Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
The evening was supposed to go much, much differently than how it was. Adelaide had confessed to her sister how horribly she was coping in Arciel and Tawny, like a literal god directed her to a whole bunch of websites about therapy in Arciel, hell the girl even offered to pay for her first session- which Adelaide refused countless times. The sisters through a video call had bounced around countless options, quickly wiping female therpaists from the table since they both knew Adelaide wouldn't be able to get a word out and were able to find a rather respected on in Ash- a little out from where Adelaide currently lived but... it was for her to be able to properly achieve her dream to get better even!
Adelaide didn't know what it was like to live without being terrified of even the smallest things, to overthink, over analyse, to be clouded by jealousy. She didnt know... which is what led her to right now. Surely she was an hour late for her appointment, Adelaide had stopped counting. The trip through different routes was going fine, it was simple, it was easy. She was able to sprint past battles and no trainers dared to get close to the absolute beasts that were her Huge Delphox, Bayleef and Archen. The three towered over the teen, often shadowing her from others views completely- and perhaps that's why a trainer along the route thought it'd be a good idea to try and initiate a battle. Adelaide had let her guard down and she hadn't been prepared- she wasn't good at battle- and...
The trainer's pokemon had landed a hit square on Zinnia, her Archen and she'd fallen right out of the sky, landing in a heap next to Adelaide. She got back up straight away but the damage was done. Adelaide had broke into unstoppable tears and it was only then the trainer realised these pokemon had an owner, who... refused to stop crying. They'd tried to comfort Adelaide only to be chased away by a flame charge from Adelaide's Delphox.
Adelaide had moved to the side of the path then, and had began looking over Archen for injuries the pokemon huffing and squawking at her attempting to assure her she was alright countless times- but Adelaide didn't buy it. This was her fault- she got her pokemon hurt. And... and... she couldn't do this. Primrose had moved to the side of the path too, settling herself next to Adelaide and ever so often nuzzling her large head into the girls side in an attempt to calm her- but not even the Bayleef could ease her worries. Her Delphox stood on the path, Lathyrus keen to keep people away so they didn't make the girl even worse.
Countless apologies spewed from her lips over and over as she searched for an injury. She didn't have any HP raising items... she hadn't brought berries... she'd been focusing on herself and her appointment and now Zinnia was hurting and it was all her fault! At some point she'd began shaking, not even able to properly comb through Zinnia's feathers and the prehistoric bird had drawn her in closely with her wing squawking gently at her. They'd stay with her then, on the path as long as neccesary.
And unfortunately for Adelaide in her sudden breakdown over her pokemons health she'd forgotten all about her appointment a town away.

Atticus didn’t make it a habit of chasing down patients. He did his best to be there for them when they needed him, but no-shows tended to earn a small shrug and a passive sigh. He couldn’t force people to come to therapy. That had to be the patient’s responsibility. And normally, that would have remained the case. However, this particular patient was the last of the day… and more importantly, her sister had called.
Her sister had wanted to make sure that she’d gotten in ok and that everything had gone fine, but when Atty admitted that he had not seen her in that day, she’d practically begged him to try and find her. And Arceus be damned if she hadn’t ripped a few heart strings in her pull on them. Atty had sighed, agreed, and started out of Ash. Adelaide should have come through the Weeping Forest from Atty’s understanding, so if anything, that’s where she’d be. Probably, maybe. Hopefully.
“You sense anything, Pir?” Atty asked for the nth time since they had entered the Weeping Forest. The tiny Kirlia gave a small cry back. She wasn’t sure. Her range was still small, and her vision wasn’t as defined as she would like. Still, she was better than nothing. “Top?” Topaz gave a small bark back. Nothing on her end either. If she knew what the girl smelled like, this might have been easier.
They moved on a ways, and Pirouette would pick up on something then. A small cry escaped form her, and she was quick to Teleport in that direction. Sure enough, she caught sight of a human and her Pokemon! She cried again! Over this way Topaz! The Lycanroc howled and started in that direction— pulling Atty along with her harness. As they came through to the side of the road where Adealaide was, Atty took in the sounds of … worry. “Are you alright, Miss?” he asked trusting Pirouette hadn’t led him to an obvious other gender.
