Weeping forest, here he is again... His goal this time around is to reach the other side of the forest, Route 7, and then toward Bass City, and finally to Route 1, where he could get to this... special swarm of Eevees apparently. He's not usually interested in Eevees... They're cute, they're soft, but they're more to his sister's interest rather than his own. But... BUT... This one is special colored one, and that interest him what sort of coloration will come out if he evolved them?
It's interesting, and he really want to see it.
Speaking of which, today he decided to switch things up a bit with his team... Riku requested to stay at home to train, so he's bringing Anat with him. The Lucario felt... different than Riku obviously. Durandal is still around... But today he's bringing Jasper the Growlithe, Schera the Skarmory, Fang the Luxio, and finally Gatack the Grubbin. Quite the strange lineup, but he need to switch moods and teams now and then! Anyway... Schera doesn't seem to really get why she must be around. In her opinion, her daughter Randgris is better choice than her... yet she was the one picked? Well, that's fine... In the end, she agreed to come. Agate is riding a bike too to save up some time. He want to get to route one as soon as possible!
Well, here hoping that it will be an interesting journey! Agate's Team: Jasper the Growlithe (Lv 24) (5/5) Anat the Lucario (lv 20) (5/5) Fang the Luxio (lv 20) (5/5) Schera the Skarmory (lv 18) (5/5) Durandal the Honedge (lv 15) (5/5) Gatack the Grubbin (lv 13) (5/5)
About a mile down the road from Ash City were three pairs of palm trees that looked completely out of place. What were palm trees doing growing in a deciduous forest like this? They had to have been planted by someone - there was no way trees like that grew in a temperate climate naturally. A atrong wind blew through the woods, drowning out the typical rustling of feathers. Though the large density of trees kept the wind from appearing too strong, occasional big gusts would blow between alleyways of trees where the was room. Above were some clouds that appeared dark but not too dark - for now, it just seemed like there was a lot of wind. Rain and even a thunderstorm might be coming.
Suddenly, a deep, loud buzzing sound drowned out all other noise in the woods, a few trees to the north creaking and swaying far more than they should, even in such windy weather. Its source was an oversized Yanmega that buzzed around the corner and hovered above the main road, its wingspan easily 9 feet. Though its gaze could be described as nothing but menacing, the Yanmega didn't attack at all. If Agate were to look above the great dragonfly, he would see a long-haired blonde dressed in almost solid green, perched in a saddle strapped to the dark-green Pokémon. Landing in the center of the road, the Yanmega ceased buzzing, leaving only the ambiance of the strong wind. She took earplugs out of her ears and waved at the traveler, her other hand on a Pokémon egg in front of her. "Sorry if I scared you!"
Just as he thought it would be a fine day, it... wasn't quite like that. A loud buzzing made Agate covers his ears. His Pokemons growled from their sensitive hearing. However, the docile Durandal suddenly wrapped his tassel around Agate's arm, moving his hand to pull his handle. Agate pulled, and a LOUD metallic screeching could be heard... it for some reason seem to counter the sound, neutralizing it to certain extent. What descended was a Yanmega.... those are pretty cool honestly! Agate could get behind it! But just as he thought if he should attempt to capture it, even if he have to do a four against one, apparently it wasn't a wild Pokemon as someone is on its back! Whew, almost.
"Well, you don't exactly scare me," Agate would begin to the stranger... "That was loud though. Amazing ride by the way! I think a Pokemon rider friend of mine would be interested in it... on its speed only though. Not sure about the loudness."
Fang protested at him like saying she also don't like the sound. Just at that time, an Aipom appeared. Fang quickly approached it, then asked it to spar with her. Oh boy, already? The Aipom meanwhile is unsure, but she seem to thought that there's no harm in it. The two immediately squared off. The Aipom used Swift, while Fang charged. The attack sent her reeling back, but she does not mind. Actually, she's completely fine with it. Because the next turn, she released what she has been charging! She used Spark!
4n54ORvep_
A little bit unfortunate however, as she did not manage to stun it. The Aipom attacked with Fury Swipes next, but Fang dodged... or attempted to. She forgot where she was walking to and hits a tree accidentally. She's been so long as a Shinx, forgetting that she's now much bigger as Luxio. The first hit missed, but the second one hit her enough. She immediately followed up with another Spark, winning the fight. Hmm, that was hurt, but at the very least not that bad. The two Pokemons praised each other before the Luxio returned to Agate. That was fun!
