Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
It was quite the reach for Agate, too, having to stretch his arm quite a bit to scratch the Entei-sized Pyroar's chin. He appreciated it, approving with another affectionate purr. "...We're not actually that far from mine," Josh answered, gently tugging on his mount to follow the slight left turn in the road - straight ahead led to private property. Probably one of the farmers. "Maybe I should show you around. There's something I've been hoping to earn with my winnings from racing. It sounds really vain, but I want one so badly."
By the time he waited for Agate to ask what "it" was, there was a large swarm of both Bonsly and Budew, featuring alphas Sudowoodo and Roselia, in the trainers' way. While it would be simple for Aslan to light all the grass-types on fire, Josh wasn't going to pass on the opportunity to feed his metal bird's desires. After all, she was a Steel and Flying type - even taking on a large group of Budew and Roselia would be no trouble at all in theory. He grabbed the Skarmory's Poké Ball. "Bladestorm, all yours!" From the Poké Ball emerged a shriek, the three Budew shivering in fear of the metal menace that now had her sights on them.
Josh was mesmerized watching this killing machine fight - she was so speedy and sliced through grass-types with her Air Slash so efficiently. The blades of her wings sounded like resonating tuning forks as they built the blades of air the species was so well-known for attacking with. She went after the easy prey first, swooping above the Budew and just barely missing the snatch. Her air blades would do a lot of work for her, though, clipping the grass-type's overgrown leaves quite nicely. As she went in for a second attack, the three smaller Pokémon braced themselves for impact, generating a cloud of spores around the injured Budew. Forced to fly into the cloud a second time to knock out the first of the three Budew, the spores started to weigh down her wings.
It was a drawn out battle, the Skarmory's Air Slashes weakened due to his mobility, but the Budew could barely pierce her armor. In time, all three of them fell. A cruel reality was to set in for Bladestorm, though - the Budew served as a distraction to buy enough time for the Roselia to grow...and grow...and grow...all the way to the Skarmory's height. The other Roselia, likewise, was up to no good - it had been planting toxic thorns all across the battlefield, even reaching all the way to Aslan. It was going to be impossible for such a large Pokémon to avoid stepping on them. Josh would be okay because he wore shoes, but the Pyroar on the other hand...
As Bladestorm was diving down onto one of the Roselia, the defender released an array of leaves that alternated colors between maroon and green, homing in on their target as though the leaves were heat-seeking. Thanks to their massive size, they were easily able to pierce the Skarmory's tough armor. Hearing another shrill cry from the steel-type, Josh recalled her and carefully slid off, making sure to land where the thorns were least dense. "Alright, Aslan, charge!"
The Pyroar's mane fully ignited, the flames similar to a Rapidash's burning mane but shaped distinctly different. It easily rammed and trampled down the Roselia already weakened from Bladestorm's Air Slash. Seeing what the Pyroar could do, the last Roselia scampered away. Aslan crouched, looking like he was going to give chase before Josh stopped him. "Let him go," the trainer instructed. While he wasn't happy, the jungle king did as he was told. Josh recalled his Pokémon, letting the fire-type back out on the other side of the battleground, well away from the thorns. "Can you sit down and show me your paws?" Again, the large lion did as asked. They were covered in Roselia thorns - green and red. It looked painful! "Hey Agate, can you give me a hand with this? There's so much..."

Why is it that their talk is always interrupted? But this time around, Agate's eyes widened at the sight of not just one, or two Pokemons... But an entire horde!? What's even going on here!? No time to talk though. Rutile definitely wanted to fight, but seeing just how many Pokemons there are, she doubted that she could fight ANY of them! The Rockruff immediately hides behind her trainer's leg, whining slightly at the sight of this horde.
Riku on the other hand immediately jumped in to fight. He prepared his stance. Accompanying him, Randgris, despite her weakness to Rock, then Azalea and finally Durandal. Four against five. Riku was the first to charge ahead, fighting against the highest leveled Bonsly, while Durandal launched himself at one of the weaker one. Randgris instead took another weakest one. Azalea immediately took two, considering she's the one of the strongest fighter of the team! Riku barked an order at the rest, which seem to release the party's limiter to certain extent. They have trained before! Their body were sore, but now that soreness is gone enough, they could use their true power soon!
