The sky was clear, the sun exposed and warming them with it's rays while a breeze blew by and tousled his coat. It was nice, maybe too nice? Blonde hair lay in it's usually brushed disarray while golden hues looked up at the sky. Adi wasn't sure what was up. He was jittery, he was restless. And while he would normally be more worried, he figured he had a pretty good idea as to just why he felt this way, like static was crackling over his skin.
Adi was in a new region, with a new plan, and he was ready to go. So why the hell was he holding still? He needed to go! What was he waiting for? Why bother checking his phone, he had no notifications so there was no point in standing around.
Tri sat on his haunches, looking up at his friend while Adi seemed troubled. The canine whined, leaning his weight against Adi and nosing into his chest through the blue hoodie and white shirt he wore. Adi snapped out of his revere, looking down at the teal Electrike. First he was worried, but how could he stay that way with how Tri looked at him like that? Adi smiled, butting his shoulder against the Pokemon and laughing when his face got slobbered as a reply.
"Alright, alright! I get it bud! Let's get going!" The blonde chuckled, playfully pushing his companion off of him before jogging off in a pace he knew Tri could keep up for longer periods of time.

This morning had been a whirlwhind of activity, and Liam's head was still spinning. People were buzzing, panicking, and phones had been ringing off the hook. He was so relieved to finally get out into the wild away from it all, even if he was still buzzing and panicking himself. But he had a duty now more than ever to be vigilant on patrol, and he felt he desperately needed to boost his training regimen. He needed to get stronger if he wanted to be able to protect Arciel's people from these beasts.
Cosette, his usual traveling partner, had been helping him all morning, and was now taking a well-deserved rest, so his Lurantis Orchid was walking with him instead. She was already one of his strongest, and Liam wasn't really sure if he wanted to work with her and Lior to get at least a small part of his team as strong as possible or work on catching the others up to their level in order to have a more balanced team. But he supposed he'd play it by ear. For now, her cheerful upbeat personality was calming to be around.
The Skarmory egg in his backpack was a bit heavy, but not nearly as bad as Cosette trying to ride on his back, so he'd live, heh.
Not far ahead, Liam noticed a young man with a blue Electrike. Hm... Was he equipped enough to be out wandering around alone at a time like this, Liam wondered? Or would the wilderness be safer than a city for that matter... Hm. Well, it couldn't hurt to check on him. Jogging to catch up, Liam called out, "Hey! Hi there!" As he got a bit closer, he asked, "Crazy morning, huh?" He just assumed everyone had heard about the Wormhole by now.

There was still something up, Adi could feel it, he just didn't know what. He couldn't get his shoulders to relax, arms swinging more stiffly than what they usually would have. It was uncomfortable but he didn't know what to do to make it stop. But what was there to be on edge about? He had a place to stay, he had Tri and money to replace things he hadn't been able to bring with him.
And Tri seemed content? The pup jog trotting along beside Adi and panting as he usually would, his leg didn't seem to be bothering him at that moment. Then what was up?
"Come on Adi, stop being an idiot and get out of your own head." He grumbled to himself. Yeah, that was the problem, he was thinking on it too much.
A call of 'hey' caught his attention, Adi jerking towards the sound and slowing down. His feet scuffed the ground as he stopped, Tri now pacing at his side. Why had they stopped? They were just getting ti the good part! Tri made one of those yawning whines but sat down when Adi patted his head. "It's alright bud." Ears were scratched to take the canine's mind off of it.
Though why a guy was waving Adi down was anyone's guess. At least until the guy asked what a crazy morning. Crazy? Adi looked up at the sky and around him. There was nothing he saw out of the ordinary, what was so crazy about that?
"I don't know what you're definition of crazy is, but it seems like a chill kind of day to me?" Adi raised an eyebrow. "Why? Is there something up?" The blonde asked, still confused enough that he wasn't connecting the dots. His lips pursed a bit as he tried to wrap his head around this situation. What was so crazy about today? Was there a parade or concert he had missed in Bass? Was it weird to not really have anyone out and about? Actually, now that he looked, it did look almost deserted in the immediate area.

As Liam got closer, he realized just how big the Electrike was. Arceus, that was almost scary, but he seemed to be well-behaved, so okay, no problem. Anyway, the guy replied and--
Liam's blood ran cold. He blinked a few times. "I... You haven't heard?" That came out quieter than intended. Oh geez, how was he supposed to be the bearer of such news for someone? Hmm... He pursed his mouth a moment, and thought. He supposed it was best to be as direct and objective as possible, keeping his emotional response out of it, much like a news report, if a bit more informal. "At around 12:30 this morning, a new Ultra Wormhole opened over the Sequoia Forest out East. It wasn't open long and we know the number of Beasts that emerged is low compared to last time, but we don't have solid numbers yet on just how many there are or where they've gone. They seem to have spread out all over, so no one is sure where may or may not be safe."