Jasper the Growlithe (Lv 24) (5/5) Anat the Lucario (lv 20) (5/5) Fang the Luxio (lv 21) (4/5) Schera the Skarmory (lv 18) (5/5) Durandal the Honedge (lv 15) (5/5) Gatack the Grubbin (lv 13) (5/5)
Shalin could barely hear the screeching sound from her perch - unsurprising, what with being mere feet from giant wings beating roughly a hundred times per second. The noise was fast enough and the wind was strong enough to chase a Ledyba and Drifloon out of a tree that creaked and swayed until the big bug's wings stopped. There weren't earplugs you could buy that silenced that completely; only ones that would make it bearable. "Really," Shalin exhaled deeply, Flit crawling along the ground to where Agate stood. The girl took one of her earplugs out. She couldn't help but chuckle at Agate's reaction - most travelers would flee from her as fast as their legs could carry them. "That's what these are for!"
The blonde noticed the bike. "If you're headed west, Flit here could get you across the woods a lot faster than that. I always carry an extra pair!" Flit's compound eyes shifted toward Agate, doing his best to put on a smiling face with his large, intimidating-looking mandibles and jaws. "I'm Shalin, by the way! Shalin Nariya, the wildest rider this side of Arciel!" She looked down at the Pokémon Egg in front of her - the bottom of it was rather cracked from being rattled around by Flit's moving body.
Hmmm, riding the Yanmega? "...Tempting," he would begin, honestly. "But at the same time these guys," he pointed at his Pokemons "would prefer to travel with me, I mean beside me. So I think I'll ride the bike, but don't worry, I think I'm pretty strong to catch up with you... to certain extent that is."
Still, that introduction, why it reminds him of Josh? Agate chuckled. "I think there are quite a lot of riders around these area that would like to challenge you on that title. As for me, I'm just a newbie explorer or such... newbie everything pretty much!"
Agate crossed arms behind his back, and saw a Hawlucha approaching. This wasn't the first time, but anyway, once again Fang goes to the front, challenging the Hawlucha. She chittered at the Hawlucha, seemingly trying to goad it to spar with her. The Hawlucha seem to not be as desiring... it's perhaps timid or modest? But even so, Fang's persuasion seem to work well.
"...Don't get too excited now..." Agate warned. Fang got this problem of pushing herself too far usually... because she apparently rarely sees action, and prefer to fight on the front. Nothing wrong with that obviously. At any rate, first begin the circling of the two. The Hawlucha already entered a "ring mode", Agate would like to dub it, because it's at this point that the trash talk usually begins. But this Hawlucha seem to be not the kind that trash talk people.
Fang does not seem to be in mood for that either... It's as if she suddenly understood the weight of the fight... And the first to attack happened to be the Hawlucha! It started already with a Submission, which caught Fang off guard from how sudden and fast it's moving. Midway through the Submission though the Luxio released her Spark, sending jolt of electricity at the Pokemon!
RZatllgQp_
The paralysis unfortunately did not land. Fang who already took damage before now at the 'orange' zone. She however was enjoying this! The Hawlucha, taking quite a lot of damage from Submission and then Spark, would be at worse health than her. Fang immediately attacked with another Charge the moment the Hawlucha tried to attack with Aerial Ace, which ended up barely missing her. She took a bit of damage, but at least it wasn't all that bad. The Luxio praised the Hawlucha for its fighting and thanked it. Looks like it's done.
"Alright, back to the road we go... Are you sure you'll be OK?"
