Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
The man had officially taken his first steps in the Arciel Region, starting out on the route immediately after the lab like many young trainers had in the region. He wasn't young, nor was he a trainer but he felt this was a fitting way to start his journey. His large camera hung from his neck and Adian couldn't quite stop fidgeting with it as he looked along the rolling hills. Large fluffy clouds above his head sent large shadows lazily moving through the grassy route.
He was here for one reason - to find the oddly colored pokemon and get some award winning pictures of them. With three full pokeballs in his pocket he felt safe traveling through the new region with very little knowledge of it. With little to go on Adian had figured his best shot at finding them was to get into the wild.
His team of pokemon were also new to him, all gained pretty quickly coming into the region via breeders or a random chance game he had happened to try out. While no stranger to pokemon he hadn't really taken the time to bond with them yet, his quest to snag some photos too alluring to take a moment. Hopefully this wouldn't bite him in the ass down the road but the man was determined to continue onward.
While people mingled about on the route none seemed to really bother with Adian as he continued on, eyes flicking back and forth for something - anything that might lead him to his prize. So focused on his quest that Adian would nearly run into another man dressed as punky and dark as he was. Intending to mumble his apology and keep going Adian would find that the other man had a different idea.
"'Ey! Watch where the heck you're going. You stupid or something?" Ender would yell somewhat aggressively for not being touched.
"Uh, sorry dude. I didn't mean to--" Adian was cut off.
"Didn't mean to, what? Try to feel up one me? What a freak. Yo, ever'body get a look at this freak! He's try'na touch you while you find pokemon. Watch out, over hear!" Ender would cry, screaming and waving his hands. This would attract the attention of the various people on the route and Adian felt his cheeks begin to burn bright red as he was accused of something rather horrible crime.
"No, that's not it at all I just wasn't watching where I was going!" Adian stammered, suddenly flustered as he reached for his pocket where the pokeballs sat.
"Now ya wanna battle, huh?" Ender would quip, eyes glancing at Adian's defensive posture. "Sure, I'll battle a freak like you. Make you think twice before you sneak up on someone!"
Before Adian could reply Ender had tossed his own pokeball, a Bunnelby popping out with a flash of red. It would appear his first steps into Arciel would be marred by an uncomfortable interaction and a pokemon battle. Growing up in a pokemon world meant knowing how trainer battles worked but he had participated in so few prior to this moment. It wasn't like he had much choice now, however. With a flick of his wrist Adian would send out Cyndaquil.
The tiny fire type would come roaring out of his pokeball, quickly assess the situation then stand rather confidentially across from his opponent. Bunnelby would begin the battle by leering from across the way. "Alright Cyndaquil let's use tackle." Adian said, his voice wavering with his clear lack of confidence.
Cyndaquil would shoot forward happily, barreling into the soft body of the Bunnelby who let out a pained cry. "'Nough of that Bugs," Ender said harshly, "Mud slap the shit outta that pest."
Before Cyndaquil could retreat he would be pelted with mud, the attack hurting him and clouding his eyes. Adian would wince in sympathy of his pokemon before ordering another tackle attack to which Bunnelby would mirror, tackling his own pokemon in return. Pretty quickly it became clear that his Cyndaquil wasn't quite up to par with Ender's aggressive pokemon.
Reaching into his pocket Adian would grab whatever pokeball his fingers touched first and tossed it, releasing his Skiddo into the fray. "Skiddo use tackle!" Adian cried, uncaring that he was technically breaking official battle rules by allowing two pokemon on the field, but he'd be damned if this bully would take down Cyndaquil in his first battle as a team.
Skiddo wasted no time in stepping in front of his hurt team mate and ramming himself head first into the Bunnelby, the attack stunning him so much she stumbled back and fainted on the grass.
"Yo, that ain't fair bruh!" Ender yelled, withdrawing his fainted pokemon and stamping his feet. Adian would hastily swoop down and scoop up his small fire type and click his tongue for Skiddo to follow him while he beat a quick retreat. With his battle won Adian made quick work of putting as much space between himself and Ender as possible.