Liam felt a bit sick, but went on. "It might not be safe to be out traveling on your own right now. Were you headed to Cedar, or just wandering?" If the guy was going his way, perhaps Liam could escort him. Safety in numbers, after all.

Tri, there was no need to worry about him. He was a good pup! A big one, but good, and occasionally just plain adorable. Sitting down the canine tilted his head at the new human, dark green eyes blinking slowly before his attention drifted to the much more dire situation of twisting himself, bringing his foot up. Oh yeah... right there on the neck... oh yeah, that was a good scratch! His foot continued to kick, strands of hair floating down to the ground.
Of course, Tri was at ease, but upon seeing the reaction of the other, Adi felt everything start to stiffen up. Shoulders set, back straightening. Those words of 'you haven't heard' sent a chill through his body. Those words meant common knowledge among people. Those words meant he was out of the loop (though that did tend to happen when you went spelunking into a cliff side cave where a phone got little to no reception. He was still quite proud of his secret base of operations.
"I don't think so... I just got my cell phone switched over. And haven't even checked it yet this morning." Adi admitted, as embarrassing as it was. Peeking down at his pocket, the blonde pulled out the equally yellow case that held his device and tapped the screen on. Still nothing, maybe it needed to be restarted? It was a slightly older phone and did have a tendency to do that. He held down the button to do so.
But hearing what the other person had to say? Golden eyes widened, lips parting and face definitely going a shade or two more pale. Oh no... that wasn't good. Not in the slightest! No wonder this guy came over to check on him, Adi wasn't even really prepared. He only had the bare essentials stuffed into his many pockets.
"Are they sure it's a wormhole? No, it has to be, they are too unmistakable." Fingers came to his lips, tapping them as Adi tried to think through his racing thoughts. UBs, in Arciel. Were they anywhere else? Was his mom alright? He wasn't prepared for this!
But the young man closed his eyes, taking a deep breath before he could panic. Tri whining as he looked to his human. Blindly, as his eyes were still closed, he patted the electric type's head. "Well, that is quite a situation now isn't it?" Adi muttered softly, phone buzzing in his hand to let him know that it was restarted. He'd check them in a second.
"Yeah, I agree with you on that one. Damn, what a time for them to show up." Lips turned into a frown, Adi reached up and scratched at the back of his neck. To put it simply, that sucked. "Well, I was going to head to Cedar, but I was planning on taking my time doing it. It seemed like a good place to start training him, he might be a big boy, but he doesn't exactly have much in the experience department." Adi's smile was lopsided as he looked down at his companion, roughing up the scruff of his neck which sent even more staticky fur drifting to the ground.
"Thanks for the update at least. I'm Adi, this is Tri. It's nice to meet a friendly face at least." That lopsided smile was turned to Liam as Adi turned his gaze to the other trainer.

Ahhh, seeing the guy restarting his phone, Liam suspected he might not have the best reception out here. His tended to act up a bit between towns too. So that made a little more sense as to why he wouldn't know.
When the blond asked about the Wormhole's validity only to immediately relinquish his doubt, Liam nodded. "They've said there have been a few probable UB sightings since then, too. Though they just seem to be... wandering aimlessly for now. It's kinda spooky." Not knowing when they might attack, it made the situation even more tense than if it had just been an immediate onslaught, in a way.
As he explained his former game plan, Liam looked to the Electrike again. Ah, so he wasn't as strong as he looked? When Adi introduced himself, Liam did his best to return the smile, if weakly. "Nice to meet you, Adi. Tri. The name's Liam, and this is Orchidée." He motioned to the Lurantis at his side. "Feel free to just call her Orchid, though," he added.
"So you're a newer trainer then? Or just training a newer Pokemon? Ah, either way, how about we head together to Cedar then? I was headed that way for work, and can help keep you safer along the way. Plus you can give us an extra two sets of eyes, so it'd be helpful for everyone."
[attr="class","fadednjadedtag"] Adi Gunter 232 Words 3/5 Skarmory Egg
His phone was held up at eye level, eyeing the reception bars as it blinked between none and one. Yeah, maybe it was time to save up for a new phone. Maybe a Rotom phone would be more reliable, especially if he was going to be off in the wilderness as much as he expected to be. Golden hues narrowed into a glare at the device. He was pretty certain that there would be something from his mom, likely once he got closer to a town. If this had been put out globally already then it was very likely she had heard it by now.
Ever since the last attacks she had watched the news almost religiously though it didn't help her anxiety or paranoia any.
"Both a blessing and a curse I suppose. Gives us time to prepare, though we don't know just what we are preparing for. They may have learned from last time. It's like a sword dangling over our heads, only we don't know when or why it'll drop." Adi was frowning, face betraying the mixture of anger and sorrow he felt. But this was also why he was here, it just meant he would really have to push himself forward. The sooner they were battle ready, or at least able to defend themselves, the better.
