"Saber, what is it?" [break][break] The Absol pointed with her foot to a large X carved into the base of a tree. Kaisei crouched down to inspect it. "It looks like... this was made recently," he said. "Very suspicious. What do you suppose it means?" [break][break] Saber said nothing, as usual, and swiped her horn against the same tree higher up. Kaisei could see that it was a nearly identical X. "Why are you... wait. Did you do this?" he asked, pointing to the lower mark. "But this mark was already here when we arrived. So that means..." Saber gazed impassively at her trainer, waiting for the gears in his head to spin to a conclusion. [break][break] "Saber." His voice was grave. [break][break] "I think we might be lost." [break][break] Well, don't just look at me like it's all my fault, Kaisei thought. Okay, maybe technically, most of it was his fault, in that he was the one who had suggested they depart from the main trail and hack a shortcut through the trees, but even so! She could have stopped him! And at least part of this was definitely Arceus's fault, yes, they had made the damn forest in the first place, they really hadn't needed to make it so confusing. He looked back at Saber. She hadn't moved, as if she was waiting for him to make a decision as to what to do next. [break][break] "Saber! It is time for a snack break!" [break][break] He sat down on a fallen log nearby and pulled a packet of Pex Mix out of his backpack, helping himself to the fish chips and dried seaweed within. Saber stretched, laid herself down across the roots of the doubly-marked tree, and breathed a deep sigh in his direction. Cupid the Cleffa was lost. He’d wandered off from Sid the minute they had glanced away, and now he was regretting this spur of the moment decision. Which way led back to Sid? He was sure it had to be that way! But then walking that way, he hadn’t found them… so he’d turned around and gone another way. And then another. And now he was entirely lost and very upset.
Sidney Ridley was very stressed. One minute, Cupid had been there, and the next he was gone. They called out to him over and over, but he did not appear. They had released several Pokemon and spread out, but they had not found him. And now they were vaguely lost themselves with Angel the Espeon only kind of having some foreknowledge with the ability to read the atmosphere. She stuck close at hand… because these woods were scary in their own way, and she kind of wished she wasn’t actually here whoops.
It would be Cupid that Kaisei and Saber would run into first, the Cleffa came around a tree and immediately fell back at the sudden sight of the massive Absol. He would have cried, but he was stunned to silence by the sheer size of her. So he just stared, eyes wide as saucers, mouth agape.
It was a flick of Saber's head that alerted Kaisei to the arrival of a new Pokemon in their vicinity. For a moment, he was just staring at the Cleffa, as wide-eyed as the little fairy Pokemon itself was. Wasn't that Pokemon supposed to be especially rare? In which case... Then his hand immediately reached for the Luxury Ball in his bag. Well if it's just going to stand there and stare, there's really no need to battle it - not when I have this extra-special ball! He took aim, let the ball fly, and-- [break][break] --and Saber immediately pounced, knocking the ball out of the air mid-flight. It rolled to a stop at Kaisei's feet. [break][break] "SABER! What the hell do you think you're doing?!" [break][break] The Absol scooped the Luxury Ball off the ground with a paw, shook her head, and lightly tapped the ball against her own Pokeball before handing it back to Kaisei. "Ah, so you're saying that the Cleffa is already owned by another trainer?" He nodded, pensive. "Yes, I would suppose that would be logical... Cleffa come from the mountains and we're in a forest after all... So therefore the next thing to do is... We must return this Pokemon to its trainer!" [break][break] Was Saber actually in agreement with him for once? "It's probably some rich middle-aged lady who owns it, and just think of how grateful she'll be," Kaisei said as he walked over toward the Cleffa. "She'll say 'Oh! My heroes! I simply must give you a reward!' ...Saber, why are you banging your head against that tree over there? Get it together, I need you to help me translate." [break][break] He crouched down, to more easily look the Cleffa in the eye, and smiled in a way that he hoped was reassuring. "Hello, little fellow. Are you lost? Where's your momma?" he addressed it in a sing-song voice. [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv8, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Honedge (Sting, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Fomantis (Kusanagi, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Swablu (Murakumo, Lv5, 5/5 Energy) [break][break] Notes: 318 WC[break]
Cupid’s eyes did not perceive the trainer attached to the Absol. She was just… so massive. And he was so small. She could eat him! Or worse! Oh graces! What could be worse than being eaten!
