Personal Trainer Job Pichu (agility), Railu (agility) Blazikin (agility)
"Alright mates, you all know why you're here today," Marley said, looking over the three pokemon standing before him. Quite a varied bunch if he had to say. "Your trainers 'ave asked me to work on your speed. Get you guys really movin' along." The first of the group was a Pichu, and the next one, only a little bit taller, was a Railu. It was the last member of this trio that really stood out. A Blazikin. Weren't they normally fast on their feet. It seemed a little bit much to pit the two little ones against a pokemon much bigger and stronger than them, but hey, money was money. He'd get all three of them zooming around in no time.
"Now, to help us out, I've enlisted the help of my dear friend here," He said, flicking a pokeball to released his Doduo, Janus. "Janus, meet your students." The two headed bird gave a small squark in greeting. Marley glanced around, spotting a tree nearby. "Ok mates, let's get a good gauge on how you are for starters. See that tree over there? I want each of you to run there and back as fast as you can. I'll time ya. You may start runnin' when ready!"
The Pichu and Riolu immediately prepare to run and then take off in a sprint when called to. The Blaziken, however, folds his arms and huffs. He's too god to be training alongside these babies. You can't convince him otherwise.
Well,l at least the Pichu and the Riolu seemed eager enough, taking off running towards the tree to get their lap in. But Marley immediately noticed that something was wrong. The Blazikin wasn't budging, and judging from his expression, Marley could get an idea as to why. This was going to be trouble. He was one of those prideful types that thought they were better than everyone else. And if Marley couldn't get the Blazikin running, he wasn't going to get paid. "Think ya too good for this?" Marley said, crossing his arms and looking at the Blazikin. "Well, hate to burst ya bubble, but ya trainer doesn't agree. Otherwise, ya wouldn't be 'ere, trainin' with us." When it came to prideful sorts like this, your best bet was to smack them right in the pride. That should get them moving.
But, he wasn't done quite yet. One little shot wasn't going to be enough. "The wee ones at least 'ave some drive to them. Before long they'll be outrunnin' you." he gave the Blazikin a small smirk. "Who knows, maybe even I can outrun ya, want to find out?" For all he knew, he probably could. But let's see if he rose to the bait.
The taunt works, and the Blaziken huffs in response! Making a gesture to a tree and then back again, he waited for Marley to take off running and then burst passed him in a show of speed like the huffy Pokemon he was.
Well, that had worked better than Marley had hoped. Indeed, he didn't expect to outrun the Blazikin, a pokemon like that was naturally faster than him. Still, it was a rather good workout for Marley, and it got the big pokemon moving. By the time Marley returned to the starting point, all three pokemon had finished their run. He mentally kicked himself for not timing the other two pokemon. He had been so distracted by the Blazikin. Well, he wasn't going to make them run again. He was lucky enough to get the Blazikin moving. He didn't want to push his luck.
"Alright then. Nice little practice run there," Marley said, as Janus stood beside him, "Now then, let's start by getting your stamina up, shall we? The more energy you can burn, the faster you can go in the long run. So, we're going to start with a long distance run. See how far you can go before you tire. Janus and meself will be runnin' alongside ya. That all sound good?" The Doduo gave a small squark in response. Sure, these pokemon could outrun Marley fairly easily, but Janus was a whole different story. Could the Blazikin keep up with the speedy Doduo?
Marley smirked. Perfect! They were all willing to go along with it. Guess that Blaziken just needed a brief wake up. He looked around, before noticing a path leading in through the trees. "Alrighty, here's how it'll go. We'll all take a nice, long run down that path. Remember, this is to see how long you guys can go, so be sure to pace yerselves. Me and Janus will be runnin' along with ya. If any of ya can't go on, just give a shout and Janus will pick ya up. Don't push yerselves too far. This is just an innitial test after all."
He moved to get the pokemon to line up, a starting point for all of them. Marley would run along with them. After all, he needed to get his own speed up as well. "Ok, on the count of three, we start runnin'. You ready? One. Two. THREE!" Marley kicked off the ground and started running, quickly slowing himself down to a steady jog. He glanced to the side, watching the others as well. Janus was keeping pace, making sure to keep an eye out in case one of the three started to lag behind. It wouldn't do if he left any of them behind.
Finally, you get the whole team off and running! Pichu and Riolu seem to be enjoying themselves, though Blaziken is making a big show of how effortless Janus's current pace is for him.
Marley ran alongside them, making sure to keep an eye out on the three pokemon he was training. Well, at least the little ones were having fun, and even Blaziken was having some fun trying to compete with Janus. Oh, would it be in for a surprise if Janus ever decided to take off into a full run. But, it had been hard enough getting him to run in the first place, he didn't want to risk turning the pokemon off of any further training. Best to keep up the run for as long as they can.
