Agate looked dumbfounded when Josh made what seemed like the quickest Pokémon catch he had ever seen in his life. "That type of Poké Ball is a specialty one as well," he began to explain while retrieving his catch and sending it back to the Lab. "Some specialty Poké Balls not only care about what you catch, but how you catch it. That was a Quick Ball - it only works on a wild Pokémon right away. They don't work well at all if you take the time to fight. Ponyta are really skittish Pokémon in the wild and generally would flee instead of fight. With this, I was able to catch it before it fled."
Ponyta were prized as mounts for all purposes, but ironically were not good for Federation races on all but simple tracks. Travel was the number one reason - most Rapidash were large enough to carry two people and were amazing distance runners. While they were primarily high-performance Pokémon, a well-trained endurance Rapidash could run faster than it was legal to drive on the highway, and for a long time at that. Provided one had a team of Rapidash to swap out every couple of hours, it would be possible for a traveler to cover hundreds of miles in a day.
While Josh was making adjustments to Twilight's riding tack after getting a couple of complaints from her, it appeared Agate had won quite the hard-fought battle with another trainer about his age. Josh, on the other hand, was focused on avoiding a battle - after jumping back on his Absol, the two noticed an Ursaring on all fours, walking very close to the road.
Twilight started chattering constantly to make her presence known - the best way to leave a close encounter with Ursaring unharmed was to let it know you were there. The wild stared at Josh as he and his dark-type passed, the boy's eyes shifting to a husk of a building about a mile or two north of town. "Hey, I need to make a pit stop over there before we enter town," Josh requested of Agate, pointing to an abandoned race track near the building he was looking at before.

"W-well, I mean, I know how that worked!" Agate commented, but he definitely did not know the principle behind it. At any rate, oh look! A rock! Let's see how he fare against it?

That aside, Josh seems to fixing the saddle or something... Agate isn't quite well versed in Pokemon Riding. His farm does not have any rideable Pokemons... he only remembered that there are some Wooloos (imported from Galar), Dubwool (Wooloo evolved) and Miltanks... They have chickens around because they felt weird about rearing Blisseys. They're more for nursing Pokemons after all, rather than... for eggs! If only there are more avian Pokemons that can produce eggs, that's probably better...
...And then there's an Ursaring. Taaaalk about sudden. Agate was sweating... but thankfully it decided to leave them alone. Whew! Hmm, so Josh want to make a pit stop somewhere? "Su--"
But before he could reply that in full, Riku suddenly stepped forward. "...What is it, Riku?" Agate asked. That's when he saw... something bright, something that is similar in color with Riku's, but at the same time different... Josh might notice that the boy's eyes glowed slightly as this happened... although he most likely won't be able to see what Agate is seeing.
"...Riku?"
For once he barked, as if telling him to heal him. Heal...? Agate rummaged his bag for any spare potions... ones that he stashed in case of emergency like this. He quickly sprayed it to Riku's wounds, healing it rather instantly. Riku walked further... until the two of them met. That's when Agate noticed that the one on the front is a Lucario!
"...A Lucario... here?" Agate can't believe it. Why is it here? "...Riku, what does it w--"
The Lucario looked at him, directly at him. Not at Riku, not at Josh or his Pokemons. Him. It made Agate shudder slightly. There's some shift in colors... Josh might be able to see it now, that the Lucario is trying to communicate using its aura. On its fist, a red color swirling like a drill made of light... a challenge?
Riku dashed forward, paws balled into fist. He struck the Lucario squarely on the chest with a Sky Uppercut! It's super effective! But without doubt, the Lucario did not back down. In fact, she immediately countered! The counter struck Riku's solar plexus, dealing double damage than what he dealt. The fighting attack was super effective, and this made it even worse! The Riolu coughed, heaving.
"RIKU!"
A sharp bark from Riku stopped him. He stood, wobbly, but stood up... The Riolu gritted his teeth in anger. The Lucario meanwhile seem to approve this. Both combatant once again assumed an attacking stance. Riku... Will Riku be alright? He's fighting against a fully evolved Pokemon...