OOC: Added in Leafeon since he never truly showed his party yet, hopefully it works with liquid time!

Ender was long gone before Adian and his two released pokemon stopped taking long strides away from that area they had been in. The man was winded when he eventually put down Cyndaquil, sitting down with a sigh. "That was weird, right guys? It's not always like this in Arciel is it? I mean back home there was bullies and bad guys but never people to get randomly hostile if you almost bump into them..?" Adian found himself asking his two pokemon who simply stared at him curiously. "Yeah, probably bad luck." Adian said with a nod when he realized neither of their looks would offer any insight into the situation that had just occurred.
He didn't have long to ponder the question when he heard the humming and bouncing noise of a pokemon crossing their path. It was a familiar trill - <"Zuu zuu, azuuma zuu!~"> Singsong in nature as the sight of a cute Azurill would sing her little song as she bounced past the trainer and his pokemon. The water type didn't seem to care much about their presence as she made her way happily by.
Instinctively Adian would reach for the camera that hung around his neck and peer down the lens, the sound of click shutter clicking as he took numerous photos of the pokemon before she was obscured by the tall grass and eventually out of sight. Cyndaquil would crawl onto his lap as he brought the camera down to view the video display on the high end camera.
Many of the pictures where in motion, blurry as the cute little pokemon had bounced on by but one or two seemed like they would be good if he got it into an image editor. Wrapped in his thoughts Adian would long miss his chance to interact with the Azurill.
"See this photo Cyndaquil?" Adian would explain, dropping the camera lower so the fire type perched on his legs could view it better. "Do you see how it's really blurry compared to this one...?" He would ask, hitting the next button on the display to show the photo of the Azurill mid-bounce, the motion blur not visible.
"That's what you get with a quick shutter speed." Adian explained to his pokemon as if he was talking to a child. While he wondered if the fire type understood of even cared about what he had to say Adian was happy to explain his love of film to anyone or anything that listened. "When we get back to a City I can spend some time with an image editor and get the lighting just right. Maybe we could submit this photo to a local journal or two and see what it nets us, huh?" He continued happily.
Cyndaquil would coo happily with his trainer, clearly happy to be apart of things even if he didn't understand a word of it. Mimicking his trainer he would hit the next button on the camera display quickly, zooming through the numerous pictures Adian had taken. "Ah! You're interested in becoming a photographer too?" Adian said happily, patting his fire type's head in an almost fatherly like way. "We'd have to find you a small camera, specialized for your paws..." The words went from joking to sincere as Adian pondered how real such a feat would be.

Before long the sweet bonding moment between trainer and pokemon would be over. While Skiddo had been happy to munch on the grass nearby while the two sat he would eventually get bored, trotting over to Adian and nosing him in the back curiously. "Yeah, it's about time to head out, you're right. We won't find anything sitting here." Adian said as he gently set Cyndaquil upon the back of Skiddo and sat up.
In the back of him mind he would also note he didn't wanna run into that guy again. The moment fiddling with his camera had calmed him down quite a bit, as it always did, but he couldn't forget the weird run in. Making sure his camera was secure on his neck the trio would continue their walk randomly through the route, following well worn paths through the tall grass from trainer's and pokemon before.
Ever since arriving to Arciel Adian had found himself insanely impressed with the way water pokemon would transport themselves on land. Floating in balls of water seemed magical but common. Of course he would get to experience the rather cool phenomenon again once the trio would run into a floating Alomomola along the trail.
While the man would sit back and gaze at in in awe he would also find himself realizing it was time to give his pokemon team another test. Deciding to forego snapping a picture he would reach into his pocket and grab the pokeball containing his recently won Leafeon. It was about time to see what his quickly growing team was made of, after all.
With a flick of his wrist Adian would toss out his grass type, smiling as the pokemon roared happily at being set loose from it's pokeball. "Hey Leafeon, ready for a battle?" Adian asked, recalling how the man at the game plaza told him that this particular pokemon was quite a battler.