It wasn’t until the Pokeball came flying at him that Cupid realized he was about to be caught! Or not! The Cleffa squeaked and scurried back only after the Absol knocked the ball out of the air. Gripping into the base of a tree, the Cleffa looked sideways to the large man that was there. W-w-wait? T-this c-c-could be good? Maybe this person knew Sid? The sudden exclamation of return had him straightening (as much as a pink cloud could straighten) and making a soft o sound. Yes yes yes! Waddling forward, he looked up at the Absol and her trainer with starry eyes. Please please please bring him back to Si—
Uh….
Oh. Oh dear. Middle-aged lady…. Uh. As the man crouched down, the Cleffa backed up again— right into a tree again. A soft, worried sound escaped from him in response. He wished he knew. Looking one way and then the other as if he half expected Sid to show up right then, he was sorrowfully disappointed when that turned out to not be the case. Looking towards the Absol, he made a small quiet noise. <Have you seen my Siddy?> he asked hoping she would understand.

Oh dear. It seemed that despite his best efforts, the Cleffa was absolutely terrified of Kaisei. Or probably it was Saber. Of course it was Saber. She was, after all, by her very nature terrifying. [break][break] Unfortunately it was also by nature of her being a Pokemon and him not, that he needed her help in this particular case. With the wave of a hand, he beckoned her over, and she softly padded forward, slouching as much as she could to keep as low a profile as possible. When she reached his back she was -- opening his backpack? What? She scooped out an Oran Berry with her mouth, then fully extended into a laying down position, rolling the berry forward with her front paw toward the Cleffa in a show of generosity. [break][break] The Cleffa said something in Pokespeech that Kaisei wasn't able to catch, and Saber slowly shook her head. <I am sorry, little one. I do not know this Siddy you speak of. Trainer and I have seen no one except each other since we entered this forest,> she responded in her own Pokespeech. After letting the words sink in, she continued, <I may be young and inexperienced, but I am still a knight, and a knight is sworn to protect those in need. If you wish, you may travel with us while we seek a way out of this forest. Perhaps the same path will lead to your Siddy.> Although a part of her secretly despaired for how long they would be stuck going around in circles, assuming they kept following her trainer's direction. Maybe it would be better for the Cleffa if he simply wandered off again. At least she wouldn't have to worry about Kaisei badgering some poor woman for a reward... [break][break] Party Update: Charmander (Haru, Lv9, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Honedge (Sting, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Fomantis (Kusanagi, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Swablu (Murakumo, Lv5, 5/5 Energy) [break][break] Notes: 295 WC[break]
Slowly taking the berry into his tiny paws, Cupid the Cleffa looked down at it (about as much as he could look down at it given his size in relation to it) and then up at the massive Absol again. Briefly, he gave a small ‘nod’ in thanks for it. After hearing her words, however, he frowned and hugged the berry to himself. <Oh….> A soft noise, more of a sound than a statement, escaped from him. He didn’t know what to do. He just…. wanted to cry at that point, actually.
The offer had him glancing up again slowly. At the very least if he did choose to go with the Absol and her trainer, he would be safer? Right? Than he was now alone and lost and scared. Yeah. He took a moment to think and eat—and quickly devoured the Oran berry as if it had never been there. Feeling just a bit better, he perked up somewhat and stepped forward, hugging one of Saber’s legs both in thanks and vague comfort. <Thanks!!!> If they could just find Sid…. if they could just….
Meanwhile, much farther off, Sid walked around with Angel occasionally calling out Cupid’s name. Unfortunately, they were still out of earshot.
