[Adian Savage]

Adian had only been in Arciel for a few days now but he found himself slowly running out of money. In fact it was running out faster than anticipated. The red haired man hadn't done the best of jobs thinking ahead when it came to traveling so far from home and as such he assumed he would get another award winning photograph the first day and sort of sail on that payout.

When that wasn't the case he returned to Birch City and began asking around for side work. Surely someone had something for him to do? This was when Adian would overhear the legend of the Golden Magikarp. Being the self proclaimed angler that he was he would happily accept the challenge laid out by the city and find himself in Birch City Bay within the hour.

With his trusty rod that he had brought over from Hoenn the man would take a seat on the pier of the bay, legs hanging over and toes skimming the water as he cast out into the bay. Adian considered himself decent at the sport and knew it was just a matter of waiting for a nibble... And soon, the nibble would come!

What will you do?

Adian Savage

The water is rather placid until you feel a gentle tug on the line. As you fished it up, however, you would find you actually hooked a boot somehow? Who had left a boot in the water?

[Adian Savage]

"Gotcha, come to daddy!" Adian cried triumphantly as he felt the tug on his line. He fought the current for a moment before pulling upwards on his rod. With a spray of water Adian was ready to yell victory and return to Birch City with his prize... Or well, that had been his plan at least.

What had had managed to reel up with an old worn boot. Judging by the barnacles and wear and tear it had been at the bottom of the bay for awhile. Beginners luck, he would tell himself unhappily as he detached the footwear from his hook and set it aside to dispose of later. Not the best way to start out but at least he had caught something quick.

Setting his line again back in the water Adian could only hope for a better outcome as he cast back into the bay. Golden Magikarp here he came!

You get another pull! But it's just your line wrapped around some driftwood! Now you gotta unwind that or it'll snap! 

[Adian Savage]

The angry sound of profanity would echo over the water tops as Adian once again managed to royally screw up. This time his catch was so bad he was forced to kneel off the pier, rod poised between his knees as he carefully bent down over the water to dislodge the large piece of driftwood from his line.

As he worked he would tangle it more and more until his only option was to sigh with defeat and give up. Using a knife from his tackle box Adian would cut the line, pull up the driftwood tangled in fishing wire and set it into his now growing trash pile. So far he wasn't doing too well, but it had been awhile since his last fishing trip... The man had reasoned to himself.

With skilled hands he would reattach the fishing wire to his spool and once again cast into the bay. Not a superstitious man Adian couldn't help but cross his fingers and send a silent prayer to the powers that may be to actually catch something this time. Even just one fish...

As you're sitting fishing, a Glameow comes walking down the way and leans against you once before then looking down in the water hungrily. You feel a tug! It's a random (animal) fish! And the Glameow steals it immediately and goes sprinting off.

It had been a bit of time since his last tug on the line and the man was beginning to once again feel confidant in his abilities. After all, this wasn't his first rodeo.. fishero? As he would mull over the numerous ways to combine the words fish and rodeo in his mind he would fell the warmth of a body leaning against him. Not wanting to startle himself nor whoever it was he would crane his head to the side only to see a cute little Glameow had come to join him.

A hint of a smile crossed his face as he returned his gaze back to the water. Perhaps the random cat type pokemon was a indicator from whatever god he had called upon that his next catch would be good. As Adian considered that possibility he would feel a new tug on his line! The quick jolt was like that of a fish and quickly he pulled up, reeling in furiously and for a brief moment forgetting his pokemon companion.

That was until the carp he had just reeling in was snatched off his line by the Glameow who would only hear Adian screaming as it dashed away. For a moment he made an effort to get up and chase it before realizing such an effort was completely and totally futile. "You gotta be kidding me..." He murmured to himself, ashamed at his luck.

He had two options now. Keep going at the cost of the fishing gear he was loosing each catch or return empty handed. Well, Adian wasn't a quitter and as he tied on a new hook and cast into the water he prayed simply for one single Magikarp.

Your persistence pays off! A tug on the line, and you're reeling in! As you pull it up, however, you find that it is just a regular Magikarp, not the Golden Magikarp of legend. It flops around a bit hoping to be set free again.  

[Adian Savage]

With a quick tug of his line profanities would once again echo off the water but this time with a much happier inflection. After all his bad luck it was clear the man was happy just to snag a pokemon - even if it wasn't golden. While it flopped on the pier Adian would pat its' head gently as he patiently undid the hook from the Magikarp's mouth.

"There there little guy, you're fine..." He murmured once it was free. With a gentle toss he would send the pokemon into the bucket of water he had set up on the off chance he caught the fabled fish. Of course Adian had no qualms about turning in the water type but had been assured it was for the decorative pond the shop owner was setting up where he had been recruited to even go about looking for the golden fish.

And of course there was the reward money that came with the turning in, of course. Magikarp would splash about a bit before settling in the bucket, clearly accepting whatever fate was to come its' way as Adian once again settled back down and cast his fishing line into the pier.

Above Adian, a flock of Wingull flew over and .... well he was about to have to dodge some excrement or get hit with it. 

[Adian Savage]

The gentle call of the Wingulls was quite soothing as they lazily flew past where Adian was sitting. One of his favorite things to do while fishing was to simply watch the local flora and fauna while he sat still. Sitting still was one of his greatest talents - it had been the reason he had managed to get so many good photographs in his life. Had Adian had his camera now he would have angled in skyward, lens facing away from the sun and grabbed a shot of the birds overhead.

So lost in thought he was over the correct angle of the camera that he barely noticed the sudden warm and wet feeling on his shoulder... And then his back and, shit! Literally, shit. Looking up quickly he would narrowly manage to dodge a third dropping that would have hit him square on the head.

