The agreement had been to meet by one of the solitary docks at dusk- which wasn’t too far passed five o’clock these days with darkness coming on so hard and fast, but still. Less light meant less chance of being spotted and recognized both as they left Bass and as they entered Plum. Plus, Gabe had made this trip plenty of times already. The flight path was, in many ways, written on the back of his hand.
Gabe was already there leaned up against a dock shoulder smoking a candy-zard cigarette and compulsively checking the time. One hand had both his phone and Rep’s Pokeball in it. The other was used solely for pulling the cig out of his mouth from time to time as he breathed. He wore a loose sweater under a wool only partially unbuttoned. His pants had seen better days, but his black riding boots were surprisingly new. In essence, he resembled any other idiot impatient teenager of his era. Granted, he wouldn’t be a teenager much longer.
His eyes flicked up at the sound of feet along the docks, and a smile immediately pulled onto his features. “And here I thought you’d gotten lost,” he jeered.

"Something-something 'a wizard is never late'. Are you really complaining?" Senara came up over the dock with quick, quiet steps, muffled by the snow on the ground and the blanket of night. She was still bundled up once again for flying again; a thick winter coat, fluffy and white, over her warmest mauve sweater and fleece-lined overalls---she wasn't trying to look cute today, just keep the cold from eating her up. Something was balanced atop her head, but it wasn't the winter hat she'd had last time. Rather, it looked to be a tea-cup balancing perfectly on the top of her brightly colored head of hair. As she approached it turned to look toward Gabe with, well, an actual face, its porcelain eyes staring intently at the person its trainer was coming up to. Despite her better judgement Senara smiled back at Gabe before deftly flicking him the bird.
"It's not like you're easy to spot out here, anyway, dressed in goth-ness utterly. Are you trying to out-do Nails? Because I think he's still got you beat with the red tips." She snickered and lowered the offending finger while raising her hand up to take the cup from off her head. The Sinistea made a weird sound that was closer to fine China clinking than a voice speaking. She held it out for Gabe to take without explanation. "You'd think this aura-sight thing would make seeing in the dark easier. I want my money back."
"Anyway, Gabby, meet your namesake. Gabe, the latest addition to my team. It's spooky, fancy, and purple, and I couldn't help myself..." Her little smile turned into a sly grin. "It's also a massive brat and keeps picking on its teammates. Perfect fit, isn't it?"
Gabe snickered. Of course he wasn’t really complaining, but Senara would never get vocal confirmation from him. He wouldn’t notice the cup of tea on her head immediately, his gaze on hers. However, as it turned, he caught motion in the corner of his eyes and looked up. “What the…” He didn’t have time to ask specifically before she was mocking his clothing. A small roll of eyes was given back. “I didn’t realize we were going to a tea party in Plum,” he answered pocketing his phone and Rep’s ball to take the cup as it was handed to him.
The explanation that came after had Gabe’s aura flickering a bit. The normal blue and purple was on the move, shifting and swirling before settling again like a plume of smoke. Gabe’s features softened, though, as he raised up the tea cup to examine it a little more. Spooky, fancy, purple, and a massive brat…. Another namesake… I wonder what her Misdreavus is even like… For once thinking of Ara didn’t send him into a spiral. It sort of just… fell away. “I appreciate the naming. I bet this must be how Earl Grey must have felt,” Gabe snickered softly reaching to try and pet the teacup ghost with the hand the cigarette was balanced within. “I’ve never seen a Pokemon like this before… what is it?” he asked shifting to hand it back to Senara again.

Senara shrugged off that little quip. "Gabe, chéri,, it's always a party where I go." She waited for Gabe to get a little closer look at Gabby, and while he did she spotted a faint light in his hand that she had to squint to see. Huh, she hadn't realize he smoked, but that did kind of fit his whole "theme" of fire, didn't it. Gabby jumped in her palm so it could bump its handle against Gabe's hand like it were trying to smack it away, then let out a spectral little laugh that rattled its cup against the little ceramic platter it rested on. "Now Gabby, if you're rude to him it's just going to open you up to the same treatment," she gently warned her Pokemon. Gabby ignored her and let out another small trill.
"I had to look up the Galar 'dex for them, actually. It's called a Théffroi, or 'Sinistea' outside of Kalos. As I said before I'm going to strangle whoever the Professor is who names these things." Senara gave an irritated sigh and a shake of her head. The wave of purple didn't go missed, but she still wasn't sure what it meant. Her basic experience said lighter colors were better than darker, but too bright wasn't great, either. Whee. It would help if she had more than Gabe to test her theories on but people would look at her weird if she walked around with her eye-socket out.