With the Cleffa having decided to come with them it was time for Kaisei and Saber to get going. However, it quickly became apparent that the Cleffa's little legs weren't going to do the job to keep up, not to mention that it kept clinging onto Saber's leg. Kaisei was about to yell at it to stop being so clingy, but it seemed that Saber decided to take care of the matter first... by lifting her leg up slowly so that the Cleffa could climb onto her back? Did she really? Yes, she did. The Cleffa seemed to be overjoyed, and had even grabbed a tuft of Saber's fur in each of its minuscule hands like it was holding the reins of a horse. Kaisei tried to stifle his indignation but admittedly didn't do a good job concealing it on his face. To her credit, Saber said nothing. [break][break] The forest they trekked through for some time looked exactly like every other stretch of damned forest that Kaisei had already walked through, though Saber tried her best to keep them on track by making extensive X marks on the trees they passed by, and by leaving big footprints to mark their passage. Kaisei, for his part, was furiously tapping away at his smartphone - surely the map app would tell them how to make it to the nearest city - and consistently getting a NO SIGNAL response. Each time he swore under his breath, it was drowned out by Saber. [break][break] Dammit, Saber, if only you'd stop screaming, maybe I'd be able to think straight. Every so often Saber would throw her head back and let out another call. Something between a trill and a yell, he'd never heard Saber actually raise her voice before - it was almost like hearing her Perish Song, but more insistent instead of melancholy. He wondered what she was saying. Maybe then it wouldn't be so annoying. [break][break] <Attention, I am seeking a human named Siddy! If you can hear me, please come retrieve your lost and distressed Cleffa!> [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv9, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Honedge (Sting, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Fomantis (Kusanagi, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Swablu (Murakumo, Lv5, 5/5 Energy) [break][break] Notes: 339 WC[break]
A call, a voice, caught Angel’s ears. Stopping dead in her track and looking sideways, she stared off into the brush trying to better hear it. “Angel?” Sid too had stopped upon finding that their Espeon had frozen in place. She looked back at them with a knowing look and then made a sudden run in the direction of the sound. Sid didn’t waste any time following her, and the sounds of the brush alive with their motion would signal their approach.
Cupid, meanwhile, gave his own call, a quieter but still forceful: <SIDDDDDDDYYYYY> now and again. It was harder with smaller vocals. Still, as a sound caught his ears, he’d turn to the brush and be just in time to see Angel first and then Sid come out of it, the latter looking significantly more worn. Angel froze momentarily again on finding a huge Absol there. Staring a moment, she looked back at Sid who was just tall enough to get a better line of sight.
On seeing a familiar cute star piece up on the back of the Absol, Sid felt their eyes water. “CUPID!” And that was it as they quickly came towards them, disregarding the threat of a massive Absol right there. Cupid, meanwhile, squeaked and flung his arms about on seeing Sid. There was a second of hesitation before he leapt straight off the back of Saber and went falling into Sid’s arms. The latter hugged him tight and gave a dramatic spin around. “Oh my gosh are you ok? You must have been so scared. I’m so glad you’re safe; thank goodness….” Cupid was too busy burrowing into Sid to really say much back.
The grass was rustling, fast and loud. Kaisei turned his head to see an Espeon run up but come to a dead stop at the sight of Saber. It seemed she did have that effect on people and Pokemon alike. Following close behind the Espeon, and presumably its trainer, was a guy about Kaisei's age with long white hair. What he didn't expect, however, was the Cleffa's exuberant response upon the newcomers. Jumping, crying, spinning around-- [break][break] "HEY! You're not a rich middle-aged lady!" [break][break] Damn, he had come across as...more accusatory than he had intended. "I mean, uh. Not that there's anything wrong with a guy liking cute fairy Pokemon or anything..." After all, if he, Kaisei Nebula, had a cute fairy Pokemon, and it was no slight on his masculinity, then certainly there was nothing wrong with this other guy owning a Cleffa. He forced a smile and a laugh to defuse the situation. [break][break] "So, you're the one we've been looking for! Yes, Saber here and I were the ones keeping your Cleffa safe and sound until you found him," he said, gesturing to his Absol. She tilted her head and raised an eyebrow at Kaisei, as if questioning his contribution to the Cleffa's welfare. He ignored her and continued, "But now that you're here, everything is great! The truth is, me and Saber--we kinda got a little, how would you say, lost. But now, we can consider ourselves found! You can point us the way back to civilization, right?" The smile was genuine and hopeful this time. He wouldn't even demand a reward. Just being able to get out of this damn forest would be good enough. [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv9, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Honedge (Sting, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Fomantis (Kusanagi, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Swablu (Murakumo, Lv5, 5/5 Energy) [break][break] Notes: 281 WC[break]
“Huh???” So caught up in their reunion was Sid that they didn’t fully register the existence of a human until he had shouted. Turning to look at him as he backpaddled his statement, Sid raised an eyebrow and smiled a little weaker. “Well… I am not a rich middle-aged lady… but I’m not a guy either,” they answered.
