Liam could count on one hand the number of times he'd been out East since moving to Arciel. Not for any avoidance or anything, it just happened not to come up. But his current mission involved heading that way up to Ash City, so here he was on Route 7 making the long trip there. On the way, perhaps he'd encounter some new Pokemon? Who knew.
Cosette, his dear Kadabra, walked begrudgingly beside him, slumped with her tail dragging, clearly pouting. This was because Liam had told her she was too heavy to carry the whole way there, and she was very upset about this. Liam kind of felt bad now for letting her evolve, but Abra just... did not have very versatile moves available to them, and Alakazam were such revered powerhouses with natural inclinations toward telepathy even! Didn't she want to be able to talk in real words, he'd asked her? That had taken her from "I'm not going to move unless you carry me" to "yeah I guess I can walk", at least, heh.

As they walked along, eventually there came a young Machop. He seemed to be practicing flexing and lifting rocks, and as Liam noticed he smiled softly. How cute. He wished he was strong like that, but he was pretty fast, so he'd take what he could get. As he approached, he called out, "Hey there, little one!"
The Machop put his rock down and turned to face the stranger curiously. "You look pretty strong!" Liam said, causing the Machop to beam proudly. "Would you mind sparring with one of my Pokemon?" The Machop looked skeptic, but Liam assured him, "Oh, I don't want to catch you. Just see how Cosette can do against such a strong-looking Pokemon." The Machop smiled then and nodded, and they got into place.
The Machop went first, sliding in with a Low Sweep to knock Cosette off her feet, and the big baby whimpered as she hit the floor even though it wasn't very hard. She returned it with a Confusion attack, though, and Machop became confused. He tried a Knock Off, but punched at thin air and fell forward. Cosette then used Teleport to bring him up in the air and drop him before porting back down safely herself.
With that, the Machop was knocked out of confusion, but his head was still spinning, and he put his hands up in a motion to yield. "Aww, you good pal?" Liam asked. He chuckled softly. "I guess type advantages will do that. But thanks for the battle!" The Machop gave him a thumbs up, then went over to rest back by his rocks.

Cosette seemed to be looking a little better after winning the battle. Though she wasn't the most trigger happy Pokemon, she did enjoy winning, and Liam was glad to see her in higher spirits.
As they continued along, a sound began to approach from the distance. What was that? A low rumble? But as it drew closer, Liam began to feel the earth vibrate beneath his feet and saw dust kicking up from over the crest of a hill. The rumble had become more distinctly many sounds merging into one as well, and Liam realized it was a stampede. "Cosette, high ground!" he called. The Kadabra grabbed hold of her trainer and teleported them both up atop a nearby rock just as five Tauros came barging over the hilltop... with... was that a Meditite riding one? And... was she wearing a hat!??
Liam blinked several times to make sure he wasn't seeing things, then watched as the Meditite brought the herd to a stop to graze. Huh... Well look at that, she DID have a hat. Liam wondered if she belonged to someone who lived around here or if she'd just found or stolen it at some point. Well, best to not think about catching her just in case. Wouldn't wanna be flagged trying to steal.
Cosette teleported them down to the ground, and the sudden flash caught the Meditite's eye. She looked to them, then tipped her hat. Liam blinked, but then hesitantly copied the motion despite his lack of hat. The Meditite seemed pleased.
Two of the Tauros, however, including the one she rode, began to moo aggressively and buck around before turning toward Liam and Cosette and lowering their heads to bare their horns. They wanted a fight? "Uh..." Liam looked at the rest of the herd. One of the other three looked up and met his eyes, but it was a gentle gaze, and he soon went back to grazing. Ah... Okay, so just two Pokemon then, not the whole herd. Or...?
Meditite jumped down and pat her Tauros's leg to calm him for a moment, then motioned to Liam before jerking a thumb back to herself, then put up her dukes and made a one-two punching motion before looking at him questioningly. She wanted to fight too? Ah, but she was being polite. "Hm... Three on three then? I could do that!"
The Meditite looked pleased as punch, and waited for Liam to call out two more Pokemon. He chose his Sandslash and Servine. "All right, let's go!" he called out.
The battle started fiercely, with Cosette taking on Meditite, her moves dealing only neutral damage, but with a resistance to Meditite's moves. Meanwhile, Lior took on the bolder Tauros (Lv30) and Glace the naughtier one (Lv24). Glace was a bit outmatched in terms of raw power, but thankfully his steely resistance kept him aloft in the battle. Soon enough, Lior had made quick work of her opponent, and as the Tauros went down, she began to glow brightly and grow larger. Liam gaped in awe as his Servine became a Serperior! "Hey, congratz Lior!"
Cosette finished off Meditite quickly enough thereafter, while Glace struggled for a while to whittle down his opponent and looked quite tired by the time he finally got him down, but eventually did come out on top.
"Great job, everyone!" Liam called out. "How was that, little miss?" he asked the Meditite. She nodded in respect at him, and the two Tauros bowed down a moment as well. Liam grinned, placing his hands on his hips proudly. "Hehehe!" But it was time to get going now, huh? "See you all! Be careful when stampeding around, okay?" The Meditite nodded, and Liam recalled Lior and Glace before continuing on his way.

