he wasn't much of a cook. This would be the first time he ever did anything like this. He was honestly flying blind.
He looked over the ingredients he had gotten out for himself. Some meat, plenty of berries. Hmm, perhaps something with a bit of spice, something to bring out the flavour of the meat. Best to play it safe his first time around. With as much skill as a novice chef would be expected to have, he started cutting up the ingredients and dropped them into the broth. Ok, now to fan the flames.
With one hand, he fanned the small cooking fire underneath the pot, while with his other hand, he stirred it. His pokemon watched around him, curious to see how this creation of his would turn out.
Time seemed to drag on as he worked at the curry. It was hard to tell just how long he had been cooking for. But, after what seemed like an eternity, he was finished. He served some up with some rice, and sat the plate on his lap. "Alright, let's see how this turned out," he murmured to himself, taking a spoonful and taking a bite.
As soon as the spoon reached his mouth, he felt it. He froze for a second, his brain lagging behind as it tried to comprehend just what he tasted. His eyes bugged out as the sudden heat washed through his mouth like a forest fire. This...had been a horrible mistake.
The other pokemon saw what was coming and quickly moved to cover, before Marley let out a loud roar. He almost felt like he was breathing fire! Too much spice! Too much spice!
He quickly grabbed a bottle of water and started chugging it as fast as he could. He could have sworn he saw steam coming out. Dropping the empty bottle to the ground, he sat there, panting heavily. Ok, so not as much spice next time.
Meanwhile, since some bushes, a Simipour who had been drawn by the smell, had feinted at the sight of the eyepatched man screaming at the top of his lungs.
It took Marley a little bit, sitting there to try and recover from what could be considered an absolute abomination of cooking. Marley made a mental note to purchase a recipe book from town next time he got the chance to. Seriously, how many taste buds did he cost himself with this 'meal'? Marley's pokemon slowly approached him, giving him sympathetic looks at his failure. Marley just gave a small smile. "Aw, don't worry about it mates. I'll get it sooner or later."
At that point, there was a rustling in the bushes. The Simipour had woken up and decided to high tail it out of there. Marley, now curious, inspected the bushes, only finding a yellow Apricorn it had left behind. He stared at it for a moment, before shrugging and putting it away.
It took him a little bit to clean up the camp site and dispose of his 'cooking' (ie; burying it deep so it could never hurt anyone anymore.), and soon Marley was back on his way. It seemed to be a quiet day, now that everything had calmed down.
In fact, he was so caught up in the chill of the day, that he almost tripped over the Slowpoke that wandered in front of him. Marley let out a yelp, stumbling and managing to keep himself upright, before looking back at the small, dopey pokemon.
The Slowpoke barely even noticed. Marley looked down at it. He had half a mind to sick Maggie on it. the ghost pokemon could make short work of it. And yet, that was the thing with Slowpokes. They were so dopishly adorable that you couldn't bring yourself to get mad at them.
Marley sighed, walking over and dropping a pokeball on it.
Marley couldn't help but chuckle as the Slowpoke was pulled into the ball, and then promptly captured. Well, that was easy. He couldn't help but think back to his previous encounter with one, with Aster. He wondered how she would react to him having caught one. Well, they may be dopey little things, but he had long since learned that they can evolve into something great. Pocketing the pokeball, he continued on his way down the path.
Man, Marley was encountering a lot of water type pokemon lately. Well, he did hear that the Bass city gym was focused on water types. Did it just mean that water pokemon were drawn to the area? Well, whatever the case, there was now a Croconaw in front of him, ready for a fight. Marley couldn't help but smirk. Well, if it was a fight it wanted...