Riku begin the fight with a Sky Uppercut, his favorite move, dealing a supereffective move! His increased strength rattled the Bonsly enough for him to reduce it to critical health. The Bonsly attempted to follow up with Rock Tomb, but Riku immediately dodged, and followed with Metal Claw, ending the fight!
Randgris would be in a struggle. She would repeatedly do sand attack while avoiding Rock Throw as best as she could. Rock Throw from her opponent would be having harder time to hit her. And as a plus, Durandal immediately casted Wide Guard the moment an attack was about to hit her. It however, hits him. Now that she was prepared enough, Randgris would began using Pluck on her opponent. It wouldn't do as much but it's her most damage dealing ability for the meantime. After around five to six Pluck, she finally won!
Durandal, who were hit by the Rock Tomb was not pleased, but being part Metal, it does not damage him as much. He immediately raised his attack with sword dance. then attacked the Bonsly with Shadow Sneak while mostly ignoring its Rock Throw (it does hurt though!) It goes smoother than Randgris' battle at the very least, and soon he won.
...As for Azalea? It was... quite the spectacle. She call forth rain with Rain Dance. The Sudowoodo however was not happy with this. It used Wood Hammer, which recoiled on both it and Azalea. The Jellyfish Pokemon was hurt, quite badly... however she's still kicking for the meantime. Immediately, she followed the technique with Water Pulse, ending the battle with super effective and boosted Water Pulse. Agate was quick to act.
"Give me a minute, Josh, he told the older teen. "I got to spray Azalea with potion first. Seriously, aren't you supposed to be careful? Why are you striking the Sudowoodo with Water Pulse at such close range like that?"

"Show me where you got hurt," Agate told the Pokemon, to which she complied. There were splinters, which made Agate wince. He took out his tweezers from his explorer set and began plucking the woods. Afterward, before he spray the potion on her, he first approached Aslan. "Here, let me help. Azalea can wait a bit. Honestly, I wasn't expecting that sort of action from her, but what can I do I guess... She was supposed to be the careful one of the team... i wonder if she got that quality from me, hah... how are you going by the way, big guy? Are you doing well?" Agate asked Aslan. "Sorry, I don't think I got any poison heal on me. I'll try to stock it next time. Hey, Rutile! You can eat your rare candies now!"
Once that he got everything (that he can) out, Agate would walk up back to Azalea and finally sprayed her with the healing potion. "...There, should be fine I think!" he gently patted the Frillish. But looks like they're not done just yet. Randgris, after that battle, shines brightly. Her small visage grew into something bigger, something stronger... and surprisingly, taller than Agate himself! The Pokemon that came out from the lightshow revealed itself to be... A Corvisquire!
"...Y-you're huge!" Agate commented, to which Randgris simply snorted at. She cawed happily. Yes, she's now a Corvisquire, and she's no longer small! That made her happy!
"Right right, I get that you're happy, geez... Anyway, Josh? How's Bladestorm? Is she well? Is there no need to tend to her or anything like that?"
Last time there were unfortunate accident like this, she was so damaged that she needed a surgery after all... and that... is honestly something that he's fearful would happened once again. Granted, the attack wasn't super effective... it was... double not effective even? Very not effective? But even so, he can't help but to get worried about the result.
Randgris crowed, as if telling Agate that he shouldn't care too much about the Pokemon. Perhaps, the corvid had a bit of a grudge that Bladestorm attacked her mother? But even so, Agate patted her on the beak to tell her to behave. "Even if she attacked your mother, Bladestorm will be eventually a friend of ours, you know? If you're that annoyed, maybe once you're stronger, let's take her and Josh on the skies, how does that sound? Maybe when you're Corviknight? Prove to them that the title of 'Galarian Ruler of the Skies' isn't just a mere talk!"