Maybe she needed a new kind of prosthetic...well, those were thoughts for another day.
"According to my research they're supposed to evolve, but I'm not sure how, or how much of it is its actual spectral form and how much is literally just a tea cup." Gabby clattered on its platter and floated up out of Senara's hand to get right in Gabe's face, trilled once more, then seated itself on his head. "Oh, and they like to feel tall, so..."
The soft bump of cup against hand had Gabe flicking the cigarette into a different set of fingers to hold tighter. A small chuckle escaped from Gabe in response. “It’s so cute…” was all he answered with even as Senara scolded it. I want one… Even if it wasn’t Fire related. He listened carefully as Senara spoke. Sinistea… hah, cute. Sinister tea. Sure.
As it floated right up to his face, Gabe grinned at it— Only to blink a couple of times as it seated itself on his head. “That’s adorable… I love it….” He reached up and gently prodded the tea cup a couple of times. “Entirely too precious.” His hands then moved in unison to try and pull the tea cup off his head and into his hand again. “I bet you’d rob a grave just to have a cute antique spoon, yes you would, yes you woooould…” Was he really baby-talking a tea pot? Perhaps.

A faint giggle slipped from Senara's lips. Gabby jumped from atop Gabe's head into his waiting hands and hunkered down, still clicking and clattering in that strange semi-vocal manner. It was eating up all the attention, she just knew it. It was also kind of cute how sweet Gabe was being to the little tea cup...especially since she'd named it after him and all...she coughed once, grateful for the darkness. "I'm glad you like them. They're, uh, gender-less, so I'm not sure how I would go about getting another outside hunting for it, but...if I ever do figure that out, or I find another...I'll remember that you liked it."
"B-Because they're pretty strong," she quickly added to the end of that little spiel, "If its stats continue the way they are past evolving, they could be a really powerful shield."
Smooth excuses, thy name isn't me.
Gabby did a little spin on its plate. Spoons? Ooh, it would love a fancy spoon!
Senara took out another Pokeball, this one blue and decorated with black webbing--or perhaps netting--and clicked it open with her thumb. "I also found this little guy up on Route Seven, vérifiez-le~" As the light dispersed, there on her arm clung a strange little lump of what looked liked brilliant crystals, but on closer inspection they'd be revealed to be made of ice. The Snom, Neigeux, only blinked its little black eyes and didn't even try to move to look at Gabe. Senara ran her hand over the spines on his back with a grin. "Have you seen one of these yet? There's a whole bunch of them up there because of the snow. And they have the best name--I don't even care about the Kalosian version. It's called a Snom." She snerked softly into her coat collar. "Snom! Isn't that adorable?"
The moment the name of the other Pokemon was said, though, Gabby turned on their platter and stared down at Neigeux with the biggest frown. It stuck its little purple tongue out in his direction, trilled quite angrily at him, and then turned back to Gabe, pouting.
Senara snickered again. "Gabby doesn't like him. I think he's too dumb for it to tease."
...which in itself was another reason Gabby suited its name.
A genderless tea specter…. Ah adorable. Gabe grinned petting the little ghost. Looking up at Senara, he grinned. “Thanks~!” Maybe he’d have to look up where to find them and do some of his own hunting sometime. As she quickly added in that they were supposedly rather strong, he looked back at the tea cup again. “I stee…” he punned a little softly.
As another Pokemon was released, Gabe glanced over to it. What….. Gabe squinted. “Is it a Bug???” Either way it was a Snom. Gabe snorted. Why was she so excited about this? It was almost cute. “It sort of looks like a Larvesta….” he answered. At the trill of the cup, though, Gabe glanced down again. Too dumb to— “….”
Hah. “You know, now I have to name something after you….” he smirked. “Maybe a Clefairy or Jigglypuff….” he smirked. “Though if we’re showing off Pokemon I….” He hesitated looking down at the cup and then up at Senara again. He…. he really hoped she didn’t take offense with a Ghost being out. Whatever.
Gabe shifted, pushing Rep’s ball to one corner of his pocket before pulling out another. It was a Luxury Ball but had a little H on it almost akin to an Ultra Ball design of all things. Tossing it up, he released… an utterly massive Alakazam. Normal Alakazam were almost five foot tall. This one was almost ten foot tall. She stood high her gaze dropping down to Gabe and then Senara. It was only after the fact that Gabe realized she had a spoon he had just suggested for the Sinistea to have, but hers was far too large to be of use.