Zinnia didn't know what to do. The Archen had tried all she could to assure her trainer that she was fine- she was a strong bird and could handle more than a tiny drop from the sky! But Adelaide had only curled into herself, knees pressing into her chest and arms crapping right around to imitate some form of comfort. Her whole body shook and she tried her hardest to muffle the sound of sobs- breathing, breathing- she'd been through this with Tawny! In five, out... out.... out what!? What was the number?! What if she got the number wrong and suffocated- Adelaide didn't want to suffocate! The thought along had her whimpering slightly.
Primrose seemed to curl her own large form closer to Adelaide's, a gentle coo leaving her to remind the girl that she was here. Lathyrus was standing watch, towering over those who passed and attempting to usher them along or scary off wild pokemon before they could further distress the crying girl. This had only happened a few times, and with nobody here the only thing the pokemon knew how to do was to try and make things easier on the brunette. The Delphox saw a trainer with his pokemon approaching and assuming the worst narrowed his gaze in an attempt to appear more intimidating to draw them away and was... fairly confused as to why his attempt hardly seemed to work.
A huff left him and he was more than willing to attempt to... uh... he hadn't thought this far ahead. He could chase! Yes! Just as he was about to start directing them away from Adelaide Primrose, who'd been warily watching the whole thing let out a hum, drawing his attention back to her where for a moment the two pokemon seemed to chitter back and forth, a brief conversation about the humans intent being passed. And at his question for a brief moment the Delphox stood down, staring at his harnessed pokemon back to him... hmm...
The question seemed to spook Adelaide, who's sobs became momentarily strangled as she brought her head up slightly to see where the words were coming from- a man... with... a harnessed pokemon- and- and she was making people worry- people trying to carry on with their day and she was being a nuisance, on top of everything else. Her breath shuttered slightly and Archen attempted to sooth a wing over her, Prim butting her head once more into Adelaide's side to quell her sudden noise, not knowing what brought it on. Her mouth opened attempting to make... a sound, and only a, "...P-Please- don't worry- s-sorry- i'm- g-go about your day- t-this- i-is-" Her voice shook and broke into another chorus of sobs and she pushed her forearm over her mouth. It took a few seconds for her to battle down her cries and once she was sure she wasn't going to make any outward noise other than her broken sobs she followed up with, "...m-my... my pokemon- s-she's... she's- s-she's really... really hurt and- a-and- I can't- I- i-i'm an awful trainer a-and- and e-everybodies- they're all- they're going to k-know a-and then- and- and then-" Her resolve broke once more and the girl curled back within herself, head pushing straight into her kneecaps.
Then they'd take it to the magazines, to the news, and Dia would be right. They'd torment her call her names, ruin her- she wouldn't be able to walk around without a camera all because they thought she was a negligent pokemon owner- or-o r maybe they'd thing she'd abused Zinnia?! The thought made her shake- and- and this an was a witness- he... he didn't... look like he could see but...
Zinnia squawked, a slight hint of annoyance to her tone. She was fine! But of course, Adelaide had worked herself up and refused to listen.

Topaz’s ears set back on her head as she met the gaze of the massive Delphox. She was large for her species, but he made her feel small by comparison. If he did anything, though, she was sure she could react faster. Pirouette, meanwhile, was looking for a way around a skirmish. <H-hi there!> she greeted with a small forced smile. It fell as she listened to the two Pokemon argue right after. O-oh. W-well, she’d defend Atty with everything she had if needed! Uh… uh….
Atticus was aware of the noise. He was also aware of the way that Pir was standing on hi that she as nervous. Topaz hadn’t pulled him away, though, and he trusted her judgment on the matter. Instead, he waited and listened. Those sounds were familiar enough to him. Someone had been crying. As the girl spoke, Atticus frowned. He couldn’t actually see the Pokemon in question, but that wasn’t what was interesting anyways. An awful trainer and everyone would know and then what? Kids these days….
“Easy kiddo, I’ve got a potion or two in Top’s bag,” he stated shifting a moment to feel for the zipper of Topaz’s harness. Unzipping it, he produced the familiar Pokemon spray. “Pokemon are tough creatures…. it’s why we let even ten year olds run around with ‘em….” She didn’t sound ten. “How’d she get hurt?”