In response Leafeon roared once again, squaring his body in an offensive posture towards the Alomomola who had seen the trainer and realized by now a fight was coming. Adian took a second to recall the moves the man had told him Leafeon knew before calling out his first attack, "Swift attack!"
In a speed of light Leafeon would oblige, slamming into the floating water type before it could even react. Alomomola would spin out of control for a moment before righting itself and using Hydro Pump. While the move in general was devastating the type advantage Leafeon had made him giggle and shake the water from his fur as he pranced back to Adian to await his next order.
Adian himself couldn't help but smirk as he queued the next move, "Razor leaf." He said confidentially. Once again his fire type would square up then shoot a row of sharp leafs at the water type. By the way the pokemon recoiled and faltered it was clear the had been a critical attack. With the last bit of life left in it Alomomola would counter with healing wish, effectively knocking itself out and landing with a wet thud on the ground.
"Yeah! That's the way to do it Leafeon, good job!" Adian cheered happily, stooping down to pat the head of the grass type as it came up to him. A light snow would begin to fall as the trainer straightened himself up and recalled Leafeon.
Skiddo and Cyndaquil who had been watching from behind him would come forward, the fire type nuzzling his hand from where it sat on top of Skiddo. Just as Adian was about to walk over towards the fallen pokemon, somewhat concerned that it's bubble of water was now gone his Skiddo would stop and freeze, eyes widening as he bolted off towards their left. Cyndaquil squealed in surprise, holding on extra tight to not be knocked off as his riding pokemon sprinted off.
"Hey, what? Wait?!" Adian called out, sprinting off after it. The chase was short and would ultimately lead to a tall patch of grass wherein an odd object was laying. A blue and yellow pokemon egg lay in the dirt. Skiddo anxiously nosed it, casting his eyes up at Adian then back at the cold egg.
Instinctively Adian would reach down and put his bare palms on the egg, feeling how cold it was. No stranger to abandoned nests and eggs in his day as a pokemon photographer he would frown and shake his head at Skiddo, silently trying to convey this egg was long since lost. The normally calm pokemon would growl, stomping his foot and once again nosing the egg then looking back up to Adian. "Hey bud, it's been really cold here... We have no idea how long this egg has been out here. It's not warm, see?" Adian said gently, kneeling down and once again placing his hand on the egg to make his pokemon understand.
As he did so he would faintly feel a... heartbeat?? "Oh, shit!" Adian cried, scooping up the egg and tucking it inside the winter jacket he was wearing. "Good call Skiddo. Do you see a nest nearby, parents perhaps?" He asked, eyeing up the area. When neither of his pokemon or himself could see anything he would sigh, realizing this half frozen egg was now his responsibility.
OOC: IC post of gaining the shinx egg he won in the gacha!
Within seconds of picking up the egg a sudden loud hissing noise would come from the grass and three Yungoos would pour out from the slightly frozen foliage. It took Adian only a second to realize he had just taken their dinner and they seemed rather hellbent on getting it back. For the briefest of moments he would waffle between dropping the egg and fighting but that small helpless twitch he felt of the egg nestled in his jacket changed his tune.
Of the three pokemon one seemed impressively large and clearly the leader of the pack. From the way it stood Adian could tell it was way stronger than he was used to. Skiddo would back up, carrying Cyndaquil with him as they looked up to their trainer for guidance. Carefully wrapping one arm around the egg Adian would reach into his pocket and throw his remaining two pokeballs - unleashing Sylveon and Leafeon to join his other two between the hoard.
"All four of you, I need your help. They want this egg and I ain't having that! Get ready for a battle!" Adian roared, feeling a wave of adrenaline wash over him. It was a feeling he'd experienced before when he would line up his camera for that perfect shot and to feel it in face of a hoard of angry pokemon was new.
