Jace picked at what bit of food Nik hadn't snarfed down or slobbered on. He sighed and looked off the side of the deck. There a cloyster suddenly popped up out of the water and fired off a water gun, spraying the teen right in the face. Jace gasped and sputtered as he was once again covered in water.
"Geeze what the hell!? Seriously I think I've gotten more wet being on this boat than if I'd just swum across the channel."
He groaned and pulled off his hoodie. It was completely soaked through and at this point Jace thought it'd likely be better to go unclothed if it was an option. He grumbled and turned to the others who blinked at his little outburst. The blond teen stuck his tongue out at his pokemon. They were pretty much done eating so he went ahead and recalled them all, save for Zag, not quite in the mood for their judgement.
The orange linoone looked up at Jace with some concern but the teen just ignored him. He got up to head back to the locker area, again, to once more find some towels to dry off with. Zag scampered after keeping a look out for anything of interest and twitching an ear at the odd wriggling going on with Jace's pack.

Zag spotted an odd looking fruit hidden under a bench. The sneaky linoone promptly snapped it up and scurried after Jace. The teen had arrived back in the locker room and had begun drying himself off. Zag found the male's pack and started to stuff the stardrop inside. However something blue popped its head out of the bag causing the little weasle like pokemon to jerk back and give a startled cry.
Jace jerked his head up and stared at the bag. Really the teen had mostly forgotten the egg they'd just picked up. He draped the towel around his neck and approached his pack cautiously. Slowly he opened it and peered inside only to have a round, blue face pop up out of the bag.
"Oh! It's a..."
He blinked as he tried to recall what the little blue ray was. Zag grinned happily at the new arrival and watched Jace carefully lift her out of the bag. The mantyke chirruped and wriggled in Jace's grasp. He figured she'd probably like to be in the water, most blue pokemon were water types right?
"Ah right! Mantyke! I guess we'll call you Tyke then, for now."
The teen proposed though the little mantyke didn't seem to care either way. She flapped her little wing like flippers and continued to try and wriggle out of his grasp. Jace sighed, just what he needed another wriggler. Quickly he grabbed a pokeball and called the newborn into it. At least she was secure now. Zag whined sad to see his new friend go. Jace patted the linoone on the head as he got up to put his shirt back on and finish drying his hair.

The docking whistle blew and Jace realized just how close they were to port. He gave a small sign of relief, it was about time. He was more than ready to get off this boat. The teen finished up and gathered his stuff to begin making his way to the loading deck.
Several other persons were also preparing to disembark thus Jace found himself thrust to the railing along the deck. Below he noticed a carvanha circling around in the water. He paused and watched the dark fish for a moment considering, the dark fish could be useful.
The carvanha however was quite a bit stronger than most his team. Tic would be the obvious choice for a battle though he was rather worn out, not to mention the carvanha looked a mite bit stronger than the joltik. The teen glanced at Zag then frowned thoughtfully. His first instinct was to pit an electric type against a water type. However, carvanha was also part dark type.
Jace pulled out his phone and checked the pokedex app. That's right, dark types didn't like fairy or bug type attacks either and as a linoone, Zag had learned the fairy type attack Play Rough and the bug type attack Pin Missile.
"Okay well let's give this a go then."
They had time, the ferry would be awhile in preparing to dock and then there was a huge crowd of people disembarking. So they might as well have a battle while waiting for the time to pass. The teen called out Tic to join Zag, the oversized joltik could at least get in some experience, and passed him a pinap berry.
"Tic, help Zag out and use Thunder Wave. Zag Hone Claws."
The carvanha noted their presence and snapped his jaws aggressively. Zag beefed himself up by sharpening his claws against one another while Tic released a wave of electrical energy toward the carvanha. The fish was able to avoid the strange wave of energy and shot back with a scary face, though the joltik was able to avoid meeting the fish's gaze. The dark fish then shot forward in a tornado of water that bashed against Zag. Jace winced but Zag shook off the attack and hissed down at the carvanha.
"Okay Zag jump in and play rough. Tic try thunder wave once more."
The teen called as Zag jumped down into the dark water and went to town on the fish. From above Tic released another wave of the electrical energy this time managing to paralyze the dark fish. Zag pulled away, a bit scratched up from the carvanha's rough skin but got out of the way of the paralytic wave just in time. The carvanha struggled against the paralysis and managed to leap up and smack Tic causing a good amount of damage with assurance against the electric bug.
Weakened and paralyzed, Jace tossed out a razz berry to the fish then followed up with a Nest Ball. He was hoping that would be enough to reign this fish in but Zag was ready just in case the carvanha needed more, persuasion.

And success, the carvanha was captured and Jace had added a new member to the team. He watched the ball vanish teleporting or whatever it did to the digital ether that was the PC. Jace called back Tic as well to let the electric bug rest. Zag shook himself out flinging water all over the deck and some on Jace who at this point had given up on the thought of ever being dry again.
"Good job there Zag. Guess we should get ready for departure."
Jace let the soggy linoone scramble up onto his shoulders, though he noticed the orange critter had something red in his paws. The teen frowned and took the red apricorn from Zag who looked quite pleased with himself. Jace chuckled as he tucked it away with his other items. He started back toward the crowd that had started gathering at the unloading deck. The ferry was just now beginning to dock so it wouldn't be much longer before they'd be in Bass City. Hopefully his father hadn't called ahead to the police force to try and detain him.
Everyone was gathering up at the unloading dock to depart as the ferry docked. It was a mass jumble of pokemon and people all eager to get off this wretched boat. Night had fallen some time ago and all Jace could think of was sleep. He of course didn't have much cash on hand and was unsure what sort of accomidations he could afford. Now of course most pokemon centers had rooms for trainers though Jace couldn't be sure whether the local police were looking for him. So staying somewhere mainstream could potentially get him caught.
Ahead of him he noticed a young beachgoer giggling with her friends. Jace's finger twitched as he noticed her carrying a large beach tote with easy access. The youth hadn't felt quite the urge to nick something for the majority of the trip but now however the urge was strong and he bit his lip in an effort to resist. He really didn't need to be bringing any attention to himself but it would be just so easy to reach in and slip something from that tote. The girl would likely never even notice.
Unable to resist the urge any longer, Jace crept up behind her and double checked no eyes were on him then slyly slipped his hand into the bag and just grabbed for whatever he could.

Jace jerked his hand back pulling out a random pokeball. He blinked then almost panicked as he hadn't really intended to take an actual pokemon occupied pokeball. However the ship had docked and the beachgoer shuffled off into the crowd that was disembarking. He and Zag got caught up in the shuffle and were hustled out onto the dock.
The beachgoer was long gone at this point and Jace found he was still clutching the ball. He shook his head, feeling rather guilty about swiping someone's pokemon again. Yet the compulsion was so overwhelming he knew he'd never been able to stop himself. While he'd hoped to just grab some pen or something, the itch was gone and he felt better.
The youth sighed as he tucked the ball in his pocket and turned to look toward Bass City. Well at least he was finally off that boat and away from Plum. Things could only get better from here right?