"Amp, let's have some fun, shall we?" he said, flicking out the pokeball, and releasing the magnemite onto the field. The floating magnetic pokemon looked over at Croconaw, a look of determination in its eye. The Croconaw let out a roar before charging right at Amp, singing its teeth into its hard, metal body with a powerful bite. Marley could almost here the metal buckling under the pressure. "Amp!" Marley yelled out, "Hit it with a Thunder Wave!" From this close, it was almost impossible to miss. Croconaw's eyes bugged out as electricity shot through it, causing it to stumble back as its muscles locked up. Marley smirked. "Ok, time to hit it with a Thundershock!"
With Croconaw locked up with paralysis, it couldn't dodge the incoming bolt of electricity that sent shocks through its body. It could barely cry out as it spasmed and collapsed to the ground.
Marley looked over the pokemon before him, wondering if he should try catching it. Thinking for a moment, he decided against it. He already had a couple of water types. Why deny anyone else the opportunity to catch a strong looking pokemon? "Good fight mate," Marley said, both to Amp and the fallen Croconaw, before continuing on his way.
Ok, Marley was getting a little bit, well, bored of all the water pokemon turning up. Once was alright. Two, fair enough. But three? That was more than should be expected on a place that wasn't completely waterlogged. And yet, here was an Inkay in front of him. Well, they did this song and dance before.
"Ok, Amp, let's do this shall we? Hit it with a Thundershock!" The Magnemite didn't need to be told twice as it launched a shot right at Inkay. The little squid let out a yelp as it was shocked, though Marley couldn't help but notice that the attack didn't seem to do as much as it should have.
And then came a psybeam which sent Amp flying back. Marley's eyes bugged out. "Wha!?"He pulled out his pokedex to check. Turned out Inkay was a psychic and dark type. "Oooooh."Marley couldn't help but find that familiar. Wasn't there a pokemon in Galar that looked like an octopus, but wasn't a water type? Strange how the tentacled ones were the deceptive ones.
And fortunately, Marley had something up his sleeve. "Ok, come on back Amp!"he called out, recalling his Magnemite, "Your time to shine Alley!"As the Zoruo appeared, the Inkay tried to fire off another Psybeam, only to find that it didn't work. Being a dark type itself, it was aware that psychic attacks didn't work on it. Well, it was time to get physical. "Alley, Sucker Punch!"Another thing with dark types, they didn't play fair. The Inkay had the wind knocked out of it by the blow. And Marley was ready with a pokeball.
"Alright then you little faker, time to get in the ball!"
[Capture Attempt with a pokeball]

Another successful capture! Marley smiled, patting Ally on the head as he went to pick up the pokeball. "Good girl Ally. You did great." He gave the pokeball a flick, and it was off to the PC with the others not on the team. He looked at the Zoruo with pride, before recalling her to the pokeball. He made a mental note to treat her to something good when they reached Bass city.
Water water everywhere, so let's all have a drink! That was how this little journey was turning out to be. Though in this case, there was something about these two pokemon that caught Marley's attention. The large pink and white piece of coral in front of him. Now, Marley was no stranger to Corsola. Galar had them as well. Though in Galar, they were pale, and most notably undead. Seeing one that was alive was just, well, it was a new experience. So this is what they look like when they're alive.
Well, Marley wasn't going to miss out on this chance. Amp was a bit beaten up from the past two encounters, but thankfully Marley had something that could really help. "Maggie! Come on out!" he called out, unleashing the Mismagius onto the pair before him. The Corsola blinked lazily, while the Dweott prepared for battle. Marley smirked. "Mismagius, Magical Leaf!" Bet they weren't expecting a ghost type to have that. The Dewott was sent flying back as the magic charged leaves struck him hard. Meanwhile, the poor Corsola was knocked completely senseless by the attack. Being a water/rock type really sucked at times, didn't it?
And Marley was ready with the ball. He had his attention firmly on the coral. "Alright, time to get in the ball!" he yelled out, throwing the ball.
"Dammit," Marley muttered. He had been curious to catch that Corsola. As the pokemon fled the scene, he walked over to the discarded pokeball, picking it up and examining it. Well, at least it hadn't been broken. He tucked the ball back into his coat, he continued on down the road.
