Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
Theo enjoyed his morning saunter through the Route. Admittedly he was taking his sweet time heading towards his destination but he wasn’t in a huge rush to get to the top. Slow and steady. That was the way to be.
Cigarette and energy drink clutched in one hand he scrolled through his phone reading up on the local oddity that was the Bidoof of this region. Figuring it best to get to know his new lovable little ally. So he didn’t quite notice the trainer stretching on the side of the path. Theo had almost entirely walked past him when he called out.
”Hey, I’m Joffrey. You’re a trainer, right? Wanna battle?”
”That’s a bold claim…” Theo said sluggishly, blinking his half lidded eyes stil wanting sleep. The trainer though simply nodded to his belt, the hoodie having gotten caught on Toxer’s Pokeball. Theo simply shrugged and took a long drag of his cigarette.
”Fair enough, how do you want to play this?”
”What do you say to a two on two battle. I just caught my second Pokemon.”
”Yeah that’s cool.” Theo yawned as he pulled Pearl and Precious from his belt. He knew Precious still had the creeps from that weirdos Pansage but he was sure that she could power past it. Either way Pearl was a power house to be reckoned with. The two stepped off the path and into the low grass, spacing out a generous space between the two of them and with a nod shared they both tossed out two Pokeballs each.
Pearl thudded into existence, her purple scales seeming so much brighter in the open sunlight. Precious was coiled, her head sticking out out the top of her body though he could tell through her shiver that she still had the heeby jeebys. Stepping forward Theo pulled a Paralyze Heal from his bag and knelt down to apply it to her scales. The other trainer sent out a Spritzee and the biggest damn Pikipek he had ever seen. He swore under his breath at the Fairy type on the field but one advantage of having a Dragon was no shortage of Poison types to cover weaknesses.
”Ready?” ”Sure.”
Theo groaned as he stepped back, draining the rest of his drink before putting out his cigarette in it. He could tell from the gleam in Joffrey’s eyes as he looked over at Pearl that he was eyeing up the type advantage.
There was a flurry of shouts nigh incomprehensible as the battle began. Theo called for Precious to go directly for the Fairy with her wrap attack and Pearl to go at the Pikipek with her Rollout. From the glitter coated wind that bore into Pearl as she rolled at the bird Theo guessed he went for a super effective move. It definitely hurt Pearl but didn’t stop her advances. The Pikipek however peculiarly dove into a similar ball as Pearl and charged to meet her head on.
Precious sprung to the air! Her large frame coiling around the pink featherball of a Pokemon and the two slammed to the ground. Pearl and the Pikipek met head to head, bounced off one another and seemed to double back to come in for another round.
”Spritzee! Use Sweet Kiss!” ”Precious, Bite that plush toy!”
The Seviper dug her head into the coiled tangle that contained the Fairy Pokemon. Her fangs finding purchase as she suddenly became engulfed in a pink glowing energy. She dug her coiled body into the Pokemon. Though the Spritzee slipped out of the coil and Precious was wrestling her own tail in confusion.
Pearl and the Pikipek met head on one more time though this time the momentum of the Rock type move was too much for the young bird to take, huge as it may be. It recoiled to the side as Pearl stopped in her tracks turning to face the Spritzee. Joffrey recalled his Pikipek and behind them sounded the confused hiss of a Precious who had just bitten her own tail.
”Come on Precious, what are you doing girl? Pearl, I’m counting on you. Tackle that fuzz ball!” ”Fairy Wind, Spritzee!”
The purple regional mascot rushed headlong into the glittery cloud that assaulted her scales. Her padded claws dug into the ground as she closed the distance and took to the sky majestically tackling the Fairy to the ground. The hissing pile of Precious rolled across the field behind them as the Spritzee squeezed out from the Bidoof and floated some distance between them.
”Again!” ”Defense Curl!”
The Bidoof curled up as the glittering wind tore against her once more. Though she attempted to guard herself Theo could still see the pain from the special move was not stopped. Begrudgingly he pulled out her Pokeball and recalled her from the battle.
”Precious snap out of it! It’s down to you baby!”
His words didn’t seem to break through to her though he didn’t hear the other trainer call out his next orders and the eerie echo of the Spritzee’s cry took the field. It rocked over Precious as he fought herself and she went still for a moment. Her golden gilded head popped out of her coiled body and for a moment Theo saw recognition. Precious snapped out of confusion. Now they had a chance still.
”Wrap it up!” ”Another echoed voice!”
The brash sound didn’t stop the Seviper though it did have its effect. She spun herself into a knot around the small Pokemon. Her muscles tensing as she tightened around the Spritzee and it let out a cry.