Fang yowled at him, like asking "who are you talking to? Of course I'm fine!" -Level Adjusted From Other Thread- Jasper the Growlithe (Lv 24) (5/5) Anat the Lucario (lv 20) (5/5) Fang the Luxio (lv 24) (3/5) Schera the Skarmory (lv 18) (5/5) Durandal the Honedge (lv 17) (5/5) Gatack the Grubbin (lv 13) (5/5)
"It's okay, thought I'd offer," Shalin answered with a smile, which grew to a grin as Agate said there was someone he had met that could challenge her for the title. "...Heh, I doubt that," she chuckled. "If ya can keep a secret...I might be able to tell ya why. But first..." She started whistling for a few seconds. "Ya gotta tell me who y'are!" Though she had somewhat of a natural Southern Johto accent, she was obviously mocking those with a much thicker accent, the way she was talking to Agate just then. "Ya might need these, too," she continued, pulling out a second set of earplugs for Agate. "Never know when--"
Flit suddenly started buzzing angrily, branches and the occasional complete limb flying off some smaller trees from the wake of his powerful wings. "What is it, Flit?" Shalin asked, nearly blown off balance while she was putting her other earplug back in. Her left ear was still ringing loudly even from the brief exposure to the dangerously loud noise. The Yanmega darted west along the road, his trainer forced to call on Serena's help to keep up. She released the Persian and quickly scurried aboard, riding fast enough just to keep her partner in sight.
By the time Serena could easily see Flit's position in the forest, the giant bug was already in a battle with a Diggersby, a Pokémon in the hands of a young, female member of Team Spade. Easily recognizable by the logo on their white-and-black shirts, they were a group of ruffians who primarily preyed on trainers in rural areas of western Arciel. The Diggersby's ear-arms were surprisingly quick, snaring the insect when he tried to come in with his mandibles. Flit struggled to get out of the normal-type's grasp, the foe taking advantage of its strong ears by also slamming the grappled Pokémon into the ground face-first.
With nowhere to go, Flit did the one thing he did best while trapped: shred the air with his mighty wings. As Diggersby wound up for a second slam to the ground, the Yanmega's entire body started throbbing from the power behind his buzzing. Serena ran toward the nearest tree and threw the side of her face into it to try protecting at least one of her ears from the air-rending racket, Shalin unable to see the battle as a result.. Unable to hear any commands from its trainer thanks to Flit's sonic attack, the two Pokémon kept up what they were doing. After a second slam, Diggersby's ear-arms were in so much pain from the strong vibration that it could neither hold Flit nor focus on the fight.
The female thug, covering her ears, felt she was outmatched and fled westward. Shalin could hear the roaring clearly, even with earplugs in. It had to be unfathomably loud without them. Even after the battle, Flit's wings were still going so fast as to be invisible. "What's wr--" Shalin started to ask after her Persian had caught up, shortly afterward seeing the wounds all over the bug-type's face. Saying no more, she slid off her feline Pokémon's back and began applying a dose of Hyper Potion over the many bruises covering the Yanmega's face.
"Oh, right, name is it? Agate. Agate Valyn. Some spelled it 'Valens', whichever is valid," Agate answered. Hmm, so if she's offering this, does that means she's going to tag along? "I'm heading to Bass at the moment, looking to get to route 1 as fast as I could. Apparently there are news of Swarm happening there at the moment, and considering the swarm being Eevee.. that's just THE BEST! I sorta wanted to treat myself after a headache, ahah..."
it's at this time that their talk were interrupted. Drats. Shalin had to follow Flit, while Agate... Noticed that he wasn't around. The buzzing was making it hard for Agate to even get a voice in! Before he knew it, the little girl tossed out a Geodude... Without warning, suddenly Gatack goes to the fore. Immediately, he would chitter a challenge of his own toward the Alolan Geodude. Agate can't even order Gatack to do a Mud Shot clearly due to the buzzing, but to his surprise, the Grubbin did it by himself! Eh? Gatack being higher in level and the double advantage move immediately knocked the poor Graveler out... in one shot! What a savage! He chittered happily before returning back to Agate. The next one... the little lady sent out a Volbeat!
To this one, Jasper, although still affected by the buzzing, would immediately go to the fore and challenged it. However, before he could Schera suddenly swooped in, cawing. She seem to warn the young Growlithe that he's too strong. To give a proper fight, one should be close in level to it. Schera begin her attack with Air Cutter! Agate read the girl's mouth... It's... Confuse Ray? Dangit, Schera--!
