It was a sunny day in May when Sawyer found himself approaching Professor Holly’s lab. He hoisted his backpack up a bit as he thought about what lay ahead for him. If he was to protect his stolen egg, he needed a pokemon partner and he had heard that the Professor could help provide him with one. He had also heard that she may be a bit icy and that wasn’t just from the pokemon partners she kept, so he would have to turn up the charm if he wanted the best out of her.
Upon approaching the scientist's lair on the outskirts of town, Sawyer decided he would give the place a once over. He wanted to make sure he could get out fast if things went sideways. One could never be sure if the news of his thievery had traveled this far and it was a good habit to keep. He crept along the walls of the expansive laboratory, using his aura sight to avoid the detection of other people and pokemon. While noting the various windows and doors as potential exits, he noted all the valuable pokemon the Professor had on her property and his eyes sparkled with the possibility. All the various auras and emotions of the pokemon were interesting to Sawyer but not as interesting as what was to come, so he hoisted the bag with his stolen egg and turned back to the front door to greet Professor Holly. He knocked twice before opening the door and entering with a loud, “Hello?”

A lab assistant was behind a desk when Sawyer entered. She quickly checked the time, greeted him, and asked if he had an appointment. Thereafter, she led him back to the back where Professor Holly actually was pouring over some notes while standing at a high bench table. As the assistant called, she turned, registered the guest, and adjusted her glasses. “You must be Sawyer Allen, I have your choices here,” she stated turning to a shelf and grabbing a Pokeball case. Enlarging three Pokeballs, she released their contents for him to see. Professor Holly opens the Pokeballs...

Sawyer flashed the assistant a large grin as he entered. He acknowledged that he did have an appointment and followed her back through the foyer to Professor Holly. He thanked the assistant with a short nod as she left. Sawyer then turned to smile widely at the scientist as she began to speak to him and reveal his three pokemon choices. Finally. The moment he had been waiting for. Remembering the rare egg in this possession, he hoisted the backpack protectively and moved towards the Professor and the newly released pokemon. Professor Holly’s stare was cold as she waited for him to hurry up and make a decision so she could get back to her notes. Sawyer assumed she was annoyed with his presence due to her resting bitch face and cut-to-the-chase attitude.
The pokemon she presented were a different matter. The scientist presented two psychic types, as per Sawyer's request, and one electric. The first was an electric-type, Elekid, that could have fit in the palm of Sawyer’s hand! In fact, he nearly sat on it when he was admiring the psychic types. For this, he earned himself a Thunder Shock to the rear. The second was a large psychic/normal type, Oranguru, the size of King Kong. The third was a quiet Meditie, that proceeded to watch the event with interest.
After Sawyer had exchanged pleasantries with Professor Holly, realizing any further flirtation with her was pointless, he realized someone else's voice was in his head besides his own! “Please get me out of this place. It’s sooooo boring here.” He looked around before locking eyes with the Oranguru, who seemed to be waving its fanned leaves at him. “Yoohoo, over here pretty boy. Yeah, you. Now listen. I’ve been stuck here for what seems like forever and there’s just not that much to do around here, ya dig? That Slowking is always competing with me and I’ve had it up to here! So take me out of this smelly ol’ lab. Whatcha say?” This entire time she had been speaking into his head, he had been trying not to look nervous as this pokemon seems to try to flirt its way into his party.
Sawyer turns his attention away from the chatty Oranguru without giving her an answer, he hears the call of “Hey! Come back here and talk to me! We can work this out!...” drifting behind him as he approaches the pokemon who’s head reminds him of the shape of a clove of garlic. As he kneels down he feels an overwhelming sadness which nearly makes him weep. Then Meditite begins to meditate and the feeling of sadness begins to slip away and be replaced with contentment. Sawyer didn’t know when he had begun to cry, all he knew was this was the pokemon for him and that they would have an incredible bond. He hugs the Meditite tight to his breast and exclaims, “Professor Holly! This is the pokemon for me!”

Holly watched careful as the trainer picked his new partner. The Oranguru did come off a little forcefully and to her detriment there as it were. The Meditite, a calm and quiet Pokemon by contrast, would be chosen. “Very well. Be sure to give him a proper name,” Holly answered returning the other two Pokemon and returning them to the case. Walking to grab a box, she pulled it down from the shelf and handed it to him. “I have prepared some supplies for your journey. Do you have any questions for me at this time?”

Sawyer quickly released his new companion as Professor Holly spoke, nodding up at her and smiling a broad smile that seemed to say “Of course! I got this!” Sawyer readjusted his glasses as he looked down at his meditite and considered a name for his new friend. The quiet, understanding pokemon just watched him with curiosity, giving no indication of what lay behind his eyes. This made Sawyer think of the quote “The eyes are the windows to the soul.” “Mr. Glass,” he told Professor Holly as he pulled off his pack and began to root around inside, careful to block the contents with his body. “That’s his name,” he said as he found a pink bow tie in the bottom of the pack and tied it around the meditite’s neck. The meditite handled Sawyer’s eccentricities quite well. The newly dubbed Mr. Glass head-tilted as he was dressed. He then fingered his new accessory but accepted this with the same quiet curiosity he had portrayed since Professor Holly had released him from his pokeball. Sawyer straightened, examined his new companion with a grin and turned that smile on Professor Holly. “No ma’am. I don’t have any questions. Thank you very much.” He gathered his supplies and exited with his new friend in tow.