Adelaide had expected the man to leave, she was already such a nuisance and it wasn't worth his time really sticking around if he had somewhere to go, yet instead he was... offered a potion... from... Top's bag? A shallow breath left her and she brought her head back from her knees a soft, "T-Top...?" leaving her, more of a question than anything. Did... his top have a name? Or- or was that too rude to enquire about?! It was a pokemon name- wasn't it?? Or- or maybe he had named his bag?! Adelaide didn't wanna be rude in assuming at all.
As the spray made it's appearance Adelaide could only stare at the small bottle for a few moments eyes stinging and some-what blurry. "I d-don't... h-have money on me to pay you back f-for that, sir- a-and I don't wanna b-be rude and take it b-because what if- what i-if one of your pokemon gets hurt and I take that opportunity o-of healing them from you w-when they really need it- a-and then- then you could tell people o-oh I gave it t-to this girl and then t-they'd s-see the girl a-as... a-as awful!" And it had begun. Adelaide's stutter-filled rambled that made minimal logical sense. She sniffed again, and Archen let out a squeak, nudgingher forward ever so slightly with her beak..
Right- right- okay. Adelaide could only creep forward ever so slightly on her knees until she was able to grab the bottle, hand shaking wildly, and then quickly falling back onto the floor and returning to Archen's side almost like a wary, protective mum. It took her a few seconds but she managed out a, "T-Thank.... t-thank you...." Knowing that if she was seen as rude he'd probably stay and have a go at her for forgetting her manners, especially when a spray was offered. As the man spoke more Adelaide just let out a soft whimper, head shaking a few times. "B-But- b-but- but I don't- they shouldn't b-be hurt...." Was the only thing she could manage out.
She went back to searching for Archen's wound, barely able to compose herself for a moment as she pushed through the thin feathers. Surprisingly, the man stayed and... and he was asking questions. Adelaide hiccuped and mumbled, "A t-trainer... a-attacked her t-thinking she d-didn't have a trainer- s-shot her... r-right out of the sky... a-and- and now- t-the suns already gone I.... I... I w-won't be able to get to A-Ash- a-and- Tawny'll be s-so upset- a-and- and then b-both sisters will hate me a-and-and- and-" Adelaide gave up finding a wound and just sprayed the potion at Zinnia, hoping for the best while she broke into another set of wild sobs and gasps.
Atticus blinked as the girl explained she had no money to pay him back for it, nor did she want to take it from one of his Pokemon. What a soft kid… yeash… A soft kid with a lot of public fear from the sounds of it. Hadn’t that girl who’d been booked for his last appointment supposedly struggled with that? Or was he getting is appointments mixed up. Ah well.
“If one of my Pokemon gets hurt, I have another… a few actually,” Atty answered shifting the potion into one of his hands and fishing out two more. A pause. “As for paying me back, don’t worry about it. We as a society determined that taking care of Pokemon is important. It’s why Pokemon centers are free. It’s ok to accept help.”
He could hear her moving and stood in place in turn, the potion in his hand waiting. As it was taken, Atty let his hand fall to the side again and put the others away. Even not looking at her, he could feel Topaz staring at him. On his shoulder, Pirou was humming softly to herself now.
Ah, a trainer had gotten to gung-ho and attacked. Atty slowly nodded at that. Right after, though, she mentioned going to Ash and then spoke… that girl’s name. Ah… what are the odds… So this was his patient after all. Well, it wasn't like he hadn't set out there to look for her or anything. “Top, help me over…” Atticus spoke. The Lycanroc slowly stepped forward leading her trainer right up to the girl.
Taking a knee in front of her, Atty half smiled. “If you want, I can walk you the rest of the way to Ash City.” he stated reaching up and pressing a finger to the corner of his shades. “I live there actually, and I know these woods well. Does that sound alright?” His voice remained calm but had a few soft inflections here and there. He was giving her options, not making demands.
It's okay to accept help- yeah. Something her sister's told her, except she says that as she buys her like twelve separate contest outfits to ship to her without telling her of the cost and shipping it back if Adelaide even attempts to return it... But he had a point, maybe if she had money she could find the guy again and give it to him. Or- or she could replace his potion! Yeah, that... that sounded like a plan, probably. Zinnia seemed better now, just chirping at her after the spray was sprayed and a sigh left the girls lips, followed soon after by another hiccuped sob. It was okay- Zinnia was okay...
