Willow took in a deep breath as she looked down the path before her. It was a road that was walked by many trainers like her, and she was going to be the next one to cross it. She had gone through a lot with her last journey. She had found friends and battled pokemon. She had even helped 2 pokemon get back to their parents.
She had always loved the connection between parents and their children. It was something special to her. Her ideals on family were strong, and while she knew that other people didn't have amazing family lives, she believed that they should. People all need a family, whether it be a family of friendships, love, or pokemon partnership. She hoped that she would be able to let her pokemon experience that on the journey. She didn't just want them to train in the wild, but rather bond with each other.
So, as she looked down the path, she sent out one of her newer pokemon, as well as one of her older ones. Lucas and Beryl. Both these pokemon haven't met each other as of yet, but that's okay. She hoped that the two of them would be able to bond and connect in a way that most couldn't do in regular environments. The two of them will see each other's strengths and weaknesses through both battle and personality. She hoped that these two would have one of the strongest bonds in her team by the end of it all. Of course, once she felt like their work together was adequate, she'll try and work on a different pairing.

With Willow walking down the road with both Beryl and Lucas, she was beginning to have some fun with the two of them. Of course, the journey was mostly for them to bond, but Willow thought it'd be fun for them to play a game where they split up. The first pokemon to bring back a pokemon to fight would get to fight the pokemon they got, and show off their moves. However, the rule was, was that they couldn't provoke a pokemon in any way shape or form.
So, as she set the pokemon off on their rendevouz, one of them came back in almost an instant. It seemed to be Beryl, and she was bringing with her a clamperl. The pokemon seemed to be extremely tense about the whole situation, wanting to drive the pokemon out of its territory. So, with Willow calling Lucas back, she knelt down to him and said, "Hey, I know that you weren't able to show off your skills first, but since I've never been able to battle with you, I think it'd be best for you to watch and see Beryl's tactics in battle. Is that okay with you?" The pokemon then nodded at the proposal, realizing that it was for the best. Though, it was a bit sad that it wouldn't get to battle just yet.

While Beryl and the Clamperl locked eyes at each other, Willow got ready to guide Beryl to victory. It seemed like Lucas was doing his best to help Beryl as well, cheering her own towards victory. With the pokemon now motivated, it looked over to see its friends, cheering it along the way. When Willow had found Beryl, she was holed up in a tiny corner of the abandoned shack that Willow had bought. It was crying at the time, because it was left behind. It's tiny size caused it to be cast out by its family, and left to defend itself. However, Willow was the light that brought the pokemon back from darkness. So, she was going to do her best to make Willow proud, to show her how resilient she truly was.
With this in mind, Willow commanded the pokemon to use confusion upon the Clamperl. With this, the pokemon let out a psychic wave in the form of a heart towards the clamperl. Since the pokemon lacked mobility, it decided to just take the hit. Though, it didn't seem to work out too well for the pokemon, because it was now set into a confused state. It had suddenly began to open and close its shell, using clamp on nothing. However, it was beginning to get closer and closer to Beryl with each clamp. So, Willow yelled out to Beryl to use gust to blow the pokemon back. Just like that, the pokemon was then knocked all the way back into a tree. Watching as the smoke cleared, Beryl heard cheers from her friends as they congratulated her on defeating the Clamperl.