That does make Randgris interested! She crowed in agreement. "Hah, I know you're interested! Alright, for the meantime, hmmm... Say, Josh, what were you saying again? What was 'it'? A house or sort?" he asked. "I mean I understand you're quite well off from races and whatnot and well... ti's alright? It's your money so you should use it for whatever you want? But really, you're making me excited here!" <Training level applied after fight> Riku (Riolu) lv 23 (4/5) Randgris (Rookidee) lv 21 (2/5) Azalea (Frillish) lv 19 (5/5) Durandal (Honedge) lv 16 (3/5) Fang (Luxio) lv 20 (3/5) Rutile (Rockruff) lv 12 (4/5)
Josh was able to pick out a lot of the bigger thorns with just his gloves, leaving Agate and his tweezers to pick out the smaller ones. "Thank you," he said gratefully. "It would have taken me a lot longer to do this alone." Once all of the thorns were out (there was quite a nice pile of them on the road now), Josh dug out a vial of Antidote from his bag. "Hey buddy, this will make you feel better. Just lay back down for me real quick, okay?" he said to the Pyroar in his best daddy voice. Aslan flinched when the medicine was first applied, but over a short time, it drew out the venom nicely. Though he was still a bit hurt, the fire-type seemed good enough to run again. "Alright, let's ride!" Josh climbed back into the saddle, and the two were off again.
Witnessing the Rookidee's evolution, Josh clapped, Aslan purring along. "...We're going to have to take flying lessons together," he remarked, referring to, of course, his own metal bird. Agate could easily fit on Randgris' back, but the Corvisquire probably wasn't strong enough to lift him until after evolution. That was a ways off, though. Josh shook his head when asked about Bladestorm. "Right." He was still lost in thought for a few seconds. "She'll be fine. I'm actually not going to heal her yet specifically because she needs to learn not to attack everything in sight. She's been getting better about it, though - I feel she almost trusts me now."
The Galarian Rules of the Skies, huh...Josh didn't know a ton about Galar. Bladestorm would probably want to challenge that title. As the two passed a Torkoal on the left side of the wastes, Josh and Aslan giving the smoking fire-type a wide berth, Agate reminded him he never said what "it" was. "Oh, right. Now this might sound childish, but I'd love to have a ride-on Raikou plush down in my own base. You know, the lightning Beast? I've always wanted to meet him, even if it was just once. Could you imagine trying to race him?" The racer's eyes were half shut. He was daydreaming. Again.

"That's alright. I'm glad you got antidote with you. I might get myself some berries later down the road if needed... I mean I guess they're far cheaper than stocking medicines along the way... eh well! If he's fine that's all the most important for the meantime."
Plan to learn flight together huh? "Sounds good, once this girl get strong enough that is!" Agate said as he patted the crow on her crest. Randgris cooed gently, enjoying the affection. She's not usually like this obviously, and she'll only let those that she knew she could trust to touch her... if anyone random touch her, well... she'll peck.
"...Ah, ride on Raikou..." ...so that's how it is. Interesting. Well, he can't judge that. He would do the same anyway! ...As much as he wanted to continue talking though, he saw... something on the corner of his vision. Purple... white body... shiny yellow e-- oh no... oh no... Agate's jaw locked mid sentence. His body tensed, and he's sweating profusely. Riku who noticed that looked at the direction of where he's looking. Oh there it is... theree it is...
....A Litwick.
It might looked harmless, but Agate was pretty much hyperventillating at the sight of the Pokemon. The Litwick was confused. She looked like she came out simply because she wanted to present herself to Agate. After all, that was quite the teamwork! He also got a Honedge, she thought that he wouldn't mind her coming with him! Yes, this is the so called reverse befriending. However, how to say, the chemistry is the worst possible.
He cannot even move, he cannot even talk. His eyes just affixed at this small candle shaped Pokemon as if she's the most terrifying thing ever. This is not even close to night but here it is, out, walking like this...
Riku... tried to explain what's going on to the Litwick after sensing that this Pokemon does not want to throw down or anything. She just want to be trained by a strong trainer, which in her perception, is what Agate is. However, upon hearing... the Litwick nodded.... Does she left though?