Had reporters seen her?! What if they got a picture of her on the side of the path in tears?? Her weakness would be everywhere and people would look down on Adelaide Gladstone, they'd boo at her performances (not that she's had the courage to even take part in a contest) and they'd compare her to Dia again. Dia Dia Dia.
The man was moving and her gaze once more settled on him, he had... a pokemon in a harness which usually meant some form of disability, Adelaide didn't wanna assume what,, and she could only hiccup as he was lead over and bent down on a knee... he... could walk her the rest of the way to Ash?! Really?? Eyes widened slightly and she sniffled, even if he lived there... "B-But... b-but... you were going..." A pause, and she brought her hands out infront of her, forming two L's... uhhh... 'Yeah- R-Right, towards- uh- r-route 7, right? I... I w-wouldn't wanna... u-uhm... uh... be o-of any t-trouble..."
A pause, then a sharp intake of breathe- oh! Oh was that rude?! That was rude- he just wanted to help- oh she was going to be hated all because of what she'd said, and, and if she'd assumed he was going to route 7 when he wasn't actually then... then... then she was just- like- awful?! The girl began shaking and managed out, "B-But if you're offering I d-d-d-don't wanna be rude, mister- I... uhm... I j-just don't w-wan't them to get hurt a-anymore- e-even if they're r-r-really big- a-and- a-and..." Was she making sense?? Probably not. "S-S-Sorry... I'm... s-surprised I haven't fainted- b-but- I.... I w-wouldn't be any trouble?"

Good Arceus, the girl before him was the exact Type Atticus would have picked on in school so many many years ago. He’d grown up, of course, but finding such a familiar achitype was almost nostalgic in a way. “Ah, no, actually,” he answered her words softly. He didn’t plan to go as far as Route 7. Then getting back would be that much more annoying.
Meanwhile, Topaz and Pirouette were taking in all the details that Atticus couldn’t. They could see her shaking and could read her senses better than Atty could then. A low noise escaped from Topaz, giving Atty a better idea of what was up. It was good… considering what had come next. Ah, another patient worried their existence in the world was more of a burden than anything. Atticus allowed his features to fall into something a bit more neutral. “My name’s Atticus, Atticus Evans,” he answered. “I was out for a stroll, actually.” He smiled a little. “So it’s no trouble, promise.”
He... wasn't going to route 7? At all? On a walk then?? Adelaide simply stared at the man, momentarily confused and sorta attempting to calm down her sobs. The guy wasn't assaulting her with questions which is a way was comforting, but... the very thought alone of being scrutinized by this man very nearly caused Adelaide to overthink every little thing she did again.
Somehow his name was familiar but at that moment it didn't occur to her that that was the name of the therapist her sister booked, fighting back another sniffle she managed out, "....A-Adelaide..." as an introduction. He was smiling and insistent on helping her and she brought a hand through her hair as a way to calm herself down. "I-If... If it's no worries.... t-then..." Her voice trailed off as she glanced to her pokemon. Primrose seemed to be attempting to get herself back up, form towering now she was in a standing position while Zinnia let out a sigh that could be interpreted as 'finally'.
Lathyrus on the other hand stood stiffly, he didn't exactly... trust these strangers, and was fairly concerned about their sudden presence and willingness to help Adelaide- especially if it could be on false pretense. A snappy bark left him, mainly directed at Primrose, which she gave a gentle chitter back as a way to assure her that she trusted these strangers.
Annnnd... apparently that was enough for the Delphox, who glared down at the strangers but didn't say anything, instead moving towards Adelaide and offering a hand to help her up. The girl was still shaking but she seemed to have calmed down ever so slightly. "...I... I s-still have to find a hotel- o-or... stay at the poke centre- I forgot... I... p-probably wasted an h-hour and... a-and it's not entirely s-safe walking all the way back to Birch t-the darker it gets- a-and I guess I m-missed the one thing i'm... i-i'm supposed to do in Ash...." She seemed more to be talking to herself than anything, heightening her worries just as she'd managed to get her breathing stable. She couldn't do anything right.

As the girl named herself, Atticus was sure of himself now. This was his patient out here in the woods, late in the day, crying over her Pokemon. Poor kiddo…. Yeash, maybe he should have taken some time out to come meet with her instead. Thoughts for later.
