Personality Julia is a happy-go-lucky, adventurous girl with an optimistic streak that defies her childhood hardship. She’s the kind of person to look for a silver lining in any situation, and if there’s not an immediately obvious one, she’ll be the first one to say that everything’s going to be okay one way or another. However, she has a bad habit of bottling up her negative emotions to facilitate her optimism; she’ll avoid talking about unpleasant situations, especially personal ones, at just about any cost, including lying and brushing the situation off with a smile and a laugh. If things get too serious, she’ll try to disengage from the situation to avoid dealing with her negative emotions. Julia struggles to stay still and focused, often bouncing from one thing to another based on what seems fun or novel, but when she does focus, she shows a stubborn side (though she prefers to call it “determined”) that refuses to give up. That stubbornness also extends to asking for help; after being coddled for her disability for so long, she’s become almost obsessed with proving her independence and capabilities. She hates it when others try to butt in without her asking, and though at first, she’ll laugh it off and say it’s okay, it’s difficult for her to hold back her anger if someone keeps insisting that she needs help. Julia is an outgoing extravert who loves meeting new people and Pokémon, a trait that was amplified by the loneliness born after the accident that took her leg and the subsequent recovery she had to undergo. She wants to expand her friend circle as much as possible to make up for lost time but doesn’t realize that that means dividing her time, attention, and memory between more and more people. Her short attention span probably won’t help with that. Julia wears her prosthetic leg with pride, even decorating it with cool covers, but that doesn’t stop her from missing her old leg and wishing the accident that took it had never happened. She still has occasional nightmares of and flashbacks to the event, she’s still claustrophobic, and she outright refuses to go into caves now (though she’ll always just claim “caves are boring” instead of actually admitting to her fears). History Julia was born in Pine Town to a breeder mother and a miner father. She was always an active child who ran around outside, played sports, and explored her town as much as possible. Her parents allowed this behavior as long as she was willing to listen to their safety lectures… but that wasn’t enough to prepare her for what happened when the Ultra Beasts attacked. On that fateful day, Julia was exploring an abandoned mineshaft with the Pokémon her parents had given her for her 10th birthday. She didn’t see the portals open up in the sky above the capital, but she felt a quake caused by the Ultra Beasts’ assault—or perhaps it was the stirring of the Legendary Pokémon. Either way, the cave began to collapse around her. She and her Pokémon ran for it, but in her panic, Julia tripped, causing her left leg to get caught under a rockslide. Fortunately, the quake stopped before any further damage could be done, but Julia was still trapped and afraid. Her Pokémon tried to help her but was unable to get her out, so it hurried outside to get help. All the chaos of the Ultra Beast attack meant that it took a while for help to arrive, and while Julia was safely rescued by the Pokémon Rangers, her leg had been too badly damaged to save and had to be amputated below the knee. The accident, her devastating injury, and the resulting isolation while she was in the hospital sent Julia into a depression (though these days, she’d just call it a “slump”). She was scared that she’d never be able to walk, let alone run or play, again, scared that she’d forever be without one of her legs, scared that she’d never be able to forget the pain and terror she’d felt that day… but her hope was rekindled with talks of getting a prosthetic leg. Her doctor assured her that she’d be able to do everything she used to with a bit of practice and patience, and he even told her about advances in medical technology that allowed for prosthetic limbs with full ranges of motion and control, though it might be a few years before Julia could get something that sophisticated. With that reassurance and encouragement from her friends, family, and Pokémon, Julia was able to push down those negative feelings and look forward to her future. It wasn’t smooth sailing, though. It took several months for her leg to have healed enough for her to be fitted for a prosthesis, and an impatient Julia had to be convinced that she couldn’t do physical rehab or exercise 24/7 to get better faster. When she did finally get her new leg, she kept trying to push herself too far before she’d learned to walk properly with it; her parents, especially her dad, started keeping a close eye on her to make sure she paced herself. After a cut on her stump made her unable to practice with her prosthesis for a week, she started taking better care of her residual limb since taking the time to do that was a better option that not being able to do anything but be stuck with her thoughts. All throughout this, Julia kept the Rangers who had saved her in mind. She hatched a plan: become a Pokémon Trainer at 13, travel the region, earn all the badges, maybe win the Pokémon League, and then join the Rangers with her super-powerful team when she turned 16. But her parents said no, afraid that Julia wouldn’t be able to take care of herself with one artificial leg. A determined Julia kept asking and trying to prove that she’d be fine on her own, but even though her mom seemed to be coming around to the idea, her much more assertive father refused to let his only child throw herself into danger like that. Julia watched as her friends all went on their own Pokémon journeys, leaving her behind. When the family saved up enough for Julia to get a top-of-the-line leg, Julia was sure her dad would change his mind about her capabilities, but he still refused to budge. Finally sick of being coddled and denied her ambitions, Julia snuck off with her Pokémon in the middle of the night, leaving behind only a note on the kitchen table. Goals Julia may not be the best at planning ahead, but she knows one thing for sure: She wants to become a fully fledged Pokémon Ranger so she can help others (and prove that she can).

Julia is an olive-skinned teenage girl with an athletic build and a general style of dress to match: She prefers practical, sporty clothing that allows her to move around easily, including tank tops, T-shirts, gym or basketball shorts, and tennis shoes, though she'll occasionally wear jeans, capris, etc. when she's not geared up to run or play. Her favorite color is red, so she usually puts at least a little of that into her outfits. Her left leg is replaced with a high-end prosthesis below the knee, and said prosthesis is usually adorned with a black cover with red flames painted on it. Aura Julia's aura is usually like a blazing flame around her down to its dominant colors of red, orange, and yellow, all intermingling to represent the different parts of her personality. However, a keen eye might notice the black streaks that occasionally go through it. When she's feeling down, her aura dims and grows darker, but her efforts to appear fine cause it to pulse with its usual brightness, albeit with more black streaks flicking across it.
