She was a warrior queen known as being strong-willed and cunning, wildly ambitious, and slightly in the habit of stealing prized magical Taurus from neighboring kingdoms just for the sake of watching an awesome bullfight. In her own right, Maeve McRoy shares quite a few traits with her namesake; she's a quick-witted business woman, Maeve likes to keep her Pokemon Breeder status as pedigree as possible, and enjoys the art of finding perfect matches for breeding almost as much as she enjoys raising the little ones that hatch. She isn't above charging top-Pen for her Pokemon to even the cutest new trainers, because she takes pride in her work, dammit! That said she will happily set people up with one of her Pokemon that she believes suits them best...so long as they pay up. She is something of a matron to both her Pokemon and the younger trainers she meets. If somebody isn't eating right she will offer them food, and chew them out for neglecting their health if they refuse. She can be snide when around similarly snarky individuals, but at her core, Maeve is full of care and love and just wants to help others be their best. And also Turtwigs. Maeve loves Turtwigs very much. She loves every Pokemon she raises but...Turtwigs are very special to her. So don't look down on them or else. . History Maeve McRoy was born in the bright, glittering city of Castelia at the heart of Unova. While a small two-bedroom apartment was probably not the most ideal place to raise a wild-child like herself, mother and father tried their best to keep her from getting into too much trouble; it was a mixture of high energy and a wit too quick for her age that got her into all sorts of chaos. Though once she started learning to climb onto chairs to get to the higher shelves, and some drastic measures had to be taken--like multiple child-proof locks on everything and bolting certain pieces of furniture to the floor--Maeve's parents decided the best way to handle her was to get her a Pokemon to give her a much-needed outlet for her energy. This was a bad idea. Enter, Great A'Tuin the Turtwig. Great A'Tuin and Maeve were inseparable. Unfortunately they were also like-minds, and so while Maeve did have more of an outlet for her energy in the form of Pokemon battles and training, she and Great A'tuin (or G.A for short) would also get into more and more trouble as time went on. As a child just on the cusp of her teenage years, Maeve was already itching to start her Pokemon adventure with G.A and conquer Unova's gyms! But her parents tried to dissuade her from going out until she was older, worried that their still quite rambunctious child would get hurt. But Maeve ignored them, and not too long before her thirteenth birthday, she and Great A'Tuin snuck away with a satchel full of swiped food and Pen and went running through the streets of Castelia. They made it out of the city before midnight and were out in the wilderness, on their own, still in the darkness utterly... ...and, unfortunately, the road right out of Castelia is entirely desert, which she had not been prepared for. It was freezing cold, so cold that the water they packed was frozen in her satchel when they stopped. They could have turned back and returned to the city, where it would still be cold but better than this, but...all her life, Maeve had been proud and stubborn. She pushed on through the frigid night until they could see lights in the distance. Nimbasa City was so, so close, but they were so cold, and Great A'Tuin refused to go into their pokeball even if it would have kept her from freezing as well. They were so close. Maeve doesn't remember very well what happened after then. Not the next few days directly after. She woke up in the hospital in Nimbasa with her mother and father--too frantic to be angry, at least a first--worrying over her. She'd gotten frostbite on her fingers and bits of her face. She could hardly feel her hands. It was the scariest thing she had ever seen, seeing her hands purple and immobile. But where was Great A'Tuin? Her father broke it to her gently: when Maeve had finally collapsed from the cold, it was her loyal Turtwig that dragged her the rest of the way to Nimbasa. But in the process, the poor Pokemon had been hurt just as badly--if not worse--than she had been, and was in urgent care. It was very, very possible that Great A'Tuin wouldn't make it. And it was all her fault. Nobody said it to her--who would say such a thing to a child--but Maeve felt it deep in her bones worse than frostbite, worse than cold, worse than anything. Several days of that agony passed, as well as intense medical treatment to restore her fingers and face, before there was good news: Great A'Tuin would