“Ah…. Harriet… this is Senara,” Gabe commented.
The Alakazam looked straight at the woman with a discerning gaze. <I see. Nice to meet you, Senara.> was projected out telepathically through the air.

The roll of her eye at that terrible pun turned into a bigger smile at Gabe's reaction to the Snom. It was such a weird little creature, she had to share it. "Ice and Bug! Isn't it so silly looking? It also evolves but apparently only at night. Hence," she waved her hand, "I keep it with me now at night time. I wonder what it'll look like evolved...I hope it gets a little smarter if nothing else." Senara giggled again and tapped Neigeux on the head with his pokeball, and he was returned inside it with a beam of red light. "I refuse to hear anything about how bugs aren't cute, though. Not when your favorite is a big lizard."
His little "promise" though...
"If you name me after a Fairy type, I'm going to break your nose." She said it to quickly and so empty of her teasing or normal vitriol that it sounded hallow in her own ears, but she couldn't help it. Hah, he had no idea about that, and it wasn't something she wanted to share with him, either. Or...anybody. Not even somebody who might be a friend.
Disgusting little cretins. All of them. I hate them. I hate them.
With its mortal enemy back in its confinement--and the person holding her distracted by something else--Gabby floated back up to the top of Gabe's head once more. It took a little while for him to get what he wanted out. Ooh, luxury balls. Nice. She had to grab some more of those next time she was near a market. Genuinely curious she took a step closer as the light burst free from the pokeball...only to back up very quickly once its form started taking, and it towered over them like Chanceux, but...humanoid. Why was that so much creepier than a giant serpent-like Pokemon? There was no one reason.
But still. Holy shit.
"Whoa. That's. That is a tall Alakazam," she mumbled before Gabe got introductions in. She was about to say something in return to Harriet when she heard another voice. Her first response was to turn sharply behind her on her blind side. It wasn't the first time somebody had managed to sneak up behind her that way. But the voice hadn't come from over her shoulder. Slowly she looked back up at the Alakazam, eye widening. "Oh. Oh, you can...talk." Senara giggled a little nervously. "Um...is this a one-way or two-way channel, because I'm not sure how I feel about this right now. Shock hasn't worn off."
It made sense. Psychic Pokemon were exactly what their name implied. That one was capable of telepathy wasn't unheard of, and probably wasn't that uncommon. It was just the very first time she'd ever experienced it in person. She didn't have one of her own.
And now I'm not so sure I want one. If they can peek into my head...yikes.
A small puff of air had escaped from Gabe when Senara had spoken about breaking his nose. He was too busy fishing in his pockets to see her face but was at least somewhat aware of something in her voice regarding that. He wouldn’t process her undying hatred entirely, right then, but would file it away for later.
What Gabe would remember more clearly later, was the way in which Senara had whipped around startled by Hariet’s psychic words. Gabe couldn’t help but snicker. “She surprised me the first time too….” he snickered.
Harriet glanced sideways at Gabe and then forward to Senara. <I am not one to pry, but some individuals have particularly loud minds…> she commented shooting Gabe a look sideways. Gabe just grinned and rolled his eyes. <If you don’t want me to know something, try not to think about it too much.> She smiled and folded her hands in front of herself after. <I am Gabe’s teacher—>
“She’s very worldly, knowledgeable about a lot of things…” Gabe cut in. Harriet paused and glanced sideways at Gabe again before nodding.
<Is there something you needed, Gabe?> she asked instead.
“Ah no…. Senara was showing off her new team so I….” Gabe grinned.
The Alakazam blinked and then reached for the Sinistea cup on his head. <I see….>
Senara gave a small flinch at the confirmation that, yes, indeed, the mind-reading thing did go both ways. Great. Awesome. How did you stop yourself from thinking?? What were some things she really didn't want her to hear?...oh Gods stop thinking about them right now when she's here and can hear them!! With a sharp intake of air that was then exhaled slowly she tried to keep her thoughts as quiet as possible. However the hell that worked. "Well, uh, thanks for the honesty. I'll try to keep my brain quiet."
She didn't notice Gabe cutting in at an opportune moment, still a little unnerved by the whole telepathy thing, but what he said did earn a little more curiosity than concern. "She is?" Senara looked back up at Harriet with a furrowed brow. It was a bit strange asking her friend's Pokemon this question, but if she was smart enough to teach Gabe anything--and not give up, the big dumbass--then maybe she could help her out. "This is a weird question, but...ever hear about or see anyone who could read aura before? I..." she glanced at Gabe and back up again, "Only learned I could do it, like, a week ago and still have no idea what to do with it. Is it, like, something similar to what you do?"
