Down the worn not-path Gabe and Clopper went. In the distance, a Lurantis was picking at the dead grass and attempting to make something of a flower crown. She looked up as the human and his Pokemon traveled on and raised a scythe appendage in a wave before going back to what she was doing. Gabe saw the motion, registered what it was, and then had Clopper keep going. He wasn’t interested in keeping up with more Grass Pokemon. He had more than plenty right then.
Using Shiny Charm: 1/50 odds rather than 1/250 Lucky Egg given to whoever is battling; EXP share given to Ponyta Party: Charmeleon [Lizbeth, lvl 50], Gogoat [Clopper, lvl 46 ], Ponyta [Blazerun, lvl 24] Boltund [Lady Fetchworthy, lvl 50], Alakazam [Harriet, lvl 47] , Murkrow [Crowlie, lvl 45]
They traveled on for a while again and seemed to making good time. Fort Alpha or whatever was on the horizon now, and if they rushed it, they were sure to make it by the end of the day. That would have been the case, however, had not a smoke signal of sorts risen up from the air and caught Gabe’s gaze.
“Clopper, you see that?” Gabe called. The Gogoat slowed to a halt to look out where Gabe was pointing. Her nose scrunched a bit at that, and her ears flicked downwards. The last time they had followed after something peculiar, they had been ambushed by a massive Centiskorch, Gabe, why would you want to— Ugh she already knew why. She sighed, turned, and started in that direction. Gabe grinned and sat up a little higher to see.
What they would come upon, however, was not a Fire Pokemon, however, but a girl sitting by a fire with a Raichu and a Dugtrio. She looked up and immediately smiled upon seeing him, and Gabe fought the urge to frown back at her. “Hi there!”
“Ah, hello,” Gabe spoke as Clopper shifted around to give them both a sideways view of the girl. The Raichu looked up, but the Dugtrio seemed more focused on the fire than any of them.
“My name’s Hope, what’s yours?”
Gabe forced a smile. “Gabe, a pleasure…” He really wanted to get going, but Hope was cute enough to have him ease of Clopper, sit down, and chat for a bit. She was actually from the Orre, and that was interesting for its own reason. When he asked if she had ever been to Arro, though, she shook her head. Gabe sighed and smiled.
After a while of that, he waved good bye and headed onwards.
Wandering along for a while, it would be Clopper who noticed a particular smell. A call escaped from her which had Gabe perking up again and giving her the go-ahead to find it. What they would find was… a Sitrus tree of all things. Picking one of the fruits, Gabe offered it to Clopper, then got one for himself and one to go. The well-rounded flavor of these things was always nice. He supposed with a farm he could grow more of these now, actually.
Just as Gabe was about to climb on Clopper again and take off, movement among the brush not too far off caught his eyes. “Is that a—“ No, it couldn’t be, could it? Clopper’s eyes too found it, and she had a much less awed reaction. Ears fell flat on her head. She shifted her weight from one side to the other, and both hooves stomped a little shakily. No, please….. Please no OH GOD!
Leaping from the brush with a fire in her eyes was a Pyroar, but not just any Pyroar, one whose coloring very much matched a certain Litleo that Gabe already had. “What are the odds…” Gabe asked no one in particular. Arceus damn if only he had Kitty with him! A wild look flashed across Gabe’s features even as the Pyroar roared at him and Clopper. Clopper yelped and started to run— only to stop and find Gabe still standing there. Move move move move, MOVE GABE! Just as the Pyroar uttered another Noble Roar this time! The sound vibrated passed Gabe and earned a cringe in response.
Fishing out a Pokeball, though, Gabe released a surprising choice: Crowlie, the Murkrow. The Pyroar tilted her head a little irritably at seeing him. She would have much preferred the Gogoat! No matter! A Hyper Voice broke from her instead reverberating up into the air at the Murkrow. The latter cringed. “Crowlie, Foul Play,” Gabe ordered. The Murkrow engulphed himself in dark aura and went flying at the Pyroar. The latter took the swipe to the face and roared in response. Clawing about and shaking her head, she just barely missed Crunching him.
“Now Wing Attack!” Gabe went on. The Murkrow swept around and slammed a wing into the back of the Pyroar’s head. She hissed, turned, and swiped— only for the bird to be out of reach again. Irritated, she took in a breath, and her maw grew bright red. Cloppser shut her eyes. She couldn’t watch! “Fly up higher, Crow!” Gabe called. The Murkrow burst into the air trying desperately to avoid the fire. He was nicked, though, rather badly on the wing, and a cry escaped from him as a result.
Gabe winced. “Feint Attack!” came the order. The Murkrow became a shadowy figure and went barreling back down onto the Pyroar again. She met his power with a Crunch in response, taking more damage than she was giving by far. Gabe had an idea right after, though. Grabbing a Cornn Berry, he tossed it out to the Pyroar who was briefly distracted by it. Grabbing a Luxury Ball, he tossed it at the Pyroar.
Cornn Berry +15 catch chance when used during a battle, so 75+15 = 90% catch rate.

As the Pokeball dinged in capture, Gabe grinned a little looking up towards Crowlie. “Good work!” he called before raising a Pokeball up and returning the Murkrow. Clopper let out a breath of thanks. She was safe now. Gabe walked back to her and started to climb on again. They ran once more, and sure enough, there was the fort or whatever in the distance. They had made it.