Liam, and Orchidèe huh? Those were nice names, though Adi was almost scared to try saying the Pokemon's name out loud for fear of mispronouncing it, even though he had just heard it.
"A bit of the former, a bit of the later." Adi shrugged, giving a weak attempt at a laugh. "I've had Tri for several years now, but he wasn't in the greatest shape when I first took him in. He's been a companion since, but I decided it was finally time to strike out on our own." And though Adi didn't like the idea of being considered 'weak', not when he was striving to be better. But, baby steps, maybe along the way he could still get some training done. He still knew what Tri could do, and it was about time they put that in practice. "Yeah, the buddy system was made for a reason. I just got to take down my tent then and pack it up. Ten minutes tops?" Assuming Tri didn't try running off with a tent pole wanting to play fetch.... again.
Assuming Liam was alright with that, Adi would jog back to his tent to start dissembling it, folding it and rolling back into it's tube. Returning he'd be carrying the tent bag as well his own personal bag. Now Adi was ready to go, and Tri was pawing at the ground and whining to get going. Adi chuckled and pushed Tri's shoulder. "Just don't go too far you baby."
Tri howled happily before wandering ahead of them a bit to sniff at all the new things.
"Well, if you don't mind me making some travel small talk? What do you do for work? Definitely something that requires confidence if you are out here on your own." Adi asked as they began their walk together.

Liam nodded solemnly at Adi's assessment. He did hope the Beasts weren't organized or intelligent enough to have learned anything from last time. It was easier to think they were just wild if alien Pokemon, dangerous but feral, than to imagine them as tactically invading. But he digressed.
Ahhh, so he was one of those trainers, huh? "I'm a bit envious. I always wanted a companion Pokemon when I was younger, but didn't get my starter until I left home to set out on a journey, heh." He smiled though thinking of her. "Said starter is a Kadabra now, but she was just a little egg when I got her~"
And oh! Was Adi camping around here? Liam didn't even notice until he said something. "Ah yeah, no problem." He patiently waited while the blond packed up, taking the time to check on his Skarmory egg in his bag and make sure Orchid was still doing okay while waiting.
Once Adi was ready they'd set off, and he asked about-- "Oh! My apologies, I completely forgot to say, heh. I'm actually an Arciel Ranger," Liam explained. "So it's my job to help make sure everyone else is safe in times like these. I'm not the strongest one around by any means, of course, but I'm a lot stronger than I was when I started out a year ago and I can keep a cool head under pressure, so hopefully I'll be able to do all right!"

Adi shared the sentiment, hoping that the Ultra Beasts were indeed just feral Pokemon. But if that were the case why weren't they wrecking more havoc already and in such small numbers? It was hard to say, but Adi would much rather assume the worst and be pleasantly surprised if that wasn't the case. Too bad he wasn't really prepared for any of it instead.
"I wanted to start my own journey at a much younger age myself, but my dad, well. Let's just say he didn't really encourage the idea, wanting me to be focused on being a musician like him. And mom wanted me to wait until the end of high school before making any big choices as to what I wanted to be. Otherwise I might have been a cop, or a gymleader or something else by now." Adi chuckled, smiling fondly over the dreams he once had. Both of which his dad had actively discouraged. "I don't know why, but my dad never really liked Pokemon. At least not having them in the house, has made it hard to encourage my mom to consider getting her own emotional support mon. I was thinking a Spritzee would be perfect for her as my mom really loves scented candles and the like." The attacks had really messed them and their plans up. But Adi was out for a journey now, an dmom was doing better. That was what really mattered right?
And ow tent down, feet and paws, and whatever you could call a Lurantis's feet were carrying them forward.
"No need to apologize, not like you have to go everywhere saying that you're a Ranger all the time. Which by the way, pretty damn cool." Adi nodded appreciatively. That was a role that was a lot more important he imagined than what he was doing. But to each their own. "No one is perfect, but as long as you try your best that's all anyone can ask. So I'm sure you'll do alright as long as you keep that up." Another lopsided smile was shared with Liam before he was looking forward again to make sure Tri wasn't causing trouble.
You come across a line of indents in the middle of the road. Could they be footprints? But... they don't look like the footprints of any Pokemon you know. How strange.

Liam listened as Adi explained his own situation. Ah, he sounded like he was in something of a similar boat then. Though, oh, an emotional support Pokemon? "That sounds like it would be really sweet," he commented. "I hope she's able to get one eventually." Maybe Adi could even catch her one, heh. "But I know what you mean. My parents wouldn't even let me have an animal. After they said no to Pokemon enough times, I tried asking for a bird or a hamster, just to have some kind of little companion, but they never budged." He put on a pouting face for a moment, but then smiled and shrugged. "Oh well. Not their call anymore, right?"
He grinned rather more sheepishly as Adi complimented his profession and expressed faith in his ability, a faint tinge of color coming to his cheeks. "Heh, thanks!"