Gabby floated right from Gabe's head to the offered hand of the Alakazam, relishing in the chance to be atop or or held by somebody so high up. She also had spoons, like Gabe had talked about! They were much bigger than their little tea cup, though...aww...
If only they had a bigger space, then they could have a big spoon, too...
Senara blinked once and then tapped at her backpack strap. "Uh, other question, do all Psychic type Pokemon have this sort of thing going? Because I've got a Ralts egg that I now feel vastly unprepared to take care of. Like. No babies reading my mind, please."
Harriet hesitated but nodded as well. <I am several hundred years old…> she started slowly. <I have seen many things> And had many trainers, though she wouldn’t state that outright. As the question was asked, however, she perked up a bit. <I … well, I have never met a human with aura per say, but I have met plenty of Lucario including an old aura master himself> she smiled thinking about those times. <He had a particularly powerful connection with the aura flow.>
As the tea cup came to her, Harriet smiled. What a strange Pokemon; she was pretty sure that tea cup was real. Shifting one of her spoons to one hand, she carefully lifted up the tea cup in said spoon. How interesting! <I had an old friend whose tea cup was very similar to this…> she mused aloud.
These musings were paused briefly as Senara spoke up again. <Speaking? Ah, no not all of us. It takes time and a special sort of training to achieve. I could only do so after I’d fully evolved and met a very …. Peculiar human. It’s much less natural to us than say using a Pokemon move. Sort of like how humans can move their limbs, but psychic humans need training to strengthen their telekinesis— for instance>
Gabe had fallen silent through all of this. His mind, meanwhile, was buzzing with thoughts— some directed at Harriet now. I don’t want her to know I’m a psychic… The Alakazam looked down and sideways at him curiously but accepted it— for now.
<I could recount for you what I know of aura, though, if you’d like>
Several hundred?? Xerneas' hooves that was a long fucking time to be alive.
Senara's questions quadrupled in her head the more Harriet said--well, "said"--and her eye grew wider with every passing second until it and the plate Gabby sat on were about the same size. So she did have some experience with aura, just not with humans? But that did mean it wasn't something she had no knowledge of. It couldn't be so different for her versus a Lucario, right? Right...? She had to ask more about this, but she bit her tongue for just a little longer so as to not interrupt the very tall, still very intimidating Alakazam--even if the way she scooped Gabby up was pretty damn cute.
Being reassured that, no, the Ralts she was hatching was not going to start reading her mind the moment it popped out of its shell was nice. Senara lowered her hand and let out a small sight of relief. "Alright, good. I...may consider that at some point for them, but I don't know. I think I have enough weird things in my head as is without literal additional voices. No offense." She gave Harriet a slightly easier smile. It faded quickly, though, with Gabe's insisting that they get a move on. Her gut told her to protest, but...no. He had a point. They were burning moonlight. "I'll take you up on that offer later, if that's alright? Seriously, thank you though. Even if it's not a lot of information, it will help. They don't exactly teach aura in university."
And I don't want to hurt myself...or anybody else...not by accident...
She bit her lip and hoped that didn't go through the telepathy. Urgh, keeping her thoughts guarded around Harriet was going to be hard. Her best black comedy was in her head because she was always wearing a fake face around people...except for Gabe.
Senara pulled a simple pokeball decorated with purple and gold rhinestones from her coat pocket and held it out. "Come on back, Gabby. You can come back out once we're back on land." Gabby huffed, voice clinking like porcelain, but did not complain too much. He still flew up and stole a nuzzle from Harriet before allowing himself to be drawn back into his pokeball in a familiar beam of red light. Senara snorted at them.
"I think they like you. I wonder why--I thought Ghosts and Psychics didn't get along."
Harriet was very much aware of the questions that practically screamed out of Senara’s head, but as the pink latter didn’t speak them out loud just yet, the prior resolved to ignore them. She gave a nod to Senara’s words instead. She could understand how stressful that could be. <It’s fine> was all she’d assure. A smile came to her thereafter, though. <Of course, I’m glad to help where I can.> She paused on hearing Senara’s thoughts and looked between her and Gabe momentarily. Only to Senara, a series of words were projected right after <You and Gabe are very similar.>
Thereafter, Harriet looked back to Gabe who was looking up at her with a questionable expression. She smiled and used her free hand to pat him on the head. Gabe frowned a little but didn’t pull away. As the Sinistea was recalled, Harriet briefly pat the small ghost again before watching it disappear. The comment from Senara thereafter earned a small smile. < I try and get along with everyone> she laughed.
