It was slightly closer to the midday. A boy is pushing a trolley full of materials. It's an unorthodox job for someone as young as thirteen years old (soon to be fourteen), all thing considered, but should you know the boy, the son of a farm owner down the road, you will understand why he's here. At first, the foreman isn't sure either what to feel about a kid, only thirteen, coming up to him asking for a job... He thought the difference between farmwork and construction site is different, but the boy just shrugged and say that it's pretty much the same.
"So what for you do this job?" the foreman asked to the kid.
"Well, for one, I need money, sir. I'm going to travel around the region... and I don't think my family is in condition to give me any sort of pocket money. We're pretty much half submerged in debt.. but my father told me that it's not a child's job to worry about the family's debt... But even so, I don't want to burden them."
"This job his harsh, you know? You're going to transport a lot of materials. I don't expect you to lay the bricks and such, but for you to be working here, you must have the physical strength and stamina."
Suddenly the boy's eyes brightened as if the man said something he already expected. "...I'm plenty strong."
He at first thought the boy was just going to use his Pokemon or something, but nope, here he is... Agate is pushing materials with trolley. While not as strong as most adult workers in the site, he did manage to prove that he's strong enough after all. But until when can that optimism stay? Time to find out.

God God, thought the foreman as he watched this kid just move stuff around with not only excellent strength but good form. It looks like you're off to an awesome start!
Whee! That feels good! There's something he admit about really liking when it comes to adults spittaking and unsure of what they're seeing... well, considering what he have done, he understood why! But even then it was really fun! It gives him a good mood boost! Yay yay! At any rate, after dumping a cement sack to the ground and poured the content, Agate mixed it as ordered.
"When I first heard that a kid is going to offer a helping hand, I was worried and thought... "what kind of nonsense going on in the chief's head?" But when i saw you doing all that feat, all my fear felt unfounded! You're doing great, aren't you, kid?" a worker told him.
"Heh, well this much is given! All farmboys must be tough!" Agate answered. "Anyway, what should I do next?"
"Hmm, next eh? Think you're up to lifting that stack of wood blocks over there? Just lift the lighter ones, and don't harm yourself is all!"
"Hmmm, those?" Agate looked at the stack of beams made out of wood. If he recalls correctly, those are for foundation aren't they? "Where to?" he asked.
"See that red clothed man over there? You go there. Just poke him. If you don't have enough strength to do it, you can get your Pokemon to help."
Well, that would be dandy, but even so, he's doing this in mean to train himself on top of getting the money... So he feel like asking Riku for help would be a bit... Eh well. For now, how about testing it himself? Agate walked toward the stack of woodblocks, making sure they won't roll over... and then picked the one on the top...
You lift it easily! And walk over to the man in the red shirt. He shows you where to put it down and asks you to order them a certain way...... Another manly man sees you... and flexes in solidarity.
Uwoh, talk about lucky! It's actually far easier than Agate thought! Is it some sort of endemic species to Arciel perhaps? One that is lighter despite its size? Either way, Agate carried it toward the man in red shirt. He looked amazed... eh? Well, Agate repeated his feat about eight more times, arranging it as instructed. When he secured it with a rope, the red clothed man approached him.
"Kid, you're pretty strong for your size, aren't you!"
"Hmm? Ah," Agate sheepishly scratches his cheek. "Many said that, but I don't think I'm all that amazing! But it did feel great to be able to lift those wooden beams! I mean, they looked like they weighted a lot, but when I lifted it it doesn't feel all that heavy!"
"What? ...Well, I mean... Kid, do you got those super strength thing? Uh, what was my daughter called it," the red shirted man tried to remember... "...but anyway, do you have any hidden power or something?"
"Mmm? No? I'm just lifting it up normally. Is it wrong?"
"That block there... it weight thirty kilograms at least! Geez, kid!"
"...Thir..." Agate's mind blanked a bit. ...Could it be that he's stronger than he's expecting? That's when he noticed a man, who saw all his feat, and flexed at him. Ohoh? Is he being acknowledged? Agate returned the flex, earning few laugh from the workers there. "Well, looks like you're doing great! Alright, next... Why don't you clear debrises around here? There are rocks that need to be transported out of the site. You looks strong, so how about it?"
"Where are they?" Agate asked.
"Ooh, I like your spirit there! No hesitation huh? Come to the side of the house. You'll find it. They're jagged and not as round as the stones we're using for the houses."
And so, Agate goes to that spot, finding the pile of rocks. Obviously he'll put the on the trolley and move it away. As strong as he is, he's not sure he could lift them easily and lug them around... Or should he try? (lol)
You lift it! WITH THE STRENGTH TO PIERCE THE HEAVENS! And a couple of the guys stop what they're doing to turn and look at you. One of them says to be careful, but it looks like you've got this.