She got affected by Confusion! Schera looked a bit dizzy... and immediately...
sCSLHoLwp_
Schera hurts herself! Agate winced. The little girl grinned, and ordered the Volbeat to use double team... And Schera in response... tossed a Persim Berry! Schera snapped out from her confusion! The next turn, she immediately struck with another Air Cutter, winning her the battle!
"You did well, Schera, Gatack. Oh, Fang and Jasper, come here, I'm going to feed you three and Gatack rare candies." Level Adjusted Jasper the Growlithe (Lv 29) (5/5) Anat the Lucario (lv 20) (5/5) Fang the Luxio (lv 29) (3/5) Schera the Skarmory (lv 19) (5/5) Durandal the Honedge (lv 17) (5/5) Gatack the Grubbin (lv 19) (5/5) Agate won against Youngster Jaya!
As you venture further into the forest, there seems to be something...off about the general area. Trees are bent and broken as if something shot right through them. One tree in particular seems to have been uprooted entirely, the trunk smashed as if it was lifted. Agate is able to see some strange traces of aura surrounding the damage... What could this mean?
It was hard for Shalin to hear anything Agate was saying, Flit's wings not calming down at all even once the Hyper Potion had been fully applied. If anything, his wings were roaring faster and harder, almost like he was using his Bug Buzz attack. The dragonfly's entire body was visibly vibrating from the sheer power behind the nine-foot-long pair of wings. When a piece of egg shell went flying into Shalin's face, it was apparent what Flit was doing - he was helping the Pokémon egg hatch! By the time Flit stopped, there were cracks along the entire egg shell, another piece flying toward Agate as a positively enormous Weedle, nearly two feet long, crawled out of the Egg, down Flit's now calm natural armor, and up Shalin's right leg. "Hey! That tickles!" she laughed. "I was going to name you King Zing, but you're a girl...aren't you?" she smiled toward the newly-born Pokémon. "How about...Queen Zing, then?"
Shalin smiled when he heard Agate mention the Eevee swarm. "I'm headed that way for the same reason! Agate, it's so nice to meet you!" Serena looked visibly irritated at Flit for blowing her ears out during his efforts to hatch Queen Zing. Shalin would quickly become likewise irritated, then frightened, by what was ahead - there were a large number of trees that were cleanly cut, like a blade had gone through them. There was even a completely intact tree, roots and all, just off the trail. "...I don't like this at all, Agate," Shalin slowly said to the younger explorer, Serena diving out of the way of a wild Golem rolling east along south side of the trail at high speed. Thankfully the trainers were walking on the north side! "Phew, that was a close one!"
This... this is rather... unsettling? The moment they're in clear, they suddenly found a lot of tree has been broken... Agate tried to make a sense out of it. First thing first.. is there any tracks on the ground? He slowly crouched to touch the ground, then activated his aura sight. He cannot track them, but at least he could see a little bit of residue here somewhere... And that's when he noticed the aura felt... odd... This puzzled him. He don't know what sort of aura this is, but... He quickly turned it off and looked around.
Jasper suddenly barked at the direction of a... what on earth is that? That... that Noctowl is not the normal kind that he have seen before! Perhaps it's from this Noctowl? No... no, perhaps it's not them. He activated his aura sight again just to be sure, but... could this Pokemon seen anything about what happened here? Not to mention it's strong, so...
"...We're in need of help," Agate began to the Noctowl "I need stronger Pokemon in my party. Would you please let me capture you?"
The Noctowl looked at him before hovering above him, wings spread. Jasper quickly gets into fighting stance.
"Thank you," Agate thanked it. And the two battled. The Noctowl is stronger and faster than Jasper. It immediately shot ice beam toward him, to which the Growlithe, in his attempt to use Agility, was hit. It was too fast for his status boosting move to take effect first! Agate clicked his tongue.
2|82Vfaep_
But it did not freeze Jasper! Now that Agility kicked off, Jasper is faster. He quickly attacked with Flame Wheel... which while strong, was unable to damage it enough. The Noctowl followed with a Freeze Dry! With higher speed, Jasper managed to dodge it this time, and he followed with another Flame wheel! At that moment, Agate decided that it has sufficiently damaged, and tossed an Ultraball at it!
When Shalin appeared... Agate looked at her.