Marley was doing a decent job keeping up with them. Well, with the little ones, it made sense. Marley had a much longer stride compared to them. They continued up the path, the lanky Galarian keeping an eye out for anything that might cause them trouble. After all, this was simply a training session. They weren't here to fight anything. He looked over at Janus, who was keeping pace with the Blaziken. "Ya holdin' up buddy?" The Doduo gave a small squark of affirmation, though one of his heads was giving him a look like "Of course I am. I was built for running!"
Marley glanced back, noticing that the little ones were starting to slow down. Looks like they were getting tired. Still, they lasted for a bit. That was certainly a good starting point for them. "Janus, care to pick 'em up?" Janus gave a small squark as he slowed down, Marley moving alongside the Doduo as they waited for the little pokemon to catch up. "Alright little guys, up ya go." He crouched down, picking them up as Janus lowered himself down, allowing the smaller pokemon to climb up onto his back. They'll be riding out the rest of the run until the Blaziken grew tired as well.
Speaking of which, the Blaziken was still going relatively strong, and was keeping up the best pace out of the three pokemon. Now that the little ones were out of the running, Marley and Janus didn't need to hold back quite as much as they had been before. He looked over at his partner and smirked. "Ready to run Janus?" The Doduo squarked in affirmation. "Alright. Hang on tight kiddies." Marley kicked off the ground and started running, the Doduo running much faster than before. Let's see how the Blaziken handles Janus when he's not holding back.
Blaziken is actually enjoying himself now and keeps running- occasionally showing off with leaps and cartwheels and poses. The smaller Pokemon seem enthralled by such freeform acts!
Marley couldn't help but chuckle at the Blazikin's newfound enthusiasm. Well, at least he didn't need to worry about getting him running again. And the little ones were enjoying themselves well enough. "Don't spend too much time showin' off." Marley laughed, "After all, this is supposed to show how much stamina ya got." Granted, Marley wasn't the most dexterous individual himself. Perhaps he should work on that when he had time. After all, Marley was all about keeping himself physically fit. Flexibility would certainly fall into that category. But, right now, it was time to keep running. To push himself to how far he can go.
They would continue running for some time now. Janus was still going strong, but the run was starting to take its toll on Marley'sa muscles. After all, he was only human, and he could only keep going for so long. But, seeing the pokemon still going strong, it was only motivating the Galarian to push himself even further. But, eventually, he would have to relent.
"Hold up Janus," Marley called, the Dodou slowing down for Marley to catch up. Marley hauled himself onto Janus' back, making sure there was plenty of room for the little ones. Janus let out a squark and continued after Blazikin.
Well, that was certainly a good run, and the Blazikin had lasted quite a while. Even Janus, with the weight of three individuals on his back, was starting to tire a little. Janus settled down by a set of rocks, allowing the little pokemon and Marley to climb down from him. Marley moved to take a seat on a nearby rock, looking over the three pokemon. All three of them had proven themselves quite well. Marley took a look skyward, taking note of the time of day. The sun was starting to come down, and no doubt the trainers of these pokemon would want their pokemon back shortly.
"Ok mates, you guys did great today. Now, we should start headin' back. Your trainers no doubt want ya back. So, we're going to race down there as fast as we can. If any of you drag behind, Janus 'ere will give you a lift, got it?" Janus gave a squark of support. "Now then, this is to see how you guys improved on your little marathon run. Winning don't matter here. Just throw all your heart into it."
He stretched his legs, getting ready to run. "On yer marks, get set, GO!"
You haven't been running long when you hear a loud thump.
Blaziken seems to have tripped! Looks like all that running wore him out and he's now nursing a sprained ankle, though he's trying to stubbornly power through it. In the meantime, the little ones have regained their stamina, and they're leaving the big bird behind.
Marley, having been behind the Blazikin when he fell, ran to catch up to the bird, who was trying to grit his teeth and bare the pain. He had to admit, the bird certainly had a strong will to him. But he could see he was injured and it was hampering him. Marley moved over to the bird's side. "Take it easy mate. No sense in hurtin' yourself any further. If this was a battle, that'd be one thing. But no sense messin' up yer ankle durin' trainin'. Here." He reached into his pocket and pulled out one of the potions he had. It didn't look like a major injury, so this should at least tied him over.
"That should at least keep ya goin' until you get to a pokemon center. Ya did good today. No need to feel bad about the ankle." Marley kept by the Blazikin's side as the pair of them finished the run, with the little ones and Janus waiting for them. With that done, it was time for them to wrap up training for today. Marley felt they had made a good start today. He knew he already felt faster than before. Perhaps the pokemon felt the same way.
