Jobs are short-term, one thread tasks that provide Pen and other rewards! Jobs often are silly, or at least interesting, and have chances for random events throughout the thread, providing options for changing things on the fly and giving you fun things to react to.
Jobs are a great way to make money with not a lot of work (though you might end up doing more work than you expect). You also might find yourself making friends with different characters, as many jobs have options to have multiple characters in the thread, and there are many ways to have those characters come together even if they've never met (Eggslist or posted flyers come to mind).
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! We're always happy to help.
RULES
You can only have one active General Job thread, one active Class Job thread, and one active Faction Job thread at a time.
However, if you are doing a job with another player and that player takes over two weeks to reply, you may begin a new job thread in that same category. If they come back before you finish the new one, you may continue to have multiple job threads of that category active, but may not start any new ones until all are complete and/or you've gone another two weeks without replies.
If a player takes over a month to reply, you are allowed to continue a group job thread as a solo and get rewards.
If a thread is inactive for two months, it will be considered abandoned. Rewards for abandoned threads depend on the job.
To take on a job, create your thread with all the required information in the first post. Information includes which job you are undertaking, who is participating, and if applicable which options you are choosing.
In addition to posting your job information, your post should include your characters ICly starting the job and use the [ roll ] function as detailed below.
Jobs cannot be Open threads, all participants must be part of the job and listed in the first post. The semi-exception to this is in one-time-only jobs, such as rank-up jobs. In these, other players may participate for flavor and receive thread length rewards instead of job rewards, so long as they understand that's what they're doing.
You must include your word count in each post in a job thread, because word counts are required for many, if not all, jobs.
When you want to close a thread, simply say so in your OOC notes of your final post.
If you make any Skill rolls in your job posts, the first roll is always for skills and the second roll is always for the job success, to avoid picking and choosing for more favorable results.
Once you have completed a job, you can take on a new job right away. However, you may only do the same options of the same job once a month. (Ex: Washing one Gyarados per month, although you could wash other Pokemon instead.)
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
In addition to any specific instructions listed on the tasks, every job operates in the same format.
First, you and any thread partners must each make one post for the round. At the end of each post, include a die roll with the [ roll ] function. Feel free to use [ proll ] if you want to see what your roll will be in advance.
When everyone participating has posted and rolled, use the Mod Call box at the bottom of the forum to summon a mod, who will reply based on your rolls. Then you and any thread partners each post and roll once again, and repeat the process until the minimum is met, or longer if you want. You are free to keep going passed the minimum, and will receive more rewards for doing so. Remember, the minimum is per person, so if for example a job is 4 posts minimum, and there are two people, you must make a total of 8 posts between the two of you not counting mod posts before completing the thread.
When you are finished with the thread, simply note as much in your OOC notes in your post. Staff will respond after that post to give out rewards and archive the thread.

Pokemon Walking Recurring, Anyone | 1-3 people 4 posts per character minimum Pokemon walking is a profitable and somewhat entertaining job for those who are often wandering the towns or cities. Plenty of urban dwellers have full-time jobs and cannot properly exercise their friends, so they employ Pokemon walkers. Pokemon walkers are dedicated (or not) individuals who exercise Pokemon within the town or city limits.
Of course, because these are Pokemon, you might not strictly be walking them! Taking a Pokemon out to stretch its wings or swim in a pool is also an option. Be sure to read the fine print!
Instructions Your posts are required to be at least 100 words in order to count as a "post" for this job. You must complete at least 4 posts in order to finish this job.
Note: if a Pokemon is listed as having multiple numbers (1-3) that means they are owned by different people and you can take on as many as you want. If a Pokemon is listed as having one number (1, 3) that means they are owned by the same person and must all be taken on at once. The maximum tells you how many different Pokemon you can take on per thread.
You will not receive rewards until you close the thread.