As they headed along the path, then, eventually Liam saw a Crabrawler up ahead. "Oh look," he said idly. "Must've wandered up from the beach." The Crabrawler, though, upon seeing the two of them, startled for a moment and then squared up, putting up his dukes and rotating them in a 'come and get me' gesture. Liam quirked a brow. "Oh? You wanna fight?" He glanced for a moment to Adi, and then over to Tri where he was roaming not far off. But Crabrawler were Fighting-types, so actually...
He smiled. "Seems like a good excuse to show off my partner~" He fished her ball from his pocket and tossed it out. "Let's go, Cosette~!" The Kadabra took shape and looked around a little dazed for a moment, as though she'd just woken up, and Liam chuckled softly. "The crab, sweetie. We're fighting the crab." Oh! Okay! She focused in then.
The Crabrawler kicked things off with a Dizzy Punch, doing decent damage but fortunately failing to confuse the Kadabra. Cosette retaliated with a Psybeam, also failing to confuse but doing much more damage. Perhaps not as much as Liam expected, though? This must be a particularly strong Crabrawler, he thought.
Crabrawler tried a Power-Up Punch next, doing a lot less damage, but Liam recognized the move enough to know he should hurry this up lest the crab get too powerful. "Cosette, Teleport." She poofed over to the crab in an instant, grabbing hold of him from behind. He flailed, but before he could get loose they were high in the air, and a second later Cosette had poofed back down to the ground alone to watch him fall. That did quite a bit of damage as well, but he was still kicking, jumping to his feet outraged.
Not bothering to close the gap between them enough for a contact move, he launched a Bubble Beam, doing reasonable damage, but Cosette came back at him with another Psybeam, and that put the Crabrawler on the edge. Deciding the battle wasn't worth continuing, he quickly scuttled off. "Great job~" Liam praised. "Isn't she wonderful?" he asked Adi.
As Cosette headed back to Liam's side, though, something caught the corner of Liam's eye. "Hm?" Diverting off the path a little, Liam knelt down. "Hey, are these footprints?" He blinked. They looked like some, but... "They don't remind me of any of the Pokemon you normally see around here... Think we should try to follow them or...?"
Before they could decide, a feminine voice rang out. "Yo kid. Whatcha doin' down there in the dirt?" Liam looked up to see a young woman in punk aesthetic staring them down. She smirked something wicked, and asked, "Did you know I was planning on making you eat it and decide to save me the trouble?" ... Pff. Liam could almost appreciate that taunt, but in the end rolled his eyes.
"Ah... Adi, do you wanna give Tri a workout, or should I take care of her?"
[attr="class","fadednjadedtag"] Adi Gunter 645 Words 5/5 Skarmory Egg
Adi nodded along, also hoping his mom would be able to get a companion to help here. She still had issues with her anxiety, depression and paranoia every so often. It would be a big help for her, or so Adi imagined it could be. The only way to know for certain was to try. And the fact that Liam had a very similar exp6,while it was a shame that they had to wait, it was also nice knowing that Adi wasn't totally alone in the experience. "Yeah, you're an adult now right? No one can tell you what to do." The blonde smirked. That was the nice thing about being older, you could do whatever you wanted and no one could really complain about your lifestyle choices. Even if it was something as simple as owning Pokemon, a farm, or even eating cereal for all three meals a day.
And now Liam was blushing? Did the guy not get complimented often? Well, Adi might have to change that. People deserved to get complimented when they did good. And well, how much good could a Ranger do? A tonne if given the chance.
So as they wandered forward in relative silence, Adi kept his eyes out for what he could while also keeping an eye out for Tri. Especially with the pup's shorter attention span, that and the pup was known for trying to eat things. Especially if those things were rocks....
"Must have." Adi agreed, waving when the startled mon finally noticed them. The blonde chuckled, shaking his head when the large claws came up and it dared them to fight. But Tri didn't notice, and the canine was off digging at the dirt and loomed to be having fun. Which Adi loathed to interrupt, not when Tri was finally getting a taste of being outside. "Be my guest." Adi gestured to the mon with a wave of his hand. He was also interested in meeting Liam's starter, especially with how he had talked of her earlier.
And the poor thing was dazed and confused upon being released from her ball! Adi stifled a chuckle as much as he could, not wanting the Kadabra to be cross with him. Even though Liam was laughing at the psychic type too. It took her a second to focus upon the Crabrawler, but she seemed very focused indeed!
The hits were very back and forth, both Pokemon doing a considerable amount of damage to each other while resisting the confusion effect from each others moves. And that use of Teleport to turn it into an actual damaging attack? Remarkable! Adi was definitely amazed! "Very impressive! That was a great use of teleport! I never would have thought to of used it that way." Adi agreed, smiling widely at the Kadabra as she came forward. Wait, what was that? Lips came together as Adi looked to Liam with visible confusion. What was that hum for? Then Adi saw them too, something in the middle of the road.