Atticus slowly pushed himself to standing again thereafter and reached sideways. Topaz was quick to have her harness at hand level. The bark from the Delphox was not missed by the Lycanroc, and she barked back— a simple reminder that she was there and could hear any of these comments. Pirouette shifted a little before Teleporting onto Atty’s shoulder and sitting there again comfortably. The latter reached his free hand up to pat her.
“There are a couple of Pokemon centers in and around Ash City,” Atticus answered Adelaide’s worried words. There was a pause before he decided to follow up on that. “What did you miss?” Was he really going to do this? Eh, he’d already come out here, so might as well.
The Delphox, who currently had her by the hand ensuring she was stable after pulling her up stayed by her side almost protectively, while Primrose took up the rear and Zinnia tested her wings, flapping them on the spot as if to insure nothing was broken. At the Lycanrock's own bark Lathyrus narrowed his eyes, his worries weren't unwarrented, especially given the state of his trainer. It must have been an unusual sight to Atticus' partners, this tiny girl dwarfed by a Delphox double her size and more and a gigantic Bayleef, as well as an oversized Archen.
Adelaide found herself leaning against the Delphox, needing that extra sense of security right now... maybe things would have gone better if she had Nymph out- Nymph always knew how to handle things, not that her own pokemon weren't great at all! A hiccup, an aftershock of her wild cries from earlier echoed and she lowered her gaze, even as the male spoke...
It... was good to hear there was pokemon centres, at least. Of course, as the man inquired about what she missed the girl didn't answer right away. Perhaps this man was like her parents? Somebody who preferred the more natural way of life, who didn't exactly believe Adelaide needed help and didn't trust Psychologists, she kept her answer as vague as possible, a soft. "J-Just... an... an appointment..." leaving her. "I m-might have the address on my p-phone, if... i-if it's not dead b-but... but i-i'll... i-i'll only disturb them if I go around t-this late s-so i'll p-p-probably... probably have to pop around tommorow.... t-to... t-to apologize and- and Tawny would k-kill me if I didnt reschedule...' Her stuttering as worse than usual, that was something she was able to notice now.
She stuttered a lot. Atticus could hear every single pause and breath. Her tone of voice was not missed either. Just an appointment. Heh, yeah he supposed. Atticus bit the inside of his mouth. Her sister would kill them both probably, but for different reasons and in different ways. “That’s kind of funny, I had a missed appointment earlier,” he answered as he walked. “I’m a psychologist, so it’s kind of one of those things you come to expect. Your average person will understand.” He offered a smile right after that.
Topaz squinted sideways at Atticus. He had a peculiar tone that only she would really recognize after years of being around him, but it was a vague tone, something meaning “I’m thinking” more than anything specific. Pirouette could read Atticus’s emotions. She already knew what was up but chose not to say anything just yet.
Primrose, from behind Adelaide left out a soft cry, moving to nudge her head slightly into Adelaide's back that was probably in an attempt to offer support, but all it did was make the girl stumble more. Her hands moved to cling to the nice cardigan she had on while her mons watched, she was waiting for anything, an answer, the dude saying nevermind and deciding not to help her- she was obviously a mess, and she'd understand, really, if he didn't want to help! She might just collapse on Prim and let the mon take her mon- but... but then people might see her as weak and-
Atticus spoke and immediatly Adelaide's gaze drew back to him. He.... had a missed appointment? She blinked, that was a coincidence, right? If Adelaide was his client he would have known her by her name and made that known already, so bringing that alone up was just... to find commonality? Maybe? And then he continued speaking and Adelaide's grip on her cardigan tightened. A psychologist... you expect... you expect people missing appointments? The average person would understand?
If you were famous and called out for missing any sort of appointment people could call you out for being unorganised and lousy and your face would be plastered all over the news, and... and not just like psychologist ones! Like, maybe a legal one or a lighting set-up one or... or like rehab! Or something! It was just expected you go to things, and if you were going to miss it then you called up at least to let them know, and ADelaide hadn't even done that!
A shaky breath left her, followed by. "T-They'd only understand if they were told t-the reason why... b-before being told somebody m-missed the a-appointment, o-otherwise the average p-person... t-they'd be jumping to conclusions a-and the next thing you know t-there'd be news artciles everywhere w-with your face a-a-and people will s-start judging withput g-getting the full story a-and your whole life would be ruined!" Her explanation ended with a squeak, and suddenlt she was breathless. She forced herself to take a breath, shaking her head a little and pushing her hand up to her glasses, adjusting them slightly. "...but... y-you said... you're... a psychologist? D-D-Do people, uhm- m-miss appointments... often... t-then...?"
