A random event has occurred! What will you do? Ollie Evenwood With the young Wishiwashi safely escorted back home, or close enough, karma is on your side. Though the storm has definitely caused some damages along your new path. Branches continue to litter the road, fallen leaves are practically everywhere. Most most notably, there is a large trunk that has already been pushed off to the side of the road. It is no longer in the way, however you can see something just hidden in the shadows. There is a shine to it, and definitely looks too round to be natural. Now the question is, do you check out the inside of the trunk or pass it by?

The Team!Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 4 4/5 ----------------- Ollie was content with the day. Granted a lot of what he had been doing today was what he would do on one of his normal treks out and about with Myco before becoming a Pokemon trainer but now it just felt like it was a part of something bigger. It was what he had really been hoping for. That feeling of representing what is right in the world and helping to be that for others. They were Rangers now, that he had no doubt, and he had never been more excited in his entire life. They made their way back up to the road, following the same river. He was a pretty soaked now but he didn’t mind. The more they kept moving the quicker he would dry. They kept a slow pace, Ollie slowing himself to match the Pokemon’s pace, Atlas had gotten tired quickly and had come to enjoy riding atop his partners ponytail. It was nice! He would have brought out Gwendolyn as well but it seemed like he was going to have to work with her more to earn her respect. He wouldn’t change it if he could. They were to be partners after all so they had to earn each other's trust. They hit the road and headed north, crossing a small bridge as they went. There were more signs of damage but it seemed like Ollie wasn’t the only one making sure that the road was clear. There were signs that the branches and shrubbery that sat on the side had been dragged there. Something peculiar caught his eye however. A trunk. It wasn’t something that one would normally find out here in the first place but neither was a Wishiwashi. Walking up to it he could see that it was already ajar. Perhaps it had never been full. Fell off the back of a wagon or simply had been there for ages. It seemed to be in decent repair but honestly he didn’t normally come up this route. Reaching inside the lid he pulled it up to find that it was not in fact empty. There was something small and round in the corner of the trunk. He couldn’t quite make out what it was so he slowly reached out and clasped his hands around it.

A random event has occurred! What will you do? Ollie Evenwood Reaching into the trunk, you find that the object rolls away from you at first, but the surface definitely belongs to something round and smooth. And it feels like plastic? Metal? It's hard to say, though your hand bumps into another. Two objects? Grabbing them and pulling them out reveals to be two pokeballs? They are a bit dusty with dirt, but nothing that would warrant them not being used properly!

The Team!Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 4 4/5 ----------------- As his hand pulled at the object shrouded in shadow it bumped into another that had been hiding deeper within. They were Pokeballs, it would seem. He checked to make sure that they were empty. What a tragedy it would be if someone had lost their Pokemon in such a way. Ollie glanced down to Atlas for a moment who was watching him intently and forced a smile before looking back to the Pokeballs. At least that wasn’t the case, accidental or otherwise. ”Looks like it was a couple of Pokeballs. Wonder if somebody lost them.” He closed the trunk and crouched down beside it, presenting the find to his partners. The Cleffa attempted to pick up the Pokeball though as it was roughly the same size as him it was proving a far more difficult task. ”These probably belonged to somebody but…” He looked back at the trunk stashed among weeds. ”Kind of an odd thing to store only two Pokeballs in don’t you think?” He rolled the other around in his hand as he thought. On one hand the possibility of someone coming back for them, if they were misplaced, was slim. On the other if these were the belongings of another person he would feel bad having just walked away with someone else’s items. ”Here the deal. We’ll take them with us and if we come across anyone who says they’ve lost Pokeballs we’ll make sure to give them some. Even if it wasn’t them just pay it forward right?” He nodded down to Myco and Atlas who watched him contently as he went over the moral conundrum. He slipped the balls into the side pouch of his bag and climbed to his feet. Myco climbed up his leg once more and he picked up the Cleffa to sit atop his head. ”On ward!”

A random event has occurred! What will you do? Ollie Evenwood Before you get too far, you see Pokemon scampering towards you! It would appear that this was their home, and now they are wondering why you are making off with their things! Some of the Rattata gnash their teeth, ready to fight for what is their's, but others are more hesitant. Do you fight them and take what is now yours, or do you try to convince that these pokeballs aren't food like they seem to think?

