You've recently heard rumors about the whereabouts of legendary explorer Endre Arthmael of the Explorer's League. Follow them up to find him and tell him about your base, and he'll put in for you to get a new rank. It may take a bit to track him down, however. [ roll ] and Mod Call after each post to receive events to react to along the way.

"I had no idea that you're an explorer." One day, one of Agate's client told him as he finished his job. "I thought you'd be more of a trainer, but Explorer made sense too. But in that case, do you know about a legendary explorer called Endre Arthmael? No? Ah, I see, you're not from here and you're not quite up to the news huh... Well, that's fine. Either way, I have seen your secret base... it's not quite secret anymore now isn't it, hah hah! Especially with how you developed it... but anyway, back to the topic. By getting acknowledged by that person, you'll be able to expand your base... probably!"

Probably...?

"Yes, but... the person is very elusive, you see. Apparently there was a rumor of only a true explorer could meet him! In this case, apparently tonight he will be at the Weeping Forest. I think you will be fine?"

...The name alone honestly deterred him from entering and the fact that it's at night... well... That... is not good after all. But even so, the fact that they said that it's only for the true adventurer, it makes Agate burn inside. He really want to prove that he's a true adventurer! That's why he goes inside the forest, late at night, with flashlight on his hand, and help of Randgris and Riku. The former have good night vision, the latter can help him with aura. Agate too activated his Aura Sight just in case to avoid meeting any Pokemons. It being night time like this, Aura Sight sure helped quite a bit...

You see a big hulk of a man not too far away. It must be Endre! You should greet him and introduce yourself.

He saw an aura reaction different than the most. Slowly relaxing his breath, Agate turned off his aura sight. The man in front of him... his aura, is it really the man he's looking for? Either way. He signed to Riku and Randgris to keep their distance, but ready to act in case this was the wrong person.

"E-excuse me!" he would call out "a-are you happened to be... Mister Endre Arthmael? I'd like... to learn how to be a better Explorer if I can!"

Whoa, this guy... this guy is pretty much towering over him like some goliath. His neck kind of hurting looking up! Is this what a peak explorer looked like? Someone who's so strong that they looked like they could fight against Ursaring with bare hand? He imagined what if he grew up like this, but quickly shook off the foolish thought. "My name is Agate, Agate Valyn! I'm just a rookie explorer at the moment, but I'm hoping to make it big too! And have fun while doing it of course!"

...His introduction is a mess...

Endre nods at your introduction and introduces himself as well. He invites you to sit down to a meal with him. There's a fire pit but... no campfire? You should make one!

Yes! Looks like it's a success in a way or another? He guess he should be riding the wave right now, but... wait a sec... What... what campfire? What meal? Yeah, he can't let this stand. This is a cold night, and he don't want any of them freezing.

Agate immediately asked the senior Explorer to wait as he looked for any kindling. Dried leaves, a bit of wood shaving, and several branches of course. One arced shape, two straight, one big and one smaller. He chopped the big branch until it made a block of plane. for the smaller one, he chopped in into two in ratio of 1:3. He made an indentation to the smaller part, enough for the next step... which is, in this case, for him to shave into a dull stake sort.

Next, he tied a string to the bow shaped branch and twisted the string around the dull stake a bit, with its tip facing up, and its flat bottom facing downward to where the shaved wood block is. Afterward, he stepped on the block to keep it stable enough, and put several leaves on the small block with indentation to act as a securing brake for when he began twisting the branch. Alright, with everything on place, Agate begin to twist and twist, hoping that it would be enough to spark some sort of flame, or begin smoking and so he could combine it with the dry leaves kindling for him to put on the fire pit.

...Part of him wondered if this is part of the test, but even so...who knows. He'll earnestly do it, fire or no fire.

Not quite enough words dedicated to the task for a rank up, but you can add what you did here to another post after this one to try again.

Endre seems to note your hard work ethic and asks you to describe some of your exploits. Perhaps showing rather than telling will go a little further.

....This... made Agate freeze. His exploits... is it? ...For a while in Arciel, he admitted that he wasn't all that... well prepared for this sort of event...

"...Um, uh... how to say this," he scratched his head. Off to bad start already? "I have been here only for few months now? Close to a year? I don't really remember. It felt like a blur. My mother, she's against me doing anything dangerous... she said I must be at least thirteen to explore... So... I don't have that many story to tell, but..."

He scratched his head again. "My family used to be quite fine, before the attack of Ultra Beasts. I was too young to exactly remember what's going on... but we never managed to recover our old assets after that attack. My father's brother, he passed away, we got his farm, and... it comes with a debt. I admit... I have never been in any big adventure before. I want to, but adventure isn't something that come to me, even when I tried to look for it.