On the second though, he shouldn't have actually lifted it overhead like that. Agate was really embarrassed about it, and instead opted to put the rocks on his trolley immediately. He... inadvertedly gathered some attention to himself. One person in particular told him to be careful... Aaagh, dammit! He was on cloud nine after all those praises, and now he's getting ahead of himself! How mortifying... how embarrassing! Agate steered the trolley toward the assigned dumping spot. He repeated this process several times, until finally he's done with it. Whew! By nature, he supposedly already done enough, but... In his opinion, he can go further! Let's see...
"Is there is anything that I can do?" he returned to the foreman.
"O-ooh..." ...huh? Is it him or this guy sounded sort of nervous? "Actually there is. How about you transport the bricks? They're less heavy than the rocks from before, but it's still pretty heavy."
"Oh sure, I'll be doing that right away!"
"...By your bare hand?"
"Eh?"
"N-no, nevermind, hahaha!"
...What? What's wrong even? Is it really strange, his strength feats so far? Ah well, whatever. Time to go to lift the brick. He noticed that these bricks aren't ones that used to build the house, nope. These are ones used to pave the driveway, or at times entrance toward the house. They're big, and heavy definitely... This time around perhaps he shouldn't make fun of it and just like that do something... more natural. "Where should I bring these again?" Agate asked before he lifted it.
"Oh, you're that crazy strong kid, eh? Just put them near the front door! To its left!"
"To the left, path to the front door?" he asked for clarification.
Looks like not being hammy for once helped! Agate definitely is happy about it all thing considered. He began lifting the entryway bricks, making sure that he would not let it slip or anything, and put it to the trolley. He would then put it in a stack on the place told to him. Whew! Tough job isn't actually the ones where you have to lift the heaviest thing around. It's the repeating action that is making it hard for him to work. Well, it's not really that much of a problem. He just feel he need to take a break soon from the heavy lifting though. Pace himself, so that he could do more work in the end.
"Say, is there any lighter job for the meantime?" Agate asked the foreman. Something telling him that the Foreman seem all too happy to give him lighter job though! His expression when he asked about a harder job versus a lighter job is a bit different. Could it be that the man is actually worried about him? In a way, Agate is very thankful.
"Well, then, how about you distribute those? Those bricks are far lighter than those you handled. There is no need to lift them or anything, just stack them in a trolley, deliver them to the guys who's currently building the wall and you'll be done! Pretty much that. But careful, you got to stack them in a certain way so they won't fall while you push them.
So this time around, a job that needs him to stack things up huh.... fine with him.
"Sure, I'll get to it."
Agate looked for brick stacks, reddish in color. They're definitely far lighter than the bricks used to pave the entryway just now. Time to stack them, and get them to the workers!

Well, stacking bricks and delivering them to the workers aren't bad at all! He could deliver it, take it easy and rest his arms. His shift is... about halfway done he think? He need to do several more things, but he probably should keep up this pace of resting a bit, then do a bit more work later... Agate stopped to take a break under shade of a tree.
"Good work, kid!" the red shirted man from before approached him, handing him a bottle of electrolyte water and sandwich. "Eat lightly for the meantime. You're doing great so far! Say, what about working permanently for us?"
"Ahaha, I think I'll pass, mister! But if I'm around then probably I'll lend a helping hand again. There are not that many fitness center around here, huh."
"Not like you need one with the amount of work you're doing. Don't tell me you're doing this to train yourself?"
Agate just grinned and ate his sandwich. "Oh, cheese and smoked beef... also lettuce and tomato huh. That's quite a packed meal."
"Right? If you're still growing, you best eat a lot! Our company doesn't pinch penny when it comes to three things! Quality, Safety, and Wellfare! Food is wellfare, so you can eat as much as you like! Provided that you're working! Don't eat too much though, you'll vomit when you start working and your body going to get all heavy."
"Yeah, got it." After downing two more sandwiches, Agate stretched himself. He's not even comfortably full, but he remembered that he need to work again. It's best to work with stomach half full than overate. "Say, can I do lighter works still?"
"Yeah, that's fine. I think you can help around pushing sack of sands to the cement mixing area, that's light enough for you?"
"That sounds fine!"
And so, Agate sprang to his feet and returned back to work. He guess next he probably should ask how to lay bricks on wall or something?
You are indeed asked to lay some bricks! A superviser explains the pattern you need to go in which includes being very careful about making a right hand turn exact at the wall's end. Nothing you can't handle, though, right?
Well, there's that! With him carrying the bricks, suddenly a supervisor saw him, just as he wiped off some of his sweats with his cloth.
"Hey, kid, are you free at the moment?" the man with red safety hat asked.
"Me? Well, I am. I'm doing light things for the meantime, but how can I help you, sir?"