The two smaller, weaker Yungoos would fan out on either side of the massive one, leering aggressively at the team and lowering their defense. Shifting his gaze he realized taking them out then focusing their remaining power on the large one would be their best bet.
"Cyndaquil use smokescreen!" Adian ordered, knowing the attack would also lower the accuracy of his own team but hoped it would help by making a blanket of fog between himself and the strongest opponent. "Leafeon, use swift! Skiddo use vine whip on the one on the right, Sylveon use quick attack on the one on the right too!"
His pokemon would do as they were told. The cloud of thick smoke would fill the area by the Yungoos but both Leafeon and Sylveon would rush through it, slamming their bodies into the Yungoos who was finished by the vine whip before he knew would hit him. Swift would manage to attack the massive one as it slammed into the one on the right. "Great job guys!" Adian cried happily, suddenly feeling much better about the battle now that it was down to the two versus his four.
Of course that feeling was short lived as the massive Yungoos would spring forward, fire spitting from her maw as she sank her teeth into Sylveon. The grass type would roar in pain before instantly succumbing to the brutal attack. Adian would quickly withdraw his fainted pokemon back into the pokeball and frown, suddenly feeling less than prepared.
A sudden idea came into his head as he shifted his attention to the massive Yungoos. "Sylveon use copycat on that big Yungoos!" Adian roared. The battle ready fairy type cooed his understanding and suddenly flames would shoot from his mouth. Rushing forward he would sink his own teeth into the flesh of the large weasel looking pokemon, the brutal move obviously hurting the Yungoos ever so. lDSHJdWAp_ p_
"Quick, Cyndaquil use tackle and Skiddo use vine whip. Take out the other Yungoos on the left." The pokemon did as they were told, bringing the Yungoos' health down but not quite knocking it out. It would counter with a tackle, knocking into Cyndaquil as he retreated. The massive leader would take her turn again, launching another fire fang at Skiddo, it was clear that the pokemon had been around for awhile and knew type advantages.
By the grace of Arcues or perhaps the smoke screen she would miss the grass type by just a hair, sending the pokemon scrambling to his right and screaming in terror. "Sylveon use quick attack, knock it out. Cynadquil and Skiddo focus your attacks on the big one, vine whip and tackle!"
As ordered Sylveon would use another quick attack, knocking out the last of the weaker Yungoos and fainted it. The other two would focus their attacks on the towering normal type, knocking into it while the pokemon barely flinched. By now Adian would realize he underestimated the large pokemon's power and hoped the trio of pokemon could withstand the coming attacks as they whittled it's health down. The gentle movement in his jacket from the egg reminded Adian he couldn't lose now.
Persistent in her attacks the last Yungoos would once again launch a fire fang at Skiddo, sinking her teeth into his flank and knocking him out within seconds. Adian cried out unhappily as he returned the pokemon but knew once again what to do. "Sylveon, copy cat! Cyndaquil use tackle again!"
Once again Sylveon would copy the Yungoos' devastating move, sinking his own teeth into that of his opponent. p_ p_ Cyndaquil would attack once again with a tackle. This time the large pokemon would stagger a bit as she turned her attention to Sylveon. Using a thunder fang she would knock out the fairy type, causing Adian once again to roar in anger as he returned his third pokemon to the ball. It was now down to Cynaquil in a now-or-never attempt at winning.
Sending a prayer to whatever god that may be Adian ordered another tackle. With his eyes closed as his fire type slammed into the beast of a Yungoos he would only open them when he heard a thud - expecting to see his tiny little fire type on the ground and the normal type towering over him demanding both the egg and his life. What lay before him was his starter cooing happily as h started at the bodies before him. "Holy shit Cynadquil, you did it." He said in awe, mouth agape as he realized his pokemon had landed a critical move, just enough to knock out the pokemon.
"Let's get the heck out of here before it wakes up, okay?" Adian said, not wasting time in turning on his heels and heading in the exact opposite direction of where they were heading.