Softness returned to Sid’s features again as the conversation went on, and a small nod was given at the man’s words. “Thank you… thank you both so much…” their eyes flicked from the other human and raised up to the Absol. Cupid, meanwhile, very briefly glanced back to Saber and gave his own thanks for finding Siddy.
At the follow up, however, they glanced sideways. “Angie should be able to lead us out,” they explained. The Espeon had unfrozen just a bit, blinked, and shook out her fur again. “She can sense air currents and … there should be enough flowng through the area?” The Espeon looked back at her trainer and gave a small nod and a soft call. She was pretty sure she could do it, yeah. Sid smiled down at her again before looking up at Kaisei.
“My name is Sidney, Sid for short,” they spoke. “Oh valiant knight of my dearest Cupid, allow me us to help you out of these troubling forests.”
"Saber, you hear that? We're saved!" Kaisei grinned upon hearing that the Espeon would be able to lead them out. The Absol nodded in agreement. Then the other human kept talking, and introduced themself as Sidney, and... what was all that about a valiant knight and a cupid and... Shit. Shit. No! There had to be some mistake. Kaisei's entire life, he had been the farthest thing from valiant. But Saber, having taken the compliment upon herself, had already bent one of her forelegs and swept her head low in a bow, and Kaisei realized to his despair that if he didn't want to be abruptly ditched -- either by Saber or by Sidney or both of them -- the best thing for him to do was play along. [break][break] So he lowered his head in a Johto-style bow, similarly to how he'd done at the start of a Gym Battle, back when he was still doing the Challenge. "The pleasure is all ours, Sidn..." No, that didn't quite sound knightly enough. Didn't everyone in those old TV shows use titles? But Sid was not a guy... or a lady. So not a sir or a ma'am. "Sid-dono," he settled on, pulling out the archaic Kantonese expression and adding a dramatic flair to his voice. "My name is Kaisei Nebula, and this is Saber, my trusty partner." [break][break] As they turned to move onward, Kaisei felt a sharp jab in his leg. He turned to glare at Saber, who pretended like she hadn't noticed anything. [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv9, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Honedge (Sting, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Fomantis (Kusanagi, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Swablu (Murakumo, Lv5, 5/5 Energy) [break][break] Notes: 253 WC[break]
Soft color touched Sid’s features as the massive Absol gave a deep bow. What an incredible creature… absolutely marvelous. A goddess of her kind… Taking a step back, they dropped into an even deeper bow, knee nearly touching the ground. Cupid giggled softly looking from Siddy to Saber and back again.
And then Kaisei spoke. Sid looked up, eyes alight with stars. Immediately, they stood. Hands clasped a little tighter on Cupid. Sid-dono had such a nice ring to it, and the old timey honorific was just so nice and AAAAAA his voice along with it. He could be an anime character. A Kenshin type even— Maybe they were getting ahead of themselves but STILL. AAAAAA.