News articles? People starting to judge? A whole life ruined? Poor kiddo. She sounded so tense. No wonder her sister were so worried. Closing his eyes, Atticus mentally committed to helping as much as he could. Listening in, Topaz fought not to roll her eyes. Why were humans so stressed out like this. It made no sense. She commended Atticus for helping them but she would never understand how they got like this. Tesla, meanwhile, was a lot more forgiving and gave Adelaide a sympathetic look.
As the question was returned, rather than answer the obvious worries the girl had, Atticus nodded. “Patients with high anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns often struggle with time management and just sometimes even coming in in general. It’s not something a psychologist would share details of since doctor patient confidentiality is protected by law, but in general it’s what we find with certain patients.” First step, recognition. “And of course occasionally you get the person who’s running late because of the line at Jirachibucks.” He gave a small shoulder shrug at that. “It’s not a big deal on my end, so long as when someone does come in, they’ve committed to coming in.”
Eye's widened and mouth opened ever so slightly, a soft gasp of "...ah..." leaving her as Atticus went on to explain why people wouldn't come in. It made enough sense, she guessed, but... again if they were known faces then there was a chance that missing an appointment even for medical reasons such as being too anxious to come would be the new main headline and they'd be left for dead, or... or they'd be heavily criticised online, even! Or.. maybe there was a chance people would be judged for going in, too?! Like, if there were people like her parents who were journalists... and... against...
Adelaide stop! She bit down on her cheek and shook her head, forcing a deep breath in through her nose. "...I h-hope... my... a-appointment person..." She never said psychologist, right? Right! "U-Understands... t-then. I-If it happens o-often then- y-yeah..." That probably gave it away but Adelaide wouldnt notice, instead bringing a hand to her cheek and rubbing the skin.
"U-Uhm... i-is... i-is it okay if... i-if we start moving- I... u-uhm... d-don't want it t-to get t-t-too dark- b-because- i-it becomes h-harder to s-s-spot... l-like... b-bad s-stuff..."
The way the girl’s breath hitched was not lost on Atticus. Pirouette also gave a smaller noise as if to accent this. Biting the inside of his mouth, Atticus waited for her to reply all the same. As Adelaide spoke, though, Atticus blinked. Ah yeah, they weren’t moving, heh. Guess he got a bit lost in the conversation.
“Ah, sure, heh. I’m lucky enough to just trust she knows where she’s going and will warn me of stuff.” He made a small head gesture at the Lycanroc. “Top, you ready?” The Lycanroc rolled her eyes and gave a small gruff sound before turning and effectively tugging him back in the direction they had come. Atticus walked on with her. Pir gave a small trill at that. “So since you were headed through the Weeping Forest, I take it you’re from Birch or somewhere ‘round there?” Atticus asked sort of continuing the conversation in a different way.
Adelaide smiled half-heartedly, yeah it sounded like he had a really good guide pokemon to help him... that was cool. She couldn't imagine what'd happen to this guy without... Top? Top. Or, maybe she could, and maybe the imgary of getting lost and hurt all alone in the dark was incredibly offputting but... but she wouldn't get lost and alone! She had her pokemon- and... one was a fire type! But... but if she didn't have them out she could get mugged, or- or the paparazzi coud find her... Thoughts quickly trailed off as Attitucs spoke and Adelaide reached out again towards her fire type, out towards the warmth and comfort.
She'd begun carefully walking, gaze still widely taking in her surroundings. It took her a few moments to mull over his question... she... wasn't from around here, no, she wasn't native- but maybe his question was do you live in Birch?! Which... also would be no, it'd be no for everywhere- like- she's really just... between cities, in hotels... sleeping outside a random persons tent in the weeping forest... It took a slight swallow before she responded, managing out, "...I-I'm n-not native- u-uhm... i'm... i-i'm f-f-from Sinnoh... b-but, i've been... l-living in h-hotels in B-B-Birch and... uh... B-Bass... the last, uh, month o-or so..."
