Shalin and Agate had reached the explorer's home away from Johto. Nestled in the southern foothills of the Rainbow Ridge was a hollowed-out tree, grown into a steep, rocky cliff that extended along the east and west as far as the eye could see...at least from their position beneath the canopy. Shalin recalled Serena, the Persian she rode through the forest on, before approaching a standard-sized screen door that covered the ground-level entrance.
"We're here," she said to Agate as she opened the creaky-sounding door. On the inside of the giant, hollowed tree was a primitive living space - a small table and wooden chairs in one corner, a hammock in another corner, and a couple of screen-covered holes that served as windows. Their angle would keep rain out in all but the windiest of conditions (unlikely, given how much cover there was nearby), and the screen in front would keep pests like Wurmple out. In a third corner was a simple wooden bookcase with multicolored puzzle cube, commonly sold in stores throughout Arciel; it was solved with the green side facing up. On the next shelf down was a gold-plated Kantonian Meowth replica, several smaller ones surrounding it.
In the final corner was a tall ladder, several stories high, leading upstairs. "Ready to see...my sanctuary? My place?" she waved Agate on. At the top of the ladder was a second screen door, above it message that was a bit hard to read, given how hastily it had been scratched into the wood. The message read "Shalin's Romping Grounds, claimed May 11, 2020." Once they were both up the ladder to the upper level of the tree, Shalin swung the door open, revealing a plateau with a small, circular lake in its center. There appeared to be several water-type Pokémon at play just off the shore, including a Floatzel, Tentacruel, Lapras, and Milotic. On the exterior side of the upper entrance hung several sets of riding gear for Pokémon of a variety of sizes. Near that entrance stood a Scolipede and a Tyrantrum, the latter of which wore a saddle that camouflaged with his scales.
It's been a while since he last hang out with Shalin... since that delivery thing. He was really busy with the harvest season in his farm, and in turn was unable to do much... not even training his Pokemons. But... all thing considered, working hard on farm did bring some extra strength on him. Shalin might have noticed that he's packing some muscles now-- not as if he didn't before, but now it's even more pronounced. Today... he decided to bring some dragons. Well, one isn't typed as dragon, but... whatever.
Riding along on top of Jasper the Arcanine is Ragnard the Charmander. Thorna the Axew prefer to walk, followed by Churio the Tyrunt (who seem to be very eager to find out more about Shalin's romping ground), and all thing considered Agate is carrying two Pokemon Eggs at it. One is a Gible... another is a Duraludon. The Gible is currently in the incubator, while he's holding the other one.
"...Man, I would never have guessed that the romping ground was actually a plateau up here..." Agate commented. Churio the Tyrunt already dashed toward the mature version of her evolution line, chomping and snorting in greetings. The little Tyrunt felt like a pup trying to make a new friend. Thorna was behind her, finding the Tyrunt's enthusiasm to be a foolhardy one. Sure their trainers are acquainted but it doesn't mean that she could just approach them like that! What if they're hostile!?
Ragnard is sticking with Agate meanwhile, and Jasper plopped after stretching himself. He's feeling a bit lazy today. As for Agate himself? He's securing the eggs first before turning his attention to Shalin.
"Well, please give me a tour then!" Eggs: Gabite: 1/8 (Incubator) Duraludon: 1/15

"My, you sure have been busy!" Shalin gasped as she saw Agate's arms and legs were just...rippling with muscle. She had previously claimed she could hold on to the wildest of unruly Pokémon, and had the finesse to back it up. Now, though, Agate looked like he could challenge her to that title with raw strength alone. "Inside the tree is my home away from home. There's not too much to it...a place to eat, a place to sleep, a place to take shelter from the elements...but up here is the main reason I come here."
Surrounding the plateau were steep mountains on one side and tall trees on the other three - the only ways she knew of to get here were through the Secret Base itself, and flying to the plateau directly. Most of the land was flat, covered in moderately tall grasses, but there was a small lake for water Pokémon - a low spot where precipitation from the south side of the mountain collected. "This is a place where I can practice with my Pokémon without being...what's the word..." She went silent for a bit, lost in thought. "I can't think of the word! Well, so no one I don't want to see me sees me. It's where all of my Pokémon enjoy themselves while they're not traveling with me. Some of my new ones, too!"
The Tyrantrum seemed to tolerate Churio's presence, and even gently played with the Tyrunt Agate had brought. "Regal," she gestured toward the living fossil and apex predator, who was surprisingly quiet for his kind - the loudest noise he made was from his crashing footfalls. "I've had him for a while, but I never brought him with me because I didn't want to make a scene. I hate the media enough as is - just because I have a talent for wrangling Pokémon doesn't mean I want to be a celebrity!"
Shalin went on a rambling tirade for another couple of minutes before snapping out of it, several other recent catches coming out from over small hills to greet Agate. Many of them were Bug-types, including a Scolipede and a small-looking Ariados. "Tari," she gestured toward the horned insect. "I caught her from the Sequoia Forest...and Swings," she gestured toward the Ariados. "If there's a Pokémon too wild or strong for me, like Regal, she'll use her web to harness me in place." There were also a pair of Eevee playing near the entrance to the tree's upper level, both of which had discolored fur compared to most of their kind. "They're my most recent catches - I'm still trying to figure out names for them. Maybe when I decide what to evolve them into, I'll figure it out."
"I mean I got that too," Agate commented. "Mine is also on a secret base, away from path that usually traversed by people. Having PC is nice, having special storage is nice yeah, but... I want my Pokemon to interact with one another. Sometimes the more senior member of my team would tell me what's up and I feel it's really nice to know personality of your Pokemon that way."
About concern whether they'll get captured or not if they were to be found, to be honest Agate does not feel all that concerned because he made training ground near his secret base, so it shouldn't be seen as some Pokemon FFA.
"Huh, I never thought that Tyrantrum would make any sort of scene... Though I guess considering their rarity in Arciel, that's to be expected. Anyway, are you having fun, Churio?" Agate asked the Tyrunt, who made a chomping sound, snorting happily. "Heh, you're still in mood to play huh? Go on ahead. I'll be right here."
Another snorting from the Tyrunt and then she's off again.
"Scoliopede huh... I recently got a Venipede egg... and Skorupi. I hope they'll be interesting to depend on. My Dad did said that he also got a Dratini egg from local post office. The parent is apparently a Dragonite mailman. For the meantime though my parents gonna hold the egg for me."
Eevees, huh.
"That reminds me, I need to hatch my third one. I got two. Castor and Pollux. I'm unsure what to evolve them into..."