Oh wait oh wait oh wait?? Saber?? Sid’s eyes flashed from Saber to Kaisei and back again. Was he perhaps a— Actually, yes he kind of had that aesthetic actually! “Sugoi! A sea star of stars I see, I see…” they set their hand on their chin and nodded a couple of times. Their thoughts were cut off when Angel let out a soft trill, and suddenly they were turning to address her again. “Ah sorry Angie, we’re coming!” And they too walked. “Saber! Are you perhaps the king of kings?” they chattered on to the Absol in the meantime.
Perhaps he was laying on the act a little thick, because Sid seemed to be even more into it than Kaisei himself was. Not only were they bowing, but they also called Kaisei a star of stars. He wondered if they had perhaps met Eri Novae. Possibly they got it from her? He was about to suggest it, maybe ask if they were also from the Johto region (having deduced that they at least spoke Kantonese from the casual sugoi), when he heard them ask if Saber was a king. It was too much. He busted out into laughter. [break][break] "Wait, wait, this is perfect--" Kaisei stopped walking and bent down to dig around in his backpack until he found the King's Rock he had dug up in the mines. "Mighty ō-sama! I present your crown!" he said, this time fully in Kantonese, as he dramatically held out the rock toward Saber, whose face was twisted in an expression of both bewilderment and contempt. [break][break] She suddenly let out a growl and slammed her leg into his side, knocking him to the ground. He saw a glob of acid go flying by right near where his head had been. Had she Detected an attack? But from where? [break][break] The answer was made clear when both an Oddish and a Chingling burst through the trees, the Chingling not attacking but floating through the air, dodging this way and that to avoid the Oddish's frantic attacks. "Hey! Asshole!" Kaisei yelled, pulling himself to his feet. Saber was ready to leap forward, but he held out an arm to keep her back - he had a better strategy for this fight. If the opponent was attacking with acid, the perfect counter would be a Pokemon completely immune to it: a Steel-type. [break][break] "Why don't you pick on someone your own size?" he said, releasing a Pokeball into the air, from which emerged a Honedge. It was tiny. Closer to a long knife than a sword. Kaisei blinked, assessed the relative sizes of the two Pokemon. Yeah, that sounded way cooler when I said it in my head. [break][break] Sting, completely unbothered by all of this, slashed around in the air dramatically as he was finally realizing the chance to do battle with worthy foes. "Forget about the Chingling. The Oddish is our target!" Kaisei said, pointing, at which point Sting took the opportunity to wrap his tassel - tightly - around Kaisei's wrist. He pointed his tip forward, then started to move - dragging Kaisei along with him, the man realized too late, as he stumbled forward. Well. We're doing this? We are seriously doing this. He wrapped his hand around the hilt of the Honedge. "Fury Cutter!" [break][break] Sting moved on his own volition, swiping downward and dragging Kaisei's arm along with him in a chopping motion that made a satisfying thwack against the Oddish's head of leaves. "Oddish odd ODD!" it screamed back, releasing another glob of acid from its leaves. [break][break] "Fury Cutter!" Kaisei's arm was violently jerked upward as the Honedge intercepted the attack, harmlessly dissipating it in the air. [break][break] "Fury Cutter!" Sting executed a diagonal cut across the Oddish's face, then a second cut in the other direction, forming an X. [break][break] The Oddish, battered and bruised, released a golden powder from its leaves - a Stun Spore! Kaisei squeezed his eyes shut and wrapped an arm around his mouth, power-walking backward away from the powder. Sting, however, was not so lucky. The Honedge was dusted full-on, uncurling from his trainer and falling to the ground. The Oddish stepped forward, glaring at its supine opponent. However, it could not actually inflict any damage, it discovered, even with its Poison Powder, Acid, and Sweet Scent. Which gave Kaisei time to formulate a plan. [break][break] He retrieved a Pinap Berry from his bag, and threw it at the Oddish, where it landed some distance away from Sting. The Oddish immediately ran for it and took a bite, finding the flavor quite appealing! It began to eat noisily, letting Kaisei run over and scoop up his Honedge. It wobbled in the air, vibrating in a weak expression of joy. [break][break] "Tackle attack," Kaisei said, and threw. [break][break] Sting bonked the Oddish in the back of the head, just as it had finished eating, and both Pokemon lay unmoving on the ground. [break][break] "Now that that's over--agh!" The trainer grimaced and clutched at his wrist. Where the Honedge had wrapped around it, there was not pain, but instead a crippling numbness, as if the vitality had been drained out of it. "I'm fine! I'm fine," he said, turning to regard the Absol who had rushed over to his side, her eyes full of worry. "I'm just, not used to this... sword fighting... that is, when I'm hungry!" He immediately reached into his bag for another packet of snacks, ignoring the odd feeling in his arm. In the meantime, he wondered how Sid, their Pokemon, and the Chingling were doing. [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv9, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Honedge (Sting, Lv10>Lv12, 5/5>4/5 Energy), Fomantis (Kusanagi, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Swablu (Murakumo, Lv5, 5/5 Energy) [break][break] Notes: 825 bloody words of shonen battle scene[break] 1 Pinap Berry used.
