Erin Valentine
Age 25 Birthday April 17th, 1994 Gender Male Pronouns He/Him Orientation Pansexual, Male Leaning Faction Freelancer Class Nurse Rank Caretaker Occupation Pokemon Trainer Hometown Castelia City, Unova Current Residence Birch City, Arciel | Tell us a little about yourself. How would you describe yourself? "Ah, a happy person?" Leaned forward against the table, Erin smiles faintly at the interviewer, pressing his cheek into his palm. "I'd describe myself as happy. I'm happy, and I like to make other people happy. I was always the one, I guess, looking after my friends and the other kids in my house. Kids, they've got the, like, self preservation of a corn chip. They don't care. They do whatever they want - it's nuts. People are just nuts, and I just... I looked after them. And I guess I liked it. So, yeah. I'm happy, I'm helpful." It doesn't seem like he's totally honest, but... at the same time, he's pretty at ease with it all. "I like telling jokes, and having fun beyond that. I-- I'm a bit shy," he notes, though has enough though to mention, "I mean this, this is easy, I'm-- I mean, I might not see you after this. It's so easy to just spill it all to a stranger, right? But, people I might get to know? Oh, god, it's so hard. But rewarding, when I manage. Making people laugh is just... the best. That's how I know I've done good. Getting a laugh." Why are you interested in the class you've chosen? "Well, like I said, I like looking after people, and Pokemon. It's, ah, rewarding! Like, okay, once when I was a kid, I fell off my bike and skinned my knee something fierce, and... I just remember sitting by the side of the road with blood all over my leg and this lady came by with her Chansey, and I was just... crying like a baby, and she asks if I'm alright and takes a first aid kit out of her bag while her Chansey just gives me her egg. And I remember it being, just... one of the best eggs I ever had, and I ate it while the lady just talked to me about anything and everything under the sun, because I was a kid with a short fuse and the whole time I was ready to cry again..." A pause, and he taps the table, smiling. "But I didn't. Because of her." "I wanna be like that. I want to be what she was, to me, to everyone." Why are you interested in training in Arciel? Why not another region? "Why not? There's tons of people out here, who need help just as much as anywhere else. Besides that, I like the sights - it's really pretty here. Like, super pretty - and it kinda reminds me of home, just a little." Leaning forward, the man fiddles with the frayed edges of the hoodie he wore, before saying, "Besides, I don't really have any family anywhere else, so... starting somewhere new, where nobody really knew me? It felt like a good idea." What do you consider your best attributes? They can be physical, mental, social, or anything else. His hands immediately fly to his hair, mussed up blue locks shaking as he fluffs it with a smile. "Bad to say my hair? It's naturally wavy, and curly... I always liked it. I work really hard to keep it nice--" When the interviewer doesn't seem so interested in that, he drops his hands into his lap, and nervously laughs. "Being full of yourself ain't much of a good attribute, huh? Well, I... I think my willingness to help, I guess, would be a good attribute. I care for people. I do what I can, where I can. I wanna feel useful." Maybe that was a weird way of putting it. Was it? What do you consider your worst attributes? Be honest, now! "Oh, tons. I have poor eyesight, my teeth are kinda crooked, I've got bad posture..." Erin starts listing off a plethora of visual qualms he has with himself, before eventually being given a rather stern look from the interviewer. "Haha, right. Full of myself, not full of myself, can't I just make up my mind?" Trailing off, he says, "Well, I guess one is I don't have a good perception of myself. And, I kinda - when the going gets tough, my mouth gets going? I ramble. When I'm nervous. Humor's my coping mechanism. It's, like, a double whammy, and it annoys the hell out of people. And myself. But mostly other people. Also--" The interviewer stares. "Oh. Am I doing it?" He shuts up. What was your childhood like? How was school? "School was okay. I think it was how school goes for most people. You go to class, you learn stuff, you... get bullied, sometimes, for whatever reason. I dunno. I don't think much on it." The way Erin goes quiet implies he very much thinks on it. "As for my childhood? It was alright, too. My parents put me up for adoption shortly after I was born, and... I just sorta grew up in the orphanage, or the occasional foster home. I never quite stuck with any of the families that took me up, and... the only one I did, was this older lady. But - it didn't work out, 'cause, uh..." Trailing off, he rubs his nose, frowning. "Well, it just didn't really work out. But apart from that, I usually got along with the other kids." How is your relationship with your family? Fidgeting, he says, "I kinda already said I don't have one." A pause, awkward and long, and he says, "So, I guess it sucks by default, huh?" What