A short, haughty laugh caused Marley to pause. It was the kind of laugh that held a sense of superiority to it, laughing at those lower than it. And Marley got the distinct impression that it was directed at him. Slowly, he turned towards the direction of the sound.
A young woman, dressed in highly fashionable clothing, was standing nearby, under the shade of a tree. And, as he guessed, she was looking right at him. Her expression just seemed to carry a sense of superior amusement. "Oh dear, two pokemon at once, and not a single one caught. A real shame," she said, looking at her nails, "I mean, I certainly wouldn't have let that beautiful little piece of coral get away."
Marley gave a small shrug, trying to let her words roll off his back. "Eh, ya win some, ya lose some. Sometimes ya just get unlucky." The woman gave a small snort. "Indeed, after all, we all can't be as fortunate to be as beautiful and talented as myself." Marley's eye narrowed. "Ya just want me to kick yer arse, don't ya?" The woman giggled. "Oh good, you CAN piece things together," she pulled out a pokeball, "So, let me show you how real pokemon perform. Come on out Mismagius!"
Marley was a little surprised to see another Mismagius, albeit this one was smaller. He was about to call out Maggie to roast the damn thing when he stopped himself. Calm down Marley. She's tryin' to rile ya up. Think about this. Indeed, Mismagius could do some damage, but she herself would be too. A thought crossed his mind as a smirk appeared on his face. "Alright, let's see how ya go. Come on out Ally!" The Zoruo appeared before him, giving out a small yelp. The woman gave a short laugh. "Aw, how cute! A shame she had to end up with someone like you. Alright Mismagius, Phan-" "Sucker Punch." "Eh?" Before she realized what was happening, Ally shot forward and smacked the Mismagius right in the face. Her eyes widened in shock. "Hey!" Marley laughed. "What's wrong? Never fought a dark type before?" The woman let out a growl, her haughty composure temporarily broken, "Mismagius, Magic-" "Sucker Punch!" "STOP THAT!" Oh, watching this little Zoruo smacking the larger Mismagius, and her trainer starting to flip out was priceless.
"Mismagius! Phantom Force!" This time, the Mismagius' attack did go off, dark spiritual slamming into the smaller pokemon. The woman let out a laugh of triumph. "Ha! There! How do you like that, huh? No sucker punching this time, huh?"
Marley merely smirked. "Ally, Pursuit." Climbing back to her feet, seemingly fine, Ally shot out at high speed, closing in on the already battered Mismagius and slamming into her. The ghost let out a final cry as she hit the floor. "The funny thing about Dark types," Marley said, his grin widening, "They're underhanded, sneaky, pragmatic, and, oh, strong against ghosts!" He gave a sinister chuckle. "Talk about unlucky, eh?"
