Yamper Swarm

Swarm Rules:

• To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
  
  
• You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
  
  
• Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
  
  
• Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee. 
  
  
• Swarms close at 11:59pm on the last day of each month. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of the following month to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.

"So what's a Yamper?" The smallish gardevoir inquired as she twirled ahead of the group looking back at the ranger with an inquisitive gaze. Elizabeth was looking through her pokedex to find the specified galarian species. She too was curious as to this unfamiliar pokemon.

"Well looks like it's an electric canine. It's a cute little thing, ah and its evolved form is Boltund." She explained though it seemed the gardevoir was already off on another tangent. Sini was an intelligent, if headstrong and freespirit, daydreamer so it was easy for the blue fairy to get distracted. Liz sighed and shook her head then patted the fiery canine beneath her. Ares shook his head, the fire dog's massive fluff flying with every movement. The ranger chuckled glad to be astride the warm arcanine in this weather. With the clouds overhead it was a fairly dreary day but at least it wasn't snowing or raining, even if still cold.

"You know this Boltund seems like the sort that'd give you a run for your money Ares." Liz teased with a chuckle. Ares pricked his ears and turned to eye the girl uncertainty. She winked at him and ruffled his mane. "I'm sure it'd never be able to outrun you though."

Raya was currently seated behind the ranger while Chisulo and Chani circled overhead keeping a lookout. Tansy lumbered along beside Ares not nearly as fast as the fire dog but quicker than most venusaur, especially one her size. Sini was the furthest ahead of the group, swaying side to side in her own little world.

From out the brush darted a streak of yellow and black. It slowed only for a moment as it passed allowing them to identify it as a boltund. Ares racing instinct was triggered and immediately the fiery canine shot forward, causing Raya to topple backward but Liz was able to grasp hold to his fur and hang on. Both canines bolted passed Sini nearly running the poor gardevoir over.

"Hey! Watch it!" She mentally shouted at the two canines. The gardevoir sighed and smoothed out her skirts.

"Sorry Raya! Sorry Sini!" Liz apologized before Ares carried her out of range of the others. From above Chisulo and Chani could see the pair racing down the route and breakneck speeds. "Stay there guys, we'll be back!" The ranger instructed not needing all her pokemon racing after them. They could all easily take care of themselves.

Liz hadn't quite been expecting a race of this degree but she knew to be ready for anything. She leaned forward close to Ares's neck, his mane whipping her in the face and making it difficult to see. However Ares was hot on the trail of the boltund and was gaining ground.

"Show her how it's done boy." The ranger encouraged as she clung tightly to the arcanine. Ares's whole body shifted a gear at her confirmation and the fire dog surged forward with even more speed. This however seemed to encourage the boltund to double her speed as well. Liz was unsure how far they'd traveled already but everything felt like a blur.

If she left the two to run they'd likely travel halfway across Arciel before they stopped. Both canines were well known for their stamina and wouldn't tire out anytime soon. The ranger reached for pack with one hand and dug around for a pokeball. She pulled out a yellow and blue quick ball and raised a brow. "Well that should definitely do the trick." And she lobbed it toward the boltund.

Gabe would be lying if he said he didn’t like Yamper. They were cute puppy Pokemon with the sweetest eyes and shortest legs. They were like compact Growlithe full of love and excitement. He’d seen the videos of them stomping with excitement now and again. Absolutely precious. He also liked their evolved forms. Boltund looked regal and strong when poised for battle but could also dissolve into that dopey look Yamper did. Priceless.

It helped that they were both Electric types as well and could shock away some Water problems with enough force. That was… also a large reason Gabe was out here searching for one that day despite the windy frigid conditions around him. Shoving his hands further into his pockets, he walked a little faster, his eyes searching for any trace of the Pokemon in question.