The Team!Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 4 4/5 ----------------- They had barely taken a step when Ollie stopped as a blur of purple dashed before him. The weeds on either side of the path rustled and he turned to try and see what was causing them. All he saw was another blur dash into the overgrowth. He turned once more and came face to face with an assortment of Rattata. Several of them chomped in their direction, causing Ollie to throw up his hands and take a step backwards past the trunk. The Pokemon looked to the trunk and back to Ollie then to the trunk again. Ollie followed his gaze with a visible confusion as to the message being portrayed. The Rattata lashed out again, repeating the look to the chest then became focused on the Pokeballs hanging at his side. Light bulb. Ollie reached back into his pack and retrieved the two empty Pokeballs he had stored there a moment prior. Holding them out the Rattata seemed to chatter among each other and react to seeing the brightly colored orbs. A few of the smaller ones seemed to eye them anxiously, their jaws smacking as if hungry and staring down their next meal. ”These? These aren’t food you know. This is People stuff.” He put the Pokeballs aside and made a noise of disgust. ”Those won’t do you any good. You’re lucky you didn’t catch yourself. I’d hate to think of what might have become of you.” He looked between them for a moment and slowly dropped to his knees. Paras climbed up to his shoulder and he could feel Atlas trembling against his ponytail. He knew there was no way to fight these Rattata should they choose to attack but neither did he want to. He was an intruder in their world and his being there had an impact on them. He just had to make sure that that impact was more positive than it was negative. He slid the pack off his back one shoulder at a time. Always watching the Rattata as he did but trying not to put off a feeling of fear or anxiousness. Pokemon could sense that sort of thing. He placed the bag in front of him and pulled open the top. Placing the balls inside he pulled out a small pack, a simple shade of green with a zip top to the pouch. His lunch. He had packed it particularly when he left home, a few simple sandwiches and fruit nothing over the top but the last bit of home he brought with him packed away with a icepack to keep it cool. He set the lunchbag down and withdrew two sandwiches, a banana and an apple and placed them on the ground in front of the gang of Rattata. ”If you’re hungry then take these. It’s not a lot but there’s some for all of you. But I’ll take the Pokeballs and call it even.” He folded his hands in front of him and bowed his head, closing his eyes as a sign of trust hoping his offering would be a sufficient trade.

A random event has occurred! What will you do? Ollie Evenwood4WOYoNGbp_Your convincing seemed to do the trick! The Rattata seem to come to a collective decision that the food is fine, and there's more than enough for them to eat. Besides that, it's not plastic! Each of them grabs what they can carry and, without even a backward glance or a thank you, the rat-pack dart hastily into the bushes and out of sight. Maybe they'll leave a good Skrelp review?

The Team!Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 4 4/5 ----------------- Ollie looked up past his brow to watch the Pokemon approach. They sniffed around for a few moments and just like that, they were gone. He watched as the last of them zoomed out of sight and chuckled to himself. Happy that he had been able to make a difference for someone else on his path. ”Well guy’s I’d say that we are certainly leaving an impact so far wouldn’t you?” He looked over to Myco on his shoulder and flashed him a smile. The ranger then pushed himself up to his feet and pulled his pack back on. He was going to start down the road again when he looked over the chest that was the home for the Rattata. It took some time but he made the effort to push the chest just a bit further off the road, obscuring it with weeds and overgrowth best he could so no more passers by would bother the family. A part of him wanted to stay longer. Looked at the chest and thought of how he could improve it. Make it more resistant to weather. Reinforce a side entrance maybe for easy access. Shoot he could build a whole other shelter. But he could hear his father’s voice in his head. Reminding him that it was important not to intervene unless needed. Nature found it’s ways to carry on and you never knew when you were impreding more than helping. So Ollie brushed off his hands on his pants and climbed from the foliage. Walking up and down the road a few times he assured that his camouflage was working. Granted he had no idea that to someone a little closer to six feet in height could still make out the lid of the box to him it seemed flawless. Satisfied with his work they moved forward, Ollie bringing Atlas down to hold in his arms as they enjoyed the view.