...But ... if I were to explain what sort of journey I had, then I guess I have to start with this." he put down a Blazikenite. "I admit the reason why I become explorer are because I love finding new things. One day, I just found out that my sight... looked different from the usual sight I have. The world looked more... vibrant, as if I was looking through some gem.... Before I had no idea what's going on. My adventure... began there I guess.  I found this, among many of my mined item then. Afterward," he called out his Torchic, Kagari "Met this one here in a swarm. My sight ended up getting me to many different sort of adventure. Got stuck in a Skarmory swarm on route 8 and one who joined my team ended up being the most chill of them all... found a dying Charmander without his parents, and become his surrogate parent... and found a sad Drifloon that seem to be searching for something..."

Agate pulled out a book, a journal, perhaps. He showed them to Endre. Each entry have a certain "item", mundane as they seemed such as Torchic feather, piece of Skarmory's blade wing and silver pieces, pieces of shell of eggs, items like photos and such... they're taped on the pages, perhaps as memento for those moments. One among which, is a photo of Agate working together with his Pokemons to build his secret base, putting nevermeltice on the walls to make it chillier, them building training equipment together, training together afterward.

"None of it might sounded special to anyone but the one who experienced it, anyone can do it. It's not like we have gone farther than route 10, Ash City, Fuji Town, Route 8 and a bit of Grumble Volcano either but I think that's what makes it precious. Even if the route is the same, the timing is the same, even if there is a different factor, no matter how little, the result will be different."

Endre seems reasonably impressed with your descriptions. The journal was a nice touch. He asks if you have found a place off the land that you have carved for yourself: a secret base, and if so, what things you have decided to store there.

He... was glad. There was this feeling that washes over him as the man was impressed enough. He thought he have to fight a dragon barehanded or something for it to be called an "exploit" or sort. But now that they're talking about secret bases, Agate explained what he have.

"I do. It's in Route 8. I wouldn't call it "secret" exactly though, as... I sorta made it into a training ground or sort. With the number of Pokemons I have at hand, I... want easier access to training ground. I immediately built one, with help of my Pokemons. It's location need a little bit of a a trek downstream, past some uneven rocks and hidden by tall bushes... but eventually you'll find small stairs or sort from woody materials... Follow that further down, until you found more bushes... but just past those are clearing... walk about twenty meters later and you'll find the makeshift training ground.

While the main building is in a cave, the rest is not. If we're talking about interior... it's this," he showed the picture. It's modest, making uses of shiny crystals as lighting, the roof reinforced with woods to prevent cave ins, and there is a hole on the top for lighting. Around the walls, Agate put Nevermeltice to make it much more hospitable. There is a modest bed, mini stones collection, and workbench there. "From the Association, I got Weight Set and Metal Tire Run, so these two doesn't count, but... Lately I have been into breeding Pokemons to help people finding their preferred Pokemons to train. So I got Fertility Statue... Afterward, of course I got Motivational Posters to boost my Pokemon's Training Efficiency... and lastly, I just recently crafted Mini Meditation Garden. Would you like to see, Sir?"

Agate showed the man the photo of the bronze Statue of Fertility and Mini Meditation Garden. The latter looked like a mini zen garden with various rocks scattered about, and a big boulder on the center that seem to be perfect to be sat on for meditating Greeneries like dwarf trees also graces it.

"I think... that's all for the meantime? Of course I'll make more should I get more materials!"

Endre gives the slightest smile at your preparations. He tells you he's impressed with the amount of forethought, preparation, and sheer versatility you considered for your base. Such forward thinking and planning is essential for an Explorer's career. He tells you that he will put in a good word and that you have proven yourself!

When he thought that he was probably being a bit too presumptious, or perhaps too 'out of ordinary' for an explorer, by not adhering the 'secret' part of the 'secret base'... he... had no idea what he have to say. Should he apologize? Should he ask if he's doing things right? But he really don't want to stop being an explorer... and that's when he noticed Endre's smile. He even goes as far as saying that he'll put in a good words for him and he... he's proven himself!?

Oh man, did he pass!? Agate blinked owlishly, before he nodded and smiled in a daze... it doesn't sound real. He excused himself, thanking the man for his time, and shared some of his berries and canned food just in case... yes, he's still in a daze, and he only could walk away, looking absolutely gobsmacked of this development. His Pokemons followed him out of the forest. He doesn't care anymore, he just want to jump in joy! Great job, Agate! It's just a tiny step, but it was very important!