TAG: This Wimpod lashes out when put in a situation where he's fighting pokemon who are levels above him, as he's terrified of confrontation and scared of getting hurt. Unless trained he'll refuse to listen to his trainer and act of his own occord during wild battles, with a 50% chance to not fight and run away all together.
REQUIREMENTS: 0/1 training thread to get Wimpod used to battling stronger pokemon
Until then, randomise his moves when in a wild battle with a pokemon with a higher level then him, and roll at the start to see if he flees.
Adian would travel with all of his pokemon in their balls for quite some time before he felt safe enough to stop. In fact it would be the burning in his thighs and pain in his feet that would cause the man to stop the very brisk walk he had been taking to get him away from the swarm he had encountered. With most of him team fainted and only his starter who was rather exhausted he didn't feel safe on the route, especially when it seemed like many pokemon were after the egg he held snuggled in his jacket.
Finding a secluded on the edge of a small group of trees the man would finally feel safe enough to ease up. It took some time be he would carefully build up the camp via the small tent he had brought and building a small campfire in which to cook some food from tins. Adian built the campfire and set the pokefood and his own can of green beans on the fire before releasing his four pokemon. All but Cyndaquil seemed pleased to be released, the remaining three groaned from their hard battle and would make their way to the warmth before laying down.
Both Skiddo and Leafeon would occasionally look at the bruising on their side's from the attacks they had sustained and whine, causing Adian to frown. Sure he had battled before but never had he been in a situation where his whole team was brought to their knees. Without saying anything he would finish warming their meals and set a plate out before each pokemon hoping the food would bring them some strength and comfort.
All four seemed quite happy with the dinner and soon seemed to forget their troubles as they ate. In the meantime Adian placed the egg carefully by the edge of the fire, propping it up against the rock circled pit he created. Before long the sun would fall and he would usher his pokemon into the tent, hoping a night spent sleeping in the comfort of sleeping bags and blankets would help them heal from the fight earlier. Sylveon would curl around the egg as he slept.
And as morning rose on the small camp the small would find themselves feeling much better. Not perfect but much better. As they exited the tent to find the sun shining they'd find an unwelcome visitor - a rather ornery looking Wimpod eating the scraps from the plates Adian had carelessly left out the night before.
It hissed angrily, flaring the tentacles atop its' head as it glared down the team of pokemon emerging from the tent. Looking at his party Adian would nod down to Leafeon who seemed raring to get into another fight, the day before clearly forgotten.
"If you're feeling up to it I guess," Adian said with a shrug as the grass type looked up at him, shifting weight between his paws as he asked permission to battle. When it was granted the grass type happily moved forward, awaiting his first order. Adian squinted at the Wimpod, hoping his assumption on the typing of the opponent was correct. "Razor leaf." Adian said, hopefully.
Leafeon quickly unleashed the attack, razor sharp leaves appearing and hurling towards the Wimpod who screeched in pain as they struck him. Realizing the battle was uneven the bug type used a defense curl, wrapping its' body into a ball to hopefully prevent damage going forward. "Another razor leaf, Leafeon." Adian said, hoping the second attack would be enough to end the battle so they could keep moving.
And it was, the Wimpod took the move like a champ, screaming and seeming to want to attack back... Until it rolled onto its' side and remained motionless. Silence filled the air as the whole team would simply stare at the fainted pokemon. "Uh, good job Leafeon." Adian said awkwardly as he carefully pulled the egg from the tent and set it down by the embers of the fire.
Cyndaquil would pad over to the egg, sitting down next to it and cooing to it. Adian paid no mind to the pokebabble until his pokemon's gentle sounds became frantic. In the midst of dismantling and repacking the tent he would turn around a bit irritated... In time to see the blue and gold egg begin to shake and a long thin crack form at the top.
"Oh shit, oh shit, It's hatching!" Adian cried, dropping the tent polls and running over to the egg. "What do I do?" He asked his team frantically as they all stared at the egg - engrossed in the miracle of birth before them.