”A-a-alright. Enough. Poison on Fairy. We know when we’re beat. Theo nodded, a remorseful look in his eye as he called for Precious.
”Come on back girl, they give.” The Seviper gently released the Pokemon, careful as to not cause the Pokemon any further harm. She slithered through the grass up to her Trainer who met her with a warm and loving pet. Joffrey returned his Spritzee and looked at the ball for a long moment in his hand.

It was perhaps a bit earlier than Levy would have liked to be awake, but she couldn't sleep in like usual. It was going to take her most of the day to get back to Bass, and she was supposed to stream with Elliot tonight. But she had business in Birch that just couldn't wait, and that had gone longer than she had hoped as well which resulted in her having to spend the night away from home. Probably the first in awhile, at least from what she could recall. At least she had the foresight to bring her most faithful of companions with her. Of course Zei had come with her, she didn't want to put her favorite fox through the separation anxiety that he was known for having when parted from her.
And Harmony was always good company. And when was the last time Ophi had been out for a decent length of time? Too long, so the darling snake was brought along too. And now they were making quite good progress through the Route. Maybe they would even get home early? That would be great! It would mean much more time to relax before the stream. Zei was sitting on Levy's shoulder, the Nickit small and light enough to fit with ease. Harmony was going between flitting and bouncing about to being settled in Levy's arms, cuddling into the embrace before he was growing restless.
Unfortunately, Ophi was much too large for any of this, and instead just slithered along beside Levy. Though, the snake was even happy to do this. Her tongue flicked out occasionally, though this happened more rapidly as she noticed an interesting scent. Disregarding Levy, the snake began slithering off in a different direction.
"Ophi?" Levy called as soon as she noticed the snake leaving her side, which also didn't take long. It didn't take long either to find what had caught the Seviper's attention. Another Seviper, and in a battle too. Hopefully they didn't mind if Levy watched?
Though, with her being quiet, and them being preoccupied she seemed to go unnoticed. You know, those were really cool Pokemon, and she couldn't help but admire the Seviper. The snake was gorgeous, what could Levy say.
"Hello!" Levy called, waving to the guy if she caught his attention before hurrying over with Ophi in tow. As well as the tiny Nickit clinging to her shoulder and the togetic giggling as he floated behind them.
"That was a cool battle, but I couldn't help but admire your Seviper. I have one myself, and I just find them so gorgeous. And I think Ophi here wanted to come over and say hi, if you don't mind that is." Levy smiled, flipping her hair she had left down over her shoulder while she absentmindedly fingered her phone charm.

The opposing trainer wandered off after paying a fair wager to Theo which he quickly put into his bag. He hadn’t noticed the girl with blue hair that had stopped to spectate the fight though noticing her own Seviper in tow as she approached he grinned at her in greeting.
“Hey there,” He ran his hand across Precious’s scales as they girl and her several companions cleared the distance. “Thank you! Precious here is a power house. We just teamed up yesterday but she’s my girl.” He wrapped his arms lovingly around the large snake before giving her the go ahead to go socialize with Ophi, as the girl had called her.
”I’m glad you did. Precious here lost her nest to some Zangoose so I think seeing some other Sevipers will do her some good.” He watched as she slithered over to the other Seviper, Theo enjoyed observing the subtle differences between the two that only were apparent side by side when he heard a small voice behind him.
”I saw that too. You got lucky!” With a wince and an eye roll Theo looked over his shoulder to see a small girl staring him down.
”You might have taken him down but my Yungoos is no joke.” And in all fairness it didn’t seem to be. The small, tan pokemon stood by her feet seeming rearing to go.
”Just ugh...give me a sec.” He looked over at Precious who seemed to be glowing with another Seviper around and instead pulled out Toxer’s ball from his belt. He still had some juice in him and he wasn’t above healing him if it went south. With a lazy lob the Pokeball erupted to leave the blue Pokemon standing, slouched and seemingly unenthusiastic as always. Though the two Pokemon set themselves up for battle. He could tell the girl was inexperienced still because of her lack of hesitance and throwing her partner into the ring with a type disadvantage but the pair did seem to have some experience battling together.
”Mud-Slap it Toxer!” ”Sand Attack!”
The two pokemon flung earth into the air. Toxer’s ball of muck smacked the Yungoos in the face but in turn it’s sand caught in his eyes. A croak of resentment echoed from his throat.
”Get in that Poison Sting!” ”Tackle!”
The two collided though Toxer’s poison sting missed its mark. The Yungoos’s attack did a solid amount of damage despite the typing so Theo could tell he was still a contender not to be triffled with.