live. But the odds that she would ever be strong enough to battle, or even travel Unova, were incredibly slim. Maeve would need to either choose a different partner Pokemon to do her Pokemon adventure, or...give up on it. So she picked a different path. Maeve kept Great A'Tuin close to her, and the two of them worked on a goal for a different future--one where they could both be happy, and get to experience all sorts of new things without the strain on Great A'Tuin's body. Maeve decided to become a Pokemon Breeder and raise up eggs and infant Pokemon alike, training them in battle and finding them homes with trainers who would take them on the adventures she dreamed of once. In this way, a decade passed. Great A'Tuin evolved twice over into a gorgeous Torterra, and Maeve grew from a wild child into a beautiful woman with a slight mischievous streak, but also a loving, tender heart toward every egg and Pokemon that passed through her arms. She loved the path they picked. Alas, time passes. As humans grow, so too do Pokemon, and Great A'Tuin still suffered from many health problems that never really went away. About seven years ago, Maeve's beloved starter Pokemon finally passed peacefully on, and in their place, they'd left a legacy of little Turtwigs of their own. None of them were a replacement, as nothing would ever take her starter's place in her heart, but Maeve moved forward with many of Great A'Tuin's daughters as her new closest companions. They helped her care for eggs and infant Pokemon, some of them went on with young trainers as their very first Pokemon which brought her endless pride, and some bred their own little ones as well. Two years after, though, came the Ultra Beast attack. Maeve McRoy didn't loose anyone personal to her in the attack. Her mother and father--now living in peaceful retirement in the White Forest--were safe, and all of her precious Pokemon and eggs were kept from harm, but the shock and fear of it all prompted a deep-seeded dream of hers to return to the surface. She had remained in Unova for the care of her precious Great A'Tuin, but with them passed, and the world trembling, she wanted to travel. She didn't need a Pokemon adventure, she just wanted to go out there and see as much of it as she could. And that's exactly what she did. For the last five years, Maeve has been making headway through as many of the Earth's regions as she can get to--from touring the whole of Kanto and its surrounding regions for two years, to jumping between Galar and Kalos for a few, even just road-trips to Orre when she was back on her home continent...Maeve lived the life she had wanted to see as a child, but through the eyes of a woman who had lost much and gained more. She's currently here in Arciel, staying in Birch as she has found a great deal of love for its Botanical Gardens. Since it's still so close to "home" she feel quite comfortable setting up a little shop and trying her hand as resuming her Pokemon Breeder career. So far, things are going well. Time will tell if she decides to stay for good. Goals Short Term:

Appearance
Height 5'08" / 176cm Build Physically Fit, "Pear" Shaped Hair Color Dark Brown Eye Color Violet | Maeve has two very different "looks": work, and casual. When Maeve is working with Pokemon and eggs, especially when working with infants, she dresses in tight, practical clothing that leaves little for claws or teeth or flames to catch onto. She can usually be seen in a fitted light-colored shirt tucked into sturdy denim pants, and with especially volatile ones she'll also don elbow-length gloves and knee-height boots, preferably made of a material best suited for the type she'd handling (usually something fire-proof or rubber). Her hair is always kept up when working. Outside of work her manner of dress relaxes a lot. She'll wear her hair loose and wear less form-fitted clothing, usually long dresses and comfortable--but matching--sneakers. She doesn't usually wear jewelry or anything very flashy except on special occasion, and usually wears only light amount of make-up both in and out of work. Aura Maeve's aura is predominantly an earthy brown that appears at her feet, taking up a small circle of ground around her and following her when she walks. When happy flecks of color spring up in her footsteps, but when she's saddened or angered gray flakes begin to fall around her, similar in appearance to snow. When she is in an especially good mood brilliantly bright flowers of every color sprout up from the "ground". |

Maeve, though an avid traveler, isn't a polyglot. She knows the basics of Kalosian, enough Kantonese to ask for help while travelling, and understands--but cannot speak--Arronian. Pokemon