Beaker Washing Recurring, Anyone | 1-4 people 4 posts per character minimum Beaker Washing is where most researchers start. Within the labs of many cities, research often takes its toll on the cleanliness of the labs. While most things are handled by research assistants, beaker washing is outsourced to anyone who knows how to do it. Put on some gloves and protective goggles, grab your scrubby brushes, and get to work! Just be sure you don't drop the beakers and break them, or you might find yourself with weird rashes, contaminated lungs, or a lost job (or even worse). Though what seems worse to you, well, that's up to you. Instructions Your posts are required to be at least 100 words in length to be considered a "post" for this job. You'll need to post at least four times per character to complete this job.
You will not receive rewards until you close the thread.
Location: Birch, Bass, Ivy, Plum, Ash, or Maple
Rewards: +1 Research, +1 Dexterity, 200 Pen, and 3 levels for a Pokemon of your choice. Each interval past the minimum (8, 12, etc) grants an extra 100 Pen and 3 Rare Candies. Each random event gives 25 Pen.
Pokemon Washing Recurring, Anyone | 1-2 people 3 posts per character minimum In the various grooming facilities around Arciel, there's one job that all groomers try to avoid -- washing the dirty Pokemon before the grooming. Why? Because Pokemon come in all shapes and sizes, and most groomers don't have time to scrub down your dirty friend and keep up with all their grooming responsibilities, such as cutting fur, cleaning nails, polishing scales, or dressing the Pokemon. So, instead of hiring more full-time groomers, the various grooming parlours have decided to outsource the work to those willing to brave the bath tubs and grumpy Pokemon at the facilities.
Instructions Your posts are required to be at least 150 words in length to be considered a "post" for this job. You'll need to post at least three times per character to complete this job.
Notes: You may only wash one Pokemon per thread. Difficulty for each Pokemon is noted below.
You will not receive rewards until you close the thread. Current Pokemon: Arcanine (low), Swampert (very low), Delcatty (medium), Gyarados (very hard).
Location: Any town/city
Rewards: 150 Pen for very low difficulty + 25 Pen per increase in difficulty (Gyarados would be 250 Pen) plus 1 level per your post for a Pokemon of your choice (max 5 levels per Pokemon per job). For each double of the minimum, receive an additional 100 Pen and 1 rare candy. Each Random Event adds 25 more pen.
Botanical Gardening Recurring; Anyone | 1-2 people 3 posts per character minimum For those who spend a lot of time in Birch City, Botanical Gardening might be a good job to take on. The Botanical Gardens, arguably the most beautiful part of the city, are always in need of maintenance, and the city council has recently approved for one-time workers to maintain the outer gardens. In this job, you’ll be weeding the gardens, adding fertilizer to the flowers, watering the plants, trimming hedges and trees, or harvesting the fruits. You cannot enter the greenhouses or butterfly house, but you’ll be able to work on the plots all throughout the outdoor garden.
Be careful, though, pluck too many plants instead of weeds, and you might find yourself kicked out poorer than you went in!
Instructions You must write the minimum 4 posts per task for this job. This means that if you choose one task (weed the plants), you’ll only need 4 posts, but if you choose three tasks (weed the plants, trim the hedges, water the plants), you’ll need to make 12 posts. This is per character in the thread. Each person must make the minimum number of posts before the job can be considered “done”. Because of this, thread rewards are done based on number of tasks in addition to number of posts, so as to avoid the “doubling/tripling” issue. Your Farming skill will help you succeed on rolls.
You will not receive rewards until you close the thread. Specifics of the task: Weed the plants, fertilize the plants, water the plants, trim the hedges, trim the trees, harvest the bushes/plants, harvest the trees | (max of 5)
Location: Botanical Gardens in Birch City.
Rewards: 125 Pen, 3 Rare Candies, and +1 Farming skill point per task completed. For every two tasks you complete, you’ll receive a Pokeball. For three tasks, you’ll receive a Super Potion. For five tasks (the maximum) you’ll receive an Infinite Gachapon Voucher, which will allow you to use the Infinite Mystery Gacha machine once for free. If you double the number of required posts, you’ll receive double the rewards, excluding double skill points, as well as one random rare item.
Runway Modelling Recurring; Anyone | 1-3 people 5 posts per character minimum Fancy yourself a model? Well, Arciel is in dire need of them. With so many new clothing lines for tourists and participants in the scavenger hunt, Arciel is short on models to show them off. Take on a job as a runway model in an amateur show to strut your stuff and maybe get some free swag!
Head to the fashion show, get stuffed into some clothes, get your hair and make-up done, and try not to fall when you walk the runway. It’s all about poise, confidence, and style! Instructions Each character present in the thread must post at least five (5) times to meet the minimum requirements for the job. Each task has a different concept, so be sure to choose based on the concept you want to role play. You are free to start your role play in the fitting room, about to go out on the runway, etc. Random events will be changed to suit the location. You must go out on the runway before you can close the thread, regardless of the number of posts. Your Charisma skill will help you succeed on rolls.

Mail Delivery Recurring; Anyone | 1-2 people 4 posts per character minimum With so many people moving to Arciel lately, and so many hopeful young trainers constantly moving around, keeping up with the mail has become a nightmare! Luckily, many of those same hopeful young trainers are in need of a quick buck. Help the local post office by delivering a batch of mail to some of the more temporary residents in town. Just remember, tampering with other people's mail is a crime!

Garbage Pick-Up Recurring; Anyone | 1-4 people 3 posts per character minimum As a region filled with tourism, Arciel is, unfortunately, home to its fair share of garbage. It seems people will throw out anything these days, from standard bags of garbage to whole pieces of worn furniture. As few people like such work, the garbage folks are constantly understaffed, and would gladly pay anyone for helping out for a day. A garbage person will drive the truck for you. You just need to do the heavy lifting to get the garbage into it.
Instructions Posts must be a minimum of 150 words to count as a post. Each player must post a minimum of three (3) times. Your Strength skill will help you succeed at rolls.

A Rare Catch Recurring; Anyone | 1-3 people 5 posts per character minimum The locals tell tales of its beauty and grace: the legendary Golden Magikarp of Birch Bay. Supposedly, it is massive-- much larger than even a Huge Magikarp-- and treated as a god among other Magikarp. If you could fish it up, surely someone would pay top dollar to take its picture before you release it back into the bay. If not, well, someone would probably pay for whatever you do catch.
Instructions Posts must be a minimum of 100 words to count as a post. You must post at least five (5) times. You must successfully pass at least one roll to earn rewards. Your Fishing Skill can help you succeed on rolls.