”Now hit them with a pursuit!” Another off type hit but he knew it would still be plenty of damage. ”Get that poison sting in there. Try to keep it quick.”
Despite their size difference the Croagunk was still faster than the Yungoos. Sidestepping the attack he jammed a purple glowing punch into it’s side, inflicting it with poison. The pokemon was still able to hop right to it’s feet. A slight heaviness to it’s breath indicated to Theo that it was certainly feeling the poison's effects.
”Get at it! Tackle!” ”Mud-Slap her again, try to stay out of the way.”
As a second wad of mud flung into the creatures face he did manage to get another shot, tacking right into the Croagunk. The two tussled on the ground before breaking apart. Theo still had a fighting move up his sleeve but he wanted to let the poison set in, make his target a little weaker. Bleeding out some poison and staying out of range was a tried and true method for his Pokemon and him, but if they could just get that final blow in there.
”Now, Dynamic Punch! ”Pursuit!”
The two Pokemon flailed harmlessly at one another, both having a hard time seeing. Then as their trainers repeated their orders they both missed again. A bead of frustrated sweat formed on Theo’s brow, this was all too much work.
”Come on, Toxer. Show them what you’re made of! One last Dynamic Punch!”
The pokemon charged in, Theo not even registering the other Pokemon trainers command as the two collided. The glowing fist of Croagunk caught the creature though the sickening black energy of it’s pursuit met him head on two. The two stood panting for a moment before the Yungoos gave in to it’s poison and fainted.
Levy was all smiles until she heard the news, mouth agape slightly as she looked to the other Seviper and finally took note of the scars littering the other's body. "Aww, the poor darling!" Levy frowned, worried about the snake now, but she seemed quite happy to see Ophi? Ophi was too at least, coiling loosely and butting her head kindly against the other and nosing her gently. Looking for other injuries, or just nuzzling, Levy couldn't tell. Ophi was just too odd sometimes.
"Ophi and I didn't meet under the best circumstances either. But at least she has you now." Levy smiled a little, thouh cocked an eyebrow at the younger girl who then came over. And she was definitely challenging the guy she had just met. Levy rolled her eyes and gave a good natured smile.
"Be my guest." Levy gestured, moving off to the side and leaning against a tree to watch this battle too. And the guy had a Croagunk took?! "Wicked." Levy chuckled. That Yungoos didn't stand a chance. Levy looked around as the battle took place, spying the small monkey above her who was also just chilling and watching the battle.
"Seems like a no brainer who will win this one eh?" Levy asked conversationally, the Simipour just shrugging and chatting back. "Simi, simipour." The Pokemon said, as if the yungoos stood a chance. The bluenette chuckled and watched as the battle played out, but ultimately ended in the girl's defeat. Levy was smirking as she walked back to Theo, holding her hand up for a high five.

Theo met the girls high five with enthusiasm. A sly grin on his face, quite happy in his star Pokemon’s accomplishment. But still, as he looked to Toxer, he could see the wear and tear of today’s battles starting to add up on him. Patting the top of his head he beamed down to his Pokemon with pride.
”Toxer here is my oldest friend. He has gotten us out of more than one pinch. Here buddy.” He knelt down and pulled a potion from his pack. He applied it with care and patience, making sure that he gave his best friend the treatment he deserved. It was only a matter of moments and he was looking good as new.
”There you go.” He stood up and dusted himself off. With a glance he noted where Precious was, still beaming in the comradery of another Seviper. It was good to see her with some joy. He had to make sure she saw more affection from him than battles.
”You’ve got yourself quite the team there too...I’m sorry I didn’t ask your name. I’m Theo. You’ve met Toxer and Precious.” He offered her a warm smile, a hand shake seemed moot after a post battle high five. She was the first person he’d run into that hadn’t been itching to battle right off the gate but from the look of her team she could easily give him a run for his money. He went to take a few steps back, not wanting to light a cigarette right next to someone he hardly knew, and in the process he heard a loud declaration of protest. Theo jumped, almost dropping his cigarette as he side stepped and looked to see a smile pile of sand take the shape of a small and displeased Sandygast.
Theo winced visibly at the realization he had hurt it and quickly put some extra distance between the two of them. Offering both hands, palm out he tried to reason with the Pokemon.
”My bad...not trying to squash your vibe. I’ve got no ill-will towards...sand ghosts. We’re good.” His breath held in his chest as the Pokemon considered him for a moment before turning to slowly step away... pour away? It was hard to describe the sifting motion of autonomous sand. Giving up he turned to his companion and lit his cigarette.
”I really need to get some type coverage.” He said, half joking.