“I had also just mentioned a big spoon to the Sinistea and then let you out…” Gabe chuckled. A soft chuckle escaped from Harriet at that. There was a momentary hesitation before Gabe fished into his pocket and pulled her Pokeball out again. We’ll talk later…
<Of course…> came the thoughts only directed at Gabe.
Thereafter, the Alakazam disappeared in a beam of red light, and Gabe was exchanging Pokeballs for another— Rep’s. Gabe took in a slow breath before tossing it up into the air. In a moment, Rep appeared— perhaps even larger than he had been before. The harness that was already on his frame seemed stretched even in the lack of light. The Charizard himself stretched and flashed Gabe a particular glare before rolling his body a couple of times. He already knew why he was there and what needed to get done, but he was still… displeased at best.

It felt like a stone had been rolled off her chest, knowing she had somebody who might be able to help her figure this aura thing out. It was lessened a little because Harriet wasn't an aura user herself but...beggars can't be choosers. This would have to do.
Senara wasn't sure if the next telepathic sentence was shared aloud with everyone or not, because her response of looking up and blinking in confusion wasn't met with any change from Gabe. What was that supposed to mean? Should she press? She wanted to press, because that wasn't--was that a follow-up on her thoughts, or something else? Sure, they were both thieves and con-artists and, yeah, more than a little crazy, but what did she mean, specifically? Senara opened her mouth to ask aloud, but thought better, and pressed her lips into a thin line instead. With Gabby returned she put their pokeball into her pocket and zipped it tightly shut. It wouldn't leave her head though.
What did she mean?
Once Reptar was out she looked up again, smiled a little more anxiously than before, and walked up to offer a friendly pat to the Charizard's neck. "Hey again, big guy. Sorry about the harness. I should have my own means of flying soon, so...should only be this trip, then never again." Senara looked over at Gabe again, a moment's concern going over her features before it hid behind a smirk. "Should we strap you in this time, just to be safe? Or are you gonna swear not to do anything stupid this time?"
Her voice didn't quite fit the words. Coy as she was trying to be, she was still worried. But he'd said he wasn't going to do anything reckless over Arietta anymore. He...hadn't promised, and promises, to people who weren't Senara, were easily broken anyway.
Rep looked down at Senara and then lowered his head to her level very briefly pressing the side of his face to hers in a small gesture back. He was… glad she was flying with them. He … did not fully trust Gabe to fly with him alone anymore. The apology earned a deep snorted breath back. It was fine, for now anyways.
Gabe, meanwhile, had kept his distance for a moment, his eyes flicking out along the water that led to Plum Island instead. It was only as she spoke that he looked back again. Something in his aura flared and died in a split second. Taking its place was a trace of silver as he pulled at his own psychic power, willing it on himself. “I won’t, I swear.” He smiled a little and shook his head. Hearing his own psychic suggestion resonating was always weird, but in this case he’d tolerate it.
“The wind over the water is going to be a little rough…” Gabe commented thereafter. “But there won’t be any fast twists or turns. Rep, you mind?” The Charizard did mind, but he leaned down slowly again as he had on their land flight. Gabe would wait for Senara to climb on before starting to strap her in as he had before, his eyes remaining low as he focused. Thereafter, he climbed up on back and sat right behind Senara again. “Alright then, let’s go, Rep.”
The Charizard stretched his wings as he had before, flapped them a few times, and then broke upwards.

Senara giggled softly as she got nuzzled by a very large lizard, continuing to pet him on the neck until he drew back from her. Aww. That felt nice, being accepted by Reptar. And a little strange because he wasn't her Pokemon, and because he had no reason to show her any sort of affection. Unless he liked her for berating his stupid trainer for what he'd done last time they flew together. Speaking of Gabe and his stupid-ness, her eye lingered on him for a moment longer, narrowing slightly when his aura grew brighter then dimmed in turn. Was that...bad? Good? The wisp of silver might mean something, too, but she didn't know what. It was so confusing, but...she felt like she believed him.
Which was a weird feeling in and of itself.