No.
In fact she's EVEN MORE SPIRITED to prove that she's nothing like the Chandelure that Agate was saying. She's even going as far as telling all of Agate's Pokemon that she will help him overcame his trauma. The Litwick moved closer, only for Agate to steps back faster than he ran. It's a reflex, he can't help it...
"D-don't come closer..."
Man, this is... bad, but... Riku suddenly grabbed one of Agate's Pokeball.
"Eh? R-riku, what are-- NO, NO!"
What Riku thrown at the Litwick was an Ultra Ball. Sorry Agate, but Riku just really want his trainer to get over his trauma. He know it's hard, he know he want to run away, but even so... here, someone is trying hard to show him that they're trying to help him. He want to give them a chance. And for Agate to finally learn how to cope with trauma of ghosts. Josh's replies to Agate were mostly incoherent, what with him half-asleep atop Aslan. He was conscious enough to direct his Pokémon, but that was it. If Agate listened closely enough, he could barely understand Josh mumbling about what it would be like racing on the legendary electric-type greatly revered in his home region. As much of a pipe dream as that was, the three Beasts of Johto interacted with humans more than almost any other legendary Pokémon across the globe, allowing humans to get very close before bolting off so fast that even high speed cameras had trouble getting crisp images of them. Whether that was due to the mystique of the sacred Pokémon or they were just that fast would likely be a mystery for the remainder of time.
Aslan stopped at an Aspear tree. Rearing and bracing himself against the tree, he started shaking it violently, arousing Josh from his trance. If that didn't wake him up, then a pair of Aspear Berries bouncing off his noggin and into his mount's fur would. Aslan munched on a bunch of them himself before spitting them out in disgust - the ones he tried to eat were overripe. The ones Josh had found were fine, though! He pocketed them for now, intending to stow them with the rest of his things next time he needed to jump off.
If those two things didn't wake Josh up, a screaming Agate certainly would. Aslan, sensing the urgency, reared as high as a frightened Rapidash before leaping toward the source of the scream in an almost pounce-like motion. The lion's powerful bounding got the two back to Agate's side quickly, Josh breathing a little hard from being caught by surprise at the sudden sprint. "...You alright?" he asked the younger trainer.

Agate's eyes were empty, almost like... the entire world has abandoned him. His own partner Pokemon caught his biggest trauma, not to imprison it, but to... become an ally. This is like keeping pet Dementor somewhere close to you... Granted, this one is less primal than that, and meant no harm, but still... the fear itself was real. It wasn't until Josh approached him again that he slowly turned his head toward him. The way he slowly moved his neck felt like a rusted mannequin.
"....No, I'm not," he answered. "...But the arrow has been shot anyway."
Shakily, he picked up the Ultra Ball, and sent it to the PC. The Honedge behind him made a metallic sound, as if trying to cheer him up, patting his head with his tassel. "...Yeah... I already got you... so... I think it's just matter of time, Durandal..." but even so, Agate was really shaken. It wasn't until appearance of a... rather large Growlithe that he snapped out of it. Riku barked a greeting at it, which it returned. It seems to be eager to fight.
"...Eh? It want to fight with us?"
Riku nodded, and barked some and gestured some... It... he doesn't quite understand sadly. What's up even?
"Anyway, does it said that it wanted to fight any of our team?"
Riku nodded.... and immediately goes to the front. He put another Ultra Ball on the side. Wait, isn't that a bit overkill? But even so, both Pokemon seem to agree to this wage. Riku put on his stance while the Growlithe's muscles tensed. The next moment, both fighters clashed! The Growlithe used a Bite! His fang digging onto Riku's arm (or more like, Riku pretty much defended with his right arm), but the Riolu countered with a left hook, a Counter! The Growlithe, shocked at Riku's superior strength was sent skidding to the other side. The Riolu let out a fierce battle cry, boosting his attack and special attack by one stage. The Growlithe howled bravely in turn, also increasing its attack. The final attack was decided between the clash of Flame Wheel and Counter! Riku was damaged. If this is game, he would be probably about fifty percent down. The Growlithe however was in worse state. Agate quickly tossed the Ultra Ball on the side, after Riku barked at him!
