Nikolai Julien Lavoie
Age 28 Birthday April 21st, 1992 Gender Male Pronouns He/Him Orientation Bisexual Faction Freelancer Class Breeder Rank Pokesitter Occupation Pokemon Breeder/Daycare Employee Hometown Aquacorde Town, Kalos Current Residence Plum City, Arciel | Tell us a little about yourself. How would you describe yourself? The man sits there, a very neutral expression on his face. His posture seemingly stiff but this is actually him somewhat relaxed. Vibrant blue eyes continue to stare forward. "I wasn't under the impression that this was a proper interview. Forgive me for not being prepared." Even his tone is neutral, almost tired like he has much better things to do. Which according to Nikolai, he did. But this was a neccessary evil. "I'm Nikolai Lavoie, just a young man from Kalos who is looking for something better than he was given. My parents were new to breeding Pokemon, and while I started gathering knowledge with them I've grown sick of their practices and figured it was time to distance myself from them. So when it came time to renew my breeding license I figured why not come to a new region?" Not that he had a valid Breeder's license to begin with... Why are you interested in the class you've chosen? His eyebrow raised oh so slowly, something someone may have missed if they weren't paying that much attention to him. But in a one on one interview, hard to miss the subtle shift. "While I wasn't raised to be a breeder under my parent's tutelage, I took to the practices much quicker, and with more ease than them. That and I will admit, it's hard to not find newly hatched particularly adorable. And there is just something beautiful about watching a Pokemon you raised grow up." His blue eyes glimmered with just the slightest spark of fondness. One thing for certain, he'd be a lot more picky about where the Pokemon he bred went. He still despised his parents for their practices, Nikolai could, and would, do so much better by himself. Why are you interested in training in Arciel? Why not another region? "Why not?" Nikolai questioned, shoulders lifting then falling with disinterest. "Any region other than Kalos would do. But out of them all, Arciel sounds like the most interesting. Currently has the most advertisements on the television or social media. My parents aren't here, no extended family that I'm aware of. Seems like a good place for someone to start fresh." Another shrug. "And definitely plenty of people to hopefully appreciate the Pokemon I breed once I start gathering some willing partners." What do you consider your best attributes? They can be physical, mental, social, or anything else. "Best attributes?" Now this was something Nikolai really needed to think about. It had to be good. "Perhaps I'm artistic. Maybe it's more perspective, but I view people and Pokemon like uncut gems." Nikolai began, clasping his fingers methodically over each other. "Every person, every Pokemon is unique with something all their own. And for the most part, I can find that. And in the case of Pokemon, I can find the right cut and polish them up to be their best mon. I believe it makes me very good at matching people to the Pokemon they desire. Though I certainly wouldn't rival the skills of any professor." Each finger tapped against another oh so slowly. Then he lifted his hands, wiggling his fingers. "I'm also good with these, and fond of painting." What do you consider your worst attributes? Be honest, now! Oh, well. He sure saw this one coming. "I'm a human, therefore I have vices." The raven let his lips lift into the faintest of smirks. "And I'm not opposed to taking a chance to enjoy them." Nikolai's smirk turned almost dangerous, just the slightest bit predatory. "Men or women. Drink or cigarette. I'm not really opposed to trying anything at least once." But then the expression fell, and his neutral expression replaced it. "Another is that I'm not the best at expressing anything that others would consider more positive emotions. I have what others call," Fingers lifted to air quote. "Resting bitch face." What was your childhood like? How was school? "Nothing overly extraordinary." His head tilted back, staring up at the ceiling while he tried to think that far back. Human memory wasn't know to last that long, and Nikolai wasn't an exception for that. "At the time, Aquacorde's hospital was getting renovated, so my mother decided to use the hospital in Santalune City. I was being difficult as she put it and she needed a c-section. So I was technically born in Santalune, but was raised in Aquacorde. My childhood was normal. Went to school, did pretty good according to my grades. Once I started high school my parents put me to work as they were fishermen." It was here that Nikolai paused, whether for dramatics or so he could think remained uncertain. "I finished high school, and that was when my mother found out there was such a potential profit by breeding Pokemon. So I was 18 when the idea was first proposed, and 19 when my mother actually began to seriously look into it. By the time she was set up with Pokemon and caring for them, another family was breeding successfully in town for a few years. And as my mom wasn't willing to travel much, and didn't dare go into Santalune Forest, she only had the more common and easier to catch Pokemon that our 'competitors' already had." Nikolai sighed, shrugging as he sat up properly again. "Not surprising that they failed." How is your relationship with your family? "Admittedly not very good, however that is not all on me." Nikolai's fingers tapped a beat against his thigh, blue eyes watching his fingers with vague interest. "I tried to give my mother advice, to travel and expand our collection, perhaps find better Pokemon. But she had the firm belief that all Pokemon were the same. So when I took it upon myself to bring in Pokemon by myself that were admittedly better than her's she became very displeased with me. She kept fighting me, and when my father took her side it continued to escalate until I grew fed up with it and finally moved out on my own for college. I believe I was 20 or 21 at the time I moved. I now have very little contact with either of them other than we occasionally send birthday, Christmas or anniversary cards." Nikolai shrugged, seemingly not too bothered by this development. Though he didn't say it, the Pokemon he had gathered were mostly stolen. As far as his parents knew they were bought. But several of them were stolen. What do you like to do for fun? Okay, now maybe this question actually threw him off, eyes widening and jaw dropping just the slightest before he burst out into laughter. "So this isn't really a formal interview then is it?" The man couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "Well, I