"...good. Well. Help me out here, then." Senara let Rep bend down before she tried to climb over his back, seating herself in the same way they'd done before and letting her legs be strapped in nice and tight. She wriggled a little, re-positioning her backpack to be on her front rather than behind her so it wouldn't get crushed between them. Last time she hadn't had a bag, so hopefully it wouldn't cause too much trouble. It did mean she didn't have the space to bend down and hide if she got frightened. And they were going to be flying in the dark, so even if she were able to see as well as anyone else... "Yeah, great, whatever. Let's get up there before I start to debate surfing the channel."
She squeezed her eyes shut, holding as tight to the straps as she could, and managed, this time, not to shriek as they took off into the night sky. But she did let out a muffled high-pitched whine all the way up. Look, she was trying, alright?
As Reptar broke into the air, Gabe gripped hard with his legs and leaned forward. However, Senara’s form ended up being pulled back, and the momentarily collision between her back and his chest had Gabe gasping and grimacing. A sharp low Arroian swear broke passed his lips as he leaned forward gripping against Rep harder. It was fine. It was fine. It was fine.
They were up in the air and sailing over the water in no time, and as the flight path smoothed out, Gabe let out a couple of easier breaths. Out across the darkness, he could only see the occasional movement, but he trusted Rep to know where he was going— where they were going. The move over was only about half full but was reflected along the channel’s waters well enough. It was… nice.
Her back pressed hard against Gabe as they climbed up, and for a moment through the rush of wind and her own muffled cry she heard him say something harshly just behind her ear. He sounded...hurt? Was the bag too heavy? Had it hurt when she'd leaned into him? Without opening her eyes--not until they were steady, so she didn't shriek--she turned her head just a little on her good side so he'd hear her better: "You alright??"
Senara felt the "tread" of their flight steadying, and only then did she open her eyes. Well, eye. The other was still behind the eye-patch and, of course, not really able to see. She looked down despite sense saying not to and let out a soft gasp. It was like there was nothing below them. No water, no waves, just a void of black reflecting the moon and stars. It made her dizzy to think about it--if she fell, she'd have absolutely no way of knowing how close the water was--but at the same time, it was something she had never seen before. Like the first flight above the shore, before...everything.
She was about to say something when she spotted something just below on the water, and a grin split her lips, a little wider from the rush of adrenaline. "Ah!" Releasing one of the bands for a second she pointed over the the side to the sea below, where deep in the dark water, a series of lights had started to swim past them. "Loupio and Lanturn!"
From where they were, it was impossible to tell which of the Chinchou line was lighting up the water below, but only that there was quite a number of them, likely only visible due to the dark of night and their being above the open sea. Senara giggled, delighted. She looked back up at Gabe with a bright grin...
Then stopped, corners of her mouth twitching down.
Dark. And not just the night sky. No, it's--something's--
"Is something wrong?"
Gabe Alim WC: 346 Obligatory cool Pokemon fact: Lanturn can be seen up to three miles deep!!
Gabe couldn’t answer Senara immediately. His teeth had grit to keep himself from biting the inside of his mouth, and now he couldn’t unclench his jaw. It was only as they leveled off that Gabe realized he wasn’t even breathing (and then obligatorily breathed). His head pounded. His chest and stomach ached. A shaky hand reached up for a place just below his chest and pressed fingers there. Against his clothes and the berating wind, he couldn’t tell if the dampness was from the air or from… They better not have torn…
He wasn’t even fully aware of what Senara was saying. Rep gave a grunt, though, so it had to have been something they were looking at but… Is something wrong? Gabe realized he’d been looking down and immediately looked upwards. A weird noise broke from him but was then blown back in his face by the wind. The hand that was against his shirt and jacket had clenched a little tighter. “F-fine… I’m…. f-fine…”
"Uh, obviously not? You're..." Senara turned herself as much as the straps around her legs and the angle of their bodies allowed, and could only see faintly the shine of something against the front of his shirt. His ring? His hand? Why was he holding his chest? Shit. Her voice ran away from her before she could reel it back in. "D-Did I hit you too hard? Gabe? Shit, I'm sorry, I didn't think this bag was that heavy..."
She wanted to make sure he was alright, or tell Reptar to drop down so she could be sure nothing important had bruised, but they wouldn't be able to from up here. Not 'til they reached Plum. Dammit, she wished she'd clipped a lamp or something to herself before take-off so she could see better, but beyond the moonlight--and his aura, which, strangely enough, did not create light despite its'...existence--there was nothing to help her see. She lifted the hand that had been pointing moments ago to as far behind her as it could go, placing her fingers against their shoulder.
"Hey, what's hurting? Do you need us to go back? Or find an island, or..."
She could undo the straps to turn around and make sure, but...but that would be...