More dog Pokemon??? More dog Pokemon. Juni was enthralled despite herself. Hunter got along so well with Fetch that it was almost like they had been friends forever, and the old Growlithe seemed to be doing better these days with the Granbull at his side. Juni hoped in the back of her mind that it would stay that way, but she wasn’t above searching out yet another companion in the form of a Yamper or Boltund as well. Oh who was she kidding? She just thought the line was super cute, and the fact they were Electric Types made it cuter somehow. Like a shocking little sun or something.

She… had to remember this excitement as she found herself trudging out in the snow searching for one of these doggos. It was so so so so so cold and so so so so so so windy, and she kind of regretted being out here but also couldn’t bring herself to. Just find one… just find one… Red eyes flashed around searching.

[Adian Savage]

Adian wasn't here for his usual reason - the hunting of the rare colored pokemon, he was here on a mission to actually find a Yamper. Ever since he had seen them in a recent blog he was following he had fallen in love with the electric pup and absolutely had to have it for his team! The man reasoned it would even fit in perfectly with his newly hatched Shinx would needed a similar type pokemon to maybe keep it out of his clothing, not that he minded of course! It was just making keeping a camera around his neck difficult.

It was a bright and sunny day and Adian was practically jogging as he made his way through route seven, eyes darting back and forth in an effort to see a flash of yellow and tan.

Crunch crunch crunch crunch… The sound of something moving rapidly through the snow caught Gabe’s ears just in time for him to turn around and— “Fwah—“ Fwahmph… That was Gabe hitting the snow now staring nose to nose with a Boltund staring down at him. Well, that was one way to hunt down a member of this swarm— be its prey. Gabe’s lips parted, but what words he’d been about to say were suddenly drowned out by a sharp laugh that expelled itself from him as Gabe found a hot tongue licking him on all sides. “Ahahahah! Easy easy esay boy! Er…” Gabe shoved the Boltund’s muzzle a little away from his face as he tried to sit up. The Boltund just licked his hands instead. Oh gross. Hahahahahah!!!

Gabe grinned wildly as he pet the pooch. “Who’s a good boy? You’re a good boy!!” he rubbed the Boltund’s ears and face with both hands and then rubbed his face against the pup as well. The Boltund whined a little wanting to lick more but having to wait and be good. “Do you wanna play fetch?” Gabe asked slowly forcing himself to stand. The Boltund immediately began bouncing around him excitedly. Gabe grinned and fished out an empty Pokeball. “Go get it!” he called tossing it up. Or get caught by it….

Juni almost outright missed the Boltund standing there in the snow. It was not the happy yellow she had seen in Pokedex apps but rather a strikingly different shade of blue— electric blue. She took a double take only when it moved and then almost gasped upon seeing it. Her lips parted and then closed and immediately parted again. How regal looking. The Boltund, meanwhile, had already spotted the human but wasn’t too worried about it initially. Or rather, she didn’t care too much to get up just yet….

That was, at least, until Juni came running up to it. The Boltund’s ears pulled against her head. Juni saw the sign but couldn’t even stop herself. “You’re gorgeous!” Not exactly the sunny yellow she wanted but it didn’t matter. Reaching up to rub the Boltund’s face and ears, Juni grinned. “I wonder what sort of allele shift this was… your coat is so vastly different but I wonder if it has to do with the snowy terrain right now…”

She went on like that for a while, and the Boltund’s ears pressed against her skull. Too loud. She was getting up and moving away. “Hey wait!” Juni called already fishing out a Pokeball and releasing Pyre. “Don’t let it get away! Flame Charge!” she called. Pyre was quick to kick off in a burst of flames. The Boltund yelped at being hit and then immediately got up again. So she was going to fight? Fine.

They clashed a bit with the Boltund Crunching down on Pyre a couple of times only to receive a Double Kick to the jaw for it thereafter. Finally, though, the Boltund seemed weakened enough that Juni tossed a Pokeball.