have to say, I do take a certain pride, joy and fun in breeding and raising Pokemon. I especially have a fondness for the young ones. Or even those who are much smaller than you'd expect of their species." Nikolai still chuckled a bit. "I also am good with my hands. I'm one of those DIY people you could say? I don't mind repurposing things to make something new. And I take a particular joy in landscaping, and maybe a little gardening. And that all comes together into making unique areas for the little ones to play in." He definitely had a bit of a smile on his face now, though if it were to be brought up he may very well deny it. What are your feelings on romance? Just as quickly as he smiled, it faded. "Well, I believe romance is a farce that is not worthy of my time nor attention. Could say I almost believe that love isn't even an emotion." Once again his gaze had turned cold as Nikolai stared right at the interviewer. "Relationships are nothing but an excuse for a person to take advantage of another. Yes relationships are a two way street, but it's just a reason for someone to say 'Well, you're my friend, can't you give me a hand?' in an attempt to get something from you." Nikolai nearly hissed the words before he was stopping himself from taking out past aggressions out on someone who hadn't wronged him. "Apologies, it's a very touchy subject." The ravenette cleared his throat. "Needless to say, I'm perfectly fine on my own." What are your goals for the future? Short-term and long-term. Thin eyebrows lifted in surprise. This was an odd interview indeed, but not something he couldn't handle. "Well, that does give me something to think about. Just a moment." Nikolai paused as he organized his thoughts. "Well, I definitely wouldn't mind taking the time to look around and enjoy the sights Arciel has to offer. Saving money for a plot of land to maybe start a daycare would be nice. Definitely want to gather some Pokemon that are truly my own." He nodded. "Perhaps even take a chance to enjoy a journey of my own, that is if I'm not too old for it." A soft breath of a chuckle. If you could be a Pokemon, what species or typing would you choose and why? "You're asking me my type?" Another half chuckle as Nikolai leaned forward. His chin rested on the palm of his hand, fingers tapping at his thigh. "I'd have a hard time picking just a singular species. There are so many good ones to pick from. But if I were to narrow it down to just a type, I'd have to pick a dark type." Nikolai finished his musings. "Now if I were to pick just a dark type that I know of, I'd say that I'm and Absol. I believe Absol are heavily misunderstood. They come to warn us of disasters, and get blamed for bringing them instead. Don't you think that is incredibly unfair?" His chin tilted one way, eyes blinking slowly almost as if he were trying to act innocent. What do Pokemon mean to you? "Sadly that is probably another answer you may not be the happiest with." Nikolai warned, leaning forward more before speaking again. "It heavily depends on their trainer. Once a Pokemon has been trained a certain way, to be nothing but a tool or a fighter, that can be a hard flaw to remove. And in some cases, you'll never be able to change that Pokemon's mindset. In that case, they are indeed nothing but a tool." Nikolai held up a finger when he saw the interviewer starting to protest. "However, if a Pokemon is treated as a partner, as a companion, then that is what they are. Anything negative stays with anyone a lot easier than anything positive. But to me, all Pokemon are friends, companions, before they are tools." Anything else you'd like to tell us about before you go? "No thank you, I believe this has used up enough of our valuable time." |
Appearance
Height 6'00" / 183cm Build Lithe Hair Color Black Eye Color Blue | Nikolai views himself as just a plain old guy, no thinking he is overly attractive but attractive enough to warrant a bit of attention. He is tall with long limbs, only carried with grace due to how much practice he has. He had quite the growth spurt in high school, leaving behind a few now faint stretch marks down his back. Nikolai's hair is black, kept on the shorter side but never buzz cut. The soft black strands are kept clean with frequent showers and fall quite flat against his head with no sign of curls. Nikolai's facial features are quite angular, his chin pointed and jawline defined. Thin eyebrows and a thin nose compliment his almond shaped eyes. His eyes easily being the most striking thing about him. They are a very intense, very vibrant shade of blue. It's a shame that Nikolai doesn't express emotion more, his resting bitch face being what throws some people off. As for his clothing, his wardrobe is quite monochromatic. Blacks, whites and greys make up a majority of the colors he wears. Though he doesn't have qualms with the occasional bit of blue. More often than not Nikolai leans towards formal wear. Dress shirts, dress pants, though he can be spotted in slacks and more casual wear. Aura Nikolai's Aura represents him fairly well at least in coloration. His Aura radiates off of him like waves of heat where they are slightly transparent. Closest to his body, his aura is a darker shade of blue, then to a lighter blue before fading eventually to white before disappearing from sight. His Aura rises about a foot before it vanishes. When he's happy, his aura lightens significantly, the darker base shifting to a medium shade of blue before continuing to fade to white. But when angered the colors darken, meaning that the entirety of it is a dark blue before it turns transparent. Now when he is sad, though that isn't really seen often, the heat waves condense around his body more like a blanket, where it remains a dark and a medium shade of blue. |

When his parents decided to switch from fishing to Pokemon breeding as a means of money, he was all for it. However, where Nikolai had the passion and sense for it, his parents did not. His mother catching any Pokemon she could get her hands on, and getting quite frustrated when the Pokemon didn't "get on with it" like she wanted due to conflicting natures. She didn't care that each Pokemon was an individual and had their own likes and dislikes. So when Nikolai took it upon himself to get better Pokemon (he bought some, stole most of them from other trainers who Nikolai viewed were using them incorrectly). His mother despised that her son looked down on her, and was jealous that he already had the makings of a decent breeder. So she verbally abused Nikolai until he left of his own free will. Neither of his parents know that he has made it a habit to steal, and they do not know that he stole the Pokemon still currently in their possession. Pokemon