Continuing along after the Meditite, things were pretty quiet and peaceful for a few minutes. The only sounds were the distant chirps of birds and bird Pokemon, their own footsteps, and the rustling of the wind in the grass.
A rustling that grew a little louder and irregular all of a sudden. At first Liam didn't notice, but at the third pronounced rustle a bit of movement in the tall grass caught his eye, and he called, "Cosette!" just in time for an Arbok to rear its large head, its frightening hood pattern Intimidating the Kadabra, who jumped behind Liam to hide. Fff, some body guard! (Who was he kidding she was Baby.)
Fortunately he was quick to act, pulling out a PokeBall and releasing his Musharna. Reverie cracked open his red eyes, but was not so intimidated by the foe as Cosette had been when he first popped up. "Rev, Psybeam!" Liam ordered, and the Musharna spun about in the air before unleashing one, dealing super-effective damage.
Unfortunately, the Arbok retaliated with a super-effective attack of its own in the form of a Crunch, but at least it wasn't coming from a Dark-type. "Ah. Moonlight!" Liam called. The Musharna restored some of his lost health, while Arbok tried and failed to launch a Sucker Punch.
Reverie used Psybeam again, and the Arbok tried to use Poison Jab, but found it not very effective. With a third Psybeam, the Arbok decided this wasn't an easy meal and turned to slither back off into the grass. "Good job, Rev!" His Pokemon were getting in some good practice today, huh?

For the next few minutes after that Arbok encounter, everything was pretty quiet and peaceful once again. Eventually, though, Liam would hear a small squeak, and as he turned to its source saw a small flash of paler green than the grass ducking into said grass. "Hm?" A Pokemon?
He carefully stepped over and brushed the grass aside to see a cute little Alcremie hiding. Aww! "Hey there, little one~" he cooed, and he looked up only to squeak louder and hide his face in his hands. Awww. He was a cutie. He didn't feel especially drawn to him like he had with some of the Pokemon he'd caught, but he did seem like the sort of Pokemon who might be more comfortable in captivity if he was this timid, and he knew as many colors as Alcremie came in there was a huge market for them. Perhaps he could help him find a good home?
"I didn't mean to startle you," Liam assured him. "I was wondering, though. Would you mind sparring with me and my Pokemon?" The Alcremie looked up again, then violently shook his head no and hid once more. Ah... So that wouldn't work here. That was fine!
"Aww, it's okay. But hey, you seem like the shy sort. Does it ever get hard for you living out here in the wild?" he asked. The Alcremie hesitantly looked up again, eyes questioning. "It must be hard for someone who's not very brave to always be competing with bigger and stronger Pokemon for food and shelter and stuff... But you know, it doesn't have to be like that." He was listening... "Trained Pokemon get to live in safety and comfort, get fed by their trainers regularly, get healed quickly when they're hurt, and all kinds of good stuff. Plus you could even try to make friends with your trainer's other Pokemon, so you'd have others looking out for you." That did sound kind of nice...
Liam dug out a Pokeball and offered it to her. "I'm not sure I'd be the best trainer for you, but if you come with me, I could help you find someone who'd love you to bits. What do you say?"