OOC: Shinx Egg Post 3/3 (posting in the hatchery now and will have it "hatch" in my next post. cyndaquil | lvl 9♂️ | small | blaze | tackle & leer | energy: 3/5 | hp: 10/10 skiddo | lvl 9♂️ | average | sap sipper | tackle & growth & grassy terrain & vine whip | energy: 3/5 | hp: 10/10 sylveon | lvl 8♂️ | average | cute charm | disarming voice & bite & copycat & quick attack| energy: 4/5 | hp: 10/10 leafeon | lvl 9♂️ | average | leaf guard | razor leaf & swift & bite & baton pass | energy: 2/5 | hp 10/10
So a lot would happen in the short span of a minute. From the egg hatching, revealing a rather small Shinx to Adian backing up in surprise and stumbling over two partially hidden pink bottles in the ground. As he picked himself up from the fall he would find himself suddenly tackled by the newly born Shinx, the small pokemon doing her hardest to return to the nook in his jacket that he had held her egg in.
Adian and his team could scarcely understand the events that events that unfolded as they did so, even as Adian picked himself up. "You okay, Shinx?" He asked gently, peering down into his jacket at the tiny pokemon curled up and shivering hard. Large gold eyes would peer up at him and coo, before nodding and nuzzling her face against his chest.
Meanwhile Cyndaquil would pad over to the two ice heals that had tripped his trainer, digging them up with his paws and rolling them towards him. Meanwhile Adian was continuing to stare down his jacket in concern. While the electric type seemed more than happy to remain in her nest Adian could feel how cold her body was and the slight shivering. Was she sick? Had he not properly nursed the egg..? He had found it half frozen in the grass, perhaps something was wrong with the small pokemon?
It didn't take long for Adian to deduce what was wrong with his new Shinx. The poor pokemon couldn't regulate her own body temperature and they were much too far from a pokemon center for him to get her checked up. And with it being the middle of winter and them camping outside he supposed the best he could do was allow her to ride in his shirt, nestled into the thick winter jacket he wore. Her rather alarmingly small size made her fit comfortably and with little strain to either Adian or his clothing.
Realizing he didn't have much choice on how to proceed from here unless he kept her cooped up in her pokeball, Adian figured the best he could was let her hitch a ride in his clothing and carry on with them. Packing up his tent the party would be on their way, traveling along route one, trekking through the small layer of snow on the ground when they'd come across a Turtwig.
Adian would ponder over if he wanted to catch the grass type, knowing it was a popular starter pokemon in his home region of Sinnoh but realized the grass type acted as a better training tool than it did an addition to his team he'd never use. Cyndaquil as per usual had taken the lead on the trek and patiently awaited his trainer's commands, pleased when he saw Adian pause, then step back as he readied himself for battle.
After a night of cozy sleep and good food Cyndaquil was ready to battle again and he roared in squeaked in delight. "Alright, let's start this off with a tackle!" Adian commanded, not for the first time mentally bemoaning his fire type's inability to use a fire attack yet.
Cyndaquil burst forward with flash of speed and rammed into the Turtwig who would quickly withdraw into himself, strengthening his defense on the next tackle Cyndaquil was commanded to use. This time Turtwig would retaliate with his own tackle to which Cyndaquil countered with his own tackle, again. It was almost comical to watch the two starters smack into each other until the Turtwig trembled on his stumpy legs and fainted.
"Good job Cyndaquil, keep that up and you'll be stronger in no time!" Adian congratulated his fire type lovingly.
It always amazed him to see water types floating by in their own bubble, especially when the water type was absolutely massive as it floated along the plains of route one. Adian's entire team would pause and watch the majestic water type float on by. Skiddo murmured his appreciation for the spectacle while Cyndaquil and Shinx kept their eyes set as it floated by.
For a moment Adian would consider sending out either of his grass types to fight the pokemon but at the last moment decided against it. His team was tired and the pokemon looked far stronger and larger than he was ready to tangle with right now. Carefully he would grab his camera from his bag, doing his best to take a few pictures of the water type before it got too far.