Soft embarrassment touched Sid’s features as Kaisei burst out laughing. Red eyes flicked to him, and a soft frown pulled onto their features. Before they had a chance to say anything, however, Kaisei was moving. Oh… heh… ah… He was laughing because he had had an idea, alright then. The soft touch of Cupid had them glancing down again briefly. “Sorry…” they realized too late they’d been squeezing him a little.
They jerked up again, however, when Saber moved. “Wha—“ Their eyes flashed in the opposite direction and found the Chingling and the Oddish there. Oh poor baby. “Ang—“ Sid glanced sideways as Kaisei spoke up. The minute he spoke and released a tiny Honedge, however, they had to slap a hand over their mouth to keep from laughing. Oh no. Oh gosh. Oh, it was so small. And he was wielding it??? “Ahhhh, look at that…” Sid breathed grinning a little wildly. “Truly a knight among the round.” Angel made a noise and pulled their focus back, however. Oh, the Chingling.
The Chingling was shaking a little, and the soft bell chimed of its own accord. “Easy there…” Sid spoke softly as they bent down to it, letting Cupid down from their arms with a particular look. If he ran off again, they would be very angry. But he wouldn’t. Not now that he had them back. Angel, meanwhile, stepped forward and started speaking to the Chingling in a soft cat-chittering tone. The Chingling jingled back. Shifting their bag down, Sid started digging into it before producing a berry of their own: a Magost berry. “Here, this will make you feel a little better…” they spoke. It would also distract the Chingling and allow them to better assess it… but they were not lying either.
It seemed the Chingling wasn’t too hurt, though. Good. A soft sigh of relief escaped from Sid. What a cute baby…. Slowly they shifted grasping a Pokeball and holding it forward. “Would you like to maybe come with me?” they asked. Cupid was quick to chime in all good things they knew about Siddy off the top of their head if that would help any!

What the fuck was wrong with his arm? [break][break] It didn't look any different. When he felt it with his other hand, it felt normal. But deep down inside, it felt, a sensation deeper than anything he could describe with his five senses, it felt wrong. [break][break] He mechanically shoved the last of the snack pack into his mouth, then discarded the empty wrapper onto the ground. Saber stepped over and grunted in his direction, motioning him to pick it up. Why should he? He didn't care about leaving litter, let the Rangers deal with it, it's what they were good for after all. However, it caused him to catch sight of the King's Rock which still lay on the ground, and that was something important not to leave behind. He bent down and reached for it, his fingers trembling as they brushed against the rough surface of the carved stone. Sucking in a deep breath, he gripped the rock tightly and dropped it into his backpack. He zipped up the backpack with his left hand. [break][break] Saber was back to bothering him, her nose softly nudging against his wrong wrist. "What are you doing? I'm fine." [break][break] Sting was still lying on the ground next to the Oddish, and Kaisei recalled the Honedge into his Pokeball, not willing to exert himself to walk over and get closer to the sword Pokemon if he could help it. Looking over to Sidney, he noticed the youth was holding a Pokeball as well. "So you captured the Chingling?" he surmised. "Nice job. I'm ready to get going whenever you are." [break][break] <He is not. He is being stupid,> Saber snapped in Pokespeech to anyone who could understand. <Please... help me keep an eye on him.> [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv9, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Honedge (Sting, Lv12, 4/5 Energy), Fomantis (Kusanagi, Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Swablu (Murakumo, Lv5, 5/5 Energy) [break][break] Notes: 288 WC

Yeah, no, anything was better than being harassed in the wild. The Chingling wasted no time pressing his little face into the Pokeball and disappearing in a shine of red light. In only a second, it dinged in capture. A soft breath escaped from Sid then as they watched the ball shine and then teleport off to their PC.