The Team!Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 4 4/5 ----------------- Atlas chirped happily as they strolled. Myco was content to sit and clean his claws. It wasn’t long until Ollie felt bad that he had left Gwendolyn in her ball for so long while the others were out in the open world. Shifting Atlas to one arm he retrieved Gwen’s ball and released her in a beam of crimson energy. She stretched out her wings as she looked about her, her back turned to them as she took in the surroundings. When she turned to lock eyes with Ollie’s his eyes narrowed to meet her gaze. ”Eh! Eh! Hold it!” He spoke sternly as she stretched her wings ready to take flight. Already he could feel the soreness on his scalp from where she had pulled his hair before ache in a phantasmal pain. ”We’re partners. Let’s work like it. Okay? Friends?” He held out a palm of peace. ”Thought you’d like to stretch your wings, maybe do some scouting?” Maybe with an eye in the sky they could see another ambush coming. At the very least have the upperhand if he were to stumble into one. She squawked loudly at him and took to the sky in a spiral pattern as she gained height. Ollie watched her for a moment, admiring the majesty of a bird in flight before continuing on their path, gazing upward now and then just to make sure Gwendolyn stayed on track. It was peaceful for some time. He’d watch as she flew ahead then circle back to swoop down and gain some more speed. Myco opted to climb into his pack for a nap. Atlas was still as content as ever. A perfect little prince of a Pokemon. It caught him by surprise when Gwendolyn suddenly dove into the nearby overgrowth. There was rustling for a moment before she popped back up fluttering down to the road in front of him. A tangle of plants in her beak. She then presented them to Ollie before taking a few steps back. ”Oh that’s…” Ollie stepped forward and knelt down, placing Atlas on the ground, and picked out several loose leaves to reveal a twisted knot of roots. He recognized these from his father’s long talks on their nature walk. This...this would come in handy. ”Great find girl! Thank you! Well done.” He reached forward to russel her feathers but she took a large jump back. With several flaps of her wings she took flight, grabbing a strain of his green hair before yanking it loose and taking flight once more. ”Well, baby steps I guess.” He said to Atlas with a shrug as he rubbed his head before collecting the root and shaking it clean of dirt.

The Team!Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 6 4/5 Lvl 4 4/5 ----------------- As they cleared through another grove of trees Ollie could see the tops of homes starting to become apparent on the horizon. Cedar Town. He had been there a few times when he was younger but never had he gone out this far on his own. That meant that the first leg of his new journey as a Pokemon Ranger was coming to a close. He felt good about it. He found himself a friend in Atlas. The small Pokemon packing a whole lot of power in a teeny package, though he was sure they’d just have to coax it out. Myco got himself some training in as well and he had even made some progress on face with Gwendolyn. Though it did admittedly leave him several hairs short in the process. More importantly they had left the route a better place than when they had arrived. Despite even a storm and an ambush from some well meaning, but all be it confused, Rattata. Possibly even saving them from trying to choke down Pokeballs as a midday snack. Though the thought of his missing lunch caused a loud grumble to sound from his gut. Atlas looked at him with horror and concern for the noise. Ollie laughed and pet him reassuringly, his whole hand dwarfing the tiny Pokemon. ”Hey no, don’t worry. Just a little hungry is all.” He brought his fingers to his lips and whistle loudly calling back Gwendolyn to him. As she circled around and came closer he held out a Pokeball recalling her. He could hear the gentle sound of Myco sleeping in his bag so he let him be but along with Atlas, tucked inside his shirt, the three headed down the path marking their first… Ollie caught himself on something in the road, stumbling forward he made sure to catch himself, hands immediately going to securing Atlas. Looking to find what he had caught his foot he saw a shining orb he had not noticed that seemed to have been trodden into the road. With a little bit of prying he managed to get it loose. ”Huh...people really need to get better about leaving stuff around. I swear. Just wasteful.” He slid the orb into his pocket, not quite sure what it was, though knowing it would do better in his pocket than in the road. So the three (four if you count Gwendolyn who rested in her ball) headed down the path marking their first step of their tour of Arciel complete. ---Finished thread