After finishing up Beryl’s battle, Willow looked to see that Lucas had found something on his journey. Although it wasn’t a Pokémon, it was just as good. As the Pokémon looked up at her, it showed a berry that was hiding underneath it’s wing for the whole battle. It seemed to be a sitrus berry. These berries had an acidic nature that allowed for people and Pokémon to feel revitalized.
Being the farmer that Willow was meant that she needed to find berries in both the wilderness and the market. In each of these berries were seeds that could be used to plant berry bushes in a garden. So, for Lucas to find one out in the wilderness was amazing, especially due to their healing abilities. So, Willow reaches out her arms towards Lucas for a huge hug as she said to him, “Thank you! thank you! Thank you! You truly are amazing Lucas.” Now that Beryl’s congratulations died down, it transferred over to Lucas as both Beryl and Willow congratulated him. With happiness all around them, a Pokémon or trainer was bound to find them.
After all the cheering that had happened between Willow and her pokemon, they received the attention of an adorable little Turtwig. Though, the pokemon didn't seem to be adorable at the beginning. It seemed to be like one of the agressive pokemon that Willow always encountered on her routes to different places. However, her and her pokemon's thoughts were wrong. The pokemon wasn't as mean as the group thought she was. Rather, it's own naivety was its downfall.
As the pokemon came out of the bushes to see what the commotion was, it saw that there was a human, as well as two other pokemon cheering and clapping together. The pokemon wanted to rush in and join in on the fun. It ran straight towards Willow, hoping that this would be the friend it had been looking for, for all of its life. However, the pokemon looked as though it was trying to attack the group with a tackle. So, as Willow looked down the Lucas, she said to it, "This is your time now to fight! Show me and Beryl what you've got!"
Trying to do his best to please his friends, the Ducklett went straight into action, using wing attack towards the Turtwing. While watching the pokemon use a move, the Turtwig thought to do the same as well. She wondered if this was some sort of forum game, "Battling for enjoyment." Either way though, she'd do her best to make a good impression on them. So, as the razor leaf and wing attack collided, Lucas seemed to be taken aback a bit. The pokemon was stronger than either him or Willow would've thought. After all, his wing attack should've easily sliced through those leaves. This meant that a new tactic would have to be made.
As Lucas looked over to Willow, the southern gal would take the reins of the situation. Looking at the field, Willow tried to see how she could use the terrain to her advantage. The area was a grassland, which meant that there were tiny patches of brush around. While examining them, the idea had come into her mind. So, with this, she said aloud to Lucas, "Lucas, it's time to take back control of this battle! Give me your loudest yell, as you fly towards the area of brush near the Turtwig!"
It was a weird tactic for Willow to ask that of Lucas, especially since it defeated the purpose of the brushes, but she had faith that he'd be able to yell and then hide. After all, the whole point was to rile Lucas up, so that he could understand that every battle is a new adventure. A fun one at that. So, as he did this, Willow cheered for him, saying aloud to the pokemon, "Now Ducklett, use water gun and shoot it right at that Turtwig. As you do this, use wing attack and attack him while he's distracted!"
Listening to his trainer, the pokemon flew straight into action as he used water gun towards the Turtwig, while flying at it with Wing Attack. Willow knew that the pokemon wouldn't be effected too much by the water gun. As of now, it was more so used as a diversion for Ducklett to do the thing that would actually hurt the pokemon. Just like that, the Turtwig was knocked towards the ground, as it made a skid mark in its path. However, the pokemon seemed to get up. The weird thing about it though, was that it was smiling.
As Turtwig gut up from its spot, it ran over towards Willow, but with a pep in its step this time. It was at that moment, Willow knew that the pokemon wasn't the agressor she thought it was. It seemed to be more of a simple farm animal. Those that didn't know much about what they were doing. Instead, they just went with it. The pokemon seemed to think that the fighting was all a game, and that is what made Willow smile the most. The fact that the pokemon could smile, even through its pain made Willow love it dearly. Besides, Willow needed more grass type pokemon in order for her to fertilize the plants.
Looking over the pokemon, she smiled down at him, saying, "Hey bud, I know that seemed like a lot of fun, and I hope that it was. So, I was wondering if you'd like to join me on an adventure through the world. Getting new experiences, but also helping me out on my farm in Cherry town. It's a lovely little place, and I have huge dreams for it. If you join us, I'd like to think that you'd help be apart of those dreams. After all, having someone like you, who can smile through all of that, is nothing to scoff at. It's something I value the most in this world. Smiling even when the world feels like it's about to burn down. So, what do you say?" With this, Willow tapped the pokemon in the head, hoping that it would stick with her.
As the pokemon was completely captured within its ball, Willow yelled out into the air, congratulating herself for the new pokemon. It sure was a strong one. The pokemon was tough, and that was something she loved about her. Though, she knew that she wouldn't be able to train the pokemon for right now. She had too many others that she had to get to before she could actually do something with the pokemon. So, she just slipped it away, and went back to the two pokemon that were at her feet. They seemed to be pumped up and ready for another battle. However, Willow decided to save their training for another day. A day where she could devote their partnership to pure training.
She sent the pokemon back, sending out her Buneary and Morelull. Two pokemon that could very much be great together if they tried to be. With this in mind, Willow bent down to talk to the pokemon, saying to them, the same spheal she said to Lucas and Beryl. This go around though, Willow decided to play a different game with the two of them. This one would be a test of team work. If the both of them could find a battle together, then they would be able to get a reward once the pokemon was defeated.
With this in mind, the pokemon ran off together. With both of their attitudes, they weren't too exuberant over their happiness, but Willow could tell that it was there. Especially after they giggled to each other about what the gift could be.
