No Pressure, No Diamond

While she had not quite made it to Bass yet, despite her original desire to do so, she decided maybe it was time for a visit home again. She had gotten several new pokemon, and had participated in a contest, and she wanted to tell her parents all about it, and maybe take a bit of a holiday. However this time instead of traveling with someone else, she would make the trek herself. So she had geared up with all her items, her current pokemon all in their pokeballs, and her first egg, a Petilil egg she was excited to hatch, and set off on her way. 

Traversing Route 7 alone and on foot was much much different than what she had done before. Soon she got bored, so she called out Staccato. He should be evolving any day now, he was the level to do so, but he seemed... reluctant. Not quite afraid, but like he hadn't earned it somehow. So she had decided to give him a little extra love and attention. 

"How's about we play some music?" She asked the  Kricketot, who was hanging on her shoulder. That seemed to perk him up quite a bit, and he trilled happily. So she pulled her banjo around (careful not to jostle the egg in her pack or her pokeballs), and started strumming lightly as she strolled along. Staccato quickly picked up the tune and started singing along.

As she played and hummed, and Staccato sang with her, she realized that there was an... echo? Well not an echo since it was clearly different, but it reminded her of the accompaniment she used to get from other musicians. It made her falter for a second as she tried to listen to where it might be coming from. But she started back up again quickly in case whoever was singing stopped.

"Well Staccato? What do you think, should we go see who wants to sing along with us?" She had no idea what it might be, pokemon or person, but she hoped pokemon.

Staccato chirped hesitantly at first, but eventually seemed to agree. He did however duck under her hair and his song was a bit shakier when he started up again.

But Sage was infinitely curious, so she continued to play, listening for the source of the music and heading in its direction.
