Construction Work Job Another day, another city, another time for Marley to work and grind to earn himself some money. And, thankfully, the ever expanding city of Plum was always looking for workers to help in construction. Although in Plum's case, it was less building outwards, and more building up. And that's how Marley now found himself several stories above the ground, working on extending one of Plum's many skyscrapers. He and another worker were waiting for a girder to be brought up via crane, waving it over to them before they guided it over to where it needed to be. It took several of them to move it into position. Marley held the massive girder in place, while another worker worked on fixing it into position. Word Count: 124 D|zatx9r

Nothing happened! All rolls were passed. Marley Hyde Good job! The first of many girders is now secured in place.

Well, that had been easy enough. As the others workers moved to get ready for the next girder to come up, Marley glanced around. Some of the others were starting to place horizontal bracing between the girders, reinforcing the growing building and placing spots for the drywall to be put on. Seeing a couple of workers getting ready to put up one, Marley walked over to them. "Here, let me give ya a hand." He bent down, wrapping his arms around the metal beam to try and heave it up. Heavy as well, but it needed to be. And he needed to simply hold it in place long enough for the workers to weld it in place.

Nothing happened! All rolls were passed. Marley Hyde You are way strong enough to hold that sucker in place even though it is big and heavy. The welders appreciate this and start to work slowly sealing everything together.

Marley chuckled, holding the massive beam in place as they welded and sealed it in place. Man, those exercises had really been working out. Granted, he wasn't going to try anything too stupid up here. He was being paid to work after all. Once the beam had been properly sealed, Marley let it go. There. That was one part of the structure done. Now time to lay some stonework. As the others workers went off to help with other tasks, Marley brought over some of the bricks that had been brought up. With care, he started applying the cement and laying them out on the outer edge of the wall, starting to bring up the walls.

Nothing happened! All rolls were passed. Marley Hyde Your strength continues to do wonders! One brick, two brick, red brick-- blue brick? Was that supposed to be in here?

Marley blinked when he noticed the blue brick, before shrugging and placing it down. Well, if they're going to paint over this once it's done, then it shouldn't be a problem. Besides, this was only the outer wall. He continued building up the wall until that portion of it was finished. Ok, now to just leave it the cement to dry, and then they can get to work on putting in the insulation and the wiring.
Speaking of which, at that point, he spotted one of the cranes bringing up more materials and supplies to the upper level. With the other workers busy, Marley walked over to help guild the supplies over, to get them up here safely.

Marley waved back down to the guy. Well, this job was certainly proving easier than it would in the past. Marley was certainly getting the hang of this construction thing. As he set the supplies down, he looked over to see another beam was being brought up, and was being moved into position. There was only two of them, working to hold the beam in place, meaning somebody had to fix it into position. "Allow me mates," he said, getting the torque wrench. As the workers moved the beam into position, Marley kneeled down and started using the wrench to screw the beam into position.

A random event has occurred! What will you do? Marley HydeThe wrench keeps slipping off the bolt/screw. No dexterity leaves you rather frustrated.

Marley was getting a little frustrated with this. Dammit, this shouldn't be too hard. Just fix the bolt into the wrench, press the trigger, and hold it in place until it was fastened in place. But the damn thing kept slipping off. After a couple of attempts, it was getting clear this wasn't going to get done fast, and he wanted to avoid knocking any screws down from the building. "Ok, one of you switch with me," he said to one of the workers, getting up to hold the beam in place, and allow one of the others to wrench the screws into place.

A random event has occurred! What will you do? Marley Hyde You grab around the beam like you had the last one- only for all of your muscles to scream all at once. This beam was much heavier than the last, and you cannot hold it despite your best efforts. It seems to be swaying even in your grip. Do something fast or it'll fall.

Dammit, what the hell is up with this beam? What did they make it out of? Marley grit his teeth, his muscles tensing as he tried to hold the beam in place. After everything he went through, he was NOT going to screw up now and drop it. He breathed in deep and pushed his muscles onward, feeling the straining as he tried to hold the beam up. Perhaps he shouldn't have pushed himself through all of this. He made a mental note to take a quick break once this beam has been fixed into place. Speaking of which, what was taking the guy?

Well, at least he wasn't the only one having trouble with the torque wrench. Even the other worker was having trouble getting the thing screwed into place. Marley would help, but right now he was focused on holding the beam in place for him. "Ok, calm down mate," Marley said, trying to help the guy through this, "Take yer time mate. I can hold this thing up for ya all day." Ok, so that wasn't entirely true. His muscles were straining, but he was hoping to take some of the pressure off of him so he can get the job done.

A random event has occurred! What will you do? Marley Hyde Sounds like that came out the wrong way. The other worker calls you a braggart and says a few choice Kalosian words, then says he's going on break. Somehow you don't think it's his assigned time to go on break.

Marley's eye twitched as the man threw an insult at him before going off to sulk. A freakin' Kolasian. Why was he not surprised? But, he was still left holding up the beam, waiting for someone to try and fix the damn thing in place. his muscles were screaming, a small slick of sweat forming on his skin. His body was going to be hurting big time once this was all over. "Oi!" he called out, to anyone nearby, "Anyone able to come over here and give me a hand with this?" They just needed to get the damn thing fixed into position. It wasn't that hard.

A random event has occurred! What will you do? Marley Hyde Surprisingly, there was no answer. A cursory sweep around the area would reveal that there's no one around; did everyone decide to take a break at the same time??? It looks like you're on your own, and this beam isn't getting any lighter.

"Oh you bastards..." Marley growled under his teeth, straining to hold up the beam. Where the hell had everyone gone? No wonder this thing seemed heavier than before. He was the only one holding the damn thing up! Well, if he was going to fasten this beam into place, well, he'd have to do it himself.
It would be tricky. Trying to hold up the beam, his muscles screaming, he tried to reach for the torque wrench. He tried to balance the beam onto his back as he tried to fasten the thing into place. Certainly not an easy task, but dammit, that's what he was here for!

Nothing happened! All rolls were passed. Marley Hyde Somehow you manage to summon the strength of three men and wrangle some screws into place! The beam isn't fully secured yet, but at least it won't suddenly topple over now. A few workers on the early shift are trickling back from break.