At least Agate was honest about Josh. The next line from the boy made him squint, a puzzled expression covering the Pyroar and rider's face. "The arrow has been shot anyway? What's that supposed to mean?" When he saw Agate's almost mechanical-looking expression, he backed off. "...Never mind. Sorry I asked."
After several more miles eastward, the road disappeared into the badlands before the two. Though there was the occasional scrubland, most of the ground was arid and dusty, a primarily rocky expanse as far as the eye could see. There were dry grasses and the occasional small tree on occasion, but there weren't too many. Everything growing out here had to be tough as nails, too.
As Aslan tromped ahead, a young teenage girl gasped when she saw the Pyroar approaching with Josh in tow. She complimented him on how well-trained such a tenacious species can be. The Eevee and Greedent next to her appeared to be excited to battle Aslan, as well. When offered a Doubles match, Josh responded by sending Saber out and dismounting his fire-type. "Alright, boys, let loose!" He trusted his Pokémon enough to battle on their own, keeping one eye on them and another on Agate, who was catching up to them. Once the battle had started, Josh also called on his Luxray, Blitz, the young man resting his arm on the black feline's saddle.
Aslan let out a loud and proud roar skyward, the skin of Tammy and both her Normal-types tingling from the battle cry. "Saber, run between them with your Discharge!" Josh commanded. The girl was one step ahead of him, though, directing her Pokémon to run closer to Aslan. By the time Saber's Discharge fired, Aslan was within its range too, a scrambled-sounding roar coming out of his mouth. Though both Normal-types suffered heavy blows, so did Aslan - an effort Tammy would be quick to clean up with her two Pokémon. The Eevee feinted a blow to Aslan's left, setting up Greedent for a slam using its large tail. Completely blindsided, the Pyroar let out a weakened growl and collapsed.
Inspired to avenge his fallen partner, Saber roared loudly, sparks flying all around him self and the two opposing Pokémon. The density of sparks sounded like a large number of magnets had dropped and clinked against each other. While the Eevee didn't outright faint from the attack. it wasn't able to move at all after the attack. Tammy had enough, recalling the small Pokémon and turning it into a solo battle. The Greedent let out a yawn and fell asleep on the spot, the quick Rest serving as both a refresher and a muscle relaxant. Looks like he was going to have to bring out the big guns. "Saber, use your Electro Ball!" Josh commanded.
A yellow, sparkling sphere of electricity formed on top of the Manectric's yellow fur-spike. He lowered his head, the sphere launching toward the target like a heat-seeking missile. Even such a horrific shock did not awake the hibernating Greedent, but a second such one did. Seeing her Pokémon wake up with far greater wounds than it started with, Tammy saw no point in continuing the battle. She complimented Josh on his tactics and made her way south toward Fuji Town. The racer climbed aboard his Luxray, nearly forgetting to recall Aslan before coaxing his mount into a brisk walk.

"...It's too long to explain. Zekrom has abandoned me, Reshiram showed me cruel truth... Kyurem laughed hard at me from their crag... and Arceus cursed me for my hubris..." he answered... before letting out a rather disturbing sounding sound of someone that nearly broken from despair... but hey, he's only being dramatic. At any rate, the moment he got his Growlithe he would light up back again, looking happy! Looks like he decided to forget about the reality for the meantime... yep, there's nothing wrong, no siree, nothing wrong at all! He totally did not just betrayed by his Pokemon, who then decided that he should face his greatest fear, no siree...
"...Aha... ahahah..." Agate sighed after laughing awkwardly. But either way, Growlithe! "Say, Josh, what's your general opinion on Growlithe? Back in that track you invited me to go to, I didn't see any Arcanines come to think of it. Are they really that dangerous or what? Or were they too fast for that sort of track?" He don't doubt if they're really fast. Extreme Speed and Agility... that probably would make them run faster than a racing car after all. He wondered if he could train his Growlithe, later Arcanine, for racing?