Atticus waited for Addy to speak, giving her an unjudging amount of time. As she finally described where she was from, however, he blinked. Ah, that was interesting. “Taken in by Arciel’s travel agency, yeah?” he asked half smiling sideways at her. “They’ve been trying very hard to get as many new people into the region as possible. Are you on a Pokemon journey, then? Or perhaps just here for a tourist visit.”
Fair enough to ask. Granted she had quite a few powerful Pokemon from the sounds and feel of it already. How such a nervous awkward girl managed it was a debate for another time, heh. It was, in all cases, better this way anyways.
“I’m actually an Arcellian native, born and raised, though I went out to various regions when I was younger,” he gave some information if only to fill the space.
A shrug was the initial response to if she was taken in by the travel agency, followed by a soft, "...I... I d-don't know?" She didn't really know what that meant, or maybe the was just overthinking the meaning, she tended to do that a lot. As he continued though a soft noise of understanding left her, ohhhh- like... like the advertising and stuff, he was asking if that's what made her come here. "...M-My sister... s-saw the ads a-and wanted me to g-go..." And even then Adelaide was reluctant- this was all a big mistake wasn't it?! She hadn't even participated in a show, hadn't even done anything worth what her sister paid for- all she'd done was make a fool out of herself and cry and suffer and- no wonder the media hates her. No wonder she hated her then and they'll hate her now.
Should she even tell him that she wanted to be a coordinator? That that had been her dream from when she was little? Hed laugh at her, they always laughed, they laughed and they said she'd never be like Dia, that she was just in Dia's shadow- she wouldn't blame him. Somebody like her could never do a contest, could never become big and famous. "I-I'm... i-i'm... here for... uhm..." She found herself struggling to speak, mouth dry, and moved both her hands to clutch at her chest. "....c-contests... to.... t-to... perform... b-because I couldn't i-in Sinnoh- or- o-or anywhere that knew Dia...."
She hadn't realized she'd mentioned her other sister, and instead brought a hand up to push at her curls, to work through her hair nervously. She was slowing a little now, her override of thought taking over her need to get to Ash. As he spoke about how he was born and raised here Adelaide could only manage a soft, "...A-Ah..." In response. "i-i'm....f-from Sinnoh...." She repeated, only realizing she'd repeated it after rethinking what she'd said. And suddenly a burst of apologetic words left her. "A-Ah i'm s-so sorry- I- I already s-said that right!? I d-don't think sometimes I r-really didn't w-want to come off l-like I wasn't listening b-because I was- b-being raised in Arciel m-must be great- r-really- I c-completely understand I-If you wanna l-leave me i-in t-t-this route b-b-because i've done something unforgiveable- o-or if you wanna tell the press!" She was rambling, and only managed to breath when Lathyrus let out a low growl and tightened his grip on her shoulder, as if to snap her out of it.
A few apologetic mumbles consiting of 'sorry' left her before she lowered her head, kicking lightly as the dirt under her feet. "I r-really didn't mean it- A-Arciel... it seems... s-softer t-than SInnoh- i-i-i'm from a uh... a p-port city, s-so... i-it's very different... A-And... I w-was told the press w-wouldn't know me here... m-my sister... n-not Tawny but... s-she's famous..." It was come out as a soft breath, followed by, "H-Have you ever b-been to Sinnoh? M...Maybe you've heard of her?"

Ah, so it was her sister who had encouraged her to go (or wanted her to go, rather), and Adelaide had just rolled with it? Well, partly anyways. Atticus wasn’t sure who Dia was and wasn’t ready to ask immediately, so instead he gave a small hum back. “Well, there are quite a few contest halls here,” he answered. “I haven’t really been able to watch them for years,” He raised a hand and made an index point to his eyes before shrugging. “But the ones I remember were always interesting.”
The sudden burst of apologies had Atticus slowly come to a halt. Pirouette was gripping into his shoulder rather hard as she too felt Addy’s emotions and kind of wanted to burst out in tears out of nowhere. “Easy kiddo,” Atticus spoke turning towards Addy. “Deep breaths. There’s no harm in repeating yourself,” he continued on calmly. “It’s not unforgivable.” She went on apologizing, though. Atticus breathed out softly. The mention of Sinnoh, however, earned a shake of head. “I’ve never been to Sinnoh, actually,” he answered. A pause. “It sounds like you’re trying to develop something unique for yourself here. It’s a good time to.”
