Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
Cailean Cinaed & Gilbert Moss are seated at the table.
Three optional icebreaker questions are offered: 1. If you could be granted three wishes, what would they be? 2. What is the cheesiest pickup line you have heard? 3. If your friends compared you to a Pokemon, which Pokemon would it be?
Feel free to discuss any of these or use your own icebreaker!
[attr="class","momoPBody"] How had he gotten convinced to come out to this? 'You're a public figure, Cal,' they said. 'It'll be good for you to make an appearance,' they said. 'You need to meet more people anyway,' they said.
Cailean groaned under his breath as he shuffled toward his assigned seat. Ugh... It was so cold outside, but plenty warm here in the lobby. That made his sweater too hot, and he was going to be all gross and sweaty before long... Ugh. Maybe he'd get lucky and his date just wouldn't show up?
He took a moment to look over the icebreakers provided. He didn't... know if he had answers for any of these...
Oh no... A guy was heading this way... and he was so tall and rugged? There was no way a guy like that would be into a scrawny nerd like him... His face heated up, and he looked away as his date sat down. "H-hi... I'm... Cal," he mumbled. "I uh..." He let that trail off, not really sure where he was going with the thought. He rubbed one arm nervously, still not looking at Gilbert.
[attr="class","contentbox"] Gilbert honestly had joined this event with selfish wants. Maybe more innocent than others but he came with the intention of trying to meet some trainers who possibly would be interested in buying the pokemon that he bred. Though the hopeless romantic was in the back of his head hoping to meet someone nice that he could talk with. It wasn't until he rockognized the name on his card and the table that he blinked for a moment in confusion. Why was a gym leader here? Also Gilbert of all people had been paired with him. Gilbert simply grinned though, he didn't know what else to do because all he ever did was smile. It seemed clear that the fire gym leader was uncomfortable but Gilbert now wanted to make it his sole purpose to try and make the man feel better. [break][break] "Were you dragged into this by chance Sir?" Gilbert asked as he folded his arms. Shaking his head a bit, well he didn't know though maybe the gym leader had just wanted to meet some people. "Forgive me I've only seen your name in papers never you, I just recently moved to Arciel. My names Gilbert I'm a breeder." Gilbert gave him a thumbs up proudly. Gilbert could talk about his profession all day but he knew that probably wasn't the gym leaders cup of tea. He looked to the ice breaker questions, lifting up the card almost quizzically. "Sooo, what's the cheesiest pick up line you've heard?" He asked, some of these questions seemed... strange. Then again it was exactly what the event had provided so that's what he would ask.
[attr="class","momoPBody"] Ajiafaewo he wasn't dragged exactly but was indeed pressured to come. Was he that obvious??? Cal withdrew a little more in on himself as he regretted letting his mom and stepdad convince him to come.
Oh Arceus, and Gilbert knew who he was, of course. Well, at least the publicity angle on this was working... assuming he didn't ruin it by making a complete fool of himself. He took a deep breath to try to steady himself. It... oddly relaxed him just the slightest bit to hear the guy was a breeder. Someone who loved and cared for young Pokemon sounded really nice...
But then he went for the icebreaker, and Cal's face flushed. "Um... I don't exactly uh... People don't really use pickup lines on me..." he admitted. "Though I guess... there's that one I hear on TV sometimes, the..." He took another deep breath and pasted on a fake smile as he mimicked, "Did it hurt? When you fell from heaven?" He let out one small note of a laugh. "I dunno... I'd think that'd basically be calling someone a scary demon when you think about it... Not exactly romantic..."
[attr="class","contentbox"] Gilbert gave the gym leader time, he waited patiently. He figured someone this popular wouldn't come to these sorts of things, but everyone to their own right. It wasn't as if Cailean wasn't a person after all. Though when he answered his question he seemed a bit surprised. A good looking young man such as himself had to have some admirers or was there something else to him that just didn't attract others? Gilbert gave a chuckle as well though shaking his head. "I suppose they mean well by it, normally I think it means your drop dead gorgeous. Which if I had to say myself you are a very handsome man." Gilbert tried to flatter him a little. He only spoke the truth after all! Gilbert had a habit of being kind it was simply just in his nature. [break][break] "When I think about it I don't think anyone has used a pick up line on me. Nobody has really shown interest in me romantically." which was fine. Gilbert knew he gave off more of a friend energy than anything. He treated everyone equally possibly because he didn't know what else to do. "Let's try this one, if you had been granted three wishes what would they be?" he was curious as to what the man would answer. Hoping that he would get deep down inside of there before the buzzer went off to go to the next table.
[attr="class","momoPBody"] Cal's face flushed bright red. Him? Handsome? Very handsome even? "....Th-thank you," he mumbled, almost too quiet to hear. Even his ears were red, and if one looked closely Cal would have sworn that there was steam coming off of him. There wasn't, of course, but he sure felt like it.
No one had shown interest in Gilbert either? But he was so... big and strong? "That's surprising," Cal murmured. But he wasn't sure if Gilbert heard him, since he quickly moved on. Wishes?