There were no words for his frustration as Adian angrily ripped off his shirt and threw it onto the pile of trash he had gathered earlier. He was lucky that during his dodging he hadn't dropped his line into the water but he had sure yanked it, most likely scaring away anything that might have had interest in his hook.

The wind off the water was chilly, causing the sullen man to crouch down into himself. He'd be damned if he wore a dirty shirt, and even more damned if this fishing trip didn't produce anything more than a single Magikarp! With his line still in the water he willed himself to catch something, anything.

All the troubles pay off as Adian feels a tug on the line. Pull back, pull forward, pull back, pull forward-- and there it is breaching the surface! A golden Magikarp of spectacular design has been hooked and is now trying its damndest to pull away! 

[Adian Savage]

As soon as he felt the sudden jolt he know this time he had hooked something much better than driftwood. In that moment the uncomfortably cold temperature was forgotten and his previous bad luck was nothing more than a distant memory. Within a moment he was up on his feet, holding the handle of his fishing rod tight against his body.

Whatever was on the line wanted to fight and the red haired man was ready. For a brief moment Adian would worry he had snagged something far bigger than him but when a flash of gold broke the surface he nearly screamed. Had he finally done it? In his mind he forgave the Wingulls who had so generously showered him with their filth, it was a good omen apparently.

Adian and the golden Magikarp fought with each other for quite some time. By the time he began to feel the large fish weaken his arms felt heavy and sore. Muscles burning as he breathed in rapidly for one final pull and finally! The Magikarp was on the pier.

Despite the battle between fisher and fish Magikarp continued to flail and flop on the pier, eyeing the water in its' attempts. "No so fast, you!" Adian cried, scrambling over to scoop the large fish into his arms before plopping it into the bucket he had.

Much like the other Magikarp who seemed to accept defeat once dropped in the bucket the golden one seemed to calm down, laying it's large body against the side of the water container to allow it's fellow pokemon some room. Satisfied his prey would remain calm he sat back down on the peer and wiped sweat off his forehead.

The dampness of his body and the chilling winds did little do cool Adian after such a hard battle. He considered heading back now, having caught the prize he had sought and briefly being upset he had chosen to leave his camera back in his hotel room to prevent any accidental water damage. How cool would it have been to document this moment? Perhaps he'd ask the shop owner once he got back into town to take a photo with him and the golden Magikarp.

As Adian thought about photos and fish his fishing line that had managed to roll back towards the end of the pier and dipped it's hook back below the waves would suddenly lurch, causing Adian to quickly reach out before losing it.

A normal fish is at the end of the line! Not even a Pokemon, just an animal! Far less impressive than the golden Magikarp, but it was a fish none the less! And no cats were here to take it this time.

The quick tug on his rod was a bit different, more gentle then the one's he had experienced thus far. It only took a few tugs and some quick reeling to bring back a rather... Not so impressive small fish. The little minnow would flail lightly on his rod. Adian considered detaching it and tossing it into the bucket to take home and clean but the effort would be not be worth the reward.

Besides, he was hoping for another Magikarp or two to turn in for the prize. Casting a glance back at his bucket full of the two he had already caught Adian shrugged. Tossing the small fish back into the water he would once again cast into the shining water surface. Briefly Adian would think about the Glameow and wonder if it was enjoying his previous catch. Now, that one would have been good to take home and fry up...

Another questionable tug on the line, and as you start to reel it, you find it tug a little harder. You manage to fish it up and it is indeed a Magikarp! Kinda beat up looking but they're a hardy fish.

The chill in the air was beginning to get to the red head as she sat shirtless on the pier. The adrenaline from his big catch was wearing off and when the next tug on his line came he almost missed it due to the chill in his fingers. This tug was stronger and more sure than that of his previous and from experience Adian knew it meant a pokemon.

Just like the first Magikarp he would have to straighten his shoulders and fight to tire it out. Eventually a shimmer of red would breach the surface and before long he would haul a third splashing pokemon on the peer. By the look of its' ragged fins it had been in a spat recently but it had still fought with all its' strength. Adian couldn't help but admire the feisty fish even as he unhooked it and threw it into the almost too-full bucket.

Standing up to crack his back and stretch his arms Adian would cast one more wistful glance back at the water, then back to the bucket. His luck had improved so far... So what was one more cast? Ignoring his better judgment even as he began to shiver Adian cast his line back into the water. One more bite and he'd turn in, he swore.

The next thing you fish up is.... some sort of CD? A mixtape of songs? You can squint on it and read some weird record titles or something. Ok. People stop littering.

Nothing seemed be biting as the minutes passed by and Adian felt himself becoming more and more miserable. Without realizing it he had been on the water for a few hours and the sun was sliding down the sky. The brisk wind began to pick up and his lack of shirt didn't help. With a resigned sigh Adian would reel back his line, feeling a slight tug as he did so... Some last minute luck?

When he pulled up his hook for the last time a CD dangled from the end. Gingerly he would pull it off and look at the front. "PokeRap Extended Addition" Could vaguely be seen on the worn surface. Adian couldn't help but wonder how bad the CD was for it to be tossed into the bay but he didn't intend to find out. Tossing it on the pile of trash he collected Adian would bring the litter to a nearby bin and toss it.

Cleaning up his tackle box and fishing rod the man would begin the long journey of hauling back a bucket filled with three Magikarp who seemed to delight in spitting water at his face as he made his way back down the long pier leading into Birch City. By the time he returned to the shop he had taken the job from he was drenched and teeth chattering.

"I caught it," Adian said once inside, placing the bucket down before the shop keeper in delight. "Your golden fish and two extras to keep him company!" While the shop keeper enthused, calling out a few workers from the back who excitedly took out their phones and began snapping pictures he would go behind the till and begin to gather Adian's owed payment.