"Hmmm... Miss Shalin, listen carefully to what I'm going to tell you, alright? First.. there are a lot of... vague auras around here. They're not the normal kind, feels a bit weird... I don't know what it is, I don't want to jump to conclusion. The worst... the worst problem would be that it's Ultra Beast. The best result is that it's just new Pokemon that have nothing to do with Ultra Beast."
Agate once again looked at the ground, looking for more concrete clues, then at the broken trees... Are there handprints or something?
"...I won't blame you if you want to run, but just in case, do you have any Fire Stone?"
After Shalin gave the fire stone to Agate and he paid 75 pen for it, Agate would toss it to Jasper. He tossed one more rare candy to Fang. Both evolved at the same time. Agate quickly folds his bicycle and stored it away. He rode his Arcanine, patting it gently. "...I'm heading that way, trying to check if there are any dangers. I'll run if it noticed me. I can't win that alone obviously... but heh..."
he scratched his head. "Either way, I'm not sure if I'm suicidal or what, but I have experienced Ultra Beast attack directly. It wasn't pretty. I don't want anyone to go through that. Jasper, once the Noctowl is caught, run full speed to the direction of the aura, you hear?"
The Arcanine barked loudly. "Good boy. Let's go!" Level adjusted Jasper the Growlithe (Lv 31) (4/5) Anat the Lucario (lv 20) (5/5) Fang the Luxray (lv 30) (3/5) Schera the Skarmory (lv 19) (5/5) Durandal the Honedge (lv 17) (5/5) Gatack the Grubbin (lv 19) (5/5)

Shalin had made it back just in time to see Jasper finishing up a battle as well as the Growlithe's majestic-looking evolution. "That's the spirit!" she smiled as Agate folded up his bike and jumped aboard his newly-evolved Arcanine. When he had brought up the topic of the Ultra Beast attacks, Shalin began shaking uncontrollably, going completely silent despite being so talkative before. The shaking became worse the more Agate continued.
Her shaking was only interrupted by Flit suddenly taking off toward the west, a swarm of Grumpig blocking the main road. Shalin scrambled to get her earplugs back in before her partner landed in the middle of the five. He warmed up his wings, shaking the rest of his body to sink his feet into the ground for support before loosing the fiercest vibration he could muster on the five psychic-types.
Shalin gasped in awe, quickly closing her mouth when the gale force winds blew the trainers' way. While the buzzing was dangerously loud even with her earplugs in, there was also an unintended and unexpected danger - leaves, branches, and even entire limbs whizzed by. Furthermore, with the Yanmega anchored, his shaking exoskeleton created a localized tremor around him, making it difficult for the Grumpig to keep their ears covered. Two of the three collapsed, their Spoink young blown away completely from the nearly hurricane-force winds.
In desperation, the final Grumpig's eyes glowed purple, the gem in its forehead now white as a small, white gemstone spire pierced Flit's underside. One of his wings suddenly stopped, then the other. By the time the Power Gem disappeared and the attacking wild was out of sight, Flit had passed out, his green body camouflaged in a mess of leaves, branches, and tree limbs from trees that had been completely shredded. The emotional Shalin released Serena, climbed into the saddle, and chased after her fallen partner full-speed ahead. Even Queen Zing was worried, glowing a solid yellow and evolving not one, but two stages, into a yellow-and-black Beedrill that easily kept pace with the Persian.
Just before Jasper could take off, somehow there are hordes of Aipom! How could this be? Agate looked at his teams and decided that he need to switch one of them with one of the Pokemon he just caught. "Gatack, I'll be sending you to PC for the meantime," he told the Grubbin, who nodded and vanished with the Pokeball. In his place, Agate have the Arcielan Noctowl takes his place. The name is... Mithril. For the meantime though...
"Anat, to me. Durandal, do you feel you're up to it?" the sword let out a soft sound of metallic grating. "I'll take that as a yes. Hey, we just want to pass, would you let us? This area sounded like it's teeming with strange aura. We just want to see what's up ahead."