He watched Josh battled a youngster. Both of her Pokemons are Normal types... they're known as the most versatile... but at the same time jack of all trades master of none. However, the battle was turn out to be a surprising one, considering that... Aslan ended up KO'd... Poor Aslan... Agate was quick to approach the fire lion Pokemon, gently stroking his head. "...You did well, Aslan."
...Speaking of which, it's his turn to be on danger now... why? Well... there are... several... psychic types that began to approach him. At first he thought it was just one... but soon... it joined by another... another, another, another and another... Agate's face paled. Hattenas. They're usually not into strongly emotional person... but here they are... five of them... it's a swarm. They're all Pokemons that is dangerous if left alone... Therefore... He quickly pulled out a quick ball. Thanks, Josh. Had it not because of him telling him what does Quick Ball does, he wouldn't purchased it before. He quickly tossed it at what he assumed to be the weakest link, the smallest Hattena! Before he knew it, his hand already reaching toward the back of his pocket to pull more Pokeballs... What Pokeballs? Repeat Balls.
He'll catch all five of them, because he's not sure if they will let him go all that easily. QUICK BALL, GO! Catching the Tiny Hattena!
The Wild Hatenna actually caught the ball and threw it back in your face.
p_ At least it looks like it's going to be all rig-- actually as it falls to the ground it cracks. Welp this ball is broken now. One Quick Ball has been removed from your inventory.
Tsk, failed! With that, looks like all the Pokemons right now are getting agitated... and if he can be real for the meantime, he's also quite agitated... But that's alright. He know what he have to do. Five on five. He need to be quick... The one that he failed to catch is over there... for the meantime, he need to use different strategy... The one who can do this best...
"Durandal, Fang, Randgris, Azalea, Riku, to the fore. Riku, don't push yourself. Other four, give your best!"
Tension are high, and the five Hatennas are understandably disturbed from such a strong tension. It would make them more aggressive than usual, but Agate have no time to care about it. Durandal was the first to launch himself to the fore. His first action is to casting a Wide Guard, calling forth a wall of protection to protect the party from many Psybeam and Confusion! But considering his power, that's the only chance he got. They need to weaken one of them!
"Fang, Spark, Randgris, Power Trip, Azalea, Poison Sting, Riku, Metal Claw!!"
The order were issued. Fang launched herself the moment the barrier was down to zap one of the Hattena, it happened to be the tiny one. Randgris immediately moved to assist her. Azalea meanwhile immediately shot a Poison Sting between the two's attack... whether the two's attack were successful or not, no idea, but...
XTFvHJKbp_
Score! Fang's paralysis landed! And now as for Azalea's Poison Sting
p_
Tsk, that one did not land. However, that was enough for Agate. Any chance are a chance regardless. He tossed a Razz Berry toward the paralyzed Hatenna! That was his last. Dangit all. He can't see any scenario where they would win unless he did this. Afterward, he tossed an Ultra Ball... at the target Hatenna. Ultra Ball Go! Razz Berry consumed The Tiny Hatenna is paralyzed!·
The tiny one is captured! But this only made it about four to five. Riku is already facing the strongest one. He knew it's a suicide, but even so, he's not going to let the rest of the team take the full brunt of the attack! "Just a bit more, you guys... hang on... We're almost there," Agate would whisper to his team. Now that Durandal cannot use wide guard, the rest of the Hatennas decided that they must focus their attack on one target. Unfortunately for them, Fang already attacked the second one, this time the adamant type! Following Fang's Bite, Randgris would follow up by sending sand attack at the opponent! Too bad for them, this time around Agate did not have the luxury to get them use any healing move to their party...
He must whittle down their number by sheer force, at least until Wide Guard is ready again.
Durandal immediately followed up Fang's Bite with Fury Cutter, forcing one of the Hatenna to heal their ally before it's too late. With this, he locked three Pokemons. One fired Psybeam at Riku. However, Azalea immediately covered for him, taking the brunt of the attack. Azalea sent out a Poison Sting, hoping for it to hit!