"Light things eh? Perfect. Here, I want you to try laying bricks. You got the cement mixing ready too, so that's just perfect! So, how about it?"
"Sure, I don't think it would be too hard, right?"
Agate carried two bucket worth of cements and observed the supervisor as he explained how to lay the bricks, how to put cements to glue them together, and how put them together. He also told Agate to watch for the level of the bricks, and to make sure it's even. Here hoping he won't screw up... Agate put on gloves to prevent his hand to get dirty from the cement, then starts laying the brick. He hoped he did this right... But it should be, right?
Just when Agate was about to put a cement on top of the brick rows that he just laid, he suddenly noticed. "...Hmmm?" one of the brick stuck in strange manner, or more like... it's flattened more compared to the rest? ...Eeehhh what happened? When the supervisor looked at it, he laughed instead of being angry? Eh? Eh? Agate looked at the brick, back to the supervisor, and back to the brick again, like a child not knowing what he did wrong, but did know he done a mistake. This expression apparently made the supervisor laugh even louder before he pat Agate through his safety hat.
"You're using too much power to lay the brick, so you're squeezing the cement out. That's why it's out of alignment. Don't worry. Have it dried?"
Have it? Agate tried to push the brick, which thankfully came lose. "Then clean it up, afterward try to scrape the old one, add new mortar and this time try to make it even. Have you put enough mortar for the vertical filling? Make sure you do!"
"Right, will do."
"Hahaha! You don't have to be so tense! For someone so strong looks like you got a weakness of your own eh?"
That honestly made Agate blush in embarrassment... He can't mess this time around. He need to set things right.
And now he managed to do it in orderly fashion! He's quite happy with the result. The supervisor looked quite satisfied too. "Hmm, not bad for someone who did it for the first time!" he praised. "You might need to be more dexterous before you could lay the bricks in desirable speed, but this is definitely not bad. Would you like to try again sometimes?"
"Ahaha, probably if I'm not chased by time," Agate admitted. "It's interesting, but I'm not cut out for detailworks. I might try more when the time comes though!"
"Is that so? Well, don't worry and keep practicing, maybe you'll get there one day! But first do something about that strength of yours! Hmmm, are you recovered enough?"
"Yeah, I am. How can I help you?"
"Think you can lift a sledgehammer, kiddo?"
...Sledgehammer? Uh... Agate have no idea what on earth will happen... But hey, that sounded interesting enough! He asked to be shown the spot where the sledgehammer is. Well, here goes nothing. He lifted it, and found the weight to be comfortable enough. "So what should I do with this?"
"Well, we have a project still... but the idea is you're to destroy rocks around the garden area of the houses... these."
The supervisor pointed at the rocks around the garden. Agate squinted. How come...?
"Apparently there were naughty Rock Type Pokemons playing around here before the house were built, and they often use this spot to gather rocks... When the house is about to be built, they doesn't quite... get the memo so to say, so they returned last night. There's no helping it, but we have to destroy them to liftable size, and get them out of here... Can you do it?"
"Well, I guess I'll do it..."
Agate lifted the hammer and... swung it down! WC: 305 wFcv_oRI Agate's Strength: 15
Welp, all in all heavy work done! Now, he just need to move these all, right? Back to square one with the trolley and the rocks... lifting it up, put it on the trolley, then dump it on place already set before. Now with that clean though... What should he do next? "Oh, hey, you're here!" the supervisor approached him again. "Nice timing, but could you perhaps help with setting a door?"
"Eeeh!? Me!? But I thought I told you I'm bad at it!" Agate lamented.
"That's alright, that's alright. It's all experience isn't it? Plus if you did it wrong, we can just correct it no problem!"
"...Are you sure?"
"I'm sure. The thing is though, the door is a bit heavy, so you should be careful, alright? There will be someone who'll help you."
Someone, huh... Agate looked at where the door is. "Excuse me, is this the door that supposed to be installed?" he asked a man who's leaning near a tree. He... doesn't look pleasant for some reason.
"What? Door? Oh yeah. What about it? Where's the guy who's going to install it?"
"Actually, I'm--"
"...What, a kid? You must be joking... Whatever, just install it yourself. Here, a book, work it out yourself."
...What's even his problem? Agate just looked at him, bewildered. Unlike the rest, isn't he a bit too hostile? Eh well. For the meantime, let's lift the door, and see what he can do then. Agate called his Riolu, Riku, to hold up the door while he browsed the book. Following the instruction on the book, and on top of it watches a DIY series on how to set the door, Agate began his installation... hoping to succeed no matter what. If he got time to be hostile, might as well as helping him, geez!
You managed to get the door in place! (It's a little of center but no one will notice, right?) Right, though, you should probably oil those hinges so the door stops squeaking, though.