do you like to do for fun? "Looking at memes. Or, just, doing stuff on the internet. I like playing games on my phone..." Trailing off, and looking to move into something else other than games and phone, he says, "I read a lot, too. All kinds of books - I spent a lot of time just reading, growing up. I know, like, an absurd amount of factoids, for no good reason." "I can knit, also. I like knitting. Scarves is about the extent of my talent, but like, not to toot my own horn, they're preeeetty cozy scarves." What are your feelings on romance? "Uh, hard. And a mess. I've had basically one boyfriend and let me tell you, it was... awful. I mean, he's a nice guy, really, but totally not cut out for a relationship." A pause. "Sure, maybe I also kinda sucked, but the point is, I think I'd rather just meet people in passing and leave it at that. Why bother trying to set up something long-term, when all they're gonna do is hurt you, and leave you crying all alone because they drove off and they were your ride home so you have to call a cab and it's really awkward when they ask you why you're crying and you don't want to answer and--" Another stare, and Erin shuts up. "Basically, for someone with a name like Valentine, I really haven't had any luck in that department. It's whatever." What are your goals for the future? Short-term and long-term. "Goals. In the short-term? I wanna make friends. I want to have, like, a group of friends I can go out with on the weekend, get drinks, and laugh at stupid Buzz articles on the internet about the top twenty Pokemon most likely to break into your house to steal your shoes. That's what I want. Also, maybe to get a nice place - god, I live in his, like, tiny little studio, and I hate it." Thinking about it, Erin leans back and folds his arms. "But in the long term? Well, provided I stay here, which I probably will, it'd... be nice to get a job at a Center. I wanna be a nurse after all, right? I mean, the looks on people's faces when you do right by them? When you, just... fix their problems, or do something they need? I live for that. I want to do that every day of my life." If you could be a Pokemon, what species or typing would you choose and why? "Fairy. Is that stereotypical?" The interviewer asks him to go into why it'd possibly be stereotypical, and he shrugs it off. "Nevermind. I just, I like them - fairy. It's such an inherently cute name, and they've just got this... happy, friendly air about them. I like that. Like, Togekiss, right? It literally... it's literally known for visiting people, and bringing happiness wherever it goes. They'e a symbol, an icon, of goodness. I'd want to be one of those, I'd want people to look forward to me coming." Man, for someone who said he was happy, it's a little sad in here, isn't it? The interviewer, luckily, doesn't remark on it, sparing a potential meltdown. What do Pokemon mean to you? "Friends. Lifetime friends. From... From trainers, to people in all fields of careers, Pokemon fill in the blanks between everyone. I've never had one of my own, but I can see it. I can see it in the guy walking down the street, with his Pikachu following him around, with a sparkle in its eye. I can see it in the old lady and all her Meowths, that she treats like her own, and they do the same for her." Erin leans back, smiling. "I hope I can have something like that of my own. I hope whatever I get, if this whole process goes smoothly, it's... it works out well. I hope we look after each other." Anything else you'd like to tell us about before you go? "I'm SO sorry for rambling, but at the same time, it feels pretty good getting it all out." Erin rises to his feet, stumbling briefly (but catching himself on the table,) and laughs anxiously. "I think I'm good, otherwise. Hey, thanks a lot for the interview. I hope I won. I hope I blew everyone else out of the water. I'll start writing my acceptance speech." |
Appearance
Height 5'06" / 170cm Build Thin, Soft Hair Color Navy Blue Eye Color Yellow | Erin's figure is that of a nerd who doesn't do much. He's got about as much athleticism to him as a baby, but he does his best - even if it occasionally has him wheezing. He's thin and lithe, squirmy and quick on his feet - but only for a little bit. He looks like he gets cold easily. Often, Erin is seen wearing a pair of thick-rimmed glasses, thicker sweaters, and tight jeans, because apparently, he's a really big fan of his legs. He gets mistaken for being in his late teens often, but he kind of likes it. He has small piercings on his ear-lobes alone, and usually they're unassuming in design, unless he's deliberately trying to stick out. Aura Like a strawberry lemonade, Erin's aura shifts in swirls between pink and yellow, emanating off of him slowly like the waves upon a beach. Some days, it is invaded by clouds of gray and black, brightening again only in the presence of others- but not by much. |

It's all in an attempt to ease the moment, because if you're laughing, how can you be sad? Not everyone appreciates this, though. Also, he likes cake. Like, really likes cake. Please keep him away from cake. Pokemon