No sooner had the ball drawn in the Boltund, it broke open again and she caught it in her mouth. Immediately shaking it to shreds, the Boltund bounced around before bringing the torn remains of the Pokeball over to Gabe. Gabe… was honestly equal parts irrigated and endeared. Damn she was so cute wasn’t she? “Who’s a good girl? You are…. You are…” Gabe rubbed her muzzle and ears a couple of times thereafter before fishing out another Pokeball and tossing it. “Go get it!” And hopefully get caught this time.

Gabe… slowly deadpanned as the Boltund broke from yet another Pokeball and then immediately tore it to shreds. That was two for two. Was she just messing with him? Did she belong to some other trainer who was having a laughing fit right then because of all this? Gabe bit the inside of his mouth as he approached.

“Here girl… c’mere….” he called, and she quickly came bounding back over to him again, tail wagging. He rubbed her ears and muzzle a bit and looked around slowly. He… didn’t see anyone. “You are wild aren’t you?” he asked looking her back in the eyes only to be licked in response. Gabe snorted and pet her a little more before deciding that was a good enough response. Fishing out a Premier ball this time, he pressed it to her instead hoping to at least keep her from shredding it this time if it failed.

It wasn't that Senara wasn't a dog person--she liked canines just fine.  It was just that over the last few months she had amassed far more feline-esque Pokemon (and straight-up cats) than expected, and it was making her out to be far less dog loving than she really was.  She liked them fine!  So hearing about a swarm of..."Yamper" made her head south towards the same route she'd caught Neigeux on not to long ago.  Just a wee bit less chilly and more cloudy than then. The real question was how to catch a Yamper.  Her trusty Steelix had an immunity to its electric attacks, but he was kind of enormous and might scare the puppers away.  She'd ridden him up most of the route before calling him back, ready to use him nonetheless.  First, though, she just had to find the little buggers. Man, did they make squeak-toys for Pokemon?  She should have invested in one, if they did.  That would probably lure them out by the dozens.  Or she could just find a stick. @mods WC:  186 Catching this so I can catch a Bulbasaur xD

No sooner had he had that slightly guilty thought of passing off his newly hatched Shinx to another pokemon that he found that particular pokemon right before him! And if by the fate's particular sense of humor he would stumble forward just a bit, dropping his pokeballs from his pocket. And again, as if the fates were out to have a giggle Shinx would explode in a flash of red light, take one look around herself, shiver, and leap expertly into the collar of his shirt, nestling herself down with only her eyes peering past the collar.

Adian considered himself lucky as he scooped up the fallen pokeballs, that not only was Shinx tiny, but none of his other team had managed to break free of their balls. While he cleaned up and realigned his clothing to safely store the Yamper he had stumbled upon had simply sat down on his haunches and looked up curiously at Adian.

Looking down at the Yamper now that he had finished fixing himself, the pokemon seemed to smile happily up at him and his initial plan battle it into submission seemed like an after thought. "Hey big guy," Adian cooed happily, "You're a good Yamper, aren't ya?" He continued, voice baby like as he had done with many of the canine types he'd run across in his life. It was automatic, something he had picked up living on a ranch as a kid.

The electric type would stand, yipping happily at the comments. Shinx too would begin to murmer and yip along, clearly enjoying the company of the Yamper and her trainer's boo-boo talking. His original thoughts came back to his head. Hadn't Adian come here in an effort to find a companion for his normally chilly girl? And the dog like pokemon before them seemed pretty happy to meet them?

"Trust me Shinx," Adian said, reaching into his shirt and expertly pulling Shinx from it, placing her on the ground before Yamper. As her paws hit the ground Shinx shivered but she remained cheerful as the Yamper approached her, sniffing her gently before licking along her cheek.

Before long the pair were chattering away as Adian stood back and watched, noting closely how much Shinx would shiver before eventually popping the question. "So Yamper, would you care to join us? You can hang with Shinx everyday. Maybe help teach her a thing or two?" He asked, pulling the great ball from his pocket and holding it out, letting the pokemon decide the next move.