The Aipoms doesn't seem to want to move, as if trying to gauge the strength of the traveler. "If that's your answer, then I'm sorry, but I don't have time to be playing around. Anat, Aura Sphere!" Upon being ordered, Anat quickly aimed an Aura Sphere at the weakest Aipom. Meanwhile, Agate and Durandal danced around. Swifts does not affect Durandal, who ignored every single attack and slashed away at them, attacking the opponents with Aerial Ace. Anat swept through the Pokemon fast herself, her Aura Sphere felled most Aipom in two hits, although in her case, Swift still damages her, but not to extent where she would fall. That leaves the Shiny Colored one. Agate tossed a Spelon Berry to it waiting for it to eat it before slashing with another Aerial Ace. Anat took two Pokemons, Durandal took three. And with this one, he finally tossed an Ultra Ball at the shiny Aipom, hoping to capture it to prove his mettle toward the horde.
Agate exhaled. Wielding Durandal like a Jian Sword honestly took quite a lot from him. On top of Durandal taking his stamina, he have to move around too. It's like being possessed... no, it IS actually a possession... But at any rate, time to see how that goes...
"Shalin, are you alright over there?" Agate asked. Level adjusted from prior thread Jasper the Growlithe (Lv 31) (4/5) Anat the Lucario (lv 27) (3/5) Fang the Luxray (lv 30) (3/5) Schera the Skarmory (lv 19) (5/5) Durandal the Honedge (lv 24) (2/5) Gatack the Grubbin (lv 19) (4/5) -> Mithril the Arcielan Noctowl (Lv 33) (4/5)

Having seen Flit's battle, Queen Zing circled the pile of leaves and limbs, and at quite the clip at that. Try as she might, the Beedrill's wings just weren't made for blowing things around. "Flit's in there!" Shalin cried to Jasper and Agate, pointing at where her newly-evolved Pokémon was flying. She was still quite rattled, both at the danger Flit was in and at the suggestion that there was an Ultra Beast that had passed through the forest recently. "Do you have a Pokémon that can help blow this away? Queen Zing isn't strong enough!" Shalin started digging through the pile herself, tossing aside the branches she could lift with her scrawny body.
As she started digging, a Bisharp--no, a really big Pawniard--strolled through the area, getting dangerously close to where Flit was buried. "Agate, can you chase this Pawniard away? My hands are kind of tied right now!" she shouted back, continuing to dig through the pile in search of a Yanmega that might be a little hard to see.

Tsk, just as he thought that's that, there are more Pokemon on the way. The first is a Joltik too small, but looked strong. It leaves without as much as fighting them (which is a pity, Agate likes Joltik because they're cute, but if they're that small, he's afraid to even capture them because how small they are to the naked eyes). Galvantula can be bigger, but even so, this is still... something that gave him a bit of a distress. The other one turned out to be a Tyrogue. This one would like to fight apparently. Tsk... Should he let one of the better Pokemon to handle it? Or should he use Durandal again?
Schera instead was the one who take the fore.
"You sure?" Agate asked. Schera squawked. She wanted to show off a bit to her trainer after all. "If you're sure then go for it, Schera!"
Schera's first tactic is to use Air Cutter---or about to but the Tyrogue instead attacked with Fake-Out, flinching her! The attack was combined with a palm strike that sent her reeling backward. Even so, the Skarmory did not get discouraged. In fact once that's over, she once again followed up with Air Cutter! The Tyrogue perhaps had no choice but to use Tackle afterward, which is not an effective move. Nothing worked that good against Schera past that Fake Out. In the end she won.
Agate heard what Shalin said and sent Jasper to roar at the Pawniard to scare it. Contrary to his plan however the Pawniard instead decided to fight! The Pawniard was quick, using Metal Claw to attack Jasper. However, the Arcanine was more than ready to counter with a Flame Wheel. The next attack was with Slash, but this time, Jasper was more than ready, blasting it with a Flame Burst. Noticing that it's overpowered, the Pawniard left. Agate quickly called Mithril to freezes any leftover flames.
"Flit is under there?" Agate asked. "Schera, think you can do a bit of precise attack? Mithril, you too."
The two bird Pokemons began to flap their wings. Schera swooped, carrying the debrises, while Mithril beats his wings to clear the leaves. The rest is up to Agate, who began to clear any leftover objects that covered the Yanmega. "If you got any potions or berry, this is the time to use it," Agate told Shalin. "Or revive, considering that he's unmoving."