"Exactly," Shalin agreed with Agate's line of thinking about letting Pokémon run. "And if I'm slightly late in restocking their food, they can always hunt - there are plenty of wilds around here. A little population control is natural, after all!" A familiar, almost buzzing-like roar came from the lake, a Razor Wind attack temporarily parting some of its waters near the southwest shore. "Ah, Prower's full of energy," the blonde remarked, referring to a rather large Floatzel that was also geared up for riding. No surprise that every one of her Pokémon was like that.
Once Regal had his fill playing with Churio, he stomped across the grass toward Shalin and nuzzled her, knocking her over. "Hey!" she shouted as she slowly got back to her feet. "See Agate, this is the reason I haven't really traveled with him yet - he doesn't know his own strength." After Agate told her about his new catches, Shalin's eyes lit up. "You have a Dratini egg? I'm jealous! Dragonair are amazing - they can jump from the sea to the sky effortlessly!"
The conversation transitioned into Eevee plans as Prower dove back underwater after the lake resumed its normal shape. "I'm leaning toward an Espeon and Leafeon myself. I admit, I'm a bit nervous about being teleported - I've heard it's rather disorienting. Even more so than...well, any of these Pokémon." Unbeknownst to her, the two Eevee were reaching for evolution stones on a shelf high up, near where the extra sets of Pokémon gear were hanging outside her natural-looking abode. Regal sat down and gently poked Shalin with his stubby claw, pointing to himself after getting his trainer's attention. "I think he wants to go for a run - wanna hop on with me? He's probably big enough for both of us!"
"Ah yeah I got you there," Agate nodded at her assessment. "In my case however, generally I'll just let my Pokemon eat fishes or berries... or Poke Food. Being a farmer's child have its perk... mainly by buying food in bulk and putting it in the family's monthly Pokemon Food expenses I got discount. That aside though because my wildly... varied Pokemons in my secret base, it's important for everyone to respect each other's diet, so... I told all of them to just eat fishes or berries or pokefood. Keeping inventory check is important so I'm thinking of actually hiring someone to check my Pokemons now and then. I guess I can ask my father but... even he got a handful of thing on him. I might install some simple machine instead where Riku could press the button to contact me if something happened..."
...Not having a Pokemon who could talk is probably a bit annoying.
He was wondering what to do when suddenly someone nudged his side.
"Ah, what's up, Churio?"
Churio seem to be a bit tired and is now hungry. She's opening her maw for food, just like a chick.
"Ah, right, here here." opening a can of Pokefood, Agate poured the entire content to Churio's mouth. The Tyrunt munched on it happily, then plopped on the ground, seem content being able to play. Eat hard, play hard, rest hard, that's Churio's motto.
"Yeah, I do have one. I think they even said that it'll be a huge one. For me, I don't really care all that much about size? I... I just like how hardworking and cute are Dragonite mailmen are? Eheh."
Espeon and Leafeon huh. "I'm fan of Jolteon and Flareon. My sister told me that I need to branch out more though, so I think Glaceon and Leafeon would be good too. Umbreon too... I don't have many dark type now that I think of it."
Teleported huh. ".....They said Arcanine can learn teleport," Agate commented, glancing at Jasper. Jasper opened his eyes momentarily, tuning in to the conversation. "Maybe one day I'll see if I can get my hand on TM Teleport"
Oh what, riding the Tyrantrum?
"I mean yes, he would have enough space, but... I wonder if I won't slide down heh. But if not well sure! I'm actually curious how riding a Tyrantrum felt like!"

"If you have a lot of Pokémon, that would make a lot of sense," Shalin replied. "It's getting to the point where I need to watch what I catch." Classie, her Lapras, was quietly singing in the center of the lake, barely audible over Prower's buzzing tail. Several of Shalin's other water Pokémon including Levy, her Milotic, were gathered around the performing swimmer. She couldn't help but chuckle about having a device where his Lucario could page him, though she wasn't keen on having a Pokémon as intelligent as Lucario on her team. Sure, she had Caprice, but Lucario were on a whole different level.
Shalin's eyes lit up at the mention of how big the Dratini was supposed to be. "Wow, you're so lucky to get a Dratini like that! If I had one, I wouldn't want to evolve it beyond Dragonair. The guy I flew to Arciel with had a Dragonair back home. Known him for a while, but we never really got to know each other. Loved electric Pokémon. Once we landed, though, we went our separate ways and haven't seen each other since."
Though she was interested in continuing this riveting conversation, Regal showed signs of growing impatient with Shalin. The girl hopped aboard her Tyrantrum, her heart accelerating a bit. This was her first time being atop a Pokémon known for its sheer strength. "Need a hand?" Shalin asked when she was securely atop the prehistoric predator, reaching toward Agate in case he needed help getting up. "I don't know what it's going to be like, but it's got to be fun!"