Were they really footprints? Adi's knowledge of Pokemon was limited, but these didn't look like anything he had ever seen either. "I'd say a Voltorb, but they don't like this kind of area either. Even then it's not quite right, I'll agree with you there." Adi hummed thoughtfully, still standing and looking over Liam rather than trying to get closer to the tracks. But was it a good idea to follow them given everything going on?
And now there was a chick trying to give them a hard time. Adi snorted, she definitely seemed the troublesome type with her purposefully ripped clothes. Adi knew that look, they were done with scissors to look cool but failed to do so. She definitely had a holier than you kind of attitude, and how she spoke to Liam was just plain rude. Adi already felt anger starting to burn through his body. Who talked to strangers like that anyway? Granted, not everyone was a good person, but you couldn't be good if you were trying to kick people you perceived as being down.
"Oh yeah. Leave her to us." Adi smirked as he looked down at Liam and the winked. "It's our turn to show off. Tri, come on!" Upon hearing the command, blue ears perked up and Tri came over quickly. The girl just smirked more, throwing two balls out.
Maybe she thought Cosette was Adi's as well, but this was still looking to possibly be an unfair battle. But Adi didn't stop smirking, eyes narrowing at the girl. "You think that's the way to win? Fine, we'll still take you on." Arms came up to rest behind Adi's head, the male striking a relaxed, confident pose. Okay, so maybe he was a little worried, but he also had a trick up his sleeve. His continued smirk said as much, which only helped to piss the girl off. Didn't he realize he was about to lose?
"Wimpod, Sand Attack. Passimian, Tackle!" The resulting dust cloud made it hard to anticipate just where the next attack was coming from, and Tri ended up getting hit with the Passimian's ball. It wasn't quite as effective as if it were from the Passimian itself. But it still set Tri up for his next attack. Adi waved at Liam, motioning for him to move backwards and get a little further from the battle.
"Tri, Discharge."
Tri, tongue lolling out of his mouth in joy, ran right into the middle of the cloud. There wasn't much of a warning before sparks were shooting out from the cloud. And once it settled, Tri was standing not far from two paralyzed opponents. The girl called out more moves, but the Wimpod was covered in static and couldn't move, and this time the Passimian's ball was easier to dodge. Tri tackled the Wimpod, which startled it and it retreated back to it's ball. Which meant another Pokemon was brought out. A Stunfisk. Now this may prove to be a problem. But, could also make this interesting!
"You're in for it now! Stunfisk, Thundershock!"
Adi's eyes widened, actually looking shocked or concerned. The electricity shot forward from the mon, and went right towards Tri. The canine's eyes closed as he was shook from another hit from the Passimian's ball. And once all was said and done, Tri didn't look too bad, and Adi burst into laughter. "Oh Arceus! You actually thought that would work?" Adi continued to laugh, the girl looking shocked now. "Electric types resist Electric attacks! Adi explained, regaining his breath and wiping a tear away. He sure wasn't going to tell her about Tri's ability either. "Discharge!" Adi commanded, even knowing full well that it wouldn't affect the Stunfisk. But with Discharge now getting powered up, that combined with another tackle while dodging Stunfisk's mud shot proved too much for the Passimian which fainted.
Wimpod was brought back out, and another discharge had it knocked out too.
That just left the Stunfisk which up until this point hadn't used anything other than mud shot.
"Stunfisk, Bide!" The girl called, assuming that Adi would go in for the attack. But Adi knew better than that. The best tatic for Bide? Status moves.
"Tri, Leer until Bide is over." And since Tri hadn't attacked the Stunfisk at all, nothing that did damage, but the Leers continued to lower it's defense which let it wide open as soon as the Bide ended and failed. "Tri, take it down!" Adi called. Tri charged in with a tackle, and then got a face full of a mud shot. Tri whined, pawing the mudd of his face and giving himself a good shake before he growled and recklessly charged forward again in a tackle. "Bide!" Was called out, and the energy quickly gathered around the Stunfisk just as Tri hit it again. Shit! There was two options. Don't attack again to minimize the amount of damage it did, or take it out before the energy was unleashed.
"Tri, knock it out and quick!" Another tackle hit the flat fish and then Tri began to glow white with his own energy. Golden eyes widened and Adi smirked again. "Quick Attack!" And then Tri was rushing forward with even more speed, growling and slamming into the Stunfisk hard. But with the leering and previous attacks, it was out for the count and Tri howled in victory.
Adi also smirked. "That's what you get when you bite more than you can chew!" Adi taunted as the girl recalled her Pokemon and quickly ran off. Tri whined, limping back to Adi and the blonde pulled him in close for a hug. "You did great bud. Now give your leg a bit of a rest. Here, I'll rub it a bit huh?" Adi smiled fondly, already pulling the canine's ankle closer to begin massaging the twitching muscle. Thankfully it didn't take long for it to relax before Adi was looking to Liam.
