If he were a cynical sort of person he might just think that the universe had it out for him today. The idea of finding the nearest bar and having a drink after this day was over was starting to look more tempting by the minute, and he drew in a deep breath before he even turned the corner to the room he was directed into. He could hear the many clatters of many things hitting the ground, and he braced himself for the worst scenario possible before he entered the room and found... a very big Gyarados thrashing around and knocking everything it could onto the floor.

Okay, first things first - he should probably calm it down. But this thing was several times bigger than he was, and he wasn't entirely sure where to start. Subduing the beast would be in his best interests to avoid any further damage to either the environment or to himself, and like before with the Meowth he did his best to speak in as friendly a tone as he could. He didn't enter the room, both to avoid spooking it and because with the way his luck was going, he was pretty sure he'd be injured straightaway, and he spoke softly, reassuringly, both hands held up in what he hoped was a placating gesture.

"Easy there, big guy..."

Your placating gestures seem to soothe the Gyarados. His trainer assures you he's not normally like this, just in pain and fidgety from the paralysis. Seems things are going better than your last patient!

The fact that the Gyarados hasn’t bitten him yet is already a vast improvement from his last encounter, and Touma can practically feel the relief wash over him as he breathes out a calming breath. It’s not the biggest Pokémon out there, but it is the biggest one he’s seen so far and because of that he’s still a little wary. But it’s not enough to make him shirk the duty he’s been given and he sets to work searching among the items that have been knocked onto the ground in search of what’s needed for the situation.

By the time he’s retrieved a Paralyze Heal from the mess on the ground, Espurr has made its way to the room and stands over him with that same unnervingly blank expression. Vaguely Touma found himself wondering if the Espurr following him meant it was starting to get attached? Or maybe open up to him? It’s incredibly hard to tell. But considering it hasn’t attacked him yet, that was probably a good thing, even more when he saw it was still clutching the egg securely.

He uses his teeth and his good hand to pull the cap off and, slowly, carefully, moves towards the Gyarados so he can start spraying.

"I’ll try and make this as quick as possible, okay?"

The Gyarados yelped at the spray of the paralyze heal but was still too paralyzed to thrash about. He just started weeping instead, and his trainer kept patting him soothingly. You wouldn't feel a physical pain, then, just an emotional one because this was apparently a big baby.

The fact the Gyarados was too paralyzed to thrash about any further was a small mercy, one which was quickly obliterated as soon as Touma heard the weeping coming from the giant pokemon. It tugged at his heartstrings and was almost enough to make him stop treatment; he did waver a little, wondering if what he was doing was actually hurting him, and his brows furrowed in sympathy.

In the end he made the decision to continue, making sure he got along the length of its body in order to thoroughly cover all areas. He had to sidestep Espurr with the egg a few times, and once he was done and had stepped away noticed that the pokemon somehow had relocated to the doorway. He didn't much blame it; with his luck he was half-expecting the Gyarados to spasm and fling him into the nearest wall.

He allowed a gloved hand to rest on one of its scales and stroked in what he hoped was a soothing manner, trying to reassure the pokemon that things would be all right.

Gyarados puts up with everything well aside from crying! He didn't thrash or retaliate, just sort of shivered and cried occasionally. Once treatment was over, he seemed to relax and snuggle his trainer happily. She thanks you very much for your time.

Never in his life did he think he'd see a snuggling Gyarados, of all pokemon, but what he was witnessing now could only be described as such. The sight brought a smile to his face and he inclined his head politely, relief that he could actually help the poor creature washing over him in waves.

Touma waited until trainer and pokemon were on their way before slumping slightly. The day had taken a massive toll on him and he'd half-expected that to go worse than it had. He was grateful it hadn't and that things seemed to turn out all right, but he still had a mess to clean up and he went about doing it without further thought. Espurr stood near the doorway watching him, seemingly zoning in and out whenever he shifted his hands to pick things up and sort them back into some semblance of order after all the chaos Gyarados had caused. Hopefully the day would be over soon.

As you clean up, a few more things fall down. It seems you may need to adjust one of the shelves that had come loose on the wall.

It was after the third or fourth item slid off onto his head that he got a good look at the shelf and noticed that it had come slightly loose. Unsurprising, considering the abuse it had suffered just a few moments earlier. Touma waded through the bottles scattered on the floor to inspect it closer and twisted the screws a bit keeping it in place. He didn't actually have anything and, after a quick look around the room, didn't see any tools in sight that he could use to fix it. Hm.

For now, he collected the objects that he could into a neat little pile just to get them out of the way and not underfoot, and sorted them into what he thought was an orderly fashion. Once that was done he poked his head out in the hallway and signalled a passing orderly for help finding a toolbox or something he could use to fix things, and a few moments later he was craning his head under the loose shelf to get a better look as he secured it into the wall. Espurr had made itself comfy just under his elbow and was watching his work quietly, the egg still clutched firmly in its paws.

Because his hand was still throbbing and bandaged it took a little awkward, painful fumbling to get at the right angle, and it took him a rather long time to get it fully secured to his liking. But in the end he managed to step away, satisfied with his work, and began to transfer the items he'd sorted onto it one at a time.