Another snarl from Riku. The Lucario used Aura Sphere! He ran, despite his wobbly feet, he ran, to strike the opponent with another Sky Uppercut! It hits its target, sending the Lucario skidding backward But at that moment, Agate noticed there are some strange movement from the Lucario-- Is that... is she trying to heal herself!?
Instinctively, the boy grabbed a Nest Ball and tossed it to the Lucario!
While the Pokeball temporarily contained the Lucario, Agate used another potion. That makes it two! Mod notes: Used two potions to heal Riku! Used Nest Ball! Agate's Party:
"Specialty Poké Balls are something you should carry on you if you can get ahold of them for a decent price," Josh continued. "If you're after a certain kind of Pokémon, they can be especially useful. When we get to the Pokémon Center, I can actually send you some notes I compiled about all the kinds of specialty ones I've used. You'll thank me later." Just as he and Twilight were about to take off, Josh turned around and guided the Absol back to Agate's side. "Hey, can we exchange numbers real quick? I need to go my own way for a bit. When I'm done, I'll wait by the north gate for you. Shouldn't be longer than an hour."
Once he said his goodbye, Josh made his way to an abandoned race track's ticket booth. Dismounting, he took the stairs down, each stair to the building's basement creaking as he stood on it. Swinging open a hidden door at the bottom of the staircase, red cat eyes stared him down, the young man unflinching. Flipping a switch, light filled a large room, the eyes just the glowing part of a realistic-looking wall painting of his favorite legendary Pokémon.
Saber and Illumina were there, each relaxing while hooked up to a large, industrial-grade battery, discharging excess electricity. The two sounded cries. "Hey!" Josh waved back, checking to make sure nothing had been disturbed. Everything was as normal. Both of the batteries appeared to be fully charged. "Thanks - gonna come pick you up in town." Josh disconnected the two electric Pokémon from the conduits, then deposited them into their Poké Balls and uploaded them into the computer system for withdrawl in town. Once he was finished, he switched the lights off and closed the door, Twilight awaiting with her typical blank stare. "Sorry for the wait - Agate's probably already at the gate." He swung back aboard the white-furred dark-type. "Let's go!" At that, she raced toward the north gate.
Both Agate and Riku could not stop holding their breath. It was... intense, in many way. The Lucario who they couldn't defeat just now... has given up. Or perhaps, purposely let herself get caught. It was barely too... he could have sworn that the Pokeball creaked a bit as it shook. When it sat completely still, Agate sighed in relief. Josh seem to be in hurry. Well, that's fine with him. "Sure, here's my number... and he watched as the older guy just like that left."
Huh, probably something important. Agate suddenly noticed that his eyes are... still seeing things. Riku is blue, Schera is silver, Kagari is red and fiery... Azalea is bubbly blue with gloomy feeling inside... Vorpal is icy blue, yet warm at the same time, a paradox. He wondered if these images are more like a visual cues for his feeling toward them or something... and suddenly his eyes landed on the Charmander's Pokeball... The light is fading.
Agate looked at Riku, who had no idea what's going on, but regardless was able to sense the boy's distress. Agate did not wait. He immediately ran as best as he could. Adrenaline pumping in his system. He need to get to Ash as soon as possible! He did not care anymore whether he have to expand all of his energy or making his legs doing all the work, but... well, let's just say that Agate pretty much gone off road to cut the travel time needed. He could feel his feet hurting from his shoes sole being so thin... He could feel the hard rock pressing against his feet soles.
But even so, he did not stop. He had no idea whether his feet is bleeding or not. All in his mind is to ensure how this little one ended up safe and sound. The moment he saw the gate of the town, Agate's footsteps did not slow down. If anything, he ran faster. He did not stop even to look for the direction. Instead, he tossed Schera's Pokeball up, and issued an order for her to find the red roof of the Pokemon Center. He only could hope that it was only a visual hallucination rather than some sort of omen of something dangerous that will come. Agate ran following Schera. The moment the right turned red, he immediately crossed. He could feel his body slowly giving up from the pain. He can feel his body asking him to stop this abuse, yet... None of those mattered.
He braked, right in front of the building. He has arrived. End. Increasing Stamina for all running that Agate did.
