By the time Faolan had made her way to the rustic expanse of land she had been directed to by the signs in the city, the sun had risen high in the sky and, judging from her watch, she was roughly five minutes early to the agreed-upon time she'd been given per her acceptance letter. Which was good, as she expected it to take about that long to make her way up to the lab door through the rolling fields dotted with pokemon and assistants alike.

Getting to Arciel had been easy enough, and she was glad that for once she didn't have to put much effort into persuading others to give her a ride. With the encouraging adverts for tourism, the boats running to and from the region were on an almost nonstop schedule, and it had simply been a matter of catching the ferry at the right time in order to make her appointment with the professor. After the boat had docked, she had made her way first to the pokemon center to drop off her bag filled with what clothes she'd managed to grab, then wandered through the city until she'd come across directions pointing her to the lab.

She stood at the door now, taking in deep breaths to curb her excitement and get her composure to the level of calmness she wanted. After a few moments, she checked her watch again and let herself in just as the clock struck the hour of her appointment. Her eyes immediately fell upon the blonde woman located inside, and after shutting the door she made her way over, heels clicking on the tile underneath. "Professor Holly, I presume?" She inquired in a voice accented in the distinct Galarian dialect. A hand extended in greeting. "Faolan Byrne. I'm here for my appointment."

Holly checked her watch and then her paperwork. There were several appointments back to back today, so she had decided to make it easier on everyone by sitting up at the front for now. Her assistants had already set up all of what was needed and necessary, so it was just a matter of running the otherwise well-oiled machine.

As the door to the lab opened, she looked up from her paperwork. “Ah, right on time,” she noticed the precision of punctuality. “I have your potential partner Pokemon here.” she reached for a Pokeball case on the desk and opened it as she stood. Three Pokeballs were pulled out and immediately tossed forward to reveal their contents. “I am sure you will find one of them suitable.”

Professor Holly opens the Pokeballs...

The blonde surveyed the trio before her with some curiosity. Two fire types and an electric? It seemed as though fate wanted her to at least consider the two starters, but what she knew from her research of the gym leader challenge, her first opponent would be a water-type user. Fire wouldn't do so well there. It was still a little ways away but it was best to prepare early, wasn't it?

On the other hand... wouldn't it speak volumes of her battle skill if she were able to somehow defeat a water-type leader with a fire-type? The challenge was something to consider, and ultimately it was enough to sway her towards the Charmander. While the other two seemed to affect an air of mild disinterest, the Charmander didn't meet her eyes and actually shied away a bit at the touch of her hand upon its head.

It didn't deter her in the slightest, and after a bit the creature closed its eyes with a soft "charrr" and leaned into the touch. Faolan gave it one of her rare smiles, reassuring it, and turned her gaze to the professor. "I've made my decision. Charmander will be my partner."

Holly smiled very briefly before growing serious again. “Good, you should consider giving her a name,” she paused and picked up a small box that had also been on her desk. Inside were a few Pokeballs and potions, standard equipment for a journey like this. “I have prepared some items to help you on your journey. Use them wisely.” Another pause to let that sink in. “Do you have any questions for me or would you like to start your journey?”

Once she was handed the box filled with pokeballs and potions, along with the Charmander's own pokeball, Faolan turned to her newly-acquired partner with a thoughtful look on her face. The Charmander peered up shyly as the blonde considered the different names she could call it, and eventually she shook her head at the professor's question. "No, we'll be just fine." She hadn't been on a pokemon journey herself, but she liked to think she knew the basics of it. At least, she had done plenty of research to have a general idea as to how these things went.

With that she turned, and after a moment's thought called out, "Come along, Fembra." The Charmander perked at her new name, tail burning just a bit brighter, and then scampered after her trainer out the door to start their journey.