"I think we should follow the tracks, but obviously be careful in case we find something unpleasant. But if we don't, then how will we know if it's good or bad? I'd rather know what's at the end than not check it out."

Liam had smiled a bit sheepishly as Adi complimented his battling. "Ah, to be honest, I can't take credit for that. I got the idea from a Chutube video I saw back when she was an Abra. But it's pretty handy, huh?" He felt like that usage for Teleport ought to spread pretty fast as more people saw it, though he wasn't certain if it would or not. Ah well.
When Adi agreed he would be the one to fight off their uninvited guest, Liam, Cosette, and Orchid stepped back a bit to a better watching distance. "Show her what you're made of~" he cheered. And Adi started big, warning Liam and crew to get back even farther to avoid the Discharge he had Tri unleash. Liam whistled in admiration at the show of raw strength. For Tri to know a move that strong when he was still newer to battling was impressive!
The battle took a bit longer than his had, what with Adi having to fight off three separate Pokemon, but Liam didn't mind, just admiring his new friend being able to put this punk in her place even three-on-one. Of course, he was ready to jump in if Adi looked like he needed it, but he seemed to have it handled. When the girl finally ran off, Liam congratulated them with a "Great job, you two!"
Tri seemed to have strained himself a bit in that battle, limping heavier than he'd been before, and Liam frowned a bit as he noticed, but soon returned to a more content expression as Adi seemed to have that covered too. "He must feel so lucky having such a caring trainer~" Liam hummed.
Adi turned his attention back to the tracks again, though. "Oh?" Liam shook his head. "Voltorb usually roll rather than bounce, so I doubt it..." It certainly could be a bouncing Pokemon, but they would've had to zigzag if so. It seemed more likely they were footprints, by the spacing, but... hm.
Liam bit his lip as the blond explained his thought process. "Mm... Here I had been thinking it was probably best not to go looking for trouble, but... Mmm. I suppose it's part of my job to ensure these tracks don't lead to something like an Ultra Beast or... I don't know, some sort of poaching contraption. You'd be surprised the sorts of things you encounter in this job." He let out one weak syllable of a laugh. "And you did just prove Tri is pretty strong, so the two of us together ought to be all right, hopefully. So sure. Let's see if we can find their source." Granted, the ambiguity of their shape made it hard to tell whether these tracks were coming or going, but Liam thought they looked sliiiightly more going? Even if he couldn't explain why, so still.
With that, Liam and Adi began following the tracks down toward the beach.

Adi shrugged, shaking his head all the same. "So it wasn't your original idea, but the fact that you could make use of it was still very good!" He praised anyway. Just what sort of moves could he use in a different ways? Probably something to think of more in depth at a later time. There was a punk that needed to be shown up.
And show her what he was made of apparently! Adi winked towards Liam before he was brushing the fringe out of his eye and smirking knowingly at the girl. Well, of course he was made of good looks, charm, passion and a bit of snark! Okay, maybe a bit too much snark. But you didn't see him complaining!
And yeah, the battle was longer, but still played out in their favor. Tri knowing Discharge was a big help, and a move he would have learned much later in life but had been born with it instead. And his coloration, apparently it was quite rare. Between that and his size, Adi could imagine why he'd been with that collector. And now the blonde was smiling as Liam complimented them, and seemed a little shocked at Tri's situation, but Adi knew just the thing.
"Thanks, I try my best. He actually got an injury before he came to live with me. It got infected, badly, and they had to remove some tissue. That's why there is this alight divot in his thigh." Adi ran a finger over it to point it out. "Also why he limps, but he seems to manage fine most of the time as long as he doesn't push it too hard too fast. We'll have to be careful using Quick Attack from now on, right bud?" Adi was actually a little concerned, especially as Tri didn't always think before acting. Though if the canine thought he could handle it then why stop him? It took a few minutes of rubbing before the muscles loosened and Tri was able the stand. Though he took a second to lick and butt his head against Adi first before the blonde turned serious again to contemplate the tracks.
"You're right, but you won't know if you do too much. But you will know if you didn't do enough. Plus, we'll be careful. You're team is strong, maybe even stronger than Tri. But if we need to run, Tri knows Thunder Wave which we can use to buy us some time or turn the tide if it comes to a fight." Adi tried to reassure the bluenette. Plus, his own Pokemon could probably help in a pinch. If everyone was returned, Cosette might even be able to Teleport them away. There, they had a back up plan! Now to see what was on the other end of the tracks. Which seemed to be heading more towards the beach. Water type maybe? Tri could be quite helpful if that was the case.