"Uh..." Gosh, that was really tough... "I... I guess..." He took a deep breath, and breathed out slowly. It was okay to be a little selfish and self indulgent with a question like this, right? "I wish... I was cool enough to be confident..." he said wistfully.
What else though? "Um... I don't... really know what else. I guess I wish people wouldn't throw away good food when there are hungry kids in the world, and that everyone would always be kind to their Pokemon." He felt bad being selfish with more than one wish, so... "Wh..what about you?"
[attr="class","contentbox"] Gilbert was quick to move on because he felt like this was the nature of this game. Speed dating right? Then again he selfishly had hoped it would be a ploy to sell his pokemon! He didn't feel bad about that in the slightest he was simply hyper and excited as well. Though when the gym leader wished that he could be more confident Gilbert felt a little bad. How much pressure this poor guy had to go through? Gilbert certainly didn't think he'd be able to do it. He wasn't much of a figher, he trained his pokemon out of need for them to evolve and create quality eggs that trainers would deem appropriate to purchase. He also cared about taking care of the pokemon nobody wanted as well for them to have a place to stay.[break][break] When the man had gone on to say he couldn't think of much else. Things like feeding the poor kids and people being kind to pokemon. Things that Gilbert could resonate with, he too wished that there wasn't so much injustice in the world. The man smiled and cleared his throat, his three wishes? He didn't quiet know if they were wishes to be granted per say they were just things that he wanted to do in his life. "Well those are some good answers anyway Sir. I couldn't think of it any other way." Gilbert began. "As for me, if my three wishes were to be granted it would to be for trainers to line up at my door purchasing quality eggs that they'll love and raise to challenge the gyms just like yours! Second I would have the biggest collection of shinies in Arciel. Lastly I would be the one taking care of all the sick and injured pokemon that nobody else wanted no matter how frustrating they'd be." he nodded his head. Get him talking about his passions and he could talk for hours.[break][break] "Ah sorry I must have been rambling on." he felt a little embarassed rubbing the back of his neck. Gilbert fought the urge he wanted nothing more than to show the gym leader his pride and joy Birb and Nancy but that wasn't exactly appropriate was it. This time was for humans not pokemon.
[attr="class","momoPBody"] Hm?? "Ah, n-no you weren't rambling," Cailean assured him. "Just answering the question really. And they were really nice answers." Maybe not as selfless as his, but Cal knew those were kind of cop-outs. Gilbert's answers, on the other hand, showed he knew himself and what he wanted in life, and Cal could really respect that.
"Um... Have you done any of that so far?" he asked. "I know you did say you're a breeder, but the others. Collected Shiny Pokemon, or rescued injured ones, or stuff like that?" He thought about it for just a moment before saying, "I don't think any of my Pokemon are Shiny." Unless maybe one of them was one of those really subtle ones and he was just too dumb to notice, but he was PRETTY sure... "And they were all in good health when I got them, though I guess... I've taken care of them when they've gotten sick before, if that counts...? Probably not but..." He shuffled a bit, but then waited for Gilbert's answer.
[attr="class","contentbox"] Get the man talking about his pokemon and he could talk forever honestly. He felt good moving away from the icebreakers and to get into an actual conversation. Not that he expected anything to happen between him and a gym leader that would be great but he knew that it just wasn't for him. Gilbert brought his attention back to the tast at hand. He spoke about shinies and how he didn't have any, or at least thought he didn't have any. "I'd say it counts taking care of your sick little ones." Gilbert nodded. After all it was important how they took care of their own and that's what made quality pokemon to begin with. "I do have two shinies at the moment. My main team has em, my precious shiny ditto Nancy and my shiny dartrix Birb." he fawned at the thought of the two of them. Too bad they couldn't be out with him right now.[break][break] "I did breed a shiny pokemon recently, but I sold them in a batch of eggs in the end." he tried to recall what type of pokemon but it just didn't come to mind. "As for the injured part, the same goes for me. Other than my own pokemon I haven't really gotten my hands on any neglected pokemon back at my farm. Sometimes I debate going to adopt some to work with them." he knew many of those poke's had been abandoned. They had issue's you had to work through and he would love to make a bond with them. "I've made a handful of money though, not much. I'm trying to spread my name around. Maybe I'll even open a poke sitting business." he chuckled softly. Imagining a bunch of pokemon running around his house and property.
[attr="class","momoPBody"] "Oh. A Shiny Ditto?" Cal's eyes seemed to sparkle just a bit. "I hear they're the most desirable Shiny of all. You must be really lucky." After all, it was hard to obtain Ditto since they didn't breed traditionally, and they could be used to help make more Shinies of practically any species. How incredible.
Oh? So he wanted to care for injured ones but hadn't really yet? That made Cal feel a little better, heh.
"A Pokesitting business sounds really cute..." he admitted. "Especially if you mostly take in the little ones. I can... imagine you covered in Baby Pokemon..." The smallest hint of a laugh escaped the shy boy.