Their attention then shifted back towards Kaisei who had just finished defeating the Oddish. Well…. At least wild Pokemon tended to heal on their own well enough but… “Are you alright?” Sid had accidentally whispered it. Kaisei was touching his other hand oddly. Angel trilled. Sid turned and slowly stood up again. She sensed something wrong too. The way he moved was….
Sid’s eyes cascaded sideways to the Honedge. They were aware of the lore surrounding the weapon but …. Did it actually drain him? Its own trainer? It snapped back again as the sword was recalled and Kaisei started talking. Sid turned and started over to him a bit slower now. Angel trilled again agreeing with Saber in this case. She sensed something wrong too. Even the air pattern of the human’s breath was wrong….
“You don’t look so good,” Sid spoke shifting to look over Kaisei carefully. “We should probably take a rest actually.” A hand reached up only to pause a few inches from Kaisei’s forehead. Sid was not one to touch people. But they were worried, and as a nurse, they had the means to heal if necessary.
This wasn't working. First Saber was acting all... concerned, and now Sid too? The youth had raised their hand up to Kaisei's forehead as if they were trying to check for a fever or something. Kaisei instinctively raised his own hand, intending to brush them off, when-- There it was again. A sharp pain in his shoulder - from having his arm swung around by Sting, no doubt - that traveled all the way down his arm and reactivated the numbing sensation in his wrist. His arm dropped, slumping down against his side. Admit nothing. He forced a smile. "I'm fine, really. But if-- If you want to take a rest, Sid, then Saber and I are totally okay with that." He walked away before Sidney could say another word. [break][break] Dumbass! You forgot the -dono! he was thinking as he walked up to a broad tree, leaning against it before settling himself into a sitting position. Glaring, he purposefully turned his head away from his arm. Don't look at it. Don't touch it. Don't think about it at all. Dammit, you fool, your act is falling apart, they're going to know, or at least they suspect, and if you don't keep it together they'll-- He didn't want to finish that thought. Like Mother always said, the weak get taken advantage of. So don't you dare be weak. [break][break] He could sense Saber, standing at the corner of his vision. Let her go ahead and judge him like she always did. He didn't care anymore. [break][break] The Absol sighed. She couldn't help him like this, not when he was refusing to tell her anything was wrong with him at all. If he couldn't trust her on this-- [break][break] If he couldn't trust her at all-- [break][break] --well, what good of a knight was she? Sid bit the hem of their lower lip. The way Kaisei had raised his arm and then dropped it looked… painful? Somehow? I’m not just reading into this… They’d had some training as a human nurse as well as a Pokemon one, and something was wrong here. As the words were redirected, though, Sid’s frown turned into something closer to a deadpan. Well… they supposed… “Alright…” As if he weren’t already walking away.
Briefly Sid looked back at Angel who gave them a small shake of head back. She’d found herself with Cupid across her back, and the Cleffa was already enough for her nerves. “Looks like we won’t be separated again,” Sid laughed softly at that. Angel sighed a bit. She could only hope that they didn’t have to go chasing babies through the woods again. As Sid started over to the tree, she followed right along after.
…..Kaisei was making this a little too obvious wasn’t he? Sid glanced at Saber and then pretended to walk towards the other side of the tree— only to round it quietly and come to the side Kaisei wasn’t looking at. Carefully, their hand raised to pull up his sleeve.