CJrDyr5zp_
Unfortunately it didn't poison it. Drats! This make another one fired Disarming Voice! The attack hits Riku, who gritted his teeth in pain. God, that was nasty... One left--- Riku immediately struck it with Iron Claw! It immediately about to counter with a Confusion, but at this moment, Agate was unable to hold himself anymore. This is a gamble. Four repeat balls, he tossed it, one by one, toward the Pokemons! His party are all battered up, and he need to recover them quick! Repeat Ball x4, GO! 1 to each Pokemons. None of them was unfortunately with status effect
"And that's why I--" Josh cut himself off, just listening to what Agate had to say. Ht was unsure whether it was just Agate being melodramatic, or something truly terrifying had plagued his childhood. A combination of both was also a distinct possibility. The curious trainer wanted to know, deep down...but knew it wasn't a good idea to probe such a young mind. It could trigger a friendship-destroying reaction. "Whatever it is, I wish I could help you with it...but if it's what I think it is, there's only one person who can help you with it. And that's yourself." Maybe that was overly harsh?
Next, Agate asked Josh's opinion on Arcanine as a racing Pokémon. "You're not wrong, Agate - Arcanine are popular on the circuit. You'll see a lot of them in Gold League if I ever make it. The problem is they're really hard to control - all paw, no claw, if you know what I mean." Arcanine were better in more open, cross-country settings where there was more freedom to pick a path rather than having the course determine a path for competitors. "On simpler tracks, Arcanine would be great. The problem is, the higher up in the Leagues you get, the twistier and tougher the tracks get. When you see Arcanine in the higher Leagues, it's a sign of rider skill, not the species' raw speed. I'm not saying it's a bad choice to enter in races - if you can train yourself to control the speed, they're great. I just prefer Pokémon that have more...responsive turning."
Josh couldn't help but applaud as Agate had captured almost all of the Hatenna, though it made the boy's team quite a bit worse for wear. Riku in particular was in terrible shape. The young man slid off Blitz's back and procured two vials of Potion and a vial of Super Potion, treating Riku with Super Potion first because of the Riolu's awful wounds. Randgris' wings looked badly hurt as well, Josh applying half a vial of Potion to each. Finally, Fang, the boy's Luxio, was pretty badly injured all over, forcing Josh to choose which wounds he applied the healing medicine. While the treatment would likely not fully heal them, it would make them feel a lot better. "Don't worry about it - it's on me," Agate's friend gestured.

Agate was completely out of breath when he was done. Tension just melted away from his body. His Pokemons dropped one by one. Randgris cannot fly, Durandal stabs himself to the ground, blinking owlishly.... he's tired, he's really tired. But compared to the rest, he was unharmed. Fang breathes heavily, sprawling on the ground. That was a rough battle... Azalea was probably one among the least affected. She was only breathing heavily, but nowhere to point of the rest. Riku, meanwhile, was close to fainting. That last Disarming Voice hits him good. He fell to the ground with a thud, breathing heavily.
Rutile, as the only one who was unable to fight, barked at them worriedly. The little Rockruff licked them, one by one, trying to get them back to fighting state, of course to no avail. Licking is not a healing technique. Agate thought that they're probably going to head back right now... It's impossible to continue at this time... And then, suddenly Josh offered him potions.
"Y-you really don't have to," he would begin. But it was too late. The three pokemons shook their head and slowly stabilized. Rutile barked thank you immediately at Josh. She might be a prideful girl, a lady of class--but that's exactly why she feels that she have to thank her benefactors immediately!
"...Thanks, Josh, I'll return the favor one day," Agate promised. "Whew... How are you feeling, guys?"
Fang stretched, seem to be healed enough. Riku shook his head to clear his mind, and Randgris cawed, before standing up yet again. Agate grabbed Durandal by his handle.
"...You may drink," he told the sword. Durandal initially did not want to, but Agate immediately wrapped the tassel around his arm by his own. "...You need to recover, Durandal. Drink."
Reluctantly, the Honedge began to absorb his trainer's energy. Agate isn't physically tired. Just mentally. And so it's fine if he decided to spoil his Honedge a bit. "Alright, I'm ready. Let's go."