And as they followed, a mass of plastic started to come into view? Adi tilted his head, spying a Pokemon on top of the plastic nest. A wingull? "What's up with that Wingull?" Adi wondered out loud. And Tri, well, the question brought his attention to the already tense bird. Though why it was tense, Adi didn't know, but the electric canine running over certainly didn't help. It cawed, unhappy, loud and threatening, and when Tri didn't stop it used Water Gun, the blast of water hitting Tri full in the face and stopping him in his tracks. Shaking himself Tri narrowed his eyes at the bird.
"Tri, come on. No need for that. Just leave it alone." Adi tried to call the Electrike back. Adi beginning to panic as he saw the static start to surge around his partner. "Tri! No!" But that didn't stop the attack, the Discharge building then unleashing upon the poor bird. It's water and flying typing doing it no favors. Though it remained conscious enough to squawk and fly off. Adi groaned, palm slapping against his face before peeking through his fingers. That went so badly...
But now that the bird was removed, Adi could see two different colored mounds amid the ocean plastic. Adi raised an eyebrow, looking to Liam before stepping cautiously towards the plastic to see what was inside.
"Those, are definitely eggs. But that's a Joltik egg there, and that one looks like one too but it's a different color." Adi's brows crinkled as he contemplated just what was wrong. "Why would a Wingull have these?" Adi asked curiously before stepping closer to frown at them. Then he looked between Liam and the eggs, biting his lip and placed a hand on them.
"They are still warm, but I can't just leave them here. Who knows if or when the wingull will come back. And this isn't the kind of area a Joltik would be happy. Would you pull rank on me if I kept them?"

"Poor little guy," Liam commented as Adi explained Tri's situation. Okay, so he wasn't such a 'little' guy, and he seemed to be managing pretty well especially with Adi's help, but still. It spoke a lot of Adi's character that he'd take in and help a Pokemon with an injury like that though. What a good bean. He smiled as Tri and Adi perked up themselves.
Liam nodded at Adi's justification for pursuing the footprints. "Thunder Wave is good," he agreed. So down the beach they went. Only, hm? They soon found a Wingull on an odd nest of trash, and... oi. Liam cringed a bit as Tri got overexcited and scared the bird off. Seemed he still needed some training in the listening department, heh... Oh well.
As they drew closer and Adi pointed out the eggs, Liam's brows rose. "Oh yeah?" Joltik, huh? And one was white? "I think I've heard something about an Ice-type Joltik variant that lives up north, but I don't know what an egg would be doing way out here. Hm." When Adi asked about Liam 'pulling rank', he laughed brightly. "Hardly! You're clearly a kind and caring trainer. Better they go with you than be left out here to their fates, huh?" He gave Adi a brief wink and a smirk.
That said... "I'd almost say we should each take one, but I'm not super interested in a Joltik, heh. If you think you can care for both and want them, though, really, all power to you~"
As Adi tucked the eggs away for safekeeping, then, Liam had a look around. "Looks like the footprints go this way?" They headed onward, and wound up at the base of some small zigzagging cliffs that obscured much of the area before them from view. Going around one, they'd come across a small gathering of Slowpoke, one roughly twice the size of the others.
"Oh, look!" Liam said brightly. He wasn't interested in catching a Slowpoke-- they really weren't his type, neither fast enough to be good at responding to emergencies for a ranger nor elegant enough to look good on stage-- but he'd always found them cute to admire from a distance. "Aren't they adorable?"
The Slowpoke in question overheard this, however. A... dor... a...??? It took them a moment to process.
"Anyway, we shouldn't bother--" Before Liam could finish, one of the Slowpoke finally realized what he'd said before and grew incredibly flustered. Letting out a cry that probably translated roughly to B-baka!!! he unleashed a Water Pulse right at Liam. "ACK--" And before he knew it, he'd been knocked on his ass and soaked to the bone.
Welp. Looked like they wanted to fight. Knitting his brows, Liam huffed and barked, "Cosette, Orchid!" By this time, the other average-sized Slowpoke had caught on and squared up as well. Cosette would take on the male who attacked first, sticking mainly to her Signal Beam and Knock Off for that sweet super-effective damage. Orchid meanwhile took on the female and made even quicker work of her opponent with Petal Blizzard and Leaf Blade.
Just as the other two had enough and began to retreat (probably; it was hard to say for sure at that speed, but they turned and started walking the other way at least), the Huge Slowpoke seemed to have a moment of realization and began making flustered gestures as well. She leapt in with a Zen Headbutt at Liam's crew, but Cosette managed to tank it with her Psychic self-resistance. Afterward, a flurry of Signal Beams managed to scare the Slowpoke well enough, and a Knock Off even made her drop a Green Apricorn she'd been holding with her tail. (Maybe it had been intended as fishing bait? Heh. Anyway Cosette decided to grab it.)
Anyway, as she turned to follow her cohorts in the opposite direction, Liam finally made to stand back up, feeling kind of gross now, all wet with his ass covered in sand. "Ugh..." He tried to squeeze some of the water out of his bangs and his bun. "I feel like a sponge..."

Adi kept his focus on the eggs, still embarrassed by Tri's behavior, and the fact that Liam saw it from start to finish. Tri was usually a good pup, there was just moments where he got too overexcited and didn't listen. But surely not all Pokemon were perfect and even the good ones acted out some times? Adi really hoped so because he felt terrible about this. At least the eggs seemed to be alright.
Wait, an Arciel variant? Of course Adi knew of Alola and Galar variants of Pokemon, and he for certain knew that Arciel had some special colors for quite a few Pokemon. But they also had type variants too? That was pretty neat, and information Adi would tuck away for later so he could look into it more. "That is certainly neat." Adi piped up, and then burst into a big grin when Liam said that he was also okay with it. With Adi keeping the eggs that is.
"I'm sure I can do it. Just got to keep them warm, comfy and loved right? And I know a bit about Joltik already, I have a fondness for Electric types and know a fair bit about them." Though now he'd have to hope that the other white egg would also still be part electric type after it hatched. The blonde probably would have looked into it already but he didn't trust his phone. He really needed to consider getting a new one. This one had been through a few too many experimental charges and didn't even hold battery very well. But now with Liam's confirmation that he didn't want an egg, Adi was slipping his arms from his pack to dig through it. He always carried and extra duffel bag in case something were to happen to the tent bag or his own pack. It had happened before!
So now with the extra space, he pulled out his blanket and lined the bag with it before placing the eggs inside and wrapping them up the rest of the way. There was still blanket leftover, and this was just placed over top where it could easily be lifted to check on them. "There, I think they'll be happy like that for a bit." He blinked when he thought he saw one of the eggs lurch already. Were they already that close to hatching? No, must have just been a figment of his imagination.
And now they were off again to follow the mysterious footprints! Adi was tingling with excitement, and nerves, and what they could find. So finding a trio of Slowpoke was a much better alternative! "They actually are sort of cute." Adi agreed, though he also couldn't help but look at Liam's expression. It was bright and smiling, and honestly it wasn't only the Slowpoke that were cute right now. And Liam was right, they shouldn't bother the wild Pokemon, thought it seemed like the mons would bother them instead!
"What's the big idea?" Adi yelled to the Pokemon, using a move on a human without much in the way of warning. At least it was just water? That, was a lot of water, Liam's form practically dripping with it. That, was going to take awhile to dry. Adi winced, but Liam barked out orders and Adi knew he would have the fight under control in no time. Grass versus water was always a winner, and Cosette knew Signal Beam and Knock Off? Those were also winners against psychic types.
But Adi was less worried about the fight, and more worried about Liam's sodden state.
And Liam calling himself a sponge? Adi disguised some laughter as a cough though he was still smiling a little. "At least you're a cute sponge." Adi chuckled softly. "If you like, I think we're about the same size. You could borrow some of my clothes?" Adi offered. "If not, then you should strip down if you're willing and get dried off, we can use my tent poles to make a clothesline so that they get a chance to dry? Though it's totally up to you! Those are just what I'd do but I get that it's weird because you're with someone!" Adi just had to put his foot in his mouth....

Cute...? Liam's face heated a bit as Adi chuckled. Y-yeah, well... Hush.
That blush deepened as Adi suggested he strip. He... he wasn't wrong but... Liam swallowed. "Ah... I have my own spare clothes, as long as my bag didn't soak through. B-but yeah it. IS kind of awkward..." Teal eyes averted as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Just... I've got a lot of scars I don't like people seeing is all. So... Turn around, okay? I'll tell you when it's safe to look." Looking to Cosette and Orchid, he added, "You two, too." Sure they'd seen him change plenty of times at random, but for whatever reason this felt more embarrassing, so. Yeah heh.
Once everyone had turned away, Liam set his bag down and-- huh? Oh, neat. He noticed the Slowpoke must have dropped more Apricorns than he thought. He picked those up and tucked away in his bag, but then felt to make sure his clothes were still more or less dry. The part touching the lining of the bag was slightly damp, but a vast improvement over what he was wearing, so cool. He pulled those up to drape across the top of the bag for easier access, then stood and began stripping down. Off came his shirt, and then... hm. His pants were less wet than his top, but still wet enough to want out of. His shoes were dry though? And he didn't want sand clinging to his feet so...
A bit awkwardly, he pulled a shoe off and then stood on top of it, then did the same with the other foot before wiggling his way out of his pan--
"Oh my goodness!" rang a feminine voice nearby. Liam whirled around, eyes wide, to see a blonde in a sundress and wide-brimmed beach hat staring red-faced at him, and in an effort to quickly cover himself he managed to slip and fall into the sand, so now not only would he have to dust off his socks before putting his shoes back on, but would have sand clinging to his boxers. GREAT. "I-I-I'm sorry!!" the woman exclaimed, spinning around to hide her face. Liam was... annoyed